Hi there
after every phone call, my streak goes to the dialer screen. the strange thing is that before the update he would return to the screen where I was previous to the call.
So when Im typing a message, and I get a call, after I hang up he returns to the dialer screen and not the message.
very anoying
anyone else with this problem?
get from the market a program called on call end, its free and you can set it so after a call it returns to home screen
thanks for the message but I want it to return to the previous thing I was doing.
what rom do you have on your phone? when i had 318 i never had this problem but when i flashed 345 my phone started doing this, i wonder if the newer versions have this problem (351 354)
347 did this too, if I recall. Maybe it's s 2.2.2 thing.

I'm on 354 and it does it too. It is annoying. A modern OS should be able to freeze what you were doing and go back to it when the interuption is over.
Before 351 it was able to do this...

Well, If I use the Go-dialer, then this does not happen!
other wise - it always happens - and ya- its irritating!
that's the first thing I noticed after I moved from 315 to 351 !!
thanks,
Sony.
Theres also an app "CallHistory",, when installed, your streak goes to a call log screen with four tabs at the top:incoming; outgoing; missed and custom . You can chose which tab to default to after a call ends. I like it b ecause stock displays all calls mixed in one list instead of categorized.
After the call is over, and you've been returned to the dialer screen, just press the back button to return to your previous task/activity.

True. But I like how this app auto navigate to the calllog. I sometime mistakenly call the number back when I used to end up on the defaulted dialer screen after a call

Hi sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find any relevant info on the boards...
The problem is with the phone app. Once the device has been used to make a telephone call, the phone app stays running and will not end (i'm using the switcher) unless I perform a soft reset with the stylus.
If I make say three phone calls I end up with 3 instances of the phone app running and not being able to end them?
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Dean
Do you really end up with three copies running, or are you speculating? That would be very strange. It is normal for it to remain running, but I've never seen more than one copy running. There is no way to close it, even with a task switcher (have tried three).
If i am not mistaken your using WM2003 4.00.05
If this is the case it happened to me on hourly basis so i downgraded to 4.00.01 & it works well.
I think its a bug and sometime you see the call meter still running but the actuall call has ended more u cant stop it but by soft resetting.
If ure using this version of WM2003 then your only soltion change the ROM version
I have had my TMo xda for almost a year now, and have used every version of PPC2002 and WM2003 to date, and in every version I have noticed that you cannot close the phone app as well, but I have never noticed multiple instances simultaneously, except that the call log window does sometimes show as an additional instance. So to see two instances of the phone app running is not unusual. I have never seen more than two instances running though, and closing the call log does seem to close the second instance.
David
thanks for the replies...
You are correct about there being only 2 instances of the phone app running, there are never more than that.
i'm using the developers rom v1.1 r 4.21.00
The phone instances simply wont end using either the task manager or switcher. The phone shows the last number I dialed, which I can't get rid of. also to the left of the contact name just above the phones erase button, there is a little "m".?
I have the developers rom 1.2 and I can close the phone app ok, I just go to the switchers "lightening bolt" thing in the right hand top corner, click, click and its gone.
The "m" you see is the confirmation that you are calling the number which appears in the 'Mobile field of the contact record. The last number called cannot be removed without 3rd party software. Nothing to worry about and probably not worth fixing.
Um, you know you can turn the phone app off by tapping on the signal strength meter or pressing and holding the red ph button ?
Hi, yes I did know you could turn the phone of this way, but the phone wouldn't actually end.
Last night I upgraded to the v1.2 rom, problem had dissapeared. Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure it's a problem with your phone, I think it's meant to do that . I don't know if there's a mod out there to stop it though...
It's definitely meant to do that
damn then i have to hope that a mod will be released
Turn the phone off?
I think you should request a dev to do that as I think it will never be made as your phone should really do that. I'm not sure if there's even a phone which will not turn on its screen when a sms is received.

Coming from htc phones all this while..this screen turning on when recieving sms/mms/email is really annoying..hopefully someone can cook something to totally prevent this. I guess samsung designed it thia way due to lack of notification led.

on my nexus one, the screen will not turn on when an sms is received. but i can turn this option on if i want so that the screen DOES turn on with an sms. its all about choice. maybe you guys could try handcent, and root and remove the stock messaging app to stop this.
i've just noticed that my phone has started doing this too.
i have sms popup installed and the default sms notification is turned off therefore sms popup should handle the sms notifications.
i have "leave the screen switched off" set in sms popup but the screen still turns on.
this is also happening with the exchange client and i think it might have started since KE7 ...
any ideas ?
While on an outgoing call, I can hear my contacts, but my contacts cannot hear me... Anyone else has/had this problem and know of a solution? Btw, I'm on the 351 build and rooted. Thanks in advance!

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot this?
Tried with the speakerphone on?
Tried with a wired headset?
Tried with a bluetooth headset?
Did you recently install any apps?
When did this start?
This started a few months ago (even with stock), but I always thought It had something to do with "Total Recall" (a phone recorder app)... but after finally uninstalling Total Recall and clearing cache, the problem continued. I also tried everything u mentioned and everything works perfectly. It's only when I use just the phone its self to make calls I run into this prob.

Btw, it's not all the time that this happens...

Install StreakMod Recovery and make a nandroid backup.
Reset your phone using the reset in the settings under Privacy. Test the phone. If it works resinstall your apps one by one to check. If you still have the same problem after a reset with no apps installed I would suspect a hardware problem.
Will give it a shot. Thanks.

Do you ever just bump the mute button with your cheek? This is a good possibility if they can't hear you halfway through the conversation (sometimes my head falls off the light sensor causing the screen to turn on).
You know what?... that's a good possibility. Thanks

Yes I have the same problem. I traded my HTc desire for dell streak stock rom not rooted. 5 inch is great, really great. But at leat one in seven calls I can hear the other person, but that person not me.
The lock screen is also unresponsive, same 1 out of 7, I just can't answer, because the slider won't slide.
Sometimes the screen is also unresponsive in general, especially the lower part, I have to change to landscape mode and then hit the kill all apps button, after wich the screen works fine again.
First I thought these were problems caused by the stock music player, but now I dunno anymore. (music quality is much better than on the desire by the way)
also bluetooth calling works really bad. People always complain about the echo of their voice. I tried 3 differents headsets. Bluetooth music works great though.
Maybe this streak is just bad model. No wonder The guy wanted to trade.
I faced the same issue on my Streak5. For almost 3 weeks i was chasing this issue and was absoultely fed-up. Actually i had recently changed the sim card for my telephone operator, and i thought that was the issue, so i fought with the telecom operator to get it changed but no difference. Then i suspected some software is screwing up, so i went through all the installed software and jotted down every software that had some audio/mic relation. Finally in the list i most suspected a call recorder software called "Call Recorder Free" by Clever Mobile and BOOM ! I uninstalled it and that was the culprit indeed ! My phone is working perfectly fine now ! Please beware of this or any such software.
you guys could try to use the olleh 407 ROM or use the custom ROM where usually custom ROM is the best alternative for streak...
I am running AOKP ver 35.1 I have noticed that my phone doesn't vibrate anymore. and I'm not sure when I lost it. I have been all over in the settings it is set to vibrate. somewhere I think I seen that it was broken in ICS any ideas for me?

My vibrate is working on 35.1. It could possibly be a bad download or maybe your vibrate motor just wore out. ( it is one of the few moving parts in our phone)
You could try redownloading/ reflash and if that doesn't work, I would return to stock eh03 to see if it functions at all.

so i thought i was having that issue till i hit the call button, went into dialer settings and enabled vibrate from there. try it out
I honestly had sort of the dame issue twice. I would get a weak weird vibrate instead and when I reset the phone it was fine again. It us probably due to the age of the phones is my best guess.

The touch of HTC One is so wrongly caliberated that touching anywhere on the screen answers the call (results in unwilling answer of calls when taking the phone out of pocket) or the emergency number 911 gets dialled from lock screen when the phone is in pocket...
Just now I got a call from the Sheriff's department about a 911 call made from my phone
Been using since it came out and has never happened to me. I'm going with user error on this one.

Never has happened to me. This is obviously user error. What a waste of a thread.

i can actually attest that this can happen cause it happened to me as well with my HTC One. I got a random call from the police department that my phone dialed the emergency number, all while my phone was in my back pants pocket
Definitely not a stupid thread. My friend has had a one for a few weeks now, and he keeps on complaining about how often he calls 911 from his pocket...
Maybe try disabling apps that causes the screen to turn on like some notifications. If it still occurs, try showing it to an AT&T rep. They should replace it.

I did it 5 times in one day. I used to have no lock screen with just a password but now I have both and almost all notifications that turn the screen on are disabled. So far so good.

If you have nothing to add, then why bother to reply. Seems a waste of time for you, since you have such important things to attend to. Since you think personal attacks are ok, how about you go back down into moms basement and clean up you room, mmkay?
This has never been an issue with any other phone I've owned, but it's happened twice to me now. I couldn't care less, and I don't consider it user error.

Even if that was actually a personal attack that doesn't make it okay for you to do it

I feel your pain, OP. Although I haven't had this issue with my One yet, I've dialed 911 from my pocket twice so far with my Galaxy S4. I turned off the "increase screen sensitivity" option, so hopefully it doesn't happen again. Either way, I think I'm just somehow bumping the "emergency dialer" thing from inside my pocket with the pattern lock set-up. Maybe you're inadvertently doing the same.
Ironically enough, a few minutes after being reprimanded by them for my latest 911 pocket call, 911 accidentally returned the favor and dialed my number by mistake
Yes this happened a few times to me using the stock ROM 4.1, however this issue can be resolved several ways (this list is NOT all inclusive):
tbalden's kernal has the following:
Pocket Wake Protection (prevents phone from waking accidentally in your pocket, when it contacts skin through textile)
A new lock screen (Halo Locker, Holo Locker)
A new ROM, Google edition is harder to get to actually dialing 911.
Also noticed on the stock kernal and ROM the hotter the phone got in my pocket the easier it was to dial 911.....and this article was pretty funny.

Solved by doing the following :
Disable screen lock by selecting none from settings > security > screen lock
Select no lock screen from settings > personalize > lock screen style
Install Magiclocker main from app store abd enable pattern or pin in it for security lock screen
I don't even know how to call 911 from the lock screen without unlocking, so I doubt my pocket knows (unless it's smarter than me ). Can someone tell me how?

3rd party lock screen apps tend to drain a lot battery.

I use WidgetLocker so I haven't had a problem with accidentally calling 911. I do hate the incoming call screens, though, and have accidentally answered more than a few calls I did not want to take. The screen with the regular buttons on the bottom is fine but the one with the sliders is horrible. I can hit decline and it'll still answer. :-\ also, like you said, just taking it out of my pocket will answer the call. I tried ultimate call screen but it didn't always work well for me.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nanabit.callconfirm&hl=en - This will help with outgoing calls.
As for incoming calls, I also use Widgetlocker and it can display when a call comes in (you have to unlock to answer).
It happened to me...and Police Dept. called me...This is definitely not a good thing...How can we avoid ?
