so i rooted my thunderbolt and everything went fine. i installed the venomROM and it installed perfectly. i thought i knew what i was doing and tried to add the blue gps off one and i installed it through rom manager. this will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003891 this is what i used.. now i have no home screen and my phone froze. i reset it and now its stuck on the boot screen were it just sais android in blue.. im freaking out idk what to do?? i dont know how to get it to boot up again or what? please help me outttt
just boot into recovery and flash another rom or install the default rom by flashing the RUU found on the development thread.
yeah but i dont know how to get to anything because it goes from the htc loading screen to the custom rom screen and just stays there i cant do anything with it =[
If you hold volume down and power at the same time it will boot to bootloader. From there, scroll down to reboot recovery, press power and you should boot to Clockwork.
omg i feel like you saved my life thank you so much. so i dont screw it up again how do i and things to roms? like i tried getting the blue virusRom but it was grey so i installed the one blue themed virusROM and it messed it all up lol
Glad that worked out. Just make a backup before you do anything you're unsure of next time and carefully read any directions given to prevent having to redo something (prevention > recovery). Worst case, you can flash back to what you had before a bad mod. Clockwork recovery has an option to back up your current rom before you do any sort of installing.
ok so say i want the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003891 in the #3 like how do i get that theres no links no specific directions it just confuses me. your being the biggest help i appreciate it
Save file to sd card, boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache. Then pick advanced>wipe dalvik>go back. Then install zip from sd card>choose zip from card>find the rom's zip and install. Easy stuff.
You really should go through the stickies in the development thread and figure out what you're doing before flashing anything lest you turn your brand new phone into a brand new paperweight. With a kickstand.
im pretty sure thats what i did last time. i installed Virus ROM blue theme plus power cnt. zip. and it gave me no home screen. if you could link me so i could read up on this that would be wonderful. i feel like i only know how to instal full roms but not add themes without whiped my previouse rom? idkkkk. great now i just tried to boot in to recovery from rom manager and it wont boot. it asks if i want to boot into recovery i say yes and it just sits there. never moves or booots. this **** always happens to me i swear
Just some advice: ALWAYS make a backup before you flash anything. I know it's tedious but it will save you headaches like this in the future.
i did do a backup last time its just nothings loading from Rom manager, nothing will bott not even the backups. i feelll likes its not rooted anymore from wat happened earlier

Are you able to get the Virus rom to load and get your phone to boot up?
Or is your phone not working now at all?
Also, how did you load the Virus rom onto your phone? It's not in rom manager so you must have put the file on your SD card and loaded from there?
Did you remove the PG05IMG.zip file from your SD card after you rooted your phone?

its deff on my sd card to i see it on there and everything just wont boot into recovery from rom manger

Hi Guys am quite new at this however i've been doing some research on how to install [ROM]KaosFroyo V30 on my Eris but i have not found any instructions or guide and so i was wondering if anyone here could help? by the way i am running the android 2.1 version released by Verizon an HTC and hopefully this won't be a problem.
Google is your friend, also the Eris root app might make things easier.

first question is are you rooted?
i think the phone's rooted now!
well i used the eris root app and when it asked me to i used the KaosFroyo V30 zip and it seemed to install ok, then i boot up the device and after an initial boot screen i get a screen saying android in blue and like a white light inside i don't know if that makes any sense but that's where the phone stays. i guess i am rooted now but then phone won't fully boot up

good luck and remember to always do a nand backup before flashing anything...saves more lives than seatbelts
The thing that you did different was wiping caches before flashing. That's why it works now.
BTW, NAND backups are important, but the one you made this time was worthless.
A NAND backup makes a copy of your system. Unfortunately your system wasn't functional when you created it.
Use this as a lesson. Always do a NAND before you change anything. That way you can restore to a working system.

Hi guys I was messing around on the HTC DROID ERIS and I may have damage my phone. I change the wrong NV items. 435,436,1192,1194 and now phone keeps turning on and off. it only gets to the skate boarding green dudes. I try adding a custom rom but i dont think i am rooted. I try doing the system wipe but as soon as it reboots to enter that mode it reboots and reboots again same system. I can only update with the PB00IMG.zip but does not changes anything. I can only keep it stable on the hboot usb which I dont know what else to do with that. anyone has any idea on how to correct this issue...
My vibrant running a rooted froyo started to act up today after it wouldnt play my mp3 files, saying how its the incorrect format or something. So after it said that for every song i restarted the phone. I get past the phone boot screen and i even get to see the bar up top that i could usually slide down but the rest is black, i hold the power button as if im going to shut it off and the power menu comes up and anything i do freezes the device. The bottom soft touch keys are turning on but seem to have no effect on anything the phone does. Im also getting these weird vibrations out of it every so often.
I got into recovery, tried deleting the caches, still nothing so i formatted the system partition since it gave me an error every time i tried to restore it. now its stuck at the vibrant screen.
Help please

well if you restored the rom and it dont pass the first screen you should install a kernel such as dead horse, dragon, overstock...and it should work because ive had that before
Easiest way is to Odin to stock...you are trying to run the wrong kernal on whatever rom you are using...they are incompatible

ok brother so now reroot the phone and flash anything again... just read instructions and make sure its for vibrants
If bet you installed a non voodoo kernel over a voodoo one and it wiped your internal SD card....you news to toto the vibrant Bible and get the update.zip, move it to your internal SD...then reboot into recovery, then reinstall packages might have to hit reinstall packages twice...then you can flash whatever rom u want

Ive already downloaded it and backed up
So I woke up this morning and I noticed a little blue android man standing next to a caution symbol on my phone screen. I was stock rooted before this happened. I believe the recent update went ahead and updated itself while I was sleeping. Can someone help me get my phone back to stock root? If I press the menu button, it brings me to the Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 screen where I have the options to "reboot system now", "apply sdcard:update.zip"... etc. I'm not really good with Revolutionary so before I do anything I would like the opinions and suggestions of others who are more experienced. Obviously I'd like to avoid a factory reset as much as possible. Thanks!
You have to get the stock ruu 2.11.605.5 and re flash it. It will remove root unfortunately because .9 is not rootable yet.
Flash back to non root stock by putting the ruu i mentioned above on your memory card (not in any folders) and rename it to PG05IMG then power off the phone.
Hold power and volume down for a few seconds and the phone will go to the Hboot screen, it will find the PG file and update itself. Once its all done, reroot with revolutionary and then go into the developement section here and get the rooted version of the 2.11.605.9 ruu file and just flash that in recovery.
You will have to flash the new radios as well. They have to be renamed to the same name I posted above and flashed the same way thru the Hboot screen
So even if I were to back up with My Backup Pro, I wouldn't be able to recover all my data, apk's, photos etc. because I wouldn't be able to root on the latest update, correct?
Try wiping cache and rebooting before you flash an RUU, lose root and your data. If it bootloops or is still otherwise non functioning THEN you will have to RUU it.

Your photo and apps should be backed up on your sd card. your setup will be wiped but all the stuff on the sd card will be fine. Just have to reinstall
as for what the post about wiping and rebooting, that will not help unfortunately because the update deletes root. If you want to get back to root, you have to reinstall.

Did you wipe system as well? How long are you giving it at the HTC Splash screen before you decide it's frozen? I haven't been keeping up to date with the Warm train lately, so I'm not sure if there have been any issues with the builds. I know back in the day, sometimes the build bot that myn used would bork a build from time to time and it wouldn't flash. Have you tried flashing any other builds, or just r119?
yes i did a complete wipe initially.. flashed.. got stuck at screen.. i left it there for 2-3 mins with no response.. just hovering at the HTC screen. I have not tried flashing any other roms as I wasnt sure what if any adverse affect this may have on the current problem

Before you go any further in trying to figure it out, I would let it sit at the HTC screen a bit longer than a couple minutes. I've had it hang there for 5 or 6 minutes on certain sense roms that I flash, especially on the first boot. Give it a solid 7 minutes or so, and if it's still hanging there..then yea it's stuck. After that, I would simply try flashing something else and see if it works. Perhaps you got a bad download as well, maybe try re downloading it.

Transfer it to the SD card from recovery. I'm not sure what recovery you're on, but every recovery has the feature to mount the sd card from within recovery. It's like USB MS Toggle or something to that nature. In TWRP 2, I think it's under the 'mount' tab.
Did you just try turning it on again yet, and seeing if it will eventually get past the HTC Screen? Again, it could take a bit more than 2 or 3 minutes on the first boot.
EDIT: And yea, you should be able to get back to a stock ROM no problem, or at least get back to a functioning phone, lol. Did you make a nandroid of your stock setup right after you rooted, before you tried flashing warm?
no i didnt make a nandroid backup sadly. im letting it sit for 10 mins before i give up on tyhis version
I don't think that ROM will boot as I'm pretty sure it has no boot image in it. Joelz was doing some stuff on the later builds and removed the bootimage.
Go into the thread and look for Vin's post. He is on the front page or on post 2. He has been the one updating the ROM for Joelz. the last version I knew of was around 01/12 or so?

I tried flashing the Mean Bean rom. I'm not a noob when it comes to flashing, but I made a noob mistake. I just got my phone and forgot to image before I wiped and tried flashing. The rom was stuck at "format /system" for 20 minutes. I held down the power button, and now, since I didn't image the stock, I can't start the phone (it gets stuck at the white screen) and now when I try to install the rom again, the zip is missing.
I have no idea what to do next. I am downloading all of the ruu files and I'm going to run each one until one works, but I'm not sure if that's even going to fix the problem.
Any help would be more than appreciated.

Can you expand a little bit? I went into settings and there wasn't anything there to mount. I went into mount and marked "mount SDCard," and I went back to install and nothing popped up. I do have a ROM on my SD card, but its not the same rom. Its a rom I know that works.

Got it to flash properly. Thank you again everyone, especially gmoe65!
Do you have any data you need or can you do full wipe? if that is possible this is a easy way to flash a ruu. 1 download the ruu from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744700&highlight=how+to+root the one that is titled PJ75IMG.zip 2. you will need to put it on your external sd card somehow ( easy way would be taking it out of phone and putting it in a different one then move it using that phone, or mabye using twrp recovery if possible make sure it is the external sd though), make sure you put it on the root of the external sd card. 3. boot into bootloader and the file should be recognized and it will ask you if you want to processed click volume up for yes this will bring you back to stock ics and it will also flash a image to the phone. hope this helps
