[Q] Two questions. . . - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1) Would this: http://www.tombom.co.uk/blog/?p=124 work on the Fascinate?
2) The music player on my phone keeps FCing randomly. It happens most often when I try to use scrolling menus. (Such as playlist) It happens with both the default player and with Winamp. (I am running Kaoscinate v7)
Any help would be appreciated.

The problem with the force close issue can be attributed to the Kaoscinate rom. It has many force close issues with many different apps. And it will continue to until kaos can find the time to fix these issues. Flash jt's CM7 alpha 3, it is the exact same rom except it has almost none of the bugs that kaosinate has. It has all the same good stuff and no force close issues that I have come across. I'm not to sure about your other question.

[Q] Music Player Stops Playing

I have a rooted Thunderbolt phone (Das BAMF Remix 1.6.3, running at the kernel it came with (2.6.32.21.bamf_4.4.7-g21c0620-dirty (by a adrynalyne #1)), as well as WidgetLocker and Launcher Pro. I am trying to use the default music player, and every time my phone locks or I try to use other apps, my music player stops playing. I tried looking through every setting and I cannot figure out how to make my music either play in the background while I use it or continue playing even after the screen locks. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Not sure, I thought there was a setting for that. Maybe try flashing a different kernel? Try this one if you want - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021404
I will probably try that later tonight, thanks! Does anyone know any other possibilities of why this would happen?
Kernel did not work... Any other suggestions?

Pandora slow plays every other song & Hulu runs choppy..

Hi All:
So I've checked the different threads / forum topics and while some users have reported this issue on certain ROM's Q&A sections, I dont belive this to be a specific ROM issue as I have installed 2 different ROMS (VeganTab 7.1.0 and CM7 REPACKED - currently on CM7 repacked both ROMs are BL.2). I believe both roms are based on the same verison of droid.
With both ROMs, I;ve tried the following:
ISSUE:
With the newest Pandora installed, play a station. The 1st song plays fine, the 2nd song, play reaaaaallly slow. If you press the skip >> button, the next song play fine, the 4th song will play very very slowy
FAILED TO FIXES
1 - Change ROMS, by NVFlashing DETOX (on goodintentions website) partioning the hdd, doing wipes and flashing ROMs
2 - Cleared Data on Pandora, uninstalling Pandora and redownloading from the market
3 - restoring Pandora from TiBU, clearing Data and relog in.
On another note, I've notice HULU, doesnt play as well as it used to in a Default Browser, Dolphin and Puffin. You can start a show in any of them, video play back is choppy (audio is fine) and after the 1st commercial, the browser will freeze and lock up the device.
Other than that the both ROMS work fine but am looking for input on the issue to remain on these new versions of droid.
Thanks
anyone else experiencing these problems?
I have all these issues and would love to find a fix for it...
Im using VeganTab Ginger Edition right now, when playing Hulu the video will get choppy but the audio plays fine
When this happens sometimes the video will simply stop playing or switch to a black screen
the video will stop everytime the show starts up again after a commercial
sometimes the commercials will even have the video stop playing
If I change the video quality, switch from 288 to 360 to 480 and between when the video stops playing or freezes the video will return
I recently switched to vegan-ginger 7.1. I have the pandora issue but have not tried hulu yet.
I think a lot of them are having the pandora issue but have not seen any fixes for it.
I got the issue after 7.1 also - initially not every other song but in an attempt to resolve the problem I installed latest version Pandora app. Now the symptoms have worsened and I have the same issue - every other song plays slowly.
I tried installing the Hulu app - it plays OK but low res. Netflix did play one movie fast motion, but I did not associate this with the pandora issue and did not look closely.I have not had a repeat. Crackle and Youtube seem OK also.
I tried same fixes as nyciz - NG. Will try factory wipe this w/e - but to be frank i'm kinda getting tired of messing with it. Has anyone found a music app that is as good as pandora that works on vegan 7.1?
Ok so I got my issue resolved but it was by loading the older Vegan 7.0.0
This isn't a true fix but I get hulu and Pandora working.
Caution, this version has issue with new market. I froze old market with TiBu to resolve.

I have heard it is GB... but i run GB on my SGS4G and have no issues with Pandora. I don't want to role back to the earlier Vegantab.
I had "fixed" it once, unfortunately, i don't remember what i did.. (big help i know) If i am not mistaken, i used a difference kernel with the Vegan ROM... I have since tried a few diff ones to to avail.
I guess either the devs don't see this as an issue, or they aren't having it. Pandora is HUGE for me, i use it all the time... would love to have it working on my Tab...but i lack the patients, time, and knowledge to try to find a fix... HELP US DEVS AND ALL YOUR AWESOMENESS!
Pandora Songs Playing Slow as Well
I have a Viewsonic GTablet running CyanogenMod 7, internet solely through wifi, and I'm experiencing the same issue. I thought at first that Pandora was running a slow version of the song but I was mistaken. The first song will play normal and whenever I skip to the next song, the new song will play fine but if I leave it alone, it will play slow. Netflix is the only other streaming app that I've used and it hasn't had this issue. I'm extremely new to the Android platform so any help would be highly appreciated.
It's a bummer since I love Pandora.
Like I said in my post, either no one who has the knowledge to fix it cares, or they simply aren't having the issue.

Same issue with Pandora
I'm having the same issue with Pandora playing every other song slowly. Currently running Cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1. If I go back to running 7.0.3 then the Pandora app works fine. I've gone back and forth several times. I've tried removing data and uninstalling the app, but when I reinstall I get the same problem. I had wondered if it were something with the renaming on the device from harmony to smb_a1002, so I tried to change the build.prop. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any where with the problem.
Any input or help that we can get would be greatly appreciated.
Had no issues running Pandora on non Ginger Vegan. Updated to 7.1 yesterday and am having the exact 'slowness' issues stated above.
Amazon Cloud player is NOT having any speed/slowness issues...
Regular device music/playlist plays fine.
Any fixes yet for Pandora??
Nope, no one seems to care...I sold my g-tab... lol

Hummm I would not go that far.. I do more research myself. Great device .. Sorry you sold your..

Ok guys and gals I think I found a fix:
I sideloaded the new pandora (not on market, just google it) Pandora 1.5.4 Black version. It seems to work fine with no slow down of the songs at least all day...will edit if it fails.
EDIT: AGGGHH it did it again I notice it works fine if you skip but if you let it naturally go to the next song it slows down. It was working fine earlier.......ok I give up....
Did not work for me either. Thanks for posting

I know for a fact that Pandora 1.5.14 works just fine on Vegan 7.0.0

GoogleMusic 3.0 bugs-Google Music 4.0 FC's

Hello,
I have the honeycomb leak. I get a bug where I cant scroll down in the artists section of Music 3.0. I cant even open Music 4.0
Tell me if you have the second issue because I can just reinstall to fix if its just me.
Be or be it not only you - you could try the reinstall anyway. Haven't tried a reinstall yet, but experiencing the same FCs you're talking about. v3 was fine though.

[Q] I9100 AOSP NeatROM 2.5 Music Player Issues

About 1 month ago I flashed Sale's NeatRom v5.42 and the Apollo Regular Kernel . It was a great rom, mostly because of its smothness and the battry drain (it drains less than the half of my stock ROM I9100LSD). One week ago I thought "Why don't try KitKat?". So I flashed the latest AOSP NeatROM and the correct Apollo Kernel. I also like this ROM, but I have some issues considering music playing with my smartphone. I've tried three apps (Google PlayMusic, RocketPlayer and finally now Apollo), but they don't solve it.
Music playing drains a lot more batttery than before.
When acitivating the screen while listening to music, sometimes the sound stutters.
Randomly the music player app seems to hang when a new song starts. Only after a reboot can listen again to music.
The first two points are only peanuts, but the last point is really annoiying.
I assume the only way is reflashing a stock based ROM, isn't it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, the music player getting stuck is a known issue with KK roms for now, but its a random one.
U can try moving all ur music files on to ur Internal Sdcard (11.5gb one) and then try and also check the above with the stock kernel
Well, i have no external SD card (11,5 GB internal should be enough for my mp3's).
I've switch to the latest stock based NeatRom and stay there until this issue is resovled, but I miss the dashclock and DSP-Manager. Will this issue will be ever resolved? I cant't believe that bugs bugs are neglected in the develepment thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50067179&postcount=2379 ), but I'm now allowed to post there because of I've just registerd because of this issue. It would be great, if someone can make a statement that there are bugs. Either they should be fixed or the user should be informed that there are known issues with KitKat ROMs (that maybe cant't be resolved considering to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612329). I would suggest that a moderator make a sticky. I don't want to attack the developers for their hard and volenteer work, but make suggestions.
OT question: Is my assume right that stock based ROMs are the most reliable beacause they are best optimized for the hardware?
So enough questions and reproaches. I'm proud that so many developers care about our almost three years old device.

[Q] Droid razr struck and restarts while playing videos

when ever i play any video in my razr in any player , sometimes it got struck and phone restarts. it only happening in all custom roms ! i am the olny one here who is facing this problem ? please help.
You are not alone, is present in many ROMs, some do it more than others. Best scenario i have found with latest versions of kitkat is : fail to play media but at least no reboot.
It also happens in stock but it handles better, so no reboots only app crash.
I'm currently using latest dirty unicorns kitkat rom. it eventually cannot play some videos but at least no reboots.
My best solution so far is installing MX player. When hardware fails, it will fall back to software playback. Much better than telling people to wait until reboot so you can show a video. This way, if Firefox or dolphin browser fail to play, I can choose to open with mxplayer.
I think many people will not notice it cause they don't use it as intensively for video playback. Also because not every video fails to play... Some videos will still work fine even if error has been triggered maybe some formats are not affected. And, some ROMs will handle it better (less tendency to reboot).
I don't have the link to the thread, but other xda user posted a reply explaining same problem in a different device yet based in same omap processor.
My suggestion, try dirty unicorns. Some versions of cm11 were fine. But best solutions is installing mx player as a work around. Cause even if rom doesn't reboots, once hardware playback fails, it will fail until reboot.
