[Q] Alarm that can ring when phone's off - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been looking for this app but till now i havent found it yet.
I had Samsung monte and Black and white screen phone. Their alarm goes on when the time that i've set when its off.. Its like a common feature in old phones.
But, when i turned my dell off and ive set the alarm. the alarm doesnt ring because i turned my phone off. Is there any alternative for this problem ?

Haven't seen one yet but not turning the phone off is one alternative. Do you have to turn it off?

From what I know, Android phone don't support this feature.
It's not a bug, it's not a hardware issue - it's just how it is designed.
Yep, I loved this feature in Nokias, even on Samsung Wave, but to be honest it's not a problem. Just turn your phone into flight mode, and it will basically consume very little power in standby.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Smart Stay

Does Smart Stay drain the batter?
bump
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Shouldn't be any different to leaving the screen on when using it. When the screen is on its using battery, smart stay would just work much the same way only you don't go need to unlock the screen every 1 minute.

Menu / settings / display / smart stay (check box)
Activates just before your screen timeout. An eye icon will appear on the status bar for approx 1 sec and either display off or remain on for another timeout.

Ya except now you are engaging the ffc consistently
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
From what I've seen it only fires up the ffc just before the screen was due to sleep, to check you're still looking, so better than constantly tracking your eyes.

Exactly as in my previous post.
Based on that, (probably) any additional battery used is negligible.

Turns off while charging

Hi all,
I've searched for an answer and couldn't find one.
My Galaxy turns itself off while charging and most of the time, I have to take the battery out to turn it on again.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
First, caused by AC charger or USB PC or both ?
Your firmware version and rooted, mods etc ?
Have you tried a factory reset ?
Different chargers and cables etc ?
Sent from my GT-I9300T using xda premium
Only by AC charger I think. I've only got the one which came in the box.
It's a standard phone, not rooted or anything.
I haven't tried a factory reset, will try that tomorrow if it does it again tonight

op says his turns off WHILE charging, so yours and his isn't doing the same thing.
Actually, mine is doing that too!
This morning, it turned itself off while charging, then when I turned it back on it froze, and then when I rebooted, it turned off again with the blue light flashing.
I'm also finding that the screen when waking up is very temperamental to unlock.
I'm getting fed up now!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Hardware failure maybe? (I think the main reason is the AC adaptor was broken or something).
Have you try with another USB AC adapter?

I think it might be something to do with wireless being on. Sounds stupid, but when I have wireless on, I get the screen freeze and the turn off while charging.
Going to try the rest of the evening with no wireless and see what happens
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Well, I tried the wireless off and charged and it was fine. No screen freeze or turn off during charging.
As soon as I turned it on this morning, screen froze when it went into sleep.
Luckily I I have unlimited data!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
Have you bothered to Factory Reset ?
Sounds like WiFi drivers though.
Flash another kernel would must likely fix it.
Sent from my GT-I9300T using xda premium
Did anyone get to the bottom of this? I just received my replacement phone and sure enough, phone switches itself off when wifi enabled.
Then I saw the *#0011# trick to turn off wifi power save mode.
Hi,
No, I haven't got this sorted yet. Still does it with me and now my wifi and data keeps dropping out!
Going to send it back to 3 and let them fix it. My friend as one and his is fine

The thing i mentioned above your post works but not sure if that's the answer.
Hi again,
Well I rooting and putting a new ROM on and, though it didn't switch off while charging, it does still freeze when coming out of sleep.
So I'm getting there!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Try to check the temp when charging, I read somewhere that if the phone overheats it will shutdown automatically. About the freezing issue, try to do a factory reset first, maybe some apps that you installed are causing that.
If still the same, maybe its a hardware issue.
Hi again,
Sorry to keep going on about this, but the problem has been solved!
Basically, the new firmware update has sorted the problem. No turning off while charging, no freezing when coming out of sleep - its perfect!

'Android System' draining battery fast!

Today I got almost 2 hours of on screen time before I hit 3% after 9 hours. So I look in battery in settings and Android System is #1 at 57%! Then screen at 20%' followed by cell standby at 9%.
What is causing android system to take up 57% and cause barely 2 hour on screen time?
I had this issue too! after a reboot i havent had this issue agin
check what google services you have auto syncing. aka g+ calender and contacts those can make it really bad.
sounds like a rogue app of some sort.

An app that misbehaves: Sync's data or runs in the background when you are not using it, wakes device during sleep (wakelock) and performs background operations. This could be any app or game you download, usually it is more common in free apps with unknown developers....make sure to check reviews before downloading.
It seems like the restart fixed it. After restart android system is 4th place at only 6%.
Its doing it again today. 67% of battery is android system.
Any help?
I have better battery stats but it's some what hard to understand.

Mobile data has been killing the battery on my AT&T Galaxy S3. I can always tell because it gets warm even with the screen off. The only way I can stop the drain is to turn off mobile data which is not a long-term fix. I can't understand why some days I get amazing battery life, and some days I get a few hours only.
Use juice defender, I've used it for years, it turns off mobile data when the screen is off and re enables it on a schedule you set. It's the only long term fix I have found. Since calls and texts come through 2g this should fix your problem.

just out of curiosity, are any of you with battery problem using a live wallpaper, or most importantly a weather live wallpaper?

Screen won't shut off?

So I'm starting to notice that my screen will not shut off unless I shut it off with the power button...I have it set to shut off after 30secs...but after that time the screen only dims down and doesn't shut off to the lock screen...I have nothing set up like no auto brightness or anything...seems like a reboot will fix it for awhile but then it does it again...even on charger it'll just dim down and not shut off...am I missing something here? :/

My only guess is maybe if you're using a different launcher it could mess up the screen timeout.
I'm using the LG 4.0 launcher from their website...the phone will be fine after a reboot for awhile and then it will do it again...I've already factory reset it...is there a way to check wakelocks without root? Bc even when the screen is off I notice my battery drops like I don't think it should so I'm wondering if it's a rogue app causing issues tho I have the same apps on here that I had on my g3 without problems...

Although it sounds like this is probably happening when you aren't charging as well, I use the "Stay awake" located in "Developers options" to keep my screen on while plugged in (this does not affect time out when not plugged in). It dims but does not turn off with this setting. It may be worth checking if this option is ticked for you.
As others have said, there is a possibility of the launcher interfering, or perhaps whatever app you are currently running.
Restarting is not a sane solution, so I'd suggest if all else fails, perhaps seeing if this would be covered under warranty.

I'm using the same LG 4.0 with the app draw, I don't have the problem, have you tried the hard reset using the hardware key, not through the menu.

I am facing the same problem like yours, did u get any solution for it?
I also had the same issue. What I did was I went to the battery settings ang manually stop each app listed in the battery usage. And as what I've observed, the app causing it is Spotify. I don't know why spotify does this though.
Has this ever been solved?
