Why is it that my earpiece volume is incredibly low? I can barely hear the one I'm talking to on phone and it's has been like this since I first installed MiniCM beta2.
You should rather move this issue to general or Q & A

Hey all, I can't seem to find anything about changing the minimum volume. Even on the lowest setting my phone is way too loud during calls, I have to hold it away from my head to be able to tolerate it, anyone know of a fix?
If funny how just 3 months ago, people were complaining about how the volume on these builds was too low and here you are complaining about how is too loud...LOL...I guess the chinese were right when they said, beware what you wish for...LOL
what about "wrapping a cloth on the speakers" trick ? Did you tried that ? Sure it will work!!
@ mazdarider LoL
Enjoy ur phone

Mine too. In loud restaurants I can't hear anything.
I don't have the phone yet but I've seen people saying that the headphone volume is a bit quiet.
Obviously "quiet" is a personal thing, but if it is quiet (to me), is there a way to make it louder? Music (and satnav) are the two most important things to me.
Sorry if this is a silly question. I'm an Android noob.
If to mean apart from turning the volume up no, though I've found it to loud to listen to comfortably on full volume and I'm 18 not some old guy haha hope that helps

Not quite true......
If you root then you can use dps manager to pump up the volume (Though it is debatable weather or not this compromises on quality).
You could also use the EQ settings in Power AMP to do a the same sort of thing...
I have installed volume+ by Meltus. It also has some eq and bass boost settings too. You can download it from here and doesnt require root. I also use poweramp. I found the biggest gains on the speaker and bluetooth. Be careful with max boost and volume in speaker mode as I got my speaker to pop and stop working for a few seconds but luckily wasnt damaged.

the title of the thread was called "volume codes". it seemed to have the real deal code fixes, but some said it worked while others said it didnt, so i'm totally confused.
for the people with low volume thru headphones, is this only with the stock headset? or has anyone tried a higher quality headset and sill have low volume?

thanks. i will give it a go
I'm used to an iPhone, this thing at max only goes to 2/3 of what an iPhone does, I've tried things like Volume+ and it doesn't do anything only make the music distorted and unlistenable not actually any louder. Now I appreciate I'm gonna get "I can't listen to it at full volume" replies, but I am saying its no where near the volume of an iPhone. Its ok in quiet environment but outside or at work any ambient noise is clearly heard over the top, its a real let down for me this and to be honest it can be smart to launch missiles but if I can't hear my music I couldn't care less what else it can do.
your doing it wrong
50% volume level fine indoors for me 70% outside .
A large number of same questions re the sound have been asked a search amongst them will find some sound improving tips .
jje
I'm running stock still and at around 70-80% volume with my iems, you already can't hear any ambient noise at all outside or in a train. Maybe try changing your headset for something else.
The earphones that came with this phone are pretty loud, even with ambient noise, if it's not loud enough for you, you may have hearing damage from listening to music loudly for long periods of time
I thought about the hearing damage but then how do we explain the ambient noise? The stock headphones are nasty, mine sound very muddy, I am using Sennheisers but doesn't make any difference.
Had the exact same issue on my Desire S previously.

I don't think this is the issue, sound quality is a different complaint from sound volume, your complaint thus far is about sound volume, and everyone who has replied thus far has said that this phone is pretty loud, I for one cannot listen to this phone at max volume with the stock headphones.
If your complaint is about SQ, then you should make that clear, so, if the volume is too low when maxed, you should maybe compare using another pair of ears or even better, another SGS2, if the issue is SQ, it has already been stated that this is a drawback when compared to the first SGS which had a superior sound processor
My volume isn't as loud as my previous phones.
Could it just be my phone?
Anyone suggest an apk that is safe to use without hurting the speaker.

Might be your speakers/headphones.
I've noticed that depending on what headphones I use, the volume is different.
On my phone, using earbuds, I have to keep the volume quite low actually. if its even 50% its too loud for my ears.

ps Has anyone heard anything about unlocking the bootloader since HTC disabled the tolkiens at HTCDEV?
I updated to lollipop and the volume control is weird now
I used to put the volume at 4 but it sounds too low now. but if I go up to 5 it's wayyyy louder, the increment is suddenly a huge step up from the lower volumes.
I thought I was going deaf but I listened to music on my computer at the same volume that I always do and it sounds loud enough.
What do I do?

I found that the lollipop update made pretty much everything quieter by A LOT.
Not a fan.

It would be fine if the volume increments were equal but it's not either
