How come on android it just continues with music and youtube at same time? Is there a setting im missing? Its irritating, because i have to go back and click pause

Actually, I just tried two tests:
Play music with Sony Ericsson 'Mediascape' app.
While the music is playing, press the Home button.
Launch the 'YouTube' app.
Verify music continues to play while the 'YouTube' app is in its menu screens.
Select a video to play.
Verify music stops playing.
...and...
Play music with the Google 'Music' app.
While the music is playing, press the Home button.
Launch the 'YouTube' app.
Verify music continues to play while the 'YouTube' app is in its menu screens.
Select a video to play.
Verify music stops playing.
In both these situations, 'Mediascape' and 'Music' both automatically close as soon as a video begins playing on the 'YouTube' app.
I'm not sure why that doesn't happen with your phone, though.
I'm running on Sony Ericsson generic world Android 2.1.

oh oops i forgot to say that im running the free x10 beta4 rom 2.2.1
I'm on J's CM7 Gingerbread 20c ROM and have the issue. Going through both threads (since I used to be on beta 4) I haven't found much. It becomes a habit with time though. I did however find using the pause on the lockscreen less of a bother than having to go into the app itself.

My music will not play continuously. After each song It stops and goes back to the start of the song and waits there. Any else have this problem?

Do you have the gallery set to auto close?
im not having this problem, but i am having a simaler one. I started noticing to today, i was listening to a song and around 30 seconds it started playing another song. then i restarted it and it just stopped at the middle. happened to other songs as well. it gets really annoying. it has done it on 3 music players, including the default.
You need to make sure that the music player, gallery and purchased music are NOT on the auto-end list in the Task Manager.

haha, i didnt think of that. i feel retarded
I loaded several songs on my tablet and can play them easily through ES File Explorer or whatever file explorer there is. After I start playing the songs, there has to be a way to keep it playing while I use the tablet for other functions, right? No matter what I try, the app just closes and the music stops. I just basically want to play some tunes locally and browse the web. Simple. Please tell me Android can do this.
Just use the Google music app. It plays local files.
More importantly than the file explorer you're opening the files in, what application is playing the songs?
The default Google Music player multitasks just fine with Chrome and ICS Browser--as well as pretty much any other app that doesn't want to play audio/video.
Not sure what you're doing that's giving you trouble, but you should be able to browse and rawk out just fine.

When I load up es file explorer to find the music files I want to play. Then I'll select a song. It will prompt which audio player to use. I'll select Google one. Starts playing. Then soon as I close file explorer the song stops playing. Can someone try those exact steps?
Just open the music player and let that find the files.
When you exit the music player press the home button, not back and it will keep playing.

That does not work either. This seems to be a small limitation of the device. Apparently the only way to keep music playing is you HAVE to load up the Google music player FIRST, select what you want to play and then you can hit the HOME button and it will keep playing. So basically you can only use the built-in Google music player app to keep music playing AND you have to open up the music player FIRST. I also have another small issue with this. When loading up the Google music player it displays all my music I have in the "cloud" and not what I have on my SD card. Or it is so mixed up, I can't even tell anymore since the player seems very limited right now. Too bad, because I'm pretty into music and Android doesn't seem to have all the stellar features it should have.
Why are you even bothering with the File Explorer?
Just open Google Music and it will find any songs on your device's storage.

This is NOT a limitation of the device. I replicated what you did and the reason why music dies out when opened via ES File Explorer is that it is using the native Google Music app to play audio WITHIN the ES File Explorer interface. ES File Explorer is programmed to stop the audio upon exit--this has nothing to do with Android or the Prime.
If you're dying to use a file explorer to open your music files rather than a much more conveniently designed music app, use the file explorer that comes with the tablet (File Manager). It opens selected music files and will continue playing even after exiting the manager.
Your confusion in the Music app can also be easily solved by selecting "Offline Music Only" in the settings menu. This will hide all music that is not currently stored on the device.
This is funny thread, problems multitasking? Really? Anyways try out poweramp music player for playing local media, blows away the stock Google one!
If you want to use es file explorer to play music, use the included es music player; it'll play music files in the background just fine.
I just signed up with Google All-Access music and I'm having a couple of problems listening to music on my Atrix: At the end of each song, the player doesnt move to the next song in the queue. Instead the player continues to count elapsed time on song #1 and then starts to play snippets of the first song: play a half second of music, skip to another part of the song, play a half second of music, skip, etc. (For example, I'm now at the 8 minute mark of a 4:21 song! )
I can click on the "next song" button and it moves on, but that's hardly satisfactory. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no change. Completely stock Atrix, with the stock music and Mixzing apps also installed. They work fine for music that is stored on my device.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I updated to 4.2.2/Sense 5 this morning. Everything works great with the exception of the music app. It lets me browse all of my music, but won't play any of it! I press play, and nothing happens, the progress bar stays at 0:00 even though the play icon turns into a pause icon. My music plays fine in the Play Music app and in the ES media player, so I know it's not the music. Anyone else have this issue?
Worked after a reboot!

Hi all,
I have an Android Headunit which is currently using the default music app. I'm looking for another one that has more functions.
When the unit starts up it will generally run the last running app which would normally be the music app. with the music app it will auto start playing again.
I'm basically looking for a decent music app that will auto start when opened. As well one that has album cover and has the random music function option.
I've played around with Tasker to play the music when the app runs but this won't work when the head unit auto starts the app.
Thanks
i think many music apps can do that, when you open the app the music starts, all you need is to set in the setting.
i search for you online, there's 10 best music apps, but i don't know whether i can put the link in the forum. try this:
www dot techsupportalert dot com/content/best-free-music-player-and-organizer-android dot htm
if not, please tell me i will delete it immediately!!
the players i've tried don't seem to have that setting. The last one was Poweramp which seems to only auto start if headphones are plugged in.
