Odin not working for me? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to root On Win 7 64bit
Odins COM turns yellow i hit start and wait 10+ min and nothing happens? How long does it take to apply the root?
I've tired different USB ports and it does the same thing, Kies is installed phone is set to USB debugging mode and in download mode.

Looks like you either have a file that is broken or the wrong format or wrong instructions .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Follow the root instruction from above post .
jje

I'm a little confused though going by the link you posted it says to install the firmware then install the insecure KDD kernel then install the secure kernel.
Why do you need to install the firmware first when i'm already using the newest version?
BTW i re-tried to root using this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056334
Odin still just sits there even after i re-dowloaded the files.
Thanks for the help!

Install USB drivers again via Kies .
But i repeat it looks like you are directing Odin to a wrong file .
Name that file and what box its going into in Odin .
It should be for root
PDA >>>>>>> SGS2 i9100\XWKDD_insecure.tar
Latest firmware KE2 then just pick up root instructions .
jje

Here's a image, I used a different PC this time. It will just sit at SetupConnection..

Looks 100% CORRECT .
One put file on desktop Odin should find that that fails try a new download .

I tryed on the desktop as well still no luck. How long should it take to flash?
BTW the phone shows
Installing Multi-CSC
can't access to /system/csc/XEU/system
Successfully applied multi-csc
would that have anything to do with it?

If your flashing a kernel it should take the best part of 10 seconds...
I get the Multi-CSC error too...don't think its anything to worry about.

Not really sure what was wrong but thanks!

[Q] Flashing fail

I've got stock XWLPD firmware in my phone and I tried to flash CF-Root in it.
After clicking start button, Odin started to check for SetupConnection. It took under a minute and then it said: "Can't open the serial (COM) port" and the red Fail! thing popped up.
What's wrong and how to fix this?
I've got a picture of it:

Do you have drivers installed? If you installed Kies, then you have drivers. But also make sure Kies isn't running when you run Odin; they don't play well together.
Looks like I don't have some SM Bus Controller. I tried to update it but Windows Update doesn't find right drivers and I'm not sure what's the right driver if I try to update it manually.
KIES says I've got a new official XWLPG firmware update. Is it possible that updating my phone would fix my drivers?
I just didn't want to update it yet because I can't find it from XDA if I need to flash it back after trying to root again...

check your pm mate
Yes, I made it!
I tried to update all drivers but that didn't work very well.
Then I uninstalled and then reinstalled KIES and downloaded the drivers again and now it works and I've got a rooted phone now.

Odin FLash hangs at NAND Write Start

FIXED: My own stupid. I also have a SGS2 and was using the wrong image as they a named similarly and reside in the same folder.
Hi all,
I wanted to flash teh stock Firmware to my S3 and Odin hangs at NAND Write Start.
Phone: Galaxy S3 International Version
Carrier: O2 Germany
What I have done before:
1. I was tired of waiting for OTA updates by my Carrier so I went to samfirmware.com and flashed the latest Firmware they had for my Phone (German Open; XXALF6). - No Problems
2. Since I like root, I flashed CF 6.4.
3. I installed TriangleAway and reset the flash counter.
Thats it, no further modifications.
Now, since my CSC actually seems able to deliver OTA updates and I want them, I decided to get the original Firmware from samfirmware for my CSC (XXALE8). But when I try to flash it via Odin, it hangs at "NAND Write Start" without any progress.
When I get bored and simply disconnect the USB cable, this does not hurt the phone, but i want the original Firmware on my phone again.
Any suggestions? I am open for anything but would prefer if it didn't involve wiping/factory resetting the phone.

Help required think i've bricked my phone :(

Hi...
I was playing around with my phone earlier and not playing close attention to what I was doing (nagging wife in background) I decided to flash a new ROM and I didn't notice I flashed a 19100G on my 19100. As I wasn't looking what I was doing something flashed up on the screen and poof! Well now my phone wont start and it stuck on the Galaxy S2 start screen.
I was previously using CM10 and had CWM recovery installed.
Is this a brick or soft brick and how can i fix it?
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you :crying:
can you get back into recovery or download mode
try reboot into download mode.
i once installed something, and after reboot, it wasnt going further than the samsung logo and screen flashes. so wasnt getting into CWM.
only way out was going to download mode, and flash an odin-capable rom. (bizarrely, the rom worked very well with my phone, longer batt life, performance, etc. ..
Download mode:
Power your phone completely off and make sure it isn't plugged in via USB.
While holding the Volume Down rocker and the Home key press and hold the Power Button.
I just got into download mode.
Just downloading an odin capable rom.
Will report back in a little while
Thanks
Okay so I downloaded Odin and a recovery file but when I start Odin I get a yellow box but no numbers?
I chose a the recovery file (PIT) and pressed start but got a failed message in red.

In ODIN you should choose file in PDA. not PIT.
And you should find the file your looking for here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
if there is only .tar choose pda
other way
phone - pda
csc - csc
modem - phone
edit : btw i think your phone is not bricked.
First of all you are in the wrong thread..And your phone is not bricked..Just follow the instructions given above to use odin to flash a stock Rom. You will be fine
I downloaded I9100XWLPT for UK Europe and used Odin v3.04 and all went okay. Phone is back up and running again now
Thank you so much for your help! I really thought I was frazzled there for a minute lol! That will teach me to flash and not pay attention...next time I will have to make sure the wife isn't around
I guess I am now back on stock and will have to re-root my little baby?
Again thank you for all your help...I went into panic mode for a little bit and my mind got clouded so I could not see a solution. I knew it had to be something so easy.
Very much appreciated :good:
And sorry it's in the wrong section, where should I have posted it? If there is a friendly neighborhood admin around could he please move it to the correct place?
Thank you

Download this: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/i9305T/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-i9305T.tar . Open Odin, connect the p[hone in "Download mode" , click Pd, and choose this file. then click start. because you have no OS, I think it will boot straight to TWRP. If not, open yourself by holding Volume UP+Power+Home at the same time. And about the arrier, I don't think it will be a problem. Just in case your phone brakesa nd you want to take to a service, it may detect that you changed the software(Even if it is an original one from SamMobile). But this cases are very rare. Except that, you will be able to use your phone normally just as you did until now !
You have I9305T ???
This is I9300 forum not for your phone please do not flash I9300 firmware .
There are two non Telstra roms listed on sammobile for GT-I9305T

[Q] GT-I9300 Stuck on Bootloop,Error Mounting /efs !

Hey all
Today around 9AM I woke up and Checked everything on my phone,Everything was fine until around 1PM I came to my phone just to find out it ran out of battery,i Plugged it in and it was charging
after charging was Complete , I turned it on and got stuck on bootscreen
Every possible thing is on Stock(Rom,Kernel,Even Unrooted) , I Got it to Recovery mode and it said something like "Mounting /efs Failed (Invalid Argument)" ,I read Couple of Tuts and tried to fix it using adb (Here)
I flashed CWM 6.0.4.3 , But I Can't get adb to Recognize my phone,I have kies on my pc and I've installed all the drivers, yet my pc fails to recognize my phone
Any thoughts on how to get My PC to Recognize my phone while it's in CwM Recovery mode ? or any other ways to Fix this Son of a Biscuit?
P.S. Running XXUGML2 Firmware
I will be more than grateful if anyone could help me :fingers-crossed:

Thanks for Your reply
Is there any way that I can just get Windows to Recognize the phone ?? and From there use "adb shell" Command to fix it ?
My problem is about /efs Partition and I don't think Flashing a Rom will Fix that
AFAIK efs Related Semi-Softbricks are the hardest ones to solve and I haven't even FLashed One thing on my device my Counter was Zero before I Flashed CWM Recovery , It's Not Fair !
Edit: Seriously ! I've been looking Everywhere but there is simply no article about "How to get adb Recognize GT-I9300 in CWM Recovery mode" It seems like No one knows how to do this (
