hi,
i wanted to ask if google talk for 2.3.4 works on archos 101?? or does fring video call supports archos 101??
thanks
The latest Fring works well with the Archos 70. I would imagine it would work fine with the 101 as well.
I have done some tests with a friend that has fring on his 101, and it is not really working well on that one.

Hm, i'll test this on mine, because the A70 and the A101 have completly same specs
Tango works.

Fring works for me on my A70 video calling to Galaxy S. Not great image given the res, but works.
ske714 is right, tango works well enough. but i doubt we'll ever get skype now....
@lennb:
no they are not.
the 101 has a higher resolution

Has anyone tried the hacked Skype APK that has an option to force-enable video calling?

Tried a few mins ago. Doesn't work once you attempt to enable camera. Won't connect. Supposedly, Skype with video doesn't support the Tegra 2 chipset.

It does via Skypekit. nVidia showed it off over 7 months ago. Skype is just being a hot bowl of dicks about it for some reason.
Is skype working on their mobile app to support video calling anytime soon?

Well video calling works on other phones, just not the photon.

Skype is SUPPOSEDLY working on a Tegra 2 compatible version. nVidia built one months ago so I have no idea why it isn't out yet unless it's something political.
Skype's current build uses NEON. Tegra 2 doesn't support NEON.

Gee, I wounder if the reason could be Google Talk?
No idea. GTalk with video calling is supposed to hit the Photon with the next update.
This problem is over now.
Skype now officially supports the Photon for video calling along with a number of other tegra 2 devices.

Hi guys and gals,
I've recently bought an Archos 101 Internet Tablet with 16GB as a real bargain (169 Euro) and now it's lying still boxed on my table and I ask myself, what should I do
BTW, is this a GEN8 oder GEN9 device?
I thought that this could be a great deal when it's possible to install CyanogenMod 7.x on the 101 - but as I read for now this is not that easy as I thought
There's obviously a way installing CM7 over openAOS, but with massive restrictions like not-working
Audio
Bluetooth
Accelerometer
accelerated Video decoding
Suspend
TS calibration on A28/A32/A43
This is really disappointing, because I really like CM7 ported to other devices I know...
So, back to my thread-title: should I unbox the 101 and start to use it, hoping that CM7 will work on it without any restrictions one fine day? Or shoud I send it back to the seller and get my money back?
And: what alternative cheap tablet with Android, a big community AND the ability to install a "normal" CM7 should I buy?
Best regards and thanks for your thoughts

Hi,
you have a Gen 8 tablet. I haven't tried CM7 on my tablet yet (Doesn't look stable enough for me yet), but have you looked into Urukdroid? It is fully functional, and adds some neat things like being able to use a DVB stick to watch TV.
The first alternative tablet I can think of is the Nook Color. I hear that has CM7, and is about the same price (150 euros).
If all you want to do is play video and you're stuck on the 150 price range, go with the 101 for the price, although the screen is terrible. CM7 runs very well on the Nook Color, but it's a 7" screen and video playback is terrible. For very little extra money you can get either the kindle fire or nook tablet and have something much better.

To rectify some things on RC bull release openAOS:
Audio works for CM7
Bluetooth works for CM7
Accelerometer works for CM7
accelerated Video decoding is not working for CM7
Suspend is working, however there still seem to be some issues
TS calibration for A32 and A43 is working A28 we do not support
Is it a stable release? No far from that it still needs a lot of work.

hi,
i am very unhappy about the build in microfon of my transformer 101.
i am so disappointed, that i wonder if i should sell my 101 and buy a 201.
how is the mic quality of the prime? is it better? are there any comparison
videos from users owning both devices yet?
and if it as crapy as the one from the 101, is there any hardwaremod
thats replaces the build in one with a better one yet?
thank you. still hoping that ics makes a difrent about the mic settings,
but with no big hope :/

I can only offer anecdotal evidence, FWIW.
I had 2 Acer A500 tablets, both of which had very poor mics. It was a design problem, I think. I like voice input, so resolved to look at TF Prime to see whether the TF-201 had done a better job.
When I got my Prime Dec 28 that was the first thing I tried, and am happy to say, that at least on my instance, it had decent mic and voice input recognition. That should be the case, as voice input is emphasized on upcoming ICS.
I can't compare voice on TF-201 to that on 101, but it was better than on A500, and adequate for me.
Unfortunately there were other issues for me with Prime.
i know that when skyping or gchatting on my tf201 prime i have not had 1 problem as of yet
may one of you try a selfrecording with the record app
and analyse if its good or poor quality?
the google voice recognition is pointless because its
85% working on my 101 too, but recording myself
or even skyping is so bad in quality that its no fun.
thanks
The Mic is perfect (it got even two I think). I picked up the tablet yesterday and called a friend on skype. He first thought that I was behind my PC (I use a logitech G35 headset there, so a very good one)

I've checked the details tab on a supposedly 720P video and reports correctly that the video is 1280 by 720 however when I access the file from my computer it reports the resolution is 864 by 480. Anyone else experience the same problem?

There's something like six different x201 models so no clue if your device records in 720P or not as you did not say what device you are asking about.
Oh I'm sorry. I got the Omate Truesmart 1GB RAM and 8GB Storage version for the US. Also a non-developer model.
Every Omate firmware, since at least December, records in 720P. You do however have to set your TS to record at 720P.
You need to change it to 720, it doesn't record that way default.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I don't see an option for 720P. I've got the video quality set to Fine and that is coming out 864x480 on the computer.

This is something I'll have to look into. All previous videos I did were 720P and the most recent one was 480P (16:9).

Could it be a possibility that my smartwatch has out of date firmware? The Custom build version that is on it is "Omate_Truesmart_20140120.154604_V2.0"
Don't do anything with the firmware. It's being looked into, as well as an easy fix. No promises.
OK. So where are the proper channels to check for updates for the truesmart?
If your are referring to a change log and firmware list like most others have. There is none.
Basically hit "check for updates" and hope the OTA server is working or wait til somebody notices their firmware is different than everybody else.
Huh. That's a shame. Even free software developers do that.
I get a ringing when I try and record video. The real sound does come through as well, but the ringing is quite loud and annoying.

Anyone with the same issue?
Omate kick starter 1/8 1900 Dev version, I only see videobquality low/high/fine. Max I see is 864x480
Only 864 by 480

Same with my Omate TS 1/8 2100, which came in yesterday. I cannot find any way to change that. Even apps like LG Camera which worked for me on other devices achieve only 864 by 480 as max. resolution. Any ideas are highly appreciated.

My TS 1/8 2100 is on 20140328-1829 - OTA update says, that this is the latest version.
You think that another version might resolve this issue?
Edit: I searched all day, but found no solution: is there any way to get a true 720p video recording with the 1/8 2100 TS and the above mentioned firmware? Any help / hint is highly appreciated
Edit 2: Nobody who could help me? I have no idea what to change to get real 720p video resolution

Nope don't get that with mine.
@steff_1964: The 720P problem seems to be a firmware issue from what I've been told. I'm just waiting for updates.

Since there are at least 4 different hardware revisions, I wonder if Omate ever will offer OTA updates... I feel being fooled as 720p recording was one of the biggest reasons to get the TrueSmart. And I found no workaround so far to get 720p working on the 1/8 2100 version.
Could anybody post an unedited 720p sample video clip to allow me to judge its quality?
Thanks in advance!
Update does not change much...

I installed the latest OTA update 2 days ago (without unrooting my watch, but I lost root, and framaroot doesn't work any longer. Though I could reinstall TWRP, I was not able to boot into recovery. So my backups weren't much useful. Finally I flashed an older firmware, with TWRP recovery.img instead of the original one, booted into recovery, and could then restore my backup).
During the time I used the updated version I still had only 480p video resolution. No 3rd party camcorder app could so far get rid of this limit, while some are capable to increase the video bit rate and therefor the video quality.
(A little bit off topic, but may help eventually anyways: MTKdroid tools do not work during folder mount has mounted any folders! Also a USB data connection will only show the external SD card (and this one even not completely) during any folders are mounted. Unmounting folders with folder mount does also not work once a USB connection was established without rebooting the watch. It took me a while to figure that out).
I would appreciate any hints how to increase the video recording resolution up to 720p on the European 1/8 2100 version! Thanks in advance!

Bought a chromecast last week.... And must say I'm impressed . screen mirroring works exactly like mhl did with my m7 if not better. (And it still only in beta status)
1080p looks amazing used it throgh popcorntime app on phone and thought laptop.
I do not have a 4k TV so wouldn't be able to tell you about how well this works.
My sister was so impressed to she bought one the next day to go with her s6.
Hope this helps
