Obviously it all depends on what you've done while the screen was turned on but it'd be an interesting statistic.
Overall battery:
26hrs on stock rom 1.8.3
16hrs on gingerblur 3.1
Both with more than 3:30hrs of display on
About 24hrs on battery with 4hr15min with the display on. I think I have a screenshot on FB, lol.
I might be on to something here then..
Am using GladiAtrix 3 b0.2, before I installed it I did a battery stats reset through CWM
(advise from KennethPenn, dev of Gingerblur):
"""- Reset battery in CWM (under Advanced)
- Drain your battery to 0 percent and let it turn the phone off, then charge it back up to 100%."""
On my phone are more than 120 apps installed. Battery Manager is on "Maximum ".
The result is fairly amazing; the display time of almost 7 hrs is under heavy use; wlan & sync constantly on, Xscope & XDA app non-stop checking, market downloads, etc!! I have never had such good battery!
I advise everyone to do the above, it really helps.

That's right, only 2g unless I need 3g for data. I'm always around a wifi though.
No task manager, android 2.2 does all that automatically.
Not sure battery manager is so aggressive, I think it takes a bit longer than 15 minutes.

6hrs is my personal best, straight stock phone.
I've just put mine on charge, prob got about 40-50 hours, mostly standby. Seems a lot but I just unpacked my charger from going away for the weekend.
Prob about 4 hours talk time, prob 3 hours web. No GPS, no wifi.
Strange thing is, the battery thing said '5 hours since unplugged' which is definately not the case, is this a known issue? 5 hours since I rebooted it maybe.
when you reboot - the time since unplugged counter is reset.
Is there a way to do the battery stats reset without CWM?

a little off topic but howd you get that 1% battery mod and not the ugly circle, this looks kinda nice sitting at 33%, can one get that without gingerblur , stock plus root would do?
on topic, i get about 2 days on a medium usage on my battery , 1.5 days on heavy, i dont think i could use another phone after getting this much battery life, i just wonder what gingerbread would do to this phone
5 1/2 hours, with 3G turned on. Although the last 45 minutes of that it was just sitting at the launcher, I was waiting for the battery to die on it. I usually average 2-3 hours, but when I charge my phone I usually still have about 50% left.
Seeing as I rarely use data, I may have to try that 2G trick. Maybe I could charge it every other day instead of each night.
My best "Screen On" time is close to 4.5 hrs running Greyblur. For those just posting "time since unplugged"..screen on time is a much better indicator for battery life imo because it means actual use. The phone sitting idle in your pocket or on your table for 48 hrs is misleading to some people because then they wonder why they're only getting 12hrs with 5hrs of actual "useage" (screen on time).
For my style of use..battery saver modes and apps don't do me any favors because then I miss out on my IM's which I rely on for most of my communication. And unfortunately 2G isn't an option any more for most of us Canadian users..as 2G has been pretty much phased out.

With you on that, I keep asking people to post screen usage time (also in other threads); anything else is fairly misleading on how long the battery lasts.

I have noticed my battery sucks lately. I know the battery isn't the greatest but I was able to get easily a day of use out if it. Now I can barely go a day. I purchased beautiful Widgets, battery indicator and xda app all last week And it seems after that is when my battery went to **** .I used launcher pro for a bit too but started having lag problems so I removed that. Today I uninstalled beautiful Widgets. I'm on wifi and in airplane mode. As I'm typing this I've lost %2 already. Wtf is going on? I have GPS Bluetooth and usually wifi off. I have use only 2G networks, sync only gmail and screen manually set and set to low 30sec TO.
Any suggestions?

Quick question, which ROM are you running? Ever since I switched over to leaked JI2, every couple days I notice that after running one of a few apps, the CPU just seems to go into overdrive. The phone gets really warm and the battery drains ridiculously fast. So fast that even plugging into my car charger won't charge the phone, even on idle. If I reboot, the phone cools down and the battery drain goes back to its normal, slow self.
I haven't narrowed it down to any specific app yet, but it seems to be either, Foursquare, Great Land Grab, or Bubble Blast.
Foursquare I have, I don't remember when I installed it. I am actually just running stock TW.

I get 15hrs... I am not ROOTED! I did the drain battery life process twice. This is with moderate usage. I am planning to do the drain battery process once a month cuz I hear it helps with battery life. Possible that u install something that's killing your battery.
Solution do the master reset if that doesn't help then it can be the battery is no good. I know that this is with the stock rom. If u are using another rom that's maybe the problem. U can try switchig roms to see if this is the problem. I hope this information has been helpful.
Does the master reset remove everything ? I have all my pics/videos on my phone meM. I have music and avatar on SD.

It seems as though it drains faster in standby with nothing running. I removed FourSquare last night and have nothing running as far as widgets. I'm going to reboot and see. I've had it unplugged since 7am this morning, after a little over an hour I lost 2%.. not that bad I guess..

I've had this happen a few times. For me, it's usually because my battery status gets thrown off somehow. The phone would read that I have 55% battery life left, but it really only is at 25 or 30% and it always feels like it's draining fast. I usually turn off the phone, pull the battery out for a few seconds and then put it back it. When I turn on the phone the battery percentage is corrected and the phones seems to be back to normal battery use. I don't know why this happens.

This was suddenly happening to me today -- my battery started draining very quickly, mostly on standby (I usually have quite good battery life). No new or unusual apps installed in the past week (I don't use Foursquare).
I gave it a power-down/battery pull; no adjustment in the % as described in the post above, but it seems to be draining more normally now. Weird....

Same thing happens to me every couple days. Rebooting the phone fixes it every single time though, so it's not a big deal if I catch it in time. If I didn't catch it, I'd estimate my phone would be drained (even in standby) within 4 hours or so.

Same here, I rebooted after removing FS and some other apps/touitur and got 1day 13hrs on the next charge with pretty moderate use. So whatever it was, it's gone now. If it was FS hopefully it's fixed soon.
Had a similar experience, with battery % entering freefall every time I turned the phone on. Two things helped:
1. I did the drain cycle. Drain the battery completely till it shuts off and charge it to full while off. This does not 'fromat/form' the battery in any way it just helps the phone to calibrate the meter.
2. I uninstalled few apps that I suspected were draining the battery.
I advise you install JuicePlotter and see the graph of battery drain. You'll be able to tell if the phone is entering standby or not. Thanks to some culprit apps (still figuring out what it was exactly) my phone was not entering standby at all hence the crap battery life.

This obviously is not the norm as if it were, this forum would be flooded with posts about it. Does anybody have any ideas as to what is going on here?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated it, thank you.

Sounds like you've got an app that is causing 100% wake time.
Go to "Settings", then to "Battery & data manager", then "Battery Usage". It will show you what is using most of your battery.
Importantly, though, click on the time at the top of the screen (which tells you how long you have been on battery / off battery). This will bring up a screen that will show you things like the level of phone signal you are getting, and most importantly for you when your phone is "awake". If you see a mostly blue (or in your case, possibly all blue) bar there, then you've got something that's causing you problems.
Spare parts may be able to help you figure out what it is.
Thx jw, appreciate the help. Nothing worked though, Sprint is replacing the phone.

I'm not certain if this is Motoblur or it was just changed from the last time I used Android, but there appears to be an option to only sync social network information when on Wifi.

battery is amazing for me. downloaded battery circle from market that shows true percentage of battery and when u pull down notification bar it will show something like "Discharging from 95% since 8 hrs" then underneath that it will say "voltage 3.78v // capacity at 47% since 11:16pm" or something along those lines. so in 8 hrs of medium use on 3g only i dropped half. not bad at all.
think u had a bad battery. also i honestly dont think you need juice defender with this phone. i let things sync all day whether 3g or wifi and i make it a full day easy.

Home Screen, slide it to the left. On that screen, shut down 4G, GPS, and Bluetooth if not using it. Even playing with mine (and I play hard) I'm about 30% loss every 4 hours. Im good for a day?
Also, remember if you have Facebook, Twitter, Google+.........the radio (3G or 4G) is constantly reaching out to them for updates!
I went this whole weekend from 8am to 11pm without charging, I played words with friends checked fb, texted and made calls and never needed my charger. I came from the evo and i would of had a dead phone at 4pm doing the same amount so i am impressed all the way
Got mine on Friday. Looking forward to the workday to test the battery during a normal routine. But yesterday, I gamed & messed with the phone for over 2 hours (out of 4 hours off uptime) & only dropped by 50%. I am happy with that.

Has anyone else ever had their battery improve over time?
My stock battery has overnight gotten amazingly better, and I can't explain it. Its on a stock amaze, everything stock, I was having some battery issues, it would charge and get to 99% then take a good 20-25 mins to get to 100%, so I got a battery calibrator off the market, a non root required one. So I get it charged, and 'calibrate' it, and I didn't think it would do anything. So it stayed at 100% for over an hour with the screen on. At night it was reading 70%, and I left it without charging, and in the morning was dead. Right away I thought the battery calibrator threw it off, so I charged it up agaon to 100%, and this time wanted it to drain to zero, and I thought I'd start over from a drained battery. Same thing happened when I had it at 100%, it would take forever to drain it, I was playing movies on it, sound turned up, screen full brightness, and the thing wouldn't drain. I had a movie looped all night, and for a period of 10 hrs of this, it was still going when I woke up! I find it hard to believe that this is legit, but I've tried it twice now to drain the battery and I'll wake up and it'll be at roughly 15% remaining.
The other odd thing I noticed is on my data tracker, I had about 80MB of data go through the phone that I can't recall doing anything with. It was at a time I was at home and on wifi, so I can't call telus and see what went through the network, but the phone had something big go through it that I didn't do. Maybe telus is secretly fixing the battery issue on these phones? The conspiracy continues…
Just thought I'd share. I attached a pic of the battery status as of today. I haven't charged this thing in over a day other then a little bump. Before, I'd get to 18-20 hrs of regular use and it would need a charge.
I've also got another amaze running energy rom, and faux and its been doing way better then the rooted amaze.

Taking pictures uses a LOT of battery life i have noticed, especially when using flash.
The Screen was barely on and awake time is minimal as well. Everyone just says "Wow" when they see a day, but a day of barely using your phone is not a special thing to accomplish.
Truth when I spend all day at my job I can't use my phone, even with syncing on... I'll still have 70+ % after 14 hours or so...

So is this thread supposed to be based on a purely stock experience? I have yet to get less than 14 hours with the heaviest usage.. but then again I am not stock. But every rom I have used has given me at LEAST a 12 hour battery life, even if I am trying to kill it.
I realize from numerous threads that wiping battery stats doesn't really do anything, but even though my battery goes to 90% super quick(I wish I knew why, it hasn't always) I still usually get 18+ from my phone, with realistic usage.
If this thread IS just for people using stock.. why are you using stock? I am on bulletproof 2.5 with the latest kernel, and I get great battery life, with over 130 apps installed and regular use.
A random thought, on previous devices I disabled automatic time sync and saw a big difference. I did the same for the amaze since day 1.. maybe you should disable it too? After you synced to the server, what point is there to auto-time?
My 2 cents.. don't know what the complaining it about.
On light usage, I EASILY get 2+ days on one charge..
I ,am on it a lot, between GPS and general usage, ,but this still seems like too fast to drain compared to what others here have said. I had this problem with my Atrix too, maybe i am just destined for bad luck with battery life
Do you use anything like juice defender. This app literly doubled my battery life!

Apps like that only increase standby battery life. Everything else is very minimal.
And I'm not happy with the battery life either. My phone is plugged in right now and the battery is actually going down as I use it.

This happened to me since i first got the phone it has slowed down and now the phone can last through the day ever since at&t throttled me for this month goes without saying ill take it easy next month. so most likely if your in an lte area thats the problem

If it's notbthe stock charger you areblikely not using a rapid charger.
Sent from my SGH-I717R
I pull mine off the charger at 7:00 and at 3pm or so it's down to 85%, I'll put it on the charger at work until I leave around 5-6pm (mainly because I'm used to having to do this on my previous phone) and at night if I'm not using it constantly it's around 70-75% when I plug it in at bed time.
I suspect anyone getting that bad of battery life must be using it constantly, ie: Playing games, browsing, trolling facebook, etc.. Even in the "new toy" stage I'm getting great battery life.
FYI I don't have LTE, but do generally have good 4G.
You honestly can't use any phone on GPS without external power and expect that you're not going to discharge quickly. Assuming that you are running a car charger during GPS and just didn't say so, search the i-717 threads, since the topic has been well vetted on what chargers are more effective, etc. There are definite differences.

The fact that there are people out there that get really good battery life means the problem is you and not the phone. If you refresh facebook every minute of course your battery life will be crappy. apps like juicedefender are just marketing crap. as long as there are no running apps in the background that eat your battery, you do not need any juicedefender or tasker. also setting screen-off behavior to conservative on set cpu helps improve battery life.
When I first got my i717 and was using it on the stock rom I had pretty terrible battery life. I take it off the charger at 5:00am and had decent battery life (around 5 to 7 hours without GPS) but I use my phone a lot for internet/email. I think your battery life is completely normal given your usage.
Most people get about 5hrs screen on time. Total on battery ranges up to about 24hrs, but only if the screen is off at least 19 of them.

i can get about 3 or so
5 hours of screen time AND 19hours standby sounds incredible
would sure like to see screen shot as well
and def dont think 5 hours is any type of avg
I had GPS running on my phone for 4 hours today, had blue tooth on half the time without knowing it, sending text messages, making two 5 min phone calls, checking maps, checking FML and reading a book for about an hour and drained down to about 70% and I have the brightness set at auto. I would exchange it for a new battery.
On average with several texts per hour, several 5-10 min phone calls, taking a few pics and uploading them to picasa, checking facebook, updating status and checking emails I can pull off the charger at 630am and still have 50% battery (at least) by 630pm.
I do have the juicedefender (which isn't crap, it turns off signal after so long so you aren't trolling for signals when you aren't on the phone).

I had a ss of my buddies yesterday, but can't restore mms lol. There are plenty of other ss in the note section. He was at 22+ hrs with about 4:30 of screen on and some % remaining. I have to charge around 7-9 everynight at 4-4:30 hrs screen on, but my use is pretty heavy. I sync 4 gmail accounts, a separate GV, 3 calendars, and several apps.
If yours is much worse than that, you likely have a few troublesome apps or are playing games. First, after a full charge, reset cpuspy timers, lock it, and set it down for a few hours (I know, impossible). Then check to see that your CPU has been in deep sleep about 95% of the time. If not, use better battery stats to see what has been request wakelocks. Not only the most total time, but the total number. Any app that looks outrageous, freeze it or uninstall it. For system processes that look troublesome, Google. You can often find simple tricks online that will tell you what's causing them to go crazy. Beyond that, turn off syncing of anything that isn't needed or doesn't matter (like Facebook), and uninstall stuff you never use.
Another slight help is the brightness widget (don't use the actual widget, just put the app on your homescreen, it works the same) or dimmer in market as they can both set the brightness to a value of 10 (Samsung lowest stock is 20), and even if you can't tell the difference, it helps. Jkay settings in saurom can set the auto brightness profile slightly darker than stock. Umm, and the obvious, use less Widgets, longer sync intervals, processor scaling and speed profiles, and buy a couple rapid chargers, wall and auto.
A couple things to note after seeing a few of these posts...
BT can be on, but without it searching, connected, or listening it's not active.
GPS isn't active unless its in use aand you see the icon in the notification bar. That being said, fb, websites, and many other apps that request location will activate it.

YOU MUST CALIBERATE THE BATTERY!! I have no issues I use my phone heavy all day and get 15 hours and I still have 20% left. All you have to do is
1) Charge you phone until it says "charged"
2)Leave phone plugged in and power off and let it charge until the battery meter literally says "100" (screen will sleep so you can check with volume rocker to light screen)
3) power on phone and let boot and than power off and wait till you see 100% again
4) now keep doin this and you will notice it will start displaying "100%" faster and faster usually takes 6-7 times cycling like this
5) After you do this download Battery Caliberation (root required) app from market and hit the caliberate button and boom your good to go
I do this on every android phone I own when I flash a new rom or purchase a fresh one. Everyone should do this everytime you flash a new rom and I can CONFIRM significant battery longevity on all my android phones I have done this with
You only have to do it once so just get it out the way and you'll get through a whole dayand have some juice to play with.
I get 15+ hours and do not any battery juice defender apps

Just to be clear here, Tasker has nothing to do with battery life. It doesn't hurt it, nor "help" it. However, you certainly could write tasks/contexts that would decrease battery life, and there are a few scripts out there which do silly stuff like autokilling, etc... But if we're talking "battery savings", Tasker and JD do not go in the same category.
IMO JD is only useful if you're frequently in an area with no signal, like you work in a basement or deep inside of a solidly constructed building. Since you mentioned Tasker, in this context it does help me a bit on battery because my wifi turns off when I leave the house, but that's also something JD can help with. If you don't have a wifi connection it'll turn off wifi (and I believe turn it back on periodically to see if there's one available?) I don't use JD, so can't speak too much for it.

Hour? Hour and a half? I'm working during that period. I usually hit news sites and G+ when I'm first at my desk in the morning, so that's 30 minutes or so off and on looking at it, then perhaps an hour over the rest of the day, sometimes more at lunch.
I'll look closer today and post back.

I decided to make a thread to see what kind of battery life and performance people are getting with their devices. Please include what build you're on, the kernel you're using, any special apps you're using, and any comments you have about your setup.
Guess I'll start..
Build: The Base 0.7.3 (4.0.4)
Kernel: sk8's 2.2 ICS kernel
Apps: Android Tuner Pro and SetCPU
I use Android Tuner for voltage control and governor settings. SetCPU is used for profiles to adjust the CPU frequencies for different apps. As well as a lot of tweaks I've applied. Forgot to take a screenshot before I charged my phone, but I'm able to push 36hours with about 6 hours of screen on time.

Pure stock rooted, locked bootloader, frozen bloatware. 18000+ on average Antutu, over 7000 Quadrant average. Battery goes from 12 hours to 27 hours, my two broadest 'average' ranges. 12 had moderate use, 27 had light use, data off, power saver on.

Make sure you also post your screen on time like the OP. Your ROM, kernel, tweaks, etc are important, but screen on time is the closest we can get to a constant variable.
On 12 hours, screen on was about 3 hours. 27 it was about 45 minutes. I've deleted the screenshots though.

I am running rooted Stock ROM/Kernel (waiting for official JB update) with unlocked bootloader. I have been recieving terrible battery life though! I've tried calibrating it and still had issues. Besides that, I get like -5% every 7 minutes of low-mild screen on use even with Eco, Powersave, and underclocked at 384 MHz all enabled. About -10% every hour with the screen off. :/ I'm going to go ahead and factory reset/wipe and restore my apps. Hopefully this will solve my jacked up battery.
EDIT:
I think the battery has improved just a tiny bit after factory resetting. It not exactly satisfactory (about -9% every hour with screen off), but I think that might be normal for smartphones, right?? Under battery stats, it shows "Android OS" as using over 40% of the battery. I don't think that's normal.

That's the main reason why I use The Base. On top of being speedy, there a "fix" option for fast dormancy which helped me tremendously seeing as I rarely use LTE. It's like.. It disables it when not in use, but enables it when needed.

So what is defined as "On Screen time"? I charged my phone all night and this morning unplugged the phone and turned on my screen and told it to not go turn off ever. I was hoping to test out the heating issue, as the previous version would start to get hot after half an hour of screen time. I left it sitting on my desk all day and after about 7 hours it ran down to 15 percent but when i look at "on screen time" it shows only about 5 hours (it should be at 7 hours as i started this when i got to work 7 hours ago...). I literaly just left my phone on and didn't interact with it at all, all day. Seems a whole lot better to me than the phone i got this as a replacement for. But was just wondering what is calculated for on screen time.
BTW: This is stock phone, just pulled out of the factory box. Not rooted, not unlocked, don't even have any accounts tied to it or moved any icons around.
It's best to track battery life/screen on time with every day use. Or for those that are heavy users, with games and such. Just leaving my phone on idle with screen on I can get about 11 hours as all my cores but 1 go offline while one remains at 384MHz.

You can do the fast dormancy fix, even on stock ICS. There's a thread, in this section, that's dedicated to it (there's even an app, if you are unsure of doing the code submission that's outlined in the thread). It makes a HUGE difference, in my battery life.

Using a Note 2 the last few days. Turned on the OG yesterday to take some pics of it as I 'm trading the note 2 for HTC butterfly. Just noticed this a few minutes ago........

Pretty sweet. This is my favorite phone of all time.
Before anyone jumps all over me, I realize the phone has been in standby for all but 5-10 mins of this time. Still can't believe how little battery it has used on standby.
