Anyone pick up a car power adapter yet?
Getting the bugs worked out of my GPS, now I need an adapter...
Here's the car mount I picked up...
It's a 12V device so you don't need anything except a plug that will fit and a power port adapter. Tip is positive. You can make one from parts at Radio Shack if you wanted to.

Correct... I might have to do that if there's not an actual power adapter ready to go for the Tab.... I might take a look at the assortment of Igo adapters.
I really like that mount, seems like it fits really well. What is it and where did you get it?

I got tired of buying new adapters for each device I buy especially as usually need USB power for Droid1 + whatever else so went with a simple dual out with inverter...

I recall you posted about that in the ZT-180 section. In fact, I think that I inspired you to find it.
I don't know if these tablets can be charged through the USB, like phones can.
Picked up the one from RS that wasserkapf mentioned....
Had to get a seperate tip because the 4 in the package didnt fit...

You would not use the USB for Gtab. Instead used your AC 110 adapter that came with Gtab and plug it in the 110 outlet.

One thing to ask about though, the specs says max 2A, did you confirm it supplies 2A @ maximum voltage 12v ? were you able to charge the GTab while the it running with blutooth enabled ? The thing is if it doesn't supply the required 2A, the battery might no be charged properly if at all when the GTab is powered up.

I was able to charge the tab while it was running. You adjust the voltage to 12volts and attach the proper tip. For 4$at big lots it was worth checking out.

im searching for a "normal" hdmi-cable for the 30-pin connector. i dont wanna have a dock or something.
does anybody know were i can find such cable?!
I have send the DOCK sample to the manufacturer, to make a 30pin--HDMI cable out.

Are you sure a cable is possible? Others have suggested that the port needs power and other circuitry (as in the dock) to make the HDMI functional.
Also, I thought that you mentioned you were having it made a month or so ago? What is the delay?
That would be great if there was just an HDMI cable that plugs into the bottom port. too bad they didnt make a HDMI port on the side before. I wont use it enough to get a dock, but if I had just a cheaper cable that would work I would be more inclined to use it. the screen is big enough to where im happy with the media and any movies that I really want to download and watch I will already have on my laptop which has HDMI out for a big screen.

I had given the DOCK to a factory. They spend a lot of time. Since they are not sure whether there is sufficient market, so delayed. But now, they decided to put it produced.

I went to 4 Shacks and everyone said there was nothing made for this port. Commercially that is.
I think I would find a cable more useful than a dock. As mentioned above, though, they will have to find a way to deal with the power issue. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see how it goes.

They just sold Over 10,000 of the Gtablets on Woot the other day. There were several posts directing people to this site as well as discussing the preference of a simple cable VS a dock.
I would hope the market would bear enough to get a run in at this point.
Didn't early reviews of the gtab often say Viewsonic was bunding an hdmi cable in the box?

Being the type of person who doesn't like to put charge cycles on a battery if I don't need to, I like keeping things plugged in when I use them. PLEASE ASUS, sell me a cable that is longer then two feet. i can barely put my tablet on my side table because it pulls the cord. Now, my "hidden" needs to be way out in the open for things to reach... I will pay good money for a LONG cable

Doesnt specify which usb type that cable is in the listing. Just says 30inches long. So I would say that was USB 2.0 as well. Theyre usually blue tipped if they are usb 3 btw and theyre new so theyre not cheap.

I went the other way round... instead of getting a USB extension cable, I assembled a power cord extension cable
I had all the spare parts lying around, so it cost me exactly $0, and maybe 5 minutes of my time...
Has anyone confirmed the 3.0 extension cable works? I I just tried and tested transformer doesn't charge through it. What is worse though is that I breaks the normal charger. I had to unplug everything for 20 minutes to get it to charge again.

Yes, from visions. Amazon had my first order, but I cancelled after seeing visions price on the dock. I think everyone will be gerting the dock in at the same time, so I went on price instead of shipping speed.

I'm sure it will charge fine, but pretty sure you won't be able to use it as a data cable to your pc. I've seen a lot of people confusing usb 2.0 with usb 3.0 cables. Be careful as they are very different.
So, is there any easy way to change the Tab 12.2 and keep USB as a data connection?

Ordered but it's going to be a while. Didn't realise until after I placed the order that it's coming from China. Estimated delivery between June 20 and July 24. Order status says shipped already, but I've had stuff stuck in NY Customs for a few weeks on more than one occasion.

The power point is used to power the connected devices and doesn't power/charge the tablet.
Plus it's only powerful enough to power USB devices, it will not power 2.5 " HDD's for example.

Did you order one of these? If not, I'm curious as to where your getting the specs from. I'm hoping your wrong of course, lol. My external 2.5" HDD runs perfectly with 500ma, so if I had my 2100ma USB wall wort powering this adapter, I would assume I would get 500ma (if the power is being limited) or more out of the 2 usb ports. Unless Samsung is planning on selling an overpriced breakout box, I don't understand why they would cripple such a nice tablet with this one port for everything crap.

I ordered the 1 port version, not the 2 ports version mentioned above.
It's true the tablet can power 2.5 HDD's when connected to any/most OTG cables, but I also wanted to use it with a phone (which needs the HDD to be connected to a power source).
After I sent the 1 port version back, I looked at buying the 2 port version, but after reading the small print, I found out the tablet couldn't be powered/charged, the power point was used to power the connected devices.
Two examples of the 2 ports version I looked at:

Just got this adapter in: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Ports-Micro-USB-2-0-HUB-Charger-Apdater-Cable-OTG-PC-Laptop-Smartphone-Table-B-/161222133020
It does not charge the tablet. It does supply power to the 2 usb ports even when disconnected from the tablet. It is an inexpensive alternative to the Samsung otg to usb adapter I purchased for $19.99.
Hopefully Samsung or some other company comes out with an adapter that can charge the tablet and has usb and hdmi ports.

BTW, Lava contacted me, and said end of June. 2 more weeks. I'll order one as soon as I can, and will report the results. (I'm not 100% use which model I'll be getting, but they should be the same with just parts/ports missing)

I wish they'd make one that also included HDMI.
So you could charge your device, connect a HDD/USB and play the contents to a TV.

I don't think an MHL adapter works with a regular USB port. Not 100% sure though. Just ordered a male USB to female micro USB to try, lol. Even if it doesn't work, that's one adapter I don't already own. here u go guys...meant to post this almost a week ago when i saw the topic. i ordered one for my tab pro 8.4 lte (should work for every variant though) & it works great...u can use hdmi (takes the regular full sized cable) with a hard drive/flash drive or large sdcard connected simultaneously while charging your device but the charger doesnt even need to be plugged up for hdmi to work. The bonus for me was that i won mine in an auction & only paid $4 for it (normally around $10 as u can see from the link which still isnt bad)...if there is any negative about this thing its all the weight/stress resting on that lil micro usb connection which means it basically needs to be placed perfectly flat. They also have a dock version which should solve that issue for around $20 which i plan to order & test at some point...hope this helps other users out with your decision

yep...this DEFINITELY works simultaneously. I use it to watch movies from my usb external on my pico projector that are both connected to the tab pro...u wont be disappointed, in fact, i was surprised that it didnt even need the charger attached because it was necessary for both of my other tabs (the original 7 & the tab plus) although u will want to plug it up anyway or your battery is gonna get burned up pretty quick

You can look for the anker quick charge 2.0 on amazon for like 12-15$. I used both and motorola's stock charger is costly and both perform identically.

I need multiple ports in my car and don't want wires all around my gears, that's why I am asking if it's possible to use this one and relocate it to another area by connecting it to a regular 12v.

As long as you know some basic wiring information and car info like how the electrical wiring is setup. I know people that wired up TVs in there car before they were an package option. They would take one of those portable DVD players, detact the screen. Some rewiring.. This would be a very fun project actually if you were into DIY work. Another option is if you had a one of those cigarette ports you don't use, get some sort of inverter.
