Are you using the US T-Mobile Vibrant?
If so, it doesn't support 850MHz 3G.

I'm pretty sure Eugene figured it out, since he uses AT&T and his area only has the 850mhz band. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure of it.

I believe you go into the dialer, enter *#2263#, go down to "COMBI BANDS" (last option), "WCDMA 850 (FDD V)" (last option), click it, press "Add WCDMA_W850", press back, restart phone, and your good to go!
Did you do those steps?

I stick by the "Not in the FCC document" argument. They tested 1700/1900/2100MHz bands on the US Vibrant. No 850MHz band listed.

They listed those 3 bands, but the phone wouldn't list another band if it didn't have it.
You just have to enable it, do what doubleohseven said, and it'll work.

Are you actually confirming that this works? I've done the same thing (even disabled every band but 850MHz) and it turned out that it was actually still connecting to 1900MHz...

Huh? That's what I'm saying...if the radio was physically capable of 850MHz, wouldn't they have tested it?

They could have simply missed it (like they're going to "miss" the monopoly of the AT&T-Mobile Merger).

[Q] Problem: Accidently selected USA Band!

I recently got an unlocked AT&T Atrix off eBay. I was mucking around with the *#*#4636#*#* menu trying to fix a minor connectivity problem where I couldn't connect via UMTS, and by the chain of unfortunate events I managed to set the frequency to USA band. Now, since there is only USA band to select, I can't set it to any other band, I am in Australia and only pick up 2 other networks which are not mine.
Is there anything I can do to get it back to the unlocked state so I can find my network?
I remember with my Galaxy S, there was a recovery mode that could wipe everything, is there anything like that with the Atrix?
Thanks in advance!
I don't mean to sound asinine but can't you just do the same thing and select the correct information?
You could also do a full reset on the device or flash it too.
No, only the USA band is there, I cannot select anything else It came unlocked already so I'm not sure how they did it.
I'm hoping there is a way to fix this without resetting or flashing it.
If it comes down to it, is this the most up to date flashing guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
Thanks again!
Vol Down+Power
Select Android Recovery
Click right bottom of screen
Wipe out
Then you are all clean
If your phone is rooted, you can manually input the proper carrier information in
settings > wireless & networks > mobile networks > access point names
A quick google search or call to your provider should be able to get you the information you need to enable data
On the other hand, the AT&T Atrix doesn't support UMTS 1700/2100, so if that's the band your carriers run on, you're SOL trying to get 3G.

actually the AT&T atrix supports 850/1900/2100 UMTS bands so it does work for overseas carriers that support 2100
im actually using it right now in Hong Kong and they use the 2100 band for 3G, no problems with data at all
apparently the OTA update fixed your issue with the USA band for some people who had the problem. i think they did as follows flash to the retail sbf, than let everything stock, get the update over wifi install it and the radio worked again.

No this method doesn't work ..
I was in a similar situation 2 days ago. So, the first thing i tried was do a Android recovery. After this method failing, I went to the last stop, Flashing of the 4.1.26 SBF.
And I jumped with joy to see my Atrix seeing the GSM signal again.
I had 3G before this had happened so I know it worked on my network.
So just follow this guide and I will have my GSM signal back again?

Thanks for your help guys, can't believe such a mistake could cause such a problem :/
Flashed it back to stock, now it's working
Thanks XDA!

Assuming you are using Telstra (same as me) have you used the mobile configuration page? Support the ATRIX
configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/index.jsp
It might, but requires the phone to be working first, as it SMS a password to gain access ot the site!

Correct, I should have stated it was an intended fix if he hadn't of fiddled with it (i.e. his connectivity issues) as it installs all the correct APNs and settings for you (However it does not add default, tether - just default so be sure to update it for tethering)
you should put [SOLVED] in the title so people know where to look for the same problem ;D
Howzit,
Could you show me how did you do that?
I'm new using andorid and I dont know how to do this procedure.
Thanks.

Use in Singapore

Will this phone work in Singapore? Looking at the frequencies, it seems like it should.
I'm running CM10.1
While in singapore, I tried turning the phone on and it would not get a signal.
I tried the different "Preferred Network Mode" options but no help.
Might this be because I needed to get a SIM card in singapore and install it?
Would I need to call up verizon and get it "unlocked" before I can do this?

I believe the HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is not carrier locked, so you shouldn't have to get it unlocked before you can use a different SIM.

You mean the change to build.prop?
I wasn't sure if that was needed with another SIM.
Also I wasn't sure if the freq is supported.

I tried but it doesn't support 2100 MHz
Do you know another radio?
Check out the following site:
reboot.opencripp.org
Lots of radios available for download from there.
Now, I can't say which will work well in the US or if any can provide support for 2100MHz, but they are all there to try out.

Does we have something like it?

Unfortunately, the Atrix service menu doesn't offer as many detailed options as this.
To reach the service menu, enter the dialler and type *#*#4636#*#*
In the phone information this brings up you can select your preferred network type but there isn't any option to set frequencies.
Perhaps worth playing around with to see if it makes a difference?
Standard disclaimer applies: If your phone explodes or breaks after using the service menu, it is not my fault!

Foreign SIM doesnt prompt for unlock code

I have a sonim xp5700 verizon that is locked, and I want to unlock it. But when I insert a Ukrains SIM I get no prompt for an unlock code. Instead it just says "no service. Vodafone UA" I've contacted several of the online unlock code suppliers and they say without this prompt I can't unlock the phone. I Am I totally hooped, or is there some way I can get this phone unlocked?
Try one of the phone dial codes. Just worked for me but I have a Samsung. AT&T didn't share with me the easiest way to do it... meh, whatever.
Try this...

My bad, skim reading again.
You apparantly only get 10 attempts... so sort this out.
Found this.
Hi
It's not prompting for an unlock code because the phone is not locked. Verizon does lock its phones. The phone is therefore unlocked.
If you read the phone specs you will also see that its a CDMA/LTE ONLY device. It does not have the GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz radio. Is Vodafone UA using a CDMA or GSM network?
If its using the GSM network then it will only work on LTE frequencies that the phone supports LTE: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B12/ B13/B14/B25/B26/B28/B30/B38/ B41/B66 | UMTS: B1/B2/B4/B5/B8 no GSM voice network.
I had the same problem after I bought the phone and tried it on a foreign GSM network. It would not work.
Please go into Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Prefered network type.
You will see it only has these 3 options
* LTE/CDMA,
* LTE Only
* CDMA Only
There will be NO option for GSM
I hope that answers your question. Thanks

Question RFToolKit?

My phone is a T-Mobile branded DE2118; I have noticed this app in those secret launchers(I use Activity Launcher); I don't know Chinese at all and also when I set something I lose my signal for 5-10 minutes.
Regardless, this phone has the SD480 in it and apparently with the x51 modem it should have support for mmWave.
Is there any way to change/modify the bands at all within this app/program? Has anyone actually been successful with it at all?
I have had success using com.oneplus.engmode for LTE band selection, making sure I set the signal to lte_only in the *#*#4636#*#* phone menu
Well, there's an issue; *#*#4636#*#* doesn't work for me......
I wonder if it was caused from when I bricked my phone a month ago?
I don't know, but here is a video of the process on mine

Thanks! I'll work on this tomorrow!
I checked it out, but it only shows LTE bands and not NR/mmWave
