Hi, thought it was just the go launcher causing this but it looks to be an issue with the phone. Sometimes screen presses don't register, seems a bit random, where pressing harder always work. Seems to me sensitivity has been set a bit to low. Anyone else noticing this or is it just me?
Just you mate, capacitive screens don't respond to harder presses especially since the S2 has a gorilla glass display, what phone are you coming from?
I know that but it really does work better if my press is harder or more defined if you want to put it that way. I come from a HD2, no issues with that, could be a duff screen.
edit: ok there is something wrong here, now it starting bring down the the notifications bar when i click on some icons, odd behaviour.
wonder if its something to do with my phone being set to 190 density, I will have a play
no joy with density change, think my screen is duff.
seems to be a latency issue with the digitiser, if I do a quick touch, say like i am typing it doesnt register at all when I click an icon, if I click and hold an icon for slightly longer (not long enough to bring up the screen edit it options)it is ok, which is why i suggested that pressing harder made it work, its not the pressure its the time my finger is held against the screen, a sensitivity issue, its like the software is being told to ignore light touches.
Typing texts etc is ok, just seems to be an issue on the desktop and drawer when I am selecting icons.

Ok I noticed this little issue with the touch screen.
Maybe this is how it is meant to work but just wondering if its the same for everyone.
Basically when you first touch the screen and then move your finger in tiny movements back and forward like 2-3 pixels distance the screen just recognises your initial place you touched. It doesnt recognise the little movements. You have to make a bigger movement with your finger and then the screen starts recognising these tiny movements.
Its like its been set up with software to only track your finger if it moves a minimum distance. If this distance is not met then keep the original place where the screen was touched.
Best way to see this is get a multitouch test app from the market. Basically just one that gives you a dot under your finger when you touch the screen.
Touch the screen and move your finger in tiny movements back and forward. Like really tiny (2-3 pixels in distance)
Does the dot move or does it stay there like its stuck ?
Then you have to make a bigger movement with your finder before the dot starts moving. But after that you can do those tiny movements you did before and the dot moves.
Hope someone understands what i'm saying.
My old phone didnt do that.
Someone try this please
What about touch screen settings are their any ??

Same result for me, very small movements of the finger are not registred...
I think the touch screen driver needs work or calibration, see other posts regarding screen sensitivity, screen doesnt pickup light touches sometimes, sometimes I have to make a defined press on the screen for it to work. I have decided I dont mind this now as it is less likely to pickup accidental presses but I still think it is a little under sensitive.
The thing is if you make a big movement and then with your finger still held on the screen make little small movements it recognises them. Its only when you first touch the screen it doesnt recognise the small movements.

Maybe for typing etc so you dont accidently hit another key.
Anyone else able to confirm ? See if it detects tiny movements when you first touch the screen, and then move your finger around for a bit and then try tiny movements it should work then

Yup, definitely not a bug IMHO - just tried while playing angry birds and it nails it to the half pixel - there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I find the lack of registration of small touches a major plus, I suppose they should add a menu to disable it for those who don't like it

I know exactly what you're talking about.
Here is a test for all of you, go onto a webpage, view it at it's native resolution, which will be bigger than your screen res.
1) Drag the screen at 180 angle directly horizontally, say to the right do this slowly and move the screen a bit.
2) Now try scrolling the screen upwards or downward, slowly and carefully without taking your finger off the screen.
3) you should find that the screen is now not responding to your careful touch to scroll in a different direction you originally was scrolling.
4) given that you seem to be locked into scrolling left or right only, drag fast and long distance either upwards or downwards (or diagonally)
5) hey presto, you can now scroll in any direction again with movements as small as you like
Its weird on angry birds, it detects these really small movements.
But on Nova HD for dragging the camera it doesnt detect these really small movements.
However if you make a big movement it then will detect the really small movements as long as you don't take your finger off the screen or you have to start over again.
Another way to see this, is on the lock screen.
Touch the lock image wait a few seconds then move your finger like 2 pixels left and right (really small amount).
The lock image won't move at all. However if you then make a big movement so the lock image starts moving (and keeping your finger still on the screen) then move your finger 2 pixels left and right it moves.
Touch the image and wait a few seconds , then move your finger
Seems like its something to do with software. Not sure how angry birds manages to avoid it.
I reckon it can be patched so it doesnt act like this. I wouldnt have a clue how to do it tho. Someone might tho
Anyone tried it on the lock screen? Same thing ?

This?
Yep thats it there ^^^ . Thanks.
Hopefully it can be modded. Looks like samsung added a minimum threshold
Yeah I hope so too... looks very annoying.

Its annoying when playing nova hd trying to move the crosshair
I'm having issues with the touchscreen sensitivity. I think someone already reported it here, but they weren't very clear.
Basically some very specific points of the screen don't respond. I noticed it initially when I had to tap multiple times to launch the app launcher and when the letter "L" on the keyboard didn't respond consistently. When I did some testing, I couldn't get the ripple response when I tapped that certain area. I also did the touch diagnostic and although the squares all turn green if I just run my finger over the boxes, as expected, if I just tap the specific areas I'm talking about, the squares don't change color. Now, these touch "dead spots" are very specific areas of the screen; it's not an entire side of the screen or anything.
So in short some points on the screen do not respond to touch at all. I don't know if the spots are consistent or not. Seems like the dead spots move around...but I'm not sure. I don't know if it's a common problem or not. Send to HP to fix??? sounds like a major pita....

There's a problem with the keyboard of my girlfriend's SK17i and I don't know whether it is a software or hardware problem.
The problem in question is a over-sensitive key, in which for this case, it's the "f" key. Whenever she uses the pop out keyboard, the "f" key seems to be jammed and it would infest any of my messages with a bombardment of "f"'s, making it extremely irritating to use. It's gotten to the point where she don't actually have to press down on the key, all she has to do is slide her finger across it and it would register on multiple occasions. In addition, it would also register if she were to press the other keys around the "f" key, rendering the keyboard almost completely useless.
Furthermore, the extent of the problem actually affects the phone whilst the screen is off; at times, she would wake up in the morning and if she was on whatsapp, the messaging bar would be full of "f"'s and if she was on the homescreen instead, the phone would automatically open up the browser and the search bar would also be full of "f"'s. Moreover, it also affects the on screen keyboard, albeit not as much but at times, the phone would seem to be registering "f"'s as it thinks that the pop out keyboard is in use. Therefore, the on screen keyboard is also becoming highly irritating to use.
I don't know how to fix this and it seems the more likely to be a hardware problem but if anyone seems to have this problem and was able to fix it through a software solution, please let me know as she loves this phone and she don't want to get rid of it! Thanks in advance!
Does the button itself still behave correctly, like you can press it?
It seems more like hardware failure to me.
About those f's, doesn't lockscreen prevent that from happening, while screen is off?
She can still press down the key and it clicks which means that it works and isn't jammed.
As for the lockscreen situation, she didn't actually press down the lock button because she assumes that once the screen goes black, it automatically locks and it does on any android phone. Maybe the "f" key is stopping it from actually self locking.
Also, she says that whenever she presses down on any other key, it has a bit of resistance but on the "f" key, it feels flimsy. We both assume that it is a hardware problem but we just wanted a second opinion.
Thanks in advance!
If it feels "flimsy" then it doesn't behave correctly, IMHO.
Have you tried resetting the phone to factory defaults? If not, give that a try (backup first!), although I doubt it will make any difference.

Exactly. That part blocks it from locking.
It does seem a hardware problem, because there is no such thing as button sensitivity. What I mean, is that key is damaged and is touching the sensor(a small button on chip likely).
If you still have warranty, take it back to shop.
Thanks for the advice! She'll take it back to the seller with the warranty (bought it online with 12 month warranty)
***Nevermind This post. I figured out why this is happening. It was becuase 'use vertical swip to change to symbols' was ticked and apparently just a micron swipe is trigging this on my phone, i type too fast for this option, Turning it off has seemed to fix my problem.****
This is a wierd topic i'm sure, I'm wondering if anyone else ever gets ghost hits on their screen when typing with the on screen keyboard.
I use the regular built in keyboard, no custom rom, no root, nothing, and it seems like 1 out of every 3 or 4 messages i'm typing my keyboard will randomly switch to the symbols, its annoying as hell and I cant figure it out.
You might think "He's probably hitting the key while typing" but its in the lower left corner, and sometimes it will happen when my left hand isn't even typing, i'll be going to hit the I key with my right thumb and BAM i'm in symbols now... I dont know if its exactly the same key every time I cant seem to quite reproduce the problem, it just randomly happens and its irritating.
I'm wondering if there could be some kind of link to the screen protector causing this or not? It's a clearvue screen protector.. I've also noticed when playing around with the screen, that sometimes I can get my fingre sooo close that it actually detects a response, and my finger hasn't even touched the screen yet! IS there some sensitivity thing i can adjust or something? cuz i dont know whats up with this wierdness...
Anyone else?
Hi all, i received my Verizon Galaxy Edge on friday and the phone is perfect, but i'm having a issue. I've looked everywhere to see if others are having the same issue as me but nothing, zip, nada.
The issue im having is with the touch screen, lets just say i'm texting, i normally keep my left thumb near the volume down button, kinda touching the edge screen but not really much, well im texting and sometimes i dont have to be pressing the keyboard, but its the issue with the left edge screen, it's making it press in the center where my thumb would be. i've turned on to show my input presses and all that and its confirmed the center of the screen touch input when i'm only touching the edge. any help or issues? does this sound more of a hardware defect or a software defect?
This is weird. I'm kinda having the same problem, but not "frequently". I wonder if other people do. I think it has to do with our palm/fingers accidentally for a short period of time so it registers as a touch, then if you were already touching somewhere else then it'd mess up and register the touch in a random place, but I'm not sure. For me it isn't in the centre but it's annoying when it happens.
Well its not all the time dead center, but yeah its annoying. We might have same issue
an update, today i was typing on facebook and i noticed my right thumb was kind of near the L key but it was recognizing presses with my other hand without touching the screen (heat presses) tried to get the video but it went back to normal 5 seconds after the video, will record when it happens again.
Hello,
For touch screen problem try this:
-in dialer type *#2663#
-TSP firmware update (general)
You should see "PASS"
That have solve my touch screen problem...
