[Q] Flashing on Aria - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys anD GIRLs. semi-N00B here. tehehe. I say semi because I spent the last week learning evvvverything i could about "rootin'" my Area. phew, there's a lot to learn ... but I like to be fairly sure of how things work before I attempt nething./ I just have 1one question, before I do this to my DEVice... How do I flash a rom to my phone if the Aria doesn't support flash? Is there a guide to modifying flash lite for this? I can't find it.
Thanks in advance. Luv yas.

WTF NOOOOB!! YOU POSTED IN THE WRONG SECTION!! UGH. THIS SHOULD FREAKING BE POSTED IN DEVELOPMENT...i swear..noobs..anyways on a lighter note
welcome to the wonderful world of android!! im pretty new myself but have been trying to do this too. ive been reading various wikis and have come up with this(beware i am about to attempt this this weekend myself)
1)you need to be on froyo 2.2 (att official)
2)you need to pull out flashlite.apk using the android sdk
3)you need to decompile flashlite.apk with baksmali
4)you need to delete the flash files and replace them with romflash.txt
5)recompile with smali and rename it to romflash.apk
6)push it with adb
7)FLASH ROMS AND SCORE!!!!
good luck!! and hope to see moar of u around the forums!
YAY ROM FLASHERZ
ps. does anyone know what cm7 is? can you explain it to me? the guides arent telling me enough...
ps.s to the OP-heres a wonderful guide if smali is to complicated. this tool can help you decompile flash lite and works wonders!!
miui-au. co m/ add-ons/ apktool/(cant post links yet..sorr)

I'm not sure what Megamansrighthandman is talking about, but it isn't correct.
It sounds like both of you are confused about the use of the word "flash". Be careful with the terminology. When someone talks about "flashing a ROM", that simply means installing a ROM. It has nothing to do with Adobe Flash or HTC's Flash Lite. I understand the confusion though. I hope this clears things up.
The process for setting up your phone to be able to install custom ROMs basically breaks down to these steps:
1) "Root" the phone. This is accomplished by using the Unrevoked tool from a computer. There is more information about this in the other sections of this forum. This can only be done on phones that do NOT have the official Android 2.2 update installed. If you have 2.2, you can't root without special hardware.
2) Once "rooted", you can download ROM files and install them through the Clockwork recovery. Installing a ROM is generally referred to as "flashing" (there is a reason it is called this, but it has nothing to do with Adobe Flash).

Wait!! I need 2.1 not 2.2?? I had 2.1 but updated because megamanstightgland told me too. can I still use his methode, since i started already? i was at step 2 and didnt know how to pull out nething (im a girl so i never had to do that b4 tehehe) i didnt want too ask two many noob questions, so i ended up to googling searching his steps to figure out how to do some of them. (i think he meant abd not sdk) here's what I did after updating to 2.2....
[email protected]:~$ sudo su
[sudo] password for luvsmyBfdick:
[email protected]:/home/luvsmyBfdick# sh abd pull flashlite.apk
sh: Can't open abd
[email protected]:/home/luvsmyBfdick# dm -f pull abd out -m flashlite.apk /system/data
dm: command not found
[email protected]:/home/luvsmyBfdick# chmod -v remount adb pull* flashlite.apk /homo/user/system
chmod: invalid mode: `remount'
Try `chmod --help' for more information.
[email protected]:/home/luvsmyBfdick# --help
--help: command not found
[email protected]:/home/luvsmyBfdick# -x <85> /tools/win/usb drivers -r/w flashlite.apk
bash: syntax error near unexpected token `85'
Do you think there is a problem with my permission? I have a flash drive (not adobe) with updated permissions on it, but i canot currently find it.
ps. it's not like i wasnt prepare. i installed linux yesterday in my computer cause i read it make this easier... just trying to surprise my boyfriend with a rooted area for his birthday sunday. thanks so much for the help so far guys. your great!

now im readin that i have to be in root on my phone, not just my computer, to do meganmanswhitechesttanned's methode. i really need to help with one of you geeks. ;(

Help With Root

hey guys, been a short term fan of android, and i recently (or what i thought so) rooted my X10i with the original RB..20 Firmware.
Today i updated to the new R2BA026 firmware. and my device appears routed but it not, how do i go about rooting this firmware to remove the annoying Moxier apps etc.
Plz Plz Plz Help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740240
Read this thread !!!
I just found it Lol
Thank you for telling me anyhow.
im really stuck on rooting it even with the instructions. im in the CMD.exe and all im getting is it cannot find the files even though they are directly on my C drive and also it IS connected via USB / Development mode
hellllllllllllllllp!
do you have adb installed ?
I prefer this method - forum.xda-developers.com, having tried the other today it's a bit more complicated afterwards imo trying to run adb.
the other way you said to me i tried on my unlocked X10i, but it wont work on this build as its already above the 24 build.
Ive downloadd the SDK and i have the ADB.exe in the kit but am i looking at the wrong thing? how would i install it if it just runs a cmd.exe?
With this method you can root any regional firmware, atleast up to 026 and you will get updates from seus, root will be gone but its hopefully just to root the new firmware again.....
Saw somewhere a full script with adb inside no need to install it on the computer but atm i can find it
ok well, erm, which method would be better, ?? shall i do the original root procedure i did before flashing the files on to the phone?

extract the exploid_x10 to a folder with the same name directly under C:
then put the adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll,AdbWinUsbApi.dll into same folder
then cd to that folder with command promt and then run runme.cmd
that should do it
ok well so far so goo most of the files are moving on to the SD card BUT...
c:\exploid_x10mini>adb push su /sdcard/su
failed to copy 'su' to '/sdcard/su': Permission denied
thats what im getting on my Cmd panel.
Sorry, adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll,AdbWinUsbApi.dll should be put into Exploid_x10/FILES folder.........
so do i have to create a folder inside the exploid_x10mini? because the files are already there

rootshell
rootshell: permission denied
sorted YEY!!!
Thank you for all your help. Im not a complete noob ith computers, i know quite a bit but, dealing with android is a bit of a new experience.

How do I remove the Timescape and other crap after rooting with this method? If you didn't guess, I am a complete noob with Android.

[Q] *US Streak Owners*

Hello,
I have updated my AT&T Dell Streak to 2.1 and now I am in need of the original stock bootanimation.zip file. Can someone with a Dell Streak, with build 6601, run this command:
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip ./
and post it to this forum or provide a link?
I will use this to replace the 2.1 boot animation (O2). Thanks in advance!!!
Last but not least, does anyone know how to remove the default RSS Widgets? Thanks again!!
More info on how to use the adb command:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UF5w1dKe2U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1SOSXwkc_8
If you can give me a little more detail and a step by step on how to exactly do this, I will do it for you.
Is everything still working ok with the Root you did last night? I am thinking of doing this tonight.
Everything is Fine!!!
Hey @mjaverto, thanks for willing to help! And yes, everything is fine; root worked perfectly!! It is what allowed me to update to 2.1 :-D
As a matter of fact I have modified my 2.1 ROM quite a bit:
- Removed O2 boot animation
- Disabled the black popup window that replaced the standard menu bar. I am back to using the 2.1 grey menubar
- Removed/disabled bloatware:
Twitter
Facebook
Getting started guide
Outlook task and notes
RSS Widgets
AmazonMP3 (Replaced with US Version from my Nexus One)
Also modify the build prop to boot US Locale by default and other minor changes. Now all that's left is to change H symbol to 3G symbol and add stock US bootaninmation.zip. That's where you come in. LOL!
Anyways, I am not sure how familiar you are with the Android SDK, but it comes with a tool called "adb." This tool allows you to do all sorts of debugging. It also give you the ability to push and pull files from the Android device's file system.
What I need someone to do is install/download adb and the command from my earlier post. If its done correctly, you will be able to pull files from the Streak's filesystem.
The file I need is:
bootanimation.zip (adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip)
I am not sure what OS you use, but here is some more info on adb (Windows specific): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UF5w1dKe2U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1SOSXwkc_8
Not super familiar but I think I can do this for you. I'm guessing I will need the root done first to be able to use "adb"? Maybe you can share your 2.1 Rom with me after you change these last few things as I'd love to upgrade.
*Windows 7 64x by the way. Should that work ok?
If I have any questions I'll shoot you a PM.
Actually...
No, root isn't necessary. You will only be pulling (copying) files from the filesystem; root is only needed when you want to write to the filesystem and run root system apps.
...And there is one problem with sharing my ROM... I have no idea how to package it. Dell uses, as far as I can tell, a proprietary ROM package (.pkg) format. The best I could do is walk you through the process of getting 2.1 installed. I am basically modifying the ROM on the device.
Hopefully, someone will develop some neat way to backup, modify, and package ROMs for easy installation. Heck, a way may exist... Maybe someone could chime in and enlighten me.
I am not sure about Windows 7, I run Linux. My guess is that you shouldn't have any problems. PM me if you have any more questions or concerns.
***Edit: Is that path you have above correct for sure? I keep getting remote object does not exist.
Upload: I attached tools.zip. *Note the two files inside are the only two files I could find named BootAnimation on my phone which is stock 1.6 ATT US.
Please let me know if I can help with anything else.
Try this...
Try this:
Code:
adb shell ls /system/
and post the output
I posted two "BootAnimation" files I found above
See output:
Cool!
Now type:
Code:
adb shell ls /system/media/
Let see what this produces. Hopefully we will see the file:
Code:
bootanimation.zip
listed.
Nope
Nope sorry. I did a search of the whole device with Astro File manager and it searched all these folders. The above two are the only ones with boot animation.
A search for "boot" yielded these 4. There is no bootanimation.zip:
system/bin/reboot/
system/bin/bootanimation/ (attached in above post)
system/customization/BootAnimation/BootAnimation.xml (attached in above post)
system/bootpriority.xml
sorry.
Private msg...
@mjaverto, check your private messages...
Here ya go mate
I zipped up the bootanimation folder for you from my US Dell Streak Build 6601
Enjoy!

I was alble to flash the clockwork recovery rom but could not boot it when the device rebooted...

You Are Man!! Thanks!
Thanks! You even grabbed the images! Awesome!!
Anyways, looks like you missed a step with getting 2.1. You need to install the stock UK recovery image: http://www.romraid.com/paul/streak/recovery.stock.img
This will get your recovery image to accept UK ROMS. From here, you should be able to flash 2.1 directly.
See @Greenarcher707's excellent post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7668927&postcount=6) on this forum for detailed guide. Since you have already installed the clockwork recovery image, you should be able to skip steps 1 and 2.
Once you have downloaded the image: (update-6941-21.pkg | http://www.mediafire.com/?bb9cvm5uaap2z8k), save it to the root of your SD as "Update.pkg."
The last step will be rebooting the phone into the recovery mode by holding "volume up" + "volume down" simultaneous and pressing the power key. From here it should be self explanatory.
Good luck and let me know how it goes. Hit me up if you have any more questions and thanks again for your help!!!
US Stock ROM Build 6601?
Awesome!! well I see you have to flash the UK stock rom which has a lower build than ours...Is there anywhere you can download the stock US Rom Build 6601 in case we want to go back to stock? Since the nandroid backup is not working in clockwork..I cannot do a a rom backup

Unfortunately, I don't know if a stock 6601 ROM exist. I figured that at some point the internets would produce one :-D But for now, those of us that took the plunge are stuck with 2.1 for now.
Thanks cemian!!
FYI...
I just completed the port of the stock boot animation to the 2.1 image. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7681745#post7681745 for more information.
Thanks again @cemian for your assistance!!

I find it is alot easier than WM once you get the hang of it. I also find that Android phones are harder to brick than WM phone, but not impossible. Just make sure you do plenty of research before you take the plunge. Good luck!!

[Q] [URGENT]Help Needed For the people who are still n00bs

TO GET TO THE POINT, AND TO AVOID MY *****ING, SCROLL DOWN
OK, imma recent migrating bird from the sinking WinMo ship.
Just got this phone from LG, nice phone, but the flashing guides here aren't so easy to understand
I'll quote a 6 line instruction from the Prime/Megatron ROM thread which is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870640
How to flash:
First, reboot into recovery via 3-button-combo, ADB, terminal, w/e.
Partition SDcard (swap: 0, ext: 512), ext2-ext3, then ext3-ext4 it.
Wipe data (data,cache,dalvik-cache,ext).
Connect the device to PC, copy Megatron over to the SDcard, disconnect.
Flash it via "flash zip from sdcard"
Reboot
Read important notes below
That's it.

SERIOUS? THATS IT???????????
I have no idea what all that means, and so are millions of sad puppies who migrates from WinMo's or dreaded Dumb Phones like the ones they sell in 7-11
SO, the point is (you can stop scrolling now)
PLEASE PLEASE PLLLEEEEAAASE make a easy guide for flashing, possibily a video. Or you could make it easy enough for me to understand, and ill make the guide.
BTW, in the long term, it WILL educate FURTHER n00bs.
Thanks in advance. Sorry for the *****ing. Love u guys
OK, OK, OK, you have got me!! I will prepare some "dictionary" for all noobs. Maybe it will sounds crazy, but when I logged-in I had no idea what android is. OO is my first android phone. I have got everythink from whole this forum, but I was there since thread about P500 started so it wasn't too hard catch and read every post here. So, all informations are there, but sometimes is not possible find them.
So i just have to read everything? Optimus One Android Dev or General?
Great! Thanks a lot
But gonna go to sleep.. I'm sorry lol this is my last week of winter break and its midnight. Bye!

About 95% of posts it will be useless because there are also some question, helps, and another stuff. There is too much words and useless trash. You also need know basics of unix-like systems to understand what are guys (and you) trying to do in adb shell, what is root and for what it is, what # mean in command line, and so on.
custom ROM is mainly for experienced user. At least, experienced in unix-like system, because android is based on it. Tools like busybox bringing next tools known from unix and some programs needs it for running. And another and another words and name what is normal for advanced user, not for n00bs here.
Because that all stuff it takes some time that I will have some usable noob dictionary.
This is a good and pretty much complete guide.
forum.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-roms-hacks/48543-idiots-guide-rooting-custom-roms-optimus-s-edition.html
Rooting is the same, you just have to change some commands for the custom recovery but once you get there you'll know. And I recommend rooting via Adb, its easier for later.
btw, don't know if its a problem posting the link, if it is, sorry.
One thread is enough!
Do not do this again or you will have an infraction for spam.
Cheers

[Q] How to Root Toshiba Regza IS04

I'm a complete noob and I've searched the forums and can't find an answer to my questions. (I'm sure there's some answer in Japanese on a Japanese forum somewhere, but my Japanese is not up to that level.)
I have a Toshiba Regza IS04 from AU (in Japan).
Running Android 2.2.2
Baseband Version 5014.1907.39
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9-rel [email protected] #1
Build Number FFK300
I have been researching rooting on and off for months since I first got the phone and have decided I would like to root it. My reasons for rooting:
1. I want to get rid of all the apps that were pre-installed that I don't use.
2. I would like to have the latest version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. (I doubt that another authorized upgrade from au is ever going to happen, since the 2.1 to 2.2 upgrade.)
It seems from reading forums that there are special builds of an OS depending on the phone?
My questions:
1. What is the best way to backup my phone before rooting?
2. What would be the best rooting method for my phone (SuperOneClick?)?
3. How can I (or even can I) upgrade my Android to 4.0?
Thanks for any help!!
Sam
To answer my own question, in case any one else wants to know:
Okay... it looks like I cannot post external links... until I post 8 times, which I don't really predict doing... so I'm going to try just removing the http at the beginning and see if it will go.
Superoneclick v2.2 does NOT work with this phone. It gets through "Rooting device... Step #7" but cannot remount.
Unrevoked does not work.
Z4root also does not work.
But I found a Japanese site with directions that did work! YES!!
hibari.2ch.net/test/read.cgi/smartphone/1320415141/
Somewhere in the page was the following information and link:
■auto_rootkit_is04_v0.5+suhax
hotfile.com/dl/134084004/f59084e/auto_rootkit_is04_v0.5suhax.zip.html
I downloaded the zip file and extracted it. I clicked on adb.exe first and then clicked on the auto_rootkit_is04 batch file. I just hit enter after each step. (It's in Japanese, but all it says is each step it is doing and then to hit any key.)
The first time I ran it, it did not work. The second time, I turned my phone off and on again before trying anything, and bingo: I had root!
Some of the Japanese threads were saying something about the problem with superoneclick was that the is04 took too long to mount and so there was an error. At least, I think that's what it said. My Japanese is okay, but not always good enough for this type of stuff.
I hope this can help someone else.
Thank you so much for this response!
I have the same phone, and I've been wanting to root it for a long time. There were so many pre-installed applications that are just hogging room, especially since I can't read Japanese well enough (yet).
-T
I hope it works for you too!
I spent probably the equivalent of 2-3 days searching over the last few weeks, but couldn't find anything that I was comfortable with trying.
This morning, I finally got the nerve up to try superoneclick and was really disappointed when it wouldn't work. Then I started trying all kinds of methods, and about 8 hours later finally came across the method that worked!
It's probably the only thing frustrating sometimes about having a Japanese phone: lack of English support!
Now I'm just hoping I don't break it! I'm backing up all the apps with Titanium backup before I start deleting them one by one. I would hate to delete something that is crucial to the system and not be able to restore it. I'm also looking into other ways to backup the system.
One word of warning. Your au one market will not work unless you do one more step. It's mentioned in English in the readme file. I didn't bother because I never download from it anyway. (Although, I probably should just so I'll keep getting updates on some of the J apps that I do have.)

hi!
I am a newbie here and like you all, I would also like to root my regza phone. Can someone give a working auto_rootkit because the link above is not working. I have searched it as well on the net but still all will lead me to dead hotfile link. Or someone could send me the file instead to my yahoo mail [email protected] tnx in advance
And also i have downloaded this rootkit instead from IS04 and downloaded. After dowloading, I click the adb file and it appears a command screen with commands running so fast. Next i did click the root file and there appeared a command screen with all sorts of command running so fast. My question is, i did not received any confirmation that the rooting process was succesfull. And also i have read to other forums that one thing you will notice that rooting was successfull is that 'superuser" will be automatically installed.
Please help me on this one. To be honest I started exploring this process since i have this phone and there are apps that i wanted to uninstall not unless i root the phone.
Thank you in advance

Question to get root on phone regza
samkk75 said:

Hi
I have this phone too. And I try to get root, you can send for me the link of you downloaded and explain for me how you made it.
Other question, I can use this phone to call in brasil?
Thank you.
:good:
My phone just had this phone and I'm trying to update it before rooting. It came with 2.1-update 1 OS version and I'm trying to update the phone to it's latest official 2.2.2.
I've downloaded the necessary 256mb file update but it didn't work. Even tried using the recovery but is still not working.
Based on my research about this phone, There's no way to update without the phone downloading the app from the official website, using the SIM and au logins.
We've lost the sim (UIM) card that came with the phone. So I guess its stuck on its current OS. I'm having trouble installing apks (Gingerbreak and even normal apps) as it always gives me the error "parsing error" or something.
Is there anyone could help?
EDIT:
I have successfully updated the phone from Android 2.1-update1 to Android 2.2.2.
Download all the necessary files here:
http://www.fmworld.net/product/phone/is04/
I have used the method of updating from the least upgrade and up to the latest. I have managed to download 3 separate files for the upgrade, namely:
IS04_RC2_RC3RE_DL.zip
IS04_RC_4.zip
IS04_TO_SP_FYRC_4.zip <- froyo update
I have extracted all the files on the sd card. make sure that the ".enc" file is found on the root of the SD Card and on the "prg" folder.
I have updated it using the recovery mode (power + volume up + camera button).
I am now currently trying to Root the device using Gingerbreak and seems that it's taking too long to root.
Also. I have able to root the 2.1-update OS using z4root.

Thx so much for your posts.
I am so glad to finally find someone with the same phone, the same problem and intentions
I do, however, need more info:
Did you extract the files into any particular folder? You obviously hooked up in de-bug mode, but did you command prompt anything?
I tried your steps but get nothing to 'hit enter' on. I have also tried the other (different version) toolkit.
You can IM me or email or post or come around and root my phone yourself - I will sell you my car, house, wife...
... as you can tell I am a little frustrated ...
lets just IM/email for now
Thx in advance,
Kaz

Evo Native Voicemail

I spent a lot of time batting my head against the wall trying to get native voice-mail to work on my Boost Evo 3D. Many questions and threads were found but no clear cut instructions or solutions were to be found. So when I finally got the native voice-mail notifications working I decided to pass along what I found. I hope this helps someone. I'd like apologize ahead of time if I did not put this thread in the right spot. I am not trying to take credit for anyone else's posts if any of this info seems familiar this is just a combo of what worked for me. From what I read this works for more than just Boost-Mobile. Anyway here is what I found and what I did.
You will need:
Root - For Evo, Unrevoked is recommended
http://unrevoked.com/
For Evo Shift, instructions to root are available on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=932153
ADB - Download and install the Android SDK
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Patched Phone.apk -
http://www.mediafire.com/?u0uabfzjkebyxk8
Start phone in recovery mode
To enter recovery, shut down phone then restart by pressing and holding
Volume Down and Power at the same time, then use the Volume buttons to select
Recovery. Performing a Nandroid backup is highly recommended.
Once in Recovery, mount /system
Copy Phone.apk from the "3.70.651.1" folder to where you've installed ADB
Run your system command/terminal prompt and change folder to where you've installed ADB (left shift and right click to start command prompt inside the android-sdk/platform-tools folder)
when you do adb shell if you get a $ prompt that means that you are with lesser user privileges, and you need to run the su command in order to get Root Privileges and continue with the rest of the commands (edit added thanks to megabiteg)
Run the following commands:
adb shell
cd /system/app
rm Phone.apk
rm Phone.odex
rm vtt-sprint.apk
exit
adb push Phone.apk /system/app/Phone.apk
adb reboot
Good Luck.
This only works for phones running 2.17.651.5
Please let me know if this helped you by clicking on thanks.
Thank you for this and the details. I am running into an issue though when I try to CD to App it tells me that it is unable. Yes I am fully rooted through HTCs method and Im running Teamwin backup. Any ideas whats up?

Is this for the Evo Shift or Evo 3d? You have the rooting process for the Shift, but the phone.apk download is for the Evo 3d. Does the phone.apk work with the Shift? Im fairly new to the android scene.
Yes it should work for the EVO 3D, Evo Shift, Evo 4g. in the downloads there are specific inst ffor each type

Need help with voicemail notification!
Hello,
I have been pouring over the forums trying to find a way to get my voicemail notifications working on my Evo 3D (rooted, flashed to Boost!)! This seems to be the method to use, but the problem I am having is this:
First of all, I am completely new to this, so alot of it is confusing to me! I am trying to follow the directions as best as I can, but it still seems difficult to me! Sorry.....complete noob here!
Secondly, when I try to run the ADB, it keeps telling me something like it's "not a valid command" or something to that effect! I'm not sure if I downloaded the Android SDK to the proper place or not (think I just created a new folder on my desktop and placed it in there?)! Is there a specific location that I should download it to?
Lastly, if you could put down the instructions in very simple, plain terms, that would be great! Maybe they already are, and I apologize if thats the case, because like I said, I am VERY new to this! It just seems like I'm missing something here, and I don't want to mess my phone up in any way, shape, or form! Thanks so much for any help that you can offer in this matter! I NEED my voicemail notifications working, so I know when I have voicemails! I already missed an important message, and I don't want to miss anymore! Thanks again!
Edit: I just noticed this message in the "tools" folder of the Android-SDK file:
"The adb tool has moved to platform-tools/
If you don't see this directory in your SDK,
launch the SDK and AVD Manager (execute the android tool)
and install "Android SDK Platform-tools"
Please also update your PATH environment variable to
include the platform-tools/ directory, so you can
execute adb from any location".
Could this be the issue that I am experiencing, and if so, how can it be corrected? Again, I am really "computerally challenged" here, so be specific! LOL! Thanks again!
Nobody? Is this issue dead now, or what? Guess I'll do without voicemail!

Thanks so much for the google search suggestion! I did it, found what I was looking for, took a deep breath, and two days later FINALLY figured out how to do this correctly! Funny thing is, I'm not even sure how I did it! LOL! Probably a good idea to not know too much, so I can't mess up too much! Thanks again SO MUCH for this tuturial....my voicemail notification works perfectly now! You guys are the best!
Shouldnt this method work root explorer or terminal emmulator, and does your rom have to be odexed or deodex? I get a lot of noobs contacting me who for the life of them can't set up adb even after reading the through the forums, i want to make this easy for them by trying alternate method but i know eventually everone should learn how to use adb
The guide is perfect. I am new at this but I accomplished it just fine. Also just a little help for other newbies. Make sure debugging is checked, and fastboot is unchecked. Also when you plug in your phone, you can have the android OS running. Also when you type adb shell, if you get a # sign you have root access and type the commands exactly as the guide states. Thanks Hacker1313!! you ROCK

Hi, I edited my post with an update thanks for trying to help. The OP did say it should work with an Evo 4g but it sure didn't work on mine! lol
As an update to my earlier post, Well, it worked for less than a day, then i couldn't receive or make calls, said my account was invalid, error code 67, and even my phone profile was completely screwed up to the point someone elses number was appearing on my phone info. took me hours to fix the problem, and the only thing I had done recently was push that phone.apk to my EVO 3D. So I am wondering if there is an updated phone.apk for the EVO 3D?? Any help would be great I loved my native voice mail working on my 3VO flashed to boost, for the short time it lasted.

did you set the permissions on the apk?
I have pushed this phone.apk to about 7 or 8 Boost 3VO's without any issue and native voicemail works everytime. How long was you Boost 3VO working before you pushed the phone.apk?
There is nothing in the steps to the guide I posted that would change the meid or esn. The only thing I can think of is that something you may have missed a step when u flashed ur phone. I dont think I can get into too many specifics on that subject without breaking forum rules
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
I used adb to push it to my 3VO, Idid not think I had to change the permissions of the phone.apk if I did it that way. It had been a good two weeks that my 3VO was flashed before i pushed the apk
