I'm running community mod 1.3/rooted/etc etc. Music beta won't sync and it doesn't show my phone on the authorized devices list. However, when I go to install music beta via. desktop browser it can see my phone and knows whether or not I have the program installed. Any clue?
(works fine on the tablet running 3.1 and rooted as well)

Looks like WD released an official remote app for Gen 3 WD live devices (media hub and streaming media player). My problem is that when i go to the market it says that my device isn't supported. I'm running CM7.1. Can anyone post the a link to download said app? I already have another app that does just about everything this remote does but i would like the extra shortcuts to the other services (youtube, pandora, netflix...). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426994 . Though I'm still looking for v1.0.1.
thank you for the response. I'm running CM9 right now so i'm going to have to wait till i dual boot cm7 to give this a try.
Im running Cm9 on my Galaxy Note.
I'm using Spotify a lot, and finding some troubles with the local files section.
I have imported a lot of local files to my desktop version of Spotiy. And when running stock android you just connect the device to the same wifi network (or cable) and it syncs all the tracks automaticly. But now Spotify does not recognize my device, and half my spotify library is unplayable.
Any suggestions to a fix for this?

droidmote
I managed to root the device. But running droidmote is still an issue. I got the server up and running, but when using the client it just doent give a response. When starting the server using the huge button it sometimes doesnt run. Just when using the button several times it goes to status started.
Im using server 3.0.7 and client 3.4.4.
I read something about uinput. My device has the sys/modules/uinput folder. But it just has one file called version. So i think i probably miss you right uinput files. Can somebody help me to compile such a file?

you have uinput. you must only use the last version of the server and the last version of the client otherwise not work.
last server version at this date and time is 3.1.3
last version client at this date and time is 3.4.4
the protocol between the server and the client is changed for that reason you need the last versions.
If you buyed the server why not update ? only if you not buyed you can't update
Hi Zulu99,
Yes it works now, i updated to the latest version.
Which "mediacenter" application do you recommend with this device? I installed XBMC but its terrible slow. I also tried a combination of XBMC nightly build with MXplayer. Playing the videos works fine now. But i think the interface of the Nightly build isnt that great. I prefer the interface of the official XBMC.
I also buyed the full version of Archos player. This player plays everything fine, but the problem with Archos is that it keeps scanning my whole HDD for new media, and i just want to select an folder which should be scanned. Any idea how to fix this?
Or do you know a better solution?
Thx
The best solution would be using the android standard video player in combination with XBMC. Till now the only player which displayed Avatar SBS 3d flawless was the standard android player. All other players like, MOBO, BS player, MX player lagged alot.
Does anybody know how to disable the bottom banner of mx player during full screen. I read something about Gesture applications, but this is more for touch devices and this isnt the case for me.
I use XBMC with MX Player.
I love MX Player for another reason. In combination with DreamDroid, i receive the tv streaming from my satellite decoder DreamBox.
I see all tv channels in any room on my Tablet or on Minix Neo G4 attached via hdmi to any tv. and control it with DroidMote.
I like the zoom-in functions for the video in MX Player and is full compatible and controllable with DroidMote.
look this video, especially the last part:

You can try flashing Finless ROM , it works great for me . It`s a rooted version , stock Android Icons and a lot of useful apps preinstaled .
You can find it on ArmTvTech, com
So you've got a Q, and you've learned how to adb install apps to it... maybe even put a launcher on. But if you've got an NFC capable phone/tablet, you need not mess around with a launcher: your device will be your launcher.
As most of you probably know, the Q ships with a fully capable NFC radio. But for whatever reason, google only ever gave it one official function... beaming out a link the the Q App in the Play Store. Even if you already have it installed. They could have just as easily used a tag to do that job. But I've discovered that if you're running a sideloaded app, the Q will beam that app to your phone. Clearly, we're dealing with a fully beam-compatible device.
However, the Q is programmed to automatically push it's beam out when it finds a device that can receive it. To overcome this, you must open settings (either via a launcher or via adb shell, this is well-documented) and go to the "more" menu. Turn Android Beam OFF while leaving NFC on. This allows the Q to still read your incoming beams (they act just like tags, for compatibility) but it stop apps from opening unexpectedly on your phone.
Once you've done that, you can open any app installed on your Q simply by opening it on your phone/tablet and beaming it over. You'll still need a mouse or keyboard to navigate, but you won't have to futz around with getting to the launcher. This is working on my unrooted Q.
(I don't think this has been discussed before. I hope someone finds it useful!)
Thanks for the info, I was actually wondering whether this was available on the stock firmware. When you say you still need to launch/control with OTG, do things like Youtube links not autoplay when Beamed?

This basically opens the app like an android app on the Q. To click on things you need a mouse and an otg cable.

Animal24 has it right. And yes, it's available stock and unrooted. If you send a video to the Q, it will still work. However, when the video stops, it will return to the open app, not the standard home screen. If I recall correctly, music will play in the background if an app is open, and the lights will not dance.
That all said, I haven't used the Q since the new music lauched. :/

With CM10.1 and XBMC, I'm planning on using the Q to replace my Revue. I'm all OTA so I don't have a cablebox for the Revue to interface with, and with Aptoide I'm going to see if I can get the new Primetime working on the Q for finding and watching shows from Netflix/etc. Hopefully some year Primetime will do generic Amazon links instead of the GoogleTV apps. I'm using the new Play Music on my Q and using my phone as a remote. I've discovered that I can't seem to beam from the new Play Music to another device, or at least when I do it won't autoplay.

How are you doing this? ATM, I'm using BubbleUpNp from both sides, Q and phone. This allows me to still use Google Music as well as All Access. If there is a way to get the stock aplication to work in any way, please share

Hi FadedLite,
I'm using DroidMote to use my phone as a remote to the Nexus Q. I also use ShareKM, another fantastic option that lets me mouse "over" to my Nexus Q from my laptop and control the cursor with my laptop's mouse. One thing I need to figure out is a way to trigger DroidMote Server and ShareKM to start listening on boot, otherwise I have to use my OTG plugged mouse to open the programs and start them up once.
To use Google Music with All Access on the Q, as I stated I'm running CM 10.1 and they have a Gapps package that gives you the Play Store and Play Framework, so you can install Google Play Music and Movies & TV, etc.
I was wondering if exist, or if it's possible to build, a special android release for old smartphones without basic phone functions, to be used just as standalone media player. I mean a basic distribution that allow just playing local audio files or remote files through wifi home network.
I have an old xperia x8, which is a good phone and there are a lot of android based custom roms, but i need to use it just as a media player.
As soon as I power it on it has to show a list of music files to play.

Bump!
I think this is quite an interesting question. I'm using my old Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) as a media player, and I've installed Cyanogenmod on it. I'm playing the songs (local) with the built-in Appolo, but if there were to be a music player ROM, I would be interested.
Maybe using a Slim ROM (SlimBean, SlimKat, etc.) and using the SlimSizer option to get rid of unnecessary things could be a way to get a version of Android stripped of everything you don't need in a music player. However, that won't show the list of tracks when booting the phone.
