If I install one of my backups from clockwork does this also install the kernel?
Simply put, no.

does it matter which one? Both create the same .img correct?
Thanx, looked around but could really find a direct answer.

hi, new here...
i was wondering, when i'm doing a nandroid backup using CWM recovery does its backing up my current kernel and modem as well or just my current rom?
in other words, does the .zip backup file contains only the rom or the kernel and modem as well? :O
thanks.

No. CWM only backs the rom. There is an app called SGS Kernel Flasher that is "supposed" to backup your kernel, I haven't tried that function. I don't know of a way to backup a modem.
What I do. I keep a modem and kernel zip on my SD. When you restore your backup in CWM you can install both of those before you reboot without affecting the backup.

yeah, i'm using Kernel Flasher for backing up kermels, but which app lets you back up a modem?
Haven't been able to get around a computer, does anyone have the last CWM update.zip file??

I've already installed the bootstrap recovery and it's working fine, however, I have a question about doing a nandroid backup. When I go to the backup/restore option, I only have 2 options. I believe the options are for the sdcard and the external sdcard. I'm not sure at the moment which one I chose at the time, but the backup files are as listed:
.android_secure.img, cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5, and system.img
It seems like I'm missing a file, such as boot.img or something else and I don't want to install a custom rom for bootstrap before I know for sure. Also, in the recovery mode, I didn't see an option to nandroid restore.
Can someone explain this?

I back up to the external sdcard it can be removed and has more free space.
Boot strap recovery is not the full CWR and doesn't back up all the system files. (I am pretty sure)

I know its not the full version of CWR but I was thinking I could do a nandroid backup like normal.
I don't really want to unlock the bootloader yet as I'm in a 4G area.

The CWM recovery in the bootstrap is an older version and does not back up the boot.img.

Thanks for your help guys. I may just unlock the bootloader and get a real version of CWM. I just hate to break my 4G.

Hi,
I am currently using TWRP. I have a clockworkmod folder on my device which is rather large. I want to delete this folder and am wondering if this is safe. I don't need the backup file as I have made a new nandroid with TWRP. Do I need to uninstall cmw? (If so, how) Can I safely delete this folder?

You can only have one recovery at the same time so the fact you have twrp means that it replaced cwm. If you now have a backup of your ROM in twrp and have no interest in ever going back to cwm, then you are good to go. Delete the folder if you wish. Its perfectly safe to get rid of the folder at this point
