This is something you only do once, using root explorer to replace stuff in framework is nis not the way to go about. if you don't have backup -Odin-reinstall ROM.

yeh, It is what we call experience.
Next time i will know Thanks
Reflash odin and it works

Sorry i UP and old post, i have basically the same problem, i replace the stock Framework with another framework-res.apk of a diferent rom
And i cant/dont want to Odin or CWM another rom, because i havent backed up alot of apps that i cant remember the name, but i need it
So i think, if someone can make an .zip and i flash it via CWM that only restores Stock Framework of Oficiall ICS???
If you can help me, alot grateful

Firmware details?
Might be someone with a backup after flashing one of the ics themes.

eh, One Official ICS ROM, stock one. Nothing wild or crazy, i think that with some update on CWM that installs Stock Framework-res.apk file, it will be the solution

[Q] Back to custom rom from CM7

Is it possible to download back the old stock rom through ODIN and reinstall it on my ace? Or can I install it with CMW too from the SD card? Or is there some deleting and complexity involved in this backwards process?
Sure, you can instal any stock rom on your phone. Just have to have the firmware files. I just flashed back stock 2.3.4 after 7.1 CM BehradGH. And istaled BehradGH again I don't think u could instal any stock rom via CWM. Specialy the lower version u have.

Lmao nah bro it failed. I tried flashing it through ODIN and installing the stock 2.3.5 again and the phone was stuck in an endless boot. I got scared as hell and reflashed back to CM 7.1. I have no idea what happened though but everything is working fine. I guess I'll be sticking to CM7.
The reason I wanted to go back was because Heywire (txting app) was the only thing that stopped working after I flashed. I depend a lot on texting and I was thinking it'd go back if I went back to stock. I guess I'll have to try and find another alternative :/
Phone feels like a super phone though. LONG LIVE CM7!
Well, I'm not a developer or advenced user so I can't tell u the reason why you phone stuck in on boot. Today i was broke my CM7.1 Behrad and i could only go to download mode so i flash official 2.3.4 KPH and it's worked. Next i instaled CWM and BehradGH' rom again. Before useing BehradGH's rom i had Grif's KANG rom and after that i flash stock 2.3.4 to instal another CM7.1. It wasn't first time so I'm sure of that what i write here
Haha. I'm guessing we were both pretty lucky then. The first thing I did was to make sure I could boot into recovery. Then I reflashed CM7 from there. I'm still curious about the boot loop thing... I hope someone answers.
You need to flash a full package to not have a bootloop.

If u wer on cm7, then u should flash a full package bcoz cm7 converts ur system from rfs to ext. So wen u flash a full package, ur system is converted back to rfs.

You need to download something called a 5 file package, extract and then in Odin you deselect 'one package'. Generally for stock ROMs you select
OPS - cooper.ops
BOOT - APBOOT.......tar.md5
PHONE - MODEM......tar.md5
PDA - CODE......tar.md5
CSC - CSC.......tar.md5

Oooohh that. I remember doing that once before when I was flashing stock roms on my ace. Can you provide a link to these 5 file downloads? Thanks *clicks*
It's not 5 downloads.
Sammobile.com, find the KPH file. I know it's confirmed to be a full package.
It seems samfirmware.com is not updated with latest firmwares. So u can try sammobile.com which is updated.

dunno about now, but a long time back when i was flashing stock KPN, samfirmware.com had a one file KPN, so i flashed a 5 file KPE and then the KPN...
I think KPN is supposed to be better than KPH which was a leaked ROM.

Hey!
I think you was flashed the ONE package file, but jeah, you need MULTI package file for ODIN, flash from CM to STOCK ROM.
Just read the FLASHING TUT. before flashing!
CHEERS!
To back to stock rom i always use Odin Didn't said i do this by recovery. And always use multi-file pack. Never "one package" - some1 said it is unstable... So go to Download Mode and flash ur Ace by useing Odin and multi-file rom (OPS, PDA, BOOT, PHONE, CSC)

Unstable how? I've always used one packages for flashing stock roms and they've worked perfectly. Unless you're talking about the performance of the rom?

[Q] Signal problems

Hey guys i have been having some signal problems with my ace, but I only have them when inside my house. This started happening when I flashed gingerbread 2.3.5 to get a custom rom for my Ace (which is awesome btw!) the rom I am currently using is WP7 Rom by Jinavs. I have googled & searched a lot and all I found was a code to change the GSM too 900/1800 but I tried the code and it said that it was invalid, the code is *#2263#. Then I read something about changing the phone's modem is this possible on custom firmware? I never had any problems when I was on Stock Froyo 2.2.1. Any help guys?
Also master reset or factory reset does not work :/
what I do sometimes is airplane mode or turn off the phone and it sometimes works
and it only happens inside my house it works fine in any other place.
Any help will be appreciated

create a cwm backup then. the point of reflashing stock rom is to get correct modem for your region. after that u can just restore the cwm backup, it wont overwrite the modem.

[Q] Please Help!! Don't know what to do..

What stated out trying to update official ICS frome Kies turns into a horrible decision once I decided to follow a stupid instructions and manually update it by using Odin . It stuck onto the start screen .
However , I followed the soft-brick save guide and saved the phone
Then, I rooted my phone and put in an ICS ROM but I realise the lockscreen is missing . I also dislike using a bloated custom ROM
Soon I realise I was able to flash the original ICS Software and followed a guide flashing I9100XKPA . I followed every instructions but still has no lockscreen and the homescreen button is not working anymore. (It works when i hold down into download mode) :crying:
I panic and tried to flash back the original gingerbread but it still stuck on ICS . I have no idea what to do . PLease HELP

Ignore the kernel advice. The /efs/imei/keystr file being missing is the problem, and yes, you have to be rooted to do the fix.

How to install ROMS on UCLE5 Stock ICS Root w/ Siyah v4.3.3 w/o mic swap

After reading over lots and lots of threads, I finally got up the courage to root my phone.
I followed these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181
I flashed the "Kernel + Modem + Cache + Rooted UCLE5 System Package" using Odin, downloaded Mobile Odin, and then flashed the safe Siyah 4.3.3 kernel w/o mic swap to avoid bricking due to the eMMc bug. Everything seems to be working fine. I have Superuser, Mobile Odin, and CWM Recovery.
My question is what are my ROM choices and how do I go about installing them?
I'f I'm reading the instructions correctly in the thread with the rooting instructions, I only have the three options for kernels in that thread and I MUST use a w/o mic swap version.
On the Siyah thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592228, the only ROMs listed that work with w/o mic swap Siyah are Criskelo and UCLD3. Are these my only choices for ROM?
Are these the proper files for Criskelo?
Criskelo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500891&highlight=criskelo
I can't seem to find the files for UCLD3.
To be clear, I was coming from a stock i777 with stock ICS and UCLE5. I'm now running 4.0.3, I777UCLE5, 3.1.0-rc8-Siyah-v4.3.3-nomswap ([email protected]).
Thanks for any help. I've searched and read a ton, but I just can't make sense of it all.

So this from the the first thread isn't true?
"You must use an ICS kernel, and it must work with Samsung firmware, and be the no-mic-swap version. If you install a Gingerbread kernel the phone will not boot."

it means that if you use an ALTERNATE kernel, which a lot of people like to do, then you must abide by those guidelines. all roms come packaged with a 'recommended' kernel....just flash one and you will see.

Good choice for a first ROM. When you get bored with that Shostock3 is really nice but wait until 1.5 comes out. It has some fixes that will polish it up nicely.

Would going to SHOStock3 require a wipe? I understand that upgrading to new versions of an existing ROM usually does not, but since this is a different ROM it seems like it would require the full wipe.
What is the easiest way to retain as many of my settings, etc... as possible when doing full wipes? I have Titanium Backup already. Is there another program that will help me retain more?

Once you get accustomed to it, flashing with a full wipe isn't too bad. Make a nandroid backup in case you decide to go back. And I would recommend you buy the full version of titanium back up to get the batch features, and support the developer. It is probably the most important app for those that flash regularly.
I can fully wipe and flash and have everything back up and running the exact same way it was in like 10 minutes. But I like the chance to start fresh

[Q] Samsung galaxy s2 firmware problem

Hi there,
I have the galaxy s2 from about a year ago, bought it form Dubai. Anyways till now I still didn't get the jelly beans update 4.1.2 and I'm stuck with the 4.0.3. I'm starting to face some problems with my device and I think this is because bugs in the 4.0.3, the device over heats while charging or when I have my wifi or 3G on. I downloaded the "AOKP MR1 Milestone 1 ROM for Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 (Exynos)" along with "Gapps" but didn't install them yet:
The only problem is that in order to install the new rom I have to flash my device and root it and I'm not really happy with that. Is there a safe way to get the jelly beans update 4.1.2 without rooting my device. I tried the over the air update but it said no updates found, I also tried kies and still no luck. What can I do to get the new update without having to erase everything on my device.
Also can I take a backup copy of my ROM in case I format "flash" my device for any reason. I want to take a complete backup of everything on my phone including the unrooted original firmware 4.0.3 that it came with so that even if I install any other rom I can flash it and get back with my original one, is this possible.
Please help, looking forward for your repiles

All I want to do is update my phone without flashing it, also if it's possible to take a backup copy of my original firmware please reference me where to start. Didn't mean to bother or bug anyone here, it's just that I'm very new to this
No hard feelings
You need to root to bk up what you have now mate. 4.0.4 is the brick bug firmware not 4.0.3 . Do you want to root your phone.? Do you want to put a custom rom or Samsung rom on your phone?
Just go to sammobile.com firmware page.

You need to root to bk up what you have now mate. 4.0.4 is the brick bug firmware not 4.0.3 . Do you want to root your phone.? Do you want to put a custom rom or Samsung rom on your phone?

Thanks for your reply, how do I root my phone and after I root it what do I need to download to backup everything. I don't really prefer to have a custom rom on my device but I have no problem trying anything on at as long as I have a copy of the original firmware where I can restore it back.

Thanks I'll check it out, what do I look for so I can make sure that it's compatible with my GT-I9100 device, or are they all compatible depending on which region I choose. Currently I'm in Egypt So whats the best firmware to download
Get whatever ROM you want.
Worst case, flash a new modem.
Sent from the little guy
Lsw is the new one. Uk base but as gastonw said it dont matter just download your modem you have now so you can restore it later "apriliam3 for them". To root get a dori ics kernel and flash that either with odin "tar" or in recovery "zip with sig" put on ext sd and update in stock recovery and that will give you root and cwm recovery when you have done that go back into recovery and do a nandroid bk up there. Get titanium back up in playstore and bk up your apps with. I link my contact's with google so they restore easily.
Just see chow to flash ROM's witch odin and choose ROM from Samsung development sub forum.
Thank you all for your replies,
I managed to root my device and advised by all of you, and I made backup using the cwm that was installed automatically after I successfully rooted it. In the backup folder that was created I noticed a file called "system.ext4.tar" is this the original android version that came with the phone because as I mentioned above I want to be on the safe side and have a backup of my original OS that came with the phone in case of anything went wrong then I can restore everything including the original current android version. Second step that I want to do is to flash my phone and install the jellybeans. I found two version version 4.1.2 which I know is compatible with the phone and version 4.2.2 but I'm not really sure if it's compatible or not. So what do you guys suggest I should install on my device
looking forward for your replies

A special thanks goes to andrewwright I prefer stock but I don't have any problems trying custom since custom gives more features
If you would tell me how to do both I'll be more than happy. I think both are flashed in the same way but correct me if I'm wrong
For stock sammoblie.com.
For custom gooim playstore app. Have you rooted yet? Mr1 milestone is a good choice as is solid.
