[Q] Stuck on rotate vibrant - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all.
Not much of a poster but i would like to see if i can get some help with my phone.
I've had it rooted and running Trigger for a couple months now......but recently i came into a problem. The phone will go into landscape mode on its own and sticks there.
It wont rotate back no matter what i do.
Yes i've tried toggling the auto-rotate settings but it still wont rotate back.
The only way i can get it to go back to vertical is by reflashing the rom, but it doesn't take long before it goes back. I've also tried flashing other roms but same problem.
It's really starting to get frustrating and i don't know what to do. Any thoughts?

Have you tried re-calibrating? Go to Settings>Display>Horizontal Calibration and let it do its thing. I ran into this with trigger and later, project v.

You mean anytime in landscape mode it locks that way? Like when using the camera or watching a movie? Or it only locks when using landscape on the home screens?

that sounds like a hardware problem to me but maybe if i knew more about what your doing i could say otherwise. there are sensors inside your phone that tell it when it is sideways, upside down, rightside up. not that i encourage this but...... have you tried bumping it off of a table to see if it flips back? maybe the sensors are acting up???

[Q] Screen orientation delay going back to portrait?

At&t Samsung galaxy s 2 running SHOstock, The screen orientation on my device seems to have a delay when switching to portrait but not when I switch to landscape, also when i lay the phone flat it switches to landscape view. I haven't had this problem until I tried a the ported cm9 rom, then I switched back to my original rom, unnamed and I started getting this issue, I then switched to shostock to see if this would fix the problem but it didn't, I've done factory resets, cleared cache, and used odin to switch to stock. I've used sensor testers like z-device test and sensor debug and couldn't find a solution, any suggestions to fixing this? Besides hitting the phone on my desk praying it will fix itself?

[Q] Auto rotating for a second then back to normal when screen blanks out issue

Hi i have a problem with my S3 where, say i was typing a text out or on an app. The screen goes into landscape for a split second then goes black and then back to normal. This happened on my first S3 then i went and got it replaced and it does the same again.
I haven't a clue why its doing this i have auto rotate turned off and it still does this. Has anyone else came across this issue?
Im running 3.7 Wanamlite Rom with Siyah 1.6.8 kernel.
i tried moving to checkrom v5.5 HD and the problem happens on that too. I cant see it being another faulty phone seeing as only a week ago I went and got it replaced with another brand new RED S3.
I hope this is an easy fix cause really does get on your nerves when screen does this and i know its not normal or could it be just an issue with JB? thanks in advanced.

3rd galaxy s3 and still having this issue. Its the red model. It was working ok then out of the blue the phone would act as if its opening a landscape app and then reverts back to normal. this is really annoying as sometimes wen unlocking the phone it rotates to landscape and i have to lock and re unlock to get it back to normal. This happens even with auto rotate turned off and motion disabled.
is there a way to test and see if its a certain app thats causing this? cause no way 3rd brand new galaxy s3 and having the same issue. Thanks

After screen replacement, everything is upside down!

Hello!
I recently changed a cracked display on my l7777.
When I turn on the phone everything works just fine, including all tests using *#0*#.
But if I lock the screen or it locks itself after some time, the screen is upside down, really bright, and the touch inputs are reversed, for example to pull down the top bar, you have to drag from the bottom. Also sometimes crashes the *#0*# test or it shows failed.
Im not sure what is causing this, I tried apps that force the screen to certain rotation, but they barely work and the touch inputs are still reversed.
Sadly I only have access to limited technical support (I live in Bolivia) but I was wondering if there is any way to fix this, if the phone works perfectly on start up, maybe someone knows how to remain like this, what happens when the screen is locked?
Thank tou very much in advance for any help

Sounds like the digitizer was inverted somehow when the screen was replaced.

I would say, go back to the tech that replace it for you and tell them to fix it at no charge. But if you were the one that did it, I would suggest to go to someone that know how to do it.

Thank you, is there any way I can check if this is what has happened?
I cant take it back, Im afraid they could make more damage, and there is no good tech service near me, I have searched a lot.
Is there any way I can do this myself?
I was hoping that since everythings works ok until the screen locks, there may be a software fix for me.
You can do the repair yourself. I'm sure you can find a YouTube video to walk you through it. It might be worth it to tear it down and then rebuild it so you can make sure all the connections are secure and nothing is binding. There is not a lot of space inside, and it's easy to bind the ribbon cable.
Good luck!
Hi, same thing happen to me. Could you fix it?

[Q] Home and back buttons randomly don't work when rotated

Upgraded to CM11, but had this on 10.2 as well. Back and home buttons are rendered inoperable depending on how NT is positioned (rotated). Really annoying and I know they aren't shorted because BACK works in one position but not the other, same issue with HOME. Anyone know of a fix?
Anybody?
you're talking about the onscreen buttons in android, right? i've never had any issues
that happen to me
I had that same problem when I change the dpi from 160 to 265 and that when it happen to me. It took me a day or two before I realized what causes It but when I change the dpi back to 160 my buttons started to work just as they did before.I hope this helps you with your fix.good luck
Well I don't know if it's your case, but this happened to me as well, and I found that I had dead zones in touchscreen exactly where on screen home and back buttons are, the only way I could use home and back buttons again was rotating the screen to upside down portrait (I could not pull down controls menu in this position since that part of screen was dead) or in landscape.
How I found out: download this app. from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt, turn your tablet to landscape so on screen buttons will change positions. Open the app. and select paint tester and move your finger on the part of the screen where the on screen buttons wasn't working in portrait mode.
If you have dead zones like me, the app. won't paint the area where you are moving your finger because the touchscreen is dead in that area.
Also, my nook developed another problem after this, it won't charge, and when I plug the power cord, tablet crashes and reboots and stay in a bootloop unless I remove the cable. I'm 100% sure the cable and charger are ok, my nook suddenly started to show a lot of problems, I'll miss my nook =/
so what did you do to fix it?

Nothing since this has no fixes, part of the touchscreen is simply dead, unless a miracle happens, I even tried to restore stock nook rom, opened my tablet to check if there is a loose cable or something.
Is this happened to you in the same day you opened this thread? If your answer is yes, this sounds funny, because it's exactly the day when this small part on left bottom of the touchscreen died in my nook.
Also, somewhat my tablet started to charge again, but very slow, like USB charging, but I'm happy my nook returned to life.
No this happened many weeks before the thread. All of a sudden both home and back touches no longer worked in portrait position, but DO work in Landscape. Annoying.

Did you made the check I mentioned before? Does the back and home buttons works if put your tablet in upside down position so portrait mode will move soft buttons to the top edge?
Yes - all three DO work when I flip it upside down in portrait. Is this my workaround?

Unfortunately, you have the same problem as me - dead zone in touchscreen. Flip the tablet upside down in portrait or use in landscape are the only workaround afaik. I thought in moving the on screen buttons more to the right in a zone where the touchscreen is working, but I didn't find a way to do this, I managed to move them a little bit by adding more buttons in the bar in system settings, but the back button would still stay in the dead zone, them I switched home and back buttons positions (so home stays in the dead zone) since you can still use the tablet N button to use home function.

[Q] anyone else lost landscape on home screen while docked?

the subject covers the problem, this happend after mm installed.. was a direct push from sony...
found a couple of threads about turning phone off, then docking then turning phone on. then undock. well now my lock screen goes into landscape kinda nice, but when i swipe up to unlock home screen is in portrait mode. would prefer home screen in landscape while charging. managed to find a app that forces it to work, but does not compress the home screen like the stock lolipop 5.2.1 i think it was, did.
beers
Yeah. This update (570) is as bad as the 5.0.2 build that came without X-Reality. No auto rotation, some sound enhacement features are missing and much more things that keep me from using Marshmallow for more than a full day.
Gee, I thought I was the only one having this issue. Yeah, it's so bad. Even on Facebook when I try to livestream while charging on dock, it's still in Portrait mode.
