Im currently on eb01 right now but it turns out it does not have the out to tv function and i know 2.1 did have it. So, i want to know if i download a ed01 stock rom would it let me update OTA and would i have the out to tv function. Since i cant find how to downgrade to 2.1.. all i can find is about the captivate..
There is no TV out function on the Fascinate, 2.1 or 2.2
But to answer your question, no. You will need to be stock 2.1 to get the OTA

I currently have Bionix Final R1 custom rom installed on my Vibrant and just yesterday I got the notice that Froyo is available for update from T-Mobile. Am I able to take the update with the custom rom installed or do I have to flash back to stock then update to Froyo?
Best bet is back to stock.

Thanks for the reply.
Would I also have to unroot the phone to make sure the OTA Froyo update works?
No probably not, the update was released with mini kies so it should update no matter what
Only issue I think I'm facing is that it is only letting me postpone the update. I would prefer to just get the latest Bionix V that runs on 2.2 instead of getting the stock 2.2. Thoughts?
Would I be ok doing a data wipe/factory reset on my phone then doing the OTA update or flashing a different rom?
Maybe you wanna try Bionix v1.2.1 before you go to OTA Froyo update
Skip official and go with bio v. Why would anyone want stock???

From what I can understand I can just flash the new Bionix w/o doing any wipe, I just flash on top right?

I am not too familiar with R1, back then I was using Axura. Only thing I suggest is if you have a lag fix disable 1st, then you should be able to flash right over it since Bionix wipes. I THINK you have to disable the old Voodoo version as well but either way do it to be safe.
Just wondering if this is possible, I read that someone was on 8105 build and got the OTA update. I have upgraded to 1.7.0 but having issues and wanted to go to the offical 2.2. Can I just downgrade to 8105 and get the OTA. Does that work? Or is there a STOCK 2.2 rom i can install?
There's a thread on this already somewhere with all the instructions and links to download the official rom. I wish i knew the exact topic so I can link you to it.... goodluck!

I went from DJ_Steve's 1.70 straight to Stock 2.2 with no issues. I flashed the 309 stock Dell recovery via Fastboot and used the stock 318 Dell update package. Google these terms in XDA and you'll find the downloads and more detailed instructions
When I was on StreakDroid 1.6.1, I wanted to go back and compare to stock 2.2, so this is what I did:
QDL Tool to get back to build 305. Download 318 package, click on it. Done.
PS: http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg (this worked on my USA version of the AT&T Streak, for reference)
So I did the odin way to get to Edo3 and right the next day the edo4 modem came out so I flash the quick way to get to that modem to get through patches and all was good so I wanted to give cm7 a try so I flashed jt cm7 test build 3 and decided their are way to many bugs so I tried to do a restore of my stock of Edo3 and for some reason it didn't work so now I want to odin the stock Edo3 found in the all roms and kernals thread but says its not rooted my question is how do I root once I odin Edo3 stock someone please help its my gf phone and trying to get it back to stock

Is T959UVJFD the latest stock rom for Tmobile's Vibrant?
No, JFD is the stock rom Vibrant originally shipped with. It is Android 2.1
Since then Samsung has released two updates. JI6 and KB5. KB5 is 2.2.
I suggest reading the guides before you do anything. If your phone is completely stock you can download Samsung's Kies Mini onto your computer and upgrad to stock 2.2 via kies mini.
If you want something custom, check out the dev section but deffinately read the guides and ask lots of questions.

Thank you! I'll try Kies Mini and get it to KB5. My friend wants complete stock with root.

Make sure your friend doesn't have any roms installed or voodoo or anything like that before using kies mini.
also if you want root, you should look in the dev section for "stock kb5 deodexed and rooted"
Kies mini will update you to kb5, but it is not rooted.

Ahh makes much more sense now about the kb5. And kies mini worked like a charm and I've rooted his device with superoneclick! Thanks again!

I think Ka7 and Kb1 were leaks, nothing ever official. I might be wrong, I think the only official ones were JFD, JI6 and KB5. I may be wrong though.
Can these be installed via Rom Manager?

As far i can remember, ka6 was the first "official" froyo for the vibrant, it was available through kies (thought it was ka7, but now I remember clearly it was ka6) then another update through kies was kb5? Kb1 was a leak?
So 3 updates i guess

Ka6 and kb1 were the only official froyo, ji6 was only official 2.1 update, jfd was official retail release.

Not that it really matters but KB5 was official and released direct from Samsung via Kies Mini. It did not come OTA via T-mobile but it is the latest official non-leaked ROM direct from Samsung.
My girlfriend has a fascinate running 2.1 update1. She wants to update to froyo or gingerbread. So after figuring out rom manager does not appear in the market I looked up how to push update to froyo with Odin. Seems simple but while trying to download the rom+ root+clockwork mod all the links are bad. Some fbi jpg pops up saying the Site is facing some Charges. (Megaupload) where can I get the files? Or is there another easy way to install clockworkmod and roms?

Check out droidsyle's guide in the general forum. He put a lot of hard work into it and keeps the links updated so be sure to thank him.
