So, what do you guys think is the best web browser for the X10 mini??
Personally, i use Dolphin Browser, but i find that it's a bit slow sometimes.
What do you guys use and why?
Opera Mini
Or
Skyfire
I prefer Opera Mini 5.
i am still in doubt of which browser to use. normally i use opera on the street because i know it compresses content, which saves my 3g plan.
when at home, i normally use the native browser, though i think it is a bit slower than i 'd like. skyfire seems nice also, but the only feature that really attracts me to it currently is the flash video conversion thingy. if skyfire was able to compress data like opera, it would be perfect
for speed xscope (1.6 version)
how do you guys run dolphin? whenever i tap the screen the page zooms in, making it virtually unusable on the mini (and yes i did try the non hd edition).

I agree fully to this and this is the reason I uninstalled the app. Can anybody elaborate zooming?

Same thing for me, and would like to know why too, so if someone have an idea ... Thx
Was wondering if anyone is able to email xscope lite to me? Or redirect me to an external link? I'm not able to find it on the Market. Cheers.

+1 Opera Mini
Opera Mini FTW
Eh, dude, skyfire use compression data like Opera mini, in fact, from a brief survey, I say Skyfire is faster than Opera mini.
Opera mini is the best...
I actually use the stock browser, opera mini and skyfire depending on the pages I visit. Opera for general browsing, though for me a lot of times it doesn't handle signing into sites very well, which the stock browser does quite well. Skyfire for videos. Though I would really like all of them to stop asking to be made the default one.

+1 Stock , fast and clean
Edit : Ouch, I was wondering where this comment went. This was supposed to go to the touch pal Dialer threat.
Anyway, since I'm here, what the heck. I'm using Xscope right now. Its interface is a lot better than others and it has pin to zoom which is the closet thing we get to one touch zoom in the album. But I'm also keeping skyfire around to fire up its video capability if I ever need to.
It depends on each persons personal needs. Nothing wrong in the stock browser , SE has done quite well in bringing out the best from donut

Can you even cut and paste in the stock browser?
I like the stock browser but there's just a few little annoying things that forces me to use other browsers from time to time.
If its something that I wanna cut&paste then ill use either my desktop or my other phone ! Browsing is not very easy thing on the mini's even if you have a different browser. Just not worth it. Screen size kills user experience

I know about sky fire, fire fox, dolphin. But honestly it doesn't seem like any of these are a better alternative to the stock web browser. Dolphins ability to view desktop pages is cool though. Can anyone recommend a browser that is actually all around better than stock or does such a thing exist?
XScope is not bad. I use DolphinHD myself.
http://androidandme.com/2010/04/app...-the-fastest-alternative-browser-for-android/
I like Miren Browser the best out of all I have tried. It's a very simple UI with tabbed browsing, and I find it to be the fastest of the browsers I have used (I'm sure many people would disagree with this, but on my phone this is what I've found). Hope this helps!
xscope and miren are the best. xscope is due for another major update.....cant wait.
My vote is going to have to go with Miren as well. I have been using it for the past week and a half and i have to say, it's slightly faster, and it fits well with my blue theme. Simple UI, advanced features when I need it, all around solid browser. Dolphin HD seemed a little slow for me all the time, but then again, other people may have diff experiences.
To me it's a toss-up between Dolphin HD 4 and Miren. Both are fast and feature packed. Dolphin mini was ok but lacked add-ons that I use with HD.
Opera Mobile 10 seems to work best for download sites such as filesonic, etc. but is a little slower and usually re-directs you to mobile websites even when setting the 'Mobile View' option off.
Xscope 6.x seemed to be the most feature-packed and perhaps the most bloated. It was considerably slower in loading AND rendering pages than all the other I've used.
Don't even waste your time with Firefox - it's the slowest of them all and has a lot more development to go before it can be a usable browser on android.
Skyfire is different than the above because it uses proxy servers to render content so it appears faster because of this and also has video capabilities. Since it doesn't connect to websites directly and instead uses proxies you may experience slow connections or no connections (happened to me a few times). The main advantage is you can view flash video content from sites like CNN.COM and ESPN.COM. If you are running Android 2.2 or higher you can view flash content directly and therefore Skyfire it not really needed.
Opera Mini works similar to Skyfire in that it uses proxy servers to view websites but doesn't have video capabilities (last time I checked).
I don't really like browsers that use proxies (UCWEB is another), I want a direct connection to websites just like on my PC.
I haven't really found the 'perfect android browser' since I sometimes I find a site that works better with one browser than the other which is why I keep Dolphin HD, Miren and Opera Mobile. I guess my main browser would have to be Dolphin HD.

Dolphin mini is my favorite. its about the same speed for me on the vibrant but on my girls mt3g slide it is super fast. dolphin mini not dolphin hd
Opera mobile is my fav. Reminds me of Firefox for desktop.
My second is Firefox mobile.it jusy doesn't seem as fast as Opera IMO.

I have a little problem. I love the opera mobile browser....but each time when I am browsing and decided to switch to another application on my vibrant, for e.g messages, yahoo messenger e.t.c. when I try returning back to opera mobile to continue from where I stopped using the task manager it just open opera mobile afresh with all the tabs I was reading gone. does any one know the solution to this?
xScope is fast but the UI is hideous. (no offence but I really hate the UI).
I was using Dolphin Mini for a very long time, it's lighter and faster than HD. I've just switched to Opera Web recently but I haven't decided if I want to keep it yet.

Are you using any task killer? If you are, stop using it.
If programs still get killed too fast, get minfree memory manager, set it to a value that gives you more room for apps running at the same time.
Maxthon was posted in the main android dev forum on here a couple weeks ago. I have been using it some and like it so far.

I use Dolphin HD and love it. As a LastPass user, it has the built in browser plugin that is essential for me.
Try the Miren browser, it's nice, can do flash just like the stock google browser, and home pages when opened up.

Stock since you can switch between mobile and desktop view.
I've been using firefox. I love having all my desktop shortcuts on my phone.
I do have to bounce back to stock rarely as firefox is still in beta testing... but it is pretty solid.

I wish stock could delete cache, cookies, history, passwords, and etc when exiting like dolphin. You don't need possibly embarrassing things popping up when you're entering a URL and your old lady is standing next to you.
Dolphin HD. I like the home button, gestures and the bookmark setup of this browser. I also like opera mini mostly for the way the startup/bookmarks page works.
I think Mozilla Firefox or Dolphin Browser HD would be good for the Speedy. I mean it is a "HD" Phone right?
Comign from steel (the most minimalistic browser ever) I don't need any fancy stuff, just quick and functional. Bookmarks, flash, and such. I am more looking for sleek.

I use the stock 2.2 browser now, but before that I tried them all. Dolphin was my favorite, but it seemed slow. I think you might would like xScope, but its a paid app. There is a trial though. https://market.android.com/details?id=sui.m
Had Dolphin and Dolphin HD on my hero but then went back to stock because the hero just wasn't powerful enough for dolphin. Just recently switched back to Dolphin HD on my Shift. Seems faster than the stock browser.
I'm on opera mini now ant if the zoom wasn't so funky it would be perfect, def seems faster

I use Dolphin Mini almost exclusively. It's small, fast, and can delete history automatically on exit.
I used to delete my browsing history. MOD EDIT: Really not needed, this is a global phone forum.
(Sorry MOD) What I meant was, I'm an adult. I've no need to hide my history.

Dolphin HD is absolutely amazing. It's atleast as fast as stock, easier to switch from desktop to mobile view, and it will delete history on exit. And you can make flash on demand (and flash plays in browser) win!

I regularly delete all forms of history from my phone, laptops, and PC. It has nothing to do with being an adult and more to do with getting rid of automatically filled in information, cookies, etc. Information that advertisers use when tracking across web sites and that other people can use if the device is stolen and lost.

I as well regularly delete my histories. Cache's are nice to keep, as they load regularly visited pages faster.

I've been an Opera user on desktop since before I was on Android so I was bummed to find out it didnt yet have flash support. Months and months of using Dolphin Browsers waiting for Opera to get flash with no updates or blog posts about it was starting to make me think the.project got abandoned. Well.. just opened up Market and there it is. Some changes include flash support and ui changes. Just thought id alert all the other opera fans incase you didn't know.

Thank you for that. I ve been waiting for that for long time too. Opera mini on older java enabled phones is awesome so is opera desktop on computer.
I've never been a fan of Opera Mobile, doesn't render pages very well and has a bunch of other quirks. I'll probably check it out though.
Been messing with with since I posted this and the first thing I noticed is the UI is gorgeous. Pages seem to render properly and on large pages most of the content is already viewable while the rest loads. Also the scrolling is still smooth even while loading finishes. SO awesome to finally have my bookmarks and speeddail back.
Also I noticed the browser does use significantly more memory than others. I didn't notice any lag with my phone will opera sat in the background though.
YouTube videos play on the full site smoother than I've seen on any other android browser.
Now I need to try it with Turbo mode on.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
What is the big difference(s) between Opera Mobile and Opera Mini? I see that Mini was just updated to 6.0.
Opera mobile renders pages client side and you have access to your bookmarks. And now has flash.
Opera mini renders server side. And if I remember correctly you can only save bookmarks to your opera account but can't get full access to your bookmarks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
It's definitely my favorite browser now.
I've used Dolphin (HD & Mini), Firefox, xScope, Miren, Skyfire and Boat Browser but Opera Mobile 11 suits me the most. It's simple, beautiful yet very fast and functional.
For those who don't want pages to be compressed, just turn off Opera Turbo. You have a choice to let it render server side or locally.
ive always been a dolphin fan...but it is very bloated, and can be laggy.
opera lacks features, but is very lightweight and extremely speedy.
just upgraded my opera version and right away, upon opening, the UI looks so much sleeker. my only complaint as of now is not being able to set a homepage. like looking at google right when i open my browser
also, theres no "exit" button......i want the option of either pressing the "home" button and leaving my browser open in the background, or clicking exit so my browser completely shuts down.
EDIT: one more gripe....cant add bookmark shortcuts to homescreen or folders
------
i know it sounds like im being overly negative, but dont read too much into it. im seriously ocnsidering dropping dolphin for this. which says a lot cause ive only used dolphin since i started using android altogether. im just sharing observations and *****ing out loud .....still a fantastic browser!
I think the lack of a homepage is to promote the speeddail. I too wish for a exit button but since the task manager is only a long press away its not that big of a deal to me.

Its just like firefox. Type opera:config in address bar and hit enter and it will take you to configuration settings. Scroll all the way down to user pref and expand it and you will find what you are looking for.
1.type opera:config
2. user preferences
3. custom user agent
4. paste this Opera/9.80 (Linux; en) Presto/2.7.81 Version/11.00
5. save & restart browser.

ps. tried Firefox on my Nexus One.....didn't feel like its complete...but web pages loaded a bit faster then on Opera, at least they did a few times that i tested.
Mine right now is dolphin and Google chrome. Dolphin because 1# Im used to it. I am getting sick of it because it freezes and make wait sometimes. Chrome is very nice but flash does not work.
Tried Dolphin but there is no option to always show the tabs.
Currently I'm using Xscope, it always shows tabs, uses GPU acceleration and supports flash.
Overskreen
It works faster than stock/Chrome and the only thing it is missing is Find On Page. Give me that feature and I'll forever forget the other 2 browsers.
Opera, because its the only one without "wait" issues. if I need flash, I'll open the android default browser.

Opera Mobile primarily with Chrome a close second. Opera Mini when I don't need flash. Opera is my primary browser on my laptop, sooooo I am use to it OKs it syncs all my bookmarks. I also feel that Opera Mobile is quicker and works better in a few situations than Chrome.

I'm using Dolphin now, used to be Boat but that just crashes WAY too much.
I can't seem to import bookmarks from my desktop with the other browsers so I can't use them.
Using Xscope and with no problem so far. Used dolphing but sometimes crashes when trying to open flash content, and facebook.com in desktop view is buggy.
I've been using ICS Browser+, although I will say that I do get the "wait" issue from time to time... it's still a very smooth browser and I like the gestures ability. On top of that (literally), I use Overskreen when I want to wikipedia something I'm reading, or if I want to do a translation.
Boat is smooth for me, but only when the page is fully loaded. Opera Mobile is fast at rendering, but panning around the page gets that weird ghosting looking that hurts my eyes.

Look on the market for rotation locker, it's a pink icon in the shape of an L. When you launch it, it will give you a menu, long press landscape or portrait, and you shouldn't have issues.
It also has a tasker plugin which I use on my phone for FPSE to keep it landscape, then set back to auto when I exit FPSE.

Using Opera Mobile Labs now. Think someone linked it on another thread in this sub forum. You can't get it in Play Store but if you do a Google search you should find the apk easily. It is in testing and by far the best mobile browsing experience ever. Using it on my Prime and my Evo 3D

Chrome Beta i have zero issues with lag it syncs wiht my phone and desktop bookmarks and im pretty much signed in on all my fav spots. Can't wait for it to loose the beta tag
I'm pretty satisfied with the stock browser, in my testing chrome was sometimes much slower, I believe when browsing asus website about firmware updates.
also IIRC it doesn't have the cool "slider button" on the right side of the screen as the stock browser has, which allows to scrolly the whole page quickly.
