I am a new user of Android in China. I got my new ATT Atrix 4G last thursday. When I played it last Saturday, I met a problem. When I was trying to import the SIM contacts, I followed the following commands from the internet, I diled *#*#4636#*#*, then I choose "phone information". I happed to enter "Select radio band" and there is only one option, i.e. USA band. After I selected this, my sim card can not be registered. After I searched this issue in the internet, the solution is to update the baseband firmware.
So far, I searched the firmware in the xda-developers, I found all the firmware are system related. Where can I download the latest baseband firmware? How to flash it?
Can anyone helps? Thanks very a lot!
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem, I've tried all the baseband and the rom I could find... and still have the same problem. Seems impossible to change the radio band...

ok this phone a brand new, i can receive calls and text but when i dial a number and try to make a call the phone restarts
This is factory unlocked and not rooted
Try flashing a newer radio rom.
I dont want to root it incase i cant get the original rom back.
It is weird as, i have tried with every sim card to make calls and it works but when i put the 3 sim in does plays up
We experienced the same issue on some Turkish networks as well and flashing a newer radio rom fixed the problem. Flashing roms and rooting are totally different. What you need is a newer version of your current baseband ( radio rom ) sbf and official motorola software flasher " RSD Lite 5.3 "
Hope it helps.
Thank you so much for that Semseddin.
My problem solved, i just flashed it using RSD lite 4.9
Thanks everyone
Hi. I've been having the exact same issue. I've got an unlocked AT&T Atrix and I'm trying to use a Three UK sim (I'm in the UK). I'm a bit new to the world of android, can someone post a link to an appropriate Radio Rom?
Thanks for any help!!
OK after a little more web searching I've found a (sort of) solution -
"Here's a quick fix for it thou, (not permanent)....
1. type *#*#4636#*#* on the dialer
2. Chose Phone Information
3. Set preferred network to GSM only
Viola...its fixed
problem with this fix is that you wont be able to use your 3G network but the dialer should be working."
Problem is of course that you can't use your 3G connection. Hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.

Why is it always 3 that cause a problem?
When the Nokia N900 came out, that wouldn't work with 3 initially until a couple of updates later!

May not work for Pay as you go? I didn't think that it had 2G fall back?
Hi,
I´ve been having a serious issue with my phone.
- I´m not using the phone, people call me and get a busy signal.
- I´ve tried calling my self from a landline and realized this is true.
- I´ve tested calling my home´s landline and got a weird beeping sound and then the call was not completed.
- I´ve rebooted the phone and the issue was fixed, but after a while it reocured.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
I was just wondering if its a SIM issue (rather than phone). Maybe try a different SIM and see if there's a different result?

- I´ve cleaned the SIM card and the SIM card slot, put it back in and made a couple of teste. I keep getting the busy signal even when the phone is not being used. Now even after I reboot the issue sometimes happens....or if it doesn´t happen it starts happening after the phone goes to sleep.
Could this be the phone´s modem? This is a serious issue.
You can flash a new modem from the modem thread .Or ask for a new sim card .

I got the lastest "Test Mode" firmware from the program "Check Fus Downloader" for you.
Product Code: GT-I9100LKAEPL
Latest firmware: I9100XWKF3/I9100EPLKE4/I9100XXKE7/I9100XWKF3
Is this the correct one??? If so you could try the following if you already have root and CWM Recovery installed;
Type into your phone dialer *#1234# and write download your existing 'Phone' (Modem) version, just incase you wish to reflash that.
[MODEM] Main modem XX versions flashable through CWM
Immediately before flashing, I suggest you take nnote of signal strength; Phone Menu / Settings / About Phone / Status, you can then compare.
Download the closest matching modem and flash through CWM Recovery. The closest I can see is XXKF2.
If you still have no luck, could also try the latest one as well. Be aware for any change in signal strength, quality, not obtaining 3G, H, H= etc.
Hope this helps
Hi I have recently rooted and unlocked my S2. It recognises any sim put into it but if i try to make a call i get 'not registered on network' error. Apart from this the phone is in fully working order. I have set up manually the APN and recognises the sim but still get error.
Any help much appreciated.
Check your IMEI in settings/about phone/status. If it begins with '0044...' (whatever you do, do not post your actual IMEI number here !) you've found the source of your problem.
If your IMEI is OK, two possibilities that spring to mind are the phone is IMEI blocked (check with your carrier) or your carrier hasn't set something up properly at their end (again, check with them).
Hi, thanks for the reply. My IMEI no starts 3533 should this be ok? I also have signal on my phone but in settings says disconnected. I have also tried other sims but have same issue. Do you think i should contact the network or samsung direct or is there anything i can try?
Thanks again

How exactly did you root your phone? Did you flash a new kernel only? Or also a new rom?
Because new roms also tend to flash a new modem in to the phone. Although this is not common, but a modem can change the way the phone talks to the cellphone carrier. Check in your "about" sections under settings whats your "baseband". Note that you can flash a new modem independently from the rom and kernel

OK this makes sense I did flash a new ROM the baseband number is I9100XXLPQ. Does it matter what modem I use and should this match the baseband?
I am having the exact same problem with 2 different carriers, it only shows a 3rd carrier in dominican republic which is claro and i have not been able to test it with a claro sim card, how did you guys resolve the problem.?
Hi Guys,
2 months ago I bought a Samsung s5 in Hong Kong.
While travelling through South East Asia this device worked fine.
While traveling through New Zealand (Old home) this phone worked fine.
While traveling through America (New Home) this phone worked fine for the first 2 weeks (on the metroPCS network).
The problem:
Randomly after 2 weeks the s5 stopped connecting to the metroPCS mobile network even though the network was available (btw metroPCS uses the T-Mobile network). It gives errors such as network not available or cannot register with network.
Things I have tried:
-Im sure the APN settings of the phone have not changed and I have double checked to see if they are correct.
-replacing the sim card with another does not fix the issue
-soft and hard reset of the phone does not fix the issue
-Getting metroPCS to refresh the service on this number does not fix the issue
Other important info:
-This phone was purchased in hong kong but it is from the Philippians according to Kies's firmware information (XTC is the country code)
-It is running a custom allianceROM that must have been installed by someone in hongkong
-The device is rooted (superuser app installed)
-the model number as shown in settings is g900f BUT when attempting to flash with odin the phone displays g900t and fails to flash the latest Philippians verison of kit-kat
I have 2 questions:
1. Any ideas why my network connection has suddenly self destructed (and how to fix)?
2. Would flashing a stock ROM to my s5 help? and if so why is there conflicting information on which model I own (g900t/g900f)?
Please help. I do have some know how on flashing android devices but i've really hit the wall on this one guys!
Cheers,
Yetti.:cyclops:
It's not uncommon for the model # to be different with a custom rom as that is a very easy thing to edit in the build.prop. It should tell you under the battery which one it is. As far as the network issues, check to see if the baseband and IMEI are still there and not listed as unknown or incorrectly. It's possible you could get away with flashing the appropriate modem that matches with your update and that might work better in this region vs the previous one.
Please list the Alliance rom version and baseband version here in case it's relevant to your issue.
More info
Im not sure if this helps but looking through the build.prop file in the system folder my ro.product.local.region=GB
When in recovery mode the region is set to XTC (Philippians) using mutli-csc.
Also my IMEI number seems ok and is NOT blocked.
Cheers. Yetti :cyclops:
Baseband and rom etc
Thankls for your reply!
Sorry when you say "under the battery symbol" do you mean in /odins boot script on the device/ or /in settings on the phone/?
Baseband is g900TUVU1ANCH
Build Num: AllianceROM_G900F_XXU1ANCF
If the "no network" issue can be solved with the current firmware that would be the most desirable solution but going through the flashing process may be a good idea for my learning process, and will help with future updates.
Do you think getting back to a stock rom would help me?
tHANKS AGAIN!:cyclops:
Model confirmed to be g900t
Sorry i didn't understand the "under the battery" thing. I was lost in software world. The sticker under the physical battery says SM-900T so i guess that confirms that it is a t-moble verison (and the baseband is therefore correct).
I will try to flash the T-Mobile stock image to the phone and see if that works.
Also i will try to flash a modem (after i work out which one i need).
Cheers, Yetti :cyclops:
Current status.
Flashed the stock T-Mobile firmware to the phone. No success.
Flashed new modem to the phone. No success.
Will go to the T-Mobile store tomorrow to see if they can help (I doubt it but i have to exhaust all the options).
Any more help would be appreciated...
cheers, yetti:cyclops:
By under the battery I mean like to take off the battery cover of the phone and pull the battery out and look at the sticker found there.
G900t.

Yep it says g900t (see above)
As per flashing a modem. I have heard that it is possible to flash any modem for any version of the s5 to the phone. Some work well and others not so much. I have tried 2 T-Mobile modems (baseband) the G900TU1ANCH and the G900TUVU1BNG3 with no success. Do you have any recommendations for a modem to try (or even a custom ROM that might help?)
Cheers,
Yetti :cyclops:
I know that you mentioned they refreshed the service for your number, but do they have the correct IMEI in the system for your account? Metro makes a big deal about that now and you can't just take your SIM from another phone and pop it in a new one and go like you can with pretty much every other service (Cricket is like this too now).
Anyone have the issue where the SIM card isn't recognized? I'm on the RR newest ROM and the card isn't being recognized...I'm about to try the stock ROM and see how that goes.
Similar problem
I`m in a similar position I think. However, my phone recognizes the SIM but when checking the SIM-status the mobile radio seems to be off. I can´t change preferred network type, it just jumps back to "TD-SCDMA/GSM/WCDMA/LTE , I get no results when searching for mobile networks and when I use the *#*#4636#*#* - menu the "Turn on radio"-option wont respond. I`m on latest stock firmware and the phone is still displaying IMEI-numbers. I bought my unlocked European version of Oneplus X yesterday on an auction site, the seller has good reputation and he claims that it worked fine for him. I got a new SIM-card today thinking that would have solved the problem, no luck there however. I also did a hard reset and downgraded to an earlier version of a stock firmware and the error is still there. I noticed I had TWRP v.2.8.7.0 blu_spark r5 preinstalled when I bought it, its a custom kernel right? Could something related to the kernel be the root of the problem or the baseband? Any suggestions on what to do next?
