hi everyone,
i have tried to update my x10i to android 2.3.3 via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364 and after not having any luck i formatted everything via xrecovery and not my phone just says sony ericsson and does not go any further and i cant boot into xrecovery anymore.
i have to pull out the battery or else it tries to boot again.
So what am i doing wrong and how can i fix this????
thanks,
Alex
Use PC companion/SEUS/flashtool to flash your phone back to 2.1
You didnt use the format options in 'partition tools' did you? If you used the 'format system' option you removed everything including XRecovery files and flashing may not work. I think your problem with the 2.3 install was likely because of the wrong baseband.
Never wipe the phone after installing a ROM all it will do is erase what you just did and you'll need to reinstall. If you reboot after wiping you no longer have a FW on your phone. Just read the instructions and follow each step exactly and you wont have any problems. Almost any problems you have can be avoided by simply reading.

I boutght week ago HTC hero locked to the UK orange after i had unlock it, made goldcard, downgrade, flash the reboot image, i succed to install new rom, but there is my problem.Every rom i installed on him somehow crashed, many times phone just restart him buy itself, can t read memory card on him, sometime can t open aplications ( even if they are on the phone memory),is much more slowly ten official rom i ve got here before, cant connect him trought USB cable to my computer cause he fail again somehow and other problems...
I tried almost 15 different ROMs wich one i downloaded from there...
Any ideas how to fix that?
try wiping before flashing the rom.
If you mean wiping in recovery mode then i use to wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery, every time i flash new rom to hero. Should i also wipe cache partition? or i dont know try something else?
no, i dont think it will help.
if this consist, maybe your last option is to start everything from scratch?
but i would have wait for others advises.
how you mean that start from scratch?
to run an RUU and than root and all this procedure.
but again, i advice you not to do that yet, only as last option.
I dont believe then there is no person who whould spend 2 minutes to help me with that
here is the best fix for this,
root your phone...guide by me on hero Q&A
INSTALL ROM MANAGER,
download any of these roms (down)
install a stable rom u like sense, try VIllian rom 12
u like plane GB try elelinux 7.0.0 rc2 u like plain froyo try froydvillain
now backup sd card (just copy and paste everything to ur computer)
format sd card from phone......now
install the new rom using my guide or any guide... read comments on quides before attempting any way.
I install my xrecovery fine and everything seems to work. I've been playing around with Trips ROMs and just flashing those back and forth between his gingerbread and froyo ROMs. But, out of nowhere xrecovery literally stops loading. Yes i press the back button various times and take out the battery and try again. The only solution i have is flashing the firmware, rooting, and installing xrecovery again. This is an annoying process and i was wondering if anyone else experiences this and could help.
Can the phone boot or are you stuck in a bootloop? Did you reinstall busybox? If the phone boots normally use root explorer to check to see if the chargemon, busybox and xrecovery files are still in system/bin

No it boots, and i didnt reinstall busybox. It just messes up occasionally. I found a new solution. I can just reinstall xrecovery through flashtool and it works fine. Thanks a bunch though!
Hello to all,
Firstly first post to this site and also new to the world of rooting/flashing so bare with me on this one..
Ok as title states I would like to know on how to successfully flash my x10 and receive the benefits that xda have given to alot of us!
Phone specs:
Xperia x10a.
Ver 2.1update1.
Rooted via super one click.
So far I have only been able to root the phone.. I have TB and have performed a back up recently. I do also have the Rom Manager app whilst watching a tutorial via youtube flashing using the Rom Manager I was not able to use the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery as the x10 was not in the listing to proceed. I have also got xrecovery ver 0.3 and tried another method using this but I was not able to install xrecovery properly.. I downloaded it all well and good but went to install and the 3 windows never became ticks just crosses.. Uninstalled and reinstalled but to no avail it did not work..
So my questions are:
Have I done something wrong on my end for this not to work? (knowing my luck yes).
And all I'm after if someone could take the time out and lay out a clear somewhat easy path in order for myself to be able to flash and install custom Roms? cm7 is what I would like to use unless if a good recommendation is given.
Thank you in advance to all and I do apologize for the long post I just wanted to make sure I covered everything.. Still new to this
Kind Regards.
Agera.
Xrecovery installer can be a bit troublesome. Sometimes it doesn't even work for me.
In my opinion, the best way to install xrecovery, root, & jit enable your x10 is through flashtool. You will need a PC but the process works better than the installer. Try that method and find out if that works.
Hey thanks for your reply, my noobness is showing greatly at this point regarding xrecovery... it'll help if I actually click install busy box and destination folder (duh) made me look....yeah Ok well now I have a phone that has been rooted and now have xrecovery in operation, I guess now comes to install a custom rom.
Now to sum it all up basically I have to copy paste desired rom and google rom pack load it onto the sd card (not in any file inside sd but just on sd) perform final backup get into xrecovery factory wipe first? I believe then custom rom reboot then get back into xrecovery then install google apps reboot and done?
I hope I got that down I'm trying to remember processes without having to go back to a tutorial, if I left anything out permission to give me a clip over the ear
Cheers.
When you pick a ROM, make sure the phone's baseband matches the ROMS baseband the developer wants. Also, follow how the way the dev wants the ROM installed, like phone wiped and cache wiped and stuff. And sometime there are multiple files that needed to be flashed in a specific order in xrecovery. So make sure you follow all the devs directions. Hope this helps.

and you can find different ROMs that don't require you to flash googleapps as well, that just makes it confusing. I started with FreeX10, as it was simple and easy to install. once you have a hang of it, I recommend using Trip's GB MIUI. and you said you backed up phone before you installed xrecovery? I recommend you backup using xrecovery first

fixed phone was able to get back into xrecovery and do a restore...
Ok, something I want to ask regarding what I did today when I went to update to a newer o/s eveything went fine until after the phone rebooted and came back to the home screen the 2.2.1 froyo rom I used seemed to be refreshing itself every 2 seconds which made it next to impossible to navigate around the phone... The arc version 2.3.1 opened up and about 30 seconds it froze restarted and shut down again did that for a while... So both didnt work for me only other thing I opened up was the google pack so I could get the market and gmail, I also tried it without installing google apps... same thing happened.
So my question is have I forgotten to put an extra file in? or was it my blind luck that I used to unstable roms?
I've really tried here.. if anyone can please post a link that is certain to work with exactly what i need to do and what files I need that would be really great. Whether its 2.2 or 2.3 it doesnt matter to me so long as it works at this stage I'm having no luck getting something solid here...
Cheers.
My phone is currently on android 1.6 and the pins in the USB port are faulty so basically I can't use the USB connectors. I know that if I have xrecovery, this wont be a problem because I can just flash custom roms using this. However, my phone is rooted but the Xrecovery Installer keeps giving me an error that it cant be installed on this phone. I'm pretty sure its because I am on 1.6 and its only compatible with 2.1 and above so is there a way I could somehow either get xrecovery installer package to install on 1.6 or update my phone from 1.6 to 2.1 without USB or xrecovery? If I can't do any of these things, I luckily have a past xrecovery backup on my sd card which is 2.1 but I can't restore it because I unfortunately dont have xrecovery on the phone. Is there another way I could restore this xrecovery back up data? Thanks in advance. Please reply and answer quickly as I'd like to get this problem sorted as quick as possible. And no trolling. Only reply if you have advice or answers because I dont want this thread to waste anyones time.
If know one can fink of anything, could someone tell me if there is an alternative to xrecovery that I can use to restore the 2.1 xrecovery restore image file?
Dear XDA developers,
I was tired of sony ericson servers being overloaded and thus being unable to update my phone, so I decided that I wanted to have CyanogenMod on it. I followed this tutorial http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Mini_Pro:_Full_Update_Guide and then I had a phone that kept showing me the startup animation of a droid with a spinning circle.
I had done the CWM backup before flashing as described by the tutorial. I've searched a lot on the internet and tried these tips to try to fix a bootloop:
- wipe cache
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe dalvik cache
- install update.zip (cyanogenmod) again
- restarted 100 times
In all kind of combinations, nothing helped.
Then next I wanted to just restore the backup I had made, so I pressed Restore and selected the backup. Rebooted the phone and the SE splashscreen showed up. Then the SE logo kept displaying for minutes. I connected the phone to Logcat in Eclipse (I'm an android developer) to see that the phone kept doing the same loop over and over again.
In all the steps I did I never rooted the phone, because the tutorial didnt say so. After reading a lot it felt like I should have rooted it first. Can anyone confirm that this is correct?
I now beg for you help to tell me what to do next? I have downloaded latest flashtool, I also have a working flashboot. I dont know what to flash/do anymore. I'm totally lost and the phone is looping forever. What should I do now?

reflash to stock FW using wootanserver.
...or you can just flash via fastboot prerooted kernel like Rage 2.4 for mini pro, and try everything again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398910
and try reding this:

and

same problem
Guys I have the same problem, but I even rooted my phone, the CyanogenMod does start with the android on a skateboard and once the homescreen even came up but just rebooted straight after.
If I were to start all over with stock firmware how would I go on about doing that? Links?
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
Did you flash the kernel provided in the zip file?
Also, before restoring your previous backup try doing a full wipe, non just factory, but go into mounts&storage from cwm and hit the fortmat sstem and then tr restoring backup.

After a lot of research I found the solution, even though it takes me back to stock rom I'm happy
Basically I repaired it with pc companion, on the home screen --> clicked on start under Support Zone; then Start under Phone Software Update;
then on the pop up box I clicked repair phone (underlined in blue); { click Continue, check box, Next} and just follow on screen instructions and the phone is reset to factory settings :good:
However I still found my bootloader unlocked when I tried to install rom again, don't whether it stayed or because I also unlocked my simlock today too.
Anyway the rom still didn't work for me so had to repeat this process all over again
If anyone has a good tutorial for rooting a sony xperia mini pro and & installing a good rom on it pls let me know, my model's still on Gingerbread and it hogs the battery crazy.
