[Q] Signal problems - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hey guys i have been having some signal problems with my ace, but I only have them when inside my house. This started happening when I flashed gingerbread 2.3.5 to get a custom rom for my Ace (which is awesome btw!) the rom I am currently using is WP7 Rom by Jinavs. I have googled & searched a lot and all I found was a code to change the GSM too 900/1800 but I tried the code and it said that it was invalid, the code is *#2263#. Then I read something about changing the phone's modem is this possible on custom firmware? I never had any problems when I was on Stock Froyo 2.2.1. Any help guys?
Also master reset or factory reset does not work :/
what I do sometimes is airplane mode or turn off the phone and it sometimes works
and it only happens inside my house it works fine in any other place.
Any help will be appreciated

Use 2.3.4 Asia version ddkq6 no signal problems.and use cm7.2 fat kang by frozen ace more steadier ...
Hit thanxs if I helped

I'm from Puerto Rico if that changes anything. Also is this risky? would it brick my phone because the Rom I'm using is based on XWKS2
Also how would I flash the modem only?
And I would like to keep this rom because I love WP7 xD

Anyone? :/

create a cwm backup then. the point of reflashing stock rom is to get correct modem for your region. after that u can just restore the cwm backup, it wont overwrite the modem.

Ok but the firmware is a 1 package.
Am I going to flash only the modem or the whole rom?

whole rom. even if after flashing it doesnt boot/stuck on boot/bootloop, just restore previous cwm backup and see if the modem version in phone setting changed

This is something you only do once, using root explorer to replace stuff in framework is nis not the way to go about. if you don't have backup -Odin-reinstall ROM.

eh, One Official ICS ROM, stock one. Nothing wild or crazy, i think that with some update on CWM that installs Stock Framework-res.apk file, it will be the solution

[Q] Back to custom rom from CM7

Is it possible to download back the old stock rom through ODIN and reinstall it on my ace? Or can I install it with CMW too from the SD card? Or is there some deleting and complexity involved in this backwards process?
Sure, you can instal any stock rom on your phone. Just have to have the firmware files. I just flashed back stock 2.3.4 after 7.1 CM BehradGH. And istaled BehradGH again I don't think u could instal any stock rom via CWM. Specialy the lower version u have.

Lmao nah bro it failed. I tried flashing it through ODIN and installing the stock 2.3.5 again and the phone was stuck in an endless boot. I got scared as hell and reflashed back to CM 7.1. I have no idea what happened though but everything is working fine. I guess I'll be sticking to CM7.
The reason I wanted to go back was because Heywire (txting app) was the only thing that stopped working after I flashed. I depend a lot on texting and I was thinking it'd go back if I went back to stock. I guess I'll have to try and find another alternative :/
Phone feels like a super phone though. LONG LIVE CM7!
Well, I'm not a developer or advenced user so I can't tell u the reason why you phone stuck in on boot. Today i was broke my CM7.1 Behrad and i could only go to download mode so i flash official 2.3.4 KPH and it's worked. Next i instaled CWM and BehradGH' rom again. Before useing BehradGH's rom i had Grif's KANG rom and after that i flash stock 2.3.4 to instal another CM7.1. It wasn't first time so I'm sure of that what i write here
Haha. I'm guessing we were both pretty lucky then. The first thing I did was to make sure I could boot into recovery. Then I reflashed CM7 from there. I'm still curious about the boot loop thing... I hope someone answers.
You need to flash a full package to not have a bootloop.

You need to download something called a 5 file package, extract and then in Odin you deselect 'one package'. Generally for stock ROMs you select
OPS - cooper.ops
BOOT - APBOOT.......tar.md5
PHONE - MODEM......tar.md5
PDA - CODE......tar.md5
CSC - CSC.......tar.md5

dunno about now, but a long time back when i was flashing stock KPN, samfirmware.com had a one file KPN, so i flashed a 5 file KPE and then the KPN...
I think KPN is supposed to be better than KPH which was a leaked ROM.

Hey!
I think you was flashed the ONE package file, but jeah, you need MULTI package file for ODIN, flash from CM to STOCK ROM.
Just read the FLASHING TUT. before flashing!
CHEERS!
To back to stock rom i always use Odin Didn't said i do this by recovery. And always use multi-file pack. Never "one package" - some1 said it is unstable... So go to Download Mode and flash ur Ace by useing Odin and multi-file rom (OPS, PDA, BOOT, PHONE, CSC)

So i want to try cm9 on my p509. I've tried many times to upgrade the baseband, but whenever i do i get no gsm and my imei disappears. trust me i've followed the guide EXACTLY. so i just stick with old bb. I want to flash to this cm9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614420. I think, it doesn't work. The ROM boots, but you have no signal etc. Even restore a nandroidbackup doesn't downgrade the baseband.

Why would he need to downgrade
Both cm7.2 and cm9 run on new baseband, right?
Though not sure what restoring nandroid will do in this case as then it would have old-bb fix on new baseband:cyclops:
yeah i hear ya. so is it reccomended that i reflash cm 7.2 so then i coulld stay on new baseband? then it would be easier for me to flash roms for new bb right?
okay... i am gonna explain this and hope i am right..sry for big post
Our phone has many partitions like(system, data, boot, recovery, cache, etc)
The mbn files that you see in P500-v20G-baseband.7z are partition images(or pieces of it or bin file or something similar....am not sure)
Now to install a custom rom, you format system, data, cache(or boot too in some cases) and then flash the rom, which basically copies new files to these partitions.
SO,custom rom does not affect other partitions present on your phone.
However when you install stock through kdz, it basically wipes your whole phone and install each partition again(including the one containing baseband). So, after installing a kdz...you are stuck with that baseband no matter which rom you install through recovery unless you install a kdz again with diff baseband.
The lgmdp method only changes the partition containing baseband (amss.mbn). So,again custom roms have no effect on baseband.
Now, to answer your ques.

No, you dont need to reflash any other rom. You ARE on new baseband now and can flash any rom for new bb and it will work.
Note:All info above may or may not be entirely correct. Its just how i think it works.:good:

Want to try out some custom firmwares, but want to be safe at the same time

Hi guys...
I have a galaxy s3 and up to this point I've been pretty satisfied with the original firmware...
However, I'd like to try out some of custom made ones, but since there's a big update on the way, I want to be safe doing so...
What I mean is basically this:
Can I somehow backup my stock firmware, try out some custom builds and then get the OTA update when it's available?
I don't really care about guarantee, but I'd really like the option to get OTA updates from samsung in the future (if I for some reason want to do so).
I remember an old post, where someone talk about this, but I can't find it
Please help me
Most definitely. You can find stock builds here in this forum and simply flash using ODIN to get back to stock firmware when you want to. Be advised this does wipe your data so have a good backup of it before hand.

And then it would be as my phone never were flashed and OTA and other samsung only stuff would work?
You will have to use triangle away or something like that to reset your flash counter if you want to send your phone to repair and make it appear as you have never flashed before but unless you break your phone, don't bother. And yes the other Samsung stuff should probably work.

If you flash your phone with a custom ROM for instance Resurrection Remix or Cyanogenmod you'd not directly be able to restore a stock ROM.
You will have to find one http://androidfirmwares.net that's for your region and flash it through Odin. Then you'll be able to update OTA and KIES.

Okay... now I'm even more confused
Let me see if I get this right?
One way to do it would be to:
1) Download tools and rom (odin, CM and drivers etc)
2) Flash new cool rom
3) Donwload original samsung rom
4) Flash old boring rom back to phone
5) Use tool to reset counter (optional)
Now, my phone would like as if I had never ever rooted and flashed my rom
Is that more or less correct?

If you don't have a ext Sd card don't try my suggestion! I would only ever advise a full wipe if you have a ext sd card just in case anything goes wrong plus like you said where would you put the rom. I would strongly suggest you getting a ext card no matter how small if you are flashing roms.

The steps I would take now would be after you have installed your 4.4 rom boot it up then reboot into recovery and flash a separate modem you could use one >> https://mega.co.nz/#!PQZDiRYY!V3pk5H24zuhI4xmE-RvF5gRKJ9N4ECg9YqEg09neX84 << and see if that works.
Also did you backup your efs when you where on stock 4.3 if not flash stock then backup your efs then try the steps above....

No, I didn't make a backup of efs
I also want to mention one thing
Currently, I have 4.1.2 installed on my s3
Since my network was not working so I flashed the stock rom
Should I make a backup of efs on 4.1.2 or should I upgrade to 4.3 and then make a backup of EFS?

Now you have confused me even more! I thought you said in your previous post that you had connection on 4.3 stock rom if so why are you on 4.1.2 ?. Stock rom 4.3 is efs v2 and stock rom 4.1.2 is efs v1 if you have no connection on 4.3 then this is your problem you still have efs v1 which will not work on 4.3 or any of the newer roms please confirm that you have a signal on 4.3 stock rom.

Ok that's good it means you are on v2 efs which is good..I just needed to confirm that you had v2 efs I thought you might have been on 4.1.2 because of no signal.
I must admit this is a strange one because the asop roms, omni roms etc don't change your baseband which can effect your signal. There is one more option you could try use this patched modem >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-firmware-i9300xxemg4-t2377731/post43946365 << by JustArchi look at post 15. Flash your rom then boot into it then reboot into recovery and then flash JustArchi modem see if that works.(Even though I don't think that is the problem)
Also your efs make sure you back it up preferably when you are on 4.3 stock rom.

It is strange not something I have come across before:crying: maybe somebody with a bit more knowledge might see your thread and help:good:As for the 4.0.4 rom you mentioned your efs which is v2 works on 4.3 and 4.1 not sure about 4.0.4 but I would strongly suggest keeping away from ics roms they have the sleep of death issue which is very bad news and you definitely don't want that...

Just want to add something
I used to install custom roms often. All of them worked perfectly fine
When I saw my flash counter it was 20+
So, I decided to use triangle away
Since then I am unable to flash any custom rom with working network successfully
