Help with downgrading SPL3.03.000 - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I've read around the forums for quite a while trying to work out how to downgrade my SPL from 3.03.000 to 2.08.HSPL. As from what i've read with the guides, to install a NAND android i must be on 2.08.HSPL. I've downgraded to Windows mobile 6.5 v1.66 but my SPL isn't changing.
Thanks in advance.

Did you try HSPL4.exe? Click!

cheers, i saw a post about HSPL3 and 4 but wasn't too sure what it did, just upgrading the radio now.

i've used HSPL4 to go to 2.08.HSPL but when i try to go to the 2.15.50.14 radio, it just hangs on the HTC booterloader screen, the guide says i have to use HSPL3. How do i go to 2.08.HSPL using HSPL3 from 3.03?

You can use hspl4, when instructions say things like "use hspl3" there is a good chance they were written before hspl4 was released. You cannot use hspl3 simply because it doesn't support 3.03.xxxx so can't change your spl.
Since you now have 2.08.hspl hspl3 will now work, however 2.08 from hspl3 and 4 (and hspl2 too) is identical, so there would be no point doing so.
You weren't very clear as to the problem you are getting, what do you mean by "it just hangs on the HTC screen", do you mean with the % progress page?biggest tip for flashing is always put the phone into bootloader manually before you flash. Many times the time taken for the phone to reboot itself into bootloader automatically is too long and the connection times out.
EDIT since you started with spl 3.... you must already have a compatible radio so don't need to change it.

Thanks for the replys, I've put my HD2 onto windows mobile 6.5 V1.66, with HSPL3 on 2.08.HSPL. Im trying to follow the NAND android tutorial here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11097380) and put my radio onto 2.15.50.14, but everytime i start the .exe with the radio file my phone completes as if there is no error, reboots but hangs on the white screen with the green HTC writing and the red writing with the radio version etc. doesn't appear, i've tried waiting 30 minutes for it to appear but it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas on what i might be doing wrong?

Never mind, i think the radio mirror i was using was faulty, its working fine now. Thanks for your time

I have the problem that i can not flash the Android NAND version.
I have the 2.08 HSPL and the 2.15.50.14 Radio.
I took MAGLDR113 and this is installed.
I choose point #5 "USB flash", started the DAF.exe on my Windows XP machine (i am admin) und it tells me it gets no connection.
What can i do?

hi there i also try to install nand adroid my boot screen reads like this pb81100 HX-BC
spl-3.03.hspl xe
0x05
cotullahspl 0x30
can i install nand android ???

Nandroid will ONLY work with 2.08.hspl, you have 3.03.hspl, have a guess.....

Noob and Android 2.2

I am trying to get Android 2.2 on my HD2. I was able to successfully flash my HSPL. However I am having trouble flashing the radio and the winrom. Everytime I try to flash a winrom or the radio my phone reboots and the red, green, blue, and white screen appaers and of course the flash fails. I orginally started out with the spl 2.10.0.0 and I was able to successfully flash that to spl-2.08.HSPL using the HSPL3 exe.

This is what I see on the red, green, blue, and white screen. I can then pull the battary to reset the phone but I still does the same thing when I reset it.
How do I get the phone to stop rebooting and allow me to flash the it with a winrom. Thanks for the help.
I See you have TMOUS.
First of all: NEVER flash 2.xx.51 Radios this will result in a brick.
Now onto your question:
What exactly are you trying to flash, and how?
The rebooting into the coloured screen is expected behaviour.
This will remain a bit, then flashing will start.
Are you not to quick?
What acually happens? Does your flash reach a certain percentage?
Have you tried flashing back the T-mobile shipped ROM (via SD Card)?
I am trying to flash the NRG Cookies rom or the NRG GTX rom or the Asterois Standard rom, and I was going to flash the 2.11.50 radio since there was no CUU in the 2.12.50.20_2 radio download.
When I plug my phone up to my laptop and connect it to activesync the connection is good and works well. Once I go through the CUU for any of the above mentioned after I click on the "flash" button the phone turns off the connect to active sync dies and the colored screen comes up, then the CUU comes back telling me that there has been an error and my device is more longer connected and the flash was unsuccessfull , the flash process ever gets passed 0%. Then I have to remove the battery from my phone in order to get it to reboot, and it reboots just fine back to stock windows. Ever tried flashing back to tmobile rom (1) because the rom has never been flashed and (2) because i did not know that I could or even how to.
If Im reading this right your HSPL is 2.08?? If so then your good to go with that HSPL. My HD2s were always 2.10 out of the box. I would use Cotulla HSPL3 and hack it to 2.08 and be done with it. Now you can flash a new radio over and the ROM of your choice. Just a small piece of advice. Done flash a radio under 2.10. For me radio 2.11 works great on all the Androids Ive used and WinMo ROMs. Enjoy
Thanks for all the help guys. I figured out what I was doing wrong.
The problem was that I was using Windows 7 on my MACBook and everytime the rom started to flash the device would discconnect from the VM of windows 7. So I tried to flash it on my windows 7 box and the radio and NRG rom flashed flawlessly.
Thanks for all the help.
Hi there,
i got a problem with putting android 2.2 on my HD2. when i press HARET, it gives me a screen where i can press run, but than i got a message saying "Cannot open script file\Storagecard\default.txt"
Maybe the problem is in the file i downloaden on this site. when i downloaded it, ther is in the map STARTUP CONFIG an map called HD2, but the file in there says "for future release for HD2"
do you guys know the problem?

448RAM not 576RAM

My ultimate goal is to put Gingerbread on my phone Via the NAND Method.
I am starting with the latest version of the windows ROM from the HTC website for 02.
First I added HSPL3 to my phone so when I hold the VOL Button and Power I load to HSPL screen with version 2.08.HSPL. I presume this is correct.
Now I upgrade the radio to 2.08.50.XX I still only have 448RAM, how do i get this to 576RAM so i can install MAGLDR 1.11
You do not actually need the 576 in order to flash to Android, you only need to have a radio that enables the 576. In order to actually get it to show you need the correct radio together with a rom that "unlocks" the extra ram. As long as you have 2.08.hspl and a 50 series radio of at least 2.08.50 then you're good to go. You also should head over to the correct forum before someone flames you (ie this one is for winmo ). Refer to the link in my signature on Flashing NAND Android roms and you will get all of the necessary steps there.
not exactly true... you need to have HSPL and correct Radio to enable 576MB RAM - SPL3.03 that comes with 3.14 ROM doeas not enable 576MB RAM - I have tried that.
(Same Person was borrowing Stephiepea account to post my question)
Cheers Clyde for the help, i'm obviously a Newb when it comes to this. I tried to install MAGLDR 1.11 to my phone by your method and once it completed on my phone it rebooted but not to the boot loader, it just loadedto the O2 boot screen and stayed there didn't even boot to windows mobile again.
Daekin can you give me in laymans terms what HSPL and Radio I NEED differently to the ones I indicated in my first post.
I've also tried loading a custom "Energy" Rom then tried loading MAGLDR and again it boots to the NRG sting and stays there. please someone help. ive been trying for days.
Incase it helps when I boot to HSPL my screen info is
PB81100 HX-BC

Try MAGLDR 1.12 and the included latest radio (2.15.50.14).
1. Connect by USB to the PC.
2. Hold down volume button and power up to get in 4 color screen, make sure it says USB at the bottom.
3. Flash the new radio.
4. Hold down volume button and power up to get in 4 color screen, make sure it says USB at the bottom.
5. Flash MAGLDR.
6. Hold the powerbutton down to enter MAGLDR.
7. Choose option 5 to USB flash a ROM (by using volume down button again).
It worked for me, I've also 2.08HSPL.
For the MAGLDR and radio check your PM.
GL!
Thanks Eric,
I havn't recieved anything via PM but I downloaded MAGLDR 1.12 and the same happens. I get stuck on the O2 Splash screen.
things i've tried:-
HSPL3 - Tried to install this, I get The success message apear on my PC but not the we hacked it message on my phone, is this because I already had a HSPL on my phone.
I've tried multiple radios with .50 which shoul alow the 576MB RAM but my phone never shows this only the 448MB RAM in the Device infomation.
After both the above, my phone boots back to windows.
then I try MAGLDR once it completes I boot to the O2 Splash screen and never progress to the bootloader or windows, even if reboot and hold down the power button.
Hmm, that doesn't sound well.
Maybe you can try to flash with a custom WinMO rom first, like Energy.
I had the Energy Rom installed before I used MAGLDR.
You can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
I think it should also flash with the 4 color bootscreen connected to USB.
After flashing a custom rom try to flash with MAGLDR again.
Hope it works, GL!
edit: I don't know if mine says 576 ram, because I don't know how to check that in WP7, which s*cks anyway.
Any STOCK ROM with a .50 Radio will NOT enable the 576MB RAM
You need a CUSTOM ROM (576MB trick enabled) with a .50 Radio to enable the 576MB RAM

Wrong! sorry guys i had to jump in here because there is some crap advise being given.
First off the latest wwe (not o2 branded) does enable the extra ram (as do all tmous roms). Where do you think radio 2.15.50.14 came from? secondly AFAIK (and i could be wrong here and i haven't checked it) magldr wipes the nand chip when it is installed therefore all you will ever see after a magldr install is the boot splash unless you reboot the phone and then install wp7 or android (wm6.5 is not yet supported but will be in magldr 1.13)
What the op has done up until he expected windows to boot was good. All he needs to do is install magldr 1.12, reboot holding down the power key and then follow the instructions for installing android to nand.
Handily, using google, i found this link. That should sort you out. I also found this video. Half of what comes out of his mouth at the start is rubbish but the actual steps are good.

HELP! cant boot. stuck at white screen.

Ok so i tried to install the Android NAND version on my debvice however i skipped an important step and i cant fix it. i didnt install HSPL 2.08.
My device had 1.42... well i installed MAGLDR 1.11 on 1.42hspl and now i am stuck at a white screen.
i headed over to the HSPL 2.08 thread and theres two files, HSPL.zip and HSLP2_RUN.zip ... if i run the first one i get the "We hacked it screen".
i simply dont know what to do. my phone keeps booting up and saying:
PB8100 HX-BC
SPL-1.42.HSPL XE 0x05 0x40
CotullaHSPL
please help
What do you want to do? To flash back to winmo, put your phone into bootloader mode and flash a rom.
If you still want to go to Android, run HSPL2.exe and select 2.08.hspl in the drop down box. Also make sure that you have the correct radio - 2.08.50 or higher 50
THANK YOU for the quick response. but i want to move forward to Android.
i looked over your post again and spotted my error. when i ran the HSPL2 on the PC i was selecting 1.42 on the list. i guess i read it wrong. now i picked 2.08 HSPL and it booted into the boot menu! THANKs
Pleasure m8, glad you got it sorted

This will have already installed the correct radio
No, the radio isnt important for warranty, only that its a stock rom, and MOST IMPORTANT hspl is not there.
SO, depending what stock rom you flashed (since you didnt tell us) you need to run hspl.exe and set teh correct spl
SO, if you flashed stock rom version 3.14, you must run hspl4.exe and choose 3.03.0000
if you flashed any other version, run hspl2.exe and set 1.66.0000
If you have a tmous (t mobile USA) then use hspl4.exe to set 2.08.0000 or 2.10.0000 or (if you flashed ver 3.14 rom) 3.03.0000
thanks for support.. now... mmm... i not remember which stock rom i have installed on my HD2.. :s ... how can i see the number of the version?
i think is this:
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_ITA_3.14.408.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
but i have also
RUU_Leo_HTC_ITA_1.66.408.1_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.51.07_Ship.exe
and not remember which i have installed.. sure, i have downloaded the first up.. but maybe, in confusion, i have installed the second... (it was on my pc since july)
ps
it's not tmobile , it's a normal version not branded by telephone companies.
it was buyed in Italy, so EU - not USA.
When the phone boots, and you get the splashscreen, look at the info bottom of screen, R G D that's the radio ver, rom ver and protocol (don't need this)
ok, here we are my screen:
R 2.15.50.14
G 15.42.50.11U
D 3.14.04666
what does it's mean? which hspl and what also i have to install? i'm really newbie about all this... thanks everybody 4 support
Compare the numbers to the numbers in the filenames you posted above.
Means you have rom 3.14, radio 2.15.50 and need spl 3.03.0000
so, now... my hd2 run already WM 6.5...
for install the spl i use hspl4.exe and i launch the application after reboot of telephone with power+vol down? i don't want destroy my smartphone
thanks
Yea, either from bootloader or from within running winmo, but I recommend from within bootloader, since there is less chance of USB timeout.
Don't worry so much, its pretty tough to brick a regular hd2 by flashing. Its the tmous that comes with an idiot kill switch, not the regular.
ok, i have done it!
when i start phone with power+vol down it's say to me, in the screen with the four colours:
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL-3.03.0000 X3
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
it's all ok? now can i send to repair the telephone with the warranty?
spl and OS are installed.
missing somewhat else?
thanks
yep that will do fine.
I think very hard to do

HD2 has white screen, can't uninstall HSPL

Hi
I have a flashed HD2 with these problems.
In Bootloader it says
PB81100 SS-BC
SPL-208.HSPL 8G XE
0X05CotullaHSPL 0X50
If I try to install HTC RUU_Leo_S_HTC_GER_3.14.407.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe it breaks after 1% it says 270 error
HD2 reboots and again white Screen. When I put off/on battery and press Volume down I see bootloader display.
I tried to flash with sd Card, leoimg.nbh on the sdcard breakes after 10%
it says
00018003
LEOIMG.nbh -FAIL
Radio-Fail
I think I have a bootloader problem. How can I remove SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE and set the new orginal SPL ?
here bepe says :
4) Uninstallation
Only way to remove the HSPL is to flash an original SPL from SD card.
- Take any "RUU_signed.nbh" from a ship ROM and copy it to SD card.
- Rename it to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.

How can I set my bootloader back to original htc ?

I had installd Windows 6.5 everthing was working perfect, then I tried to install Android and clk mod now I get the same in the 1. Posting from me.
I have SPL-3.03 HSPL in the boatloader but I get allways Error 270 I can't uninstall 3.03 HSPL
does anybody have an Idea?
Radio_2.15.50.14.nbh installation fails, but custom rom like energy sucesses. After that again white screen
nobody knows the solution?
You have a stuck radio. Fairly common, with a variety of symptoms. The radio wont let itself be changed which is why custom roms and splashscreens don't have a problem.(radio gets flashed at the start of flashing which is why it always fails around 8-10%) This issue can affect spl to a greater or lesser degree, some people can change spl some can't, some find flashing an older (but correct for that phones cid and region) stock rom, some find chilling the phone allows the flash to take allowing the radio to finally change, some never get anything to flash again.
hi
thank you for your answer. My Bootloader shows
SPL-3.03.HSPL XE
0X05
0X50
if I try to run Task29 via USB Cable, I get Error 270, it breaks sometimes at 16%
reflash 3.03 HSPL with HSPL 4 says it is successfull, but if I try to flash a rom with usb again it shows 270 Error, so my logical deduction is, reflash with HSPL4 does not really flash and it gives wrong answer because others like task28 leo customRUU can't flash over usb cable. HSPL 4 says success but this answer must be fake, after reboot 3.03HSPL remains in the bootloader, I tried to downgrade to 2.08HSPL no chance,
My System is Windows XP SP3 when I connect USB Cable to my HD2 it shows USB in the bootloader but why does it break if I try to flash over USB Cable and give an error 270 ? there must be a connection problem between my laptop and HD2.
I would like to know
Is there any way to flash HSPL4 over microSD card?
Can I see which Radio Rom has been installed ?
its a bit strange
Radio Rom Radio_2.15.50.14 istallation via USB Cable fails after 4%
and via microSD Card ~96-99%
I get
00018003

as i said,. you have a radio image that isnt allowing itself to be overwritten. My name for it is 'stuck radio' and some people fgind the radio still works fine with, for example, custom roms, it just cant be changed, others find the phone always hangs on grey bootscreen, yet more find taht hspol/spl flashes seem to work but nothing changes, some find chilling it in teh freezer lets a rom flash and suddenly all is well, and yet more find the freezer trick seems to work but doesnt, and yet more try and try and try to sd card flash with their CORRECT stock rom and suddenly without warning teh flash works.
My advcie, Prepare yourself for disappointment, but keep trying, and most importantly READING there are hundreds of threads about this.
