I am running Bamf 2.0 Android version 2.3.4, HTC sense version 2.1,with Imoseyon kernel version test 7.
I can not get my windows computer to see the phone. There appears to be a driver issue. I have tried everything I could find on this issue and nothing has worked. Please help!
Alan
Yeah I have been having the same issue installs everything when plugged in except MTP driver for the device which will not allow you to properly mount the phone to access sd card. Have been looking for hours and have not been able to find anything either.
Some people have proposed a solution in the BAMF thread of selecting the Internet passthrough when plugging in, letting it install drivers, then try to mount.

Still nothing still says I am missing MTP driver
I think its an issue with the kernel.

Where do we get kernals?
Try updating to the 2.0.4_1 release. It fixed the issue for me with not being able to connect to PC, then connect as internet passthrough let it sit for a good 3 min then switch to disk drive

Kernel Manager is one option. But there are various threads in Development that have kernels for flashing. Just download one of them and flash it.

Just to make sure you all know.. there are only a couple working GB kernals so dont go grabbing anyone and flash it.

Did this and I was able to connect as internet passthrough .... but when I tried to mount the sd card it still didn't work.
I really like to mount the sd card to change out the music on my phone, not a deal breaker but bummed I can't figure this out.
Alan
press intertnet passthrough and then immediately switch to mount disk drive

vibrant, unrooted (trying to root using the method in sticky with update.zip). I follow the instructions to enable mass storage device, then plug into usb/laptop. i see that it recognizes 2 new drives, but both cannot be accessed (insert a disc in removable drive K).
does anyone know how to fix this?
Try this...
From the home screen hit the menu>settings>applications>usb settings...
Make sure you have the "mass storage" or "ask on connection" radio button checked.
also make sure you have usb debugging turned on
......AND, it never hurts to just reinstall your Samsung USB drivers...what youre experiencing happens to me every once in a while, and i just reinstall the drivers and everything is good
i have the usb drivers installed on my comp-same issue.
i could not have debugging and mass storage on at teh same time. it always asked me to turn the other off when i wanted to do the other.
of course this was all on stock.

i realize you have the drivers.....but just reinstall them. just run the .exe and it will say something like "these drivers are already installed. would you like to proceed?" then just say yes
its fixed this exact issue with me several times...just try it out, it cant hurt
Thanks!
Thanks guys, I tried those already. I'm thinking it's the drivers which I just tried to load but my computer cannot locate them. Any links or suggestions?

I don't mean to sound like an idiot but I'm really feeling like one right now. When I follow your link to the drivers I end up having to install Driver Genius or Driver Boost and of course they tell me I've got multiple driver issues and want me to register and pay. Where am I going wrong? Thanks for your help.

HAHA i know there are a lot of confusing links. its setup like that on purpose for advertising, its supposed to screw you up
see where it says "click here to download drivers"? click on the button directly below that
then on the next page, under where it says "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" click on "Softpedia Secure Download (US) [EXE]" ---> thats your download link
for some reason the cards are locked for me. i did find a way to open them but it really is a hassle: after the mass storage click, plugging it into laptop, i open voice dialer and say "open sd card" and click ok. then i click "enable mass usb storage device" on the top of the next screen and then my computer gains access to it.
WEIRD! but works. if anyone knows how to fix without using voice dialer, please let me know.
you have to enable USB debugging before you plug in your USB cord.
lol are you running custom kernel like test 14 ? due to bug? i dunno , u wont find anty storage .

yes, i tried that. still same thing "Please insert disk"...
i guess its certain hardware then!
works after switching to bionix rom though, it gives me a little button to press "connect usb storage" after clicking enable mass usb storage. now i dont have to do voice dialer.

On this one i think i installed all them the issue here is that when i plug my phone it let me know that new hardware has been found then it starts with the installation some will install but i think there is one or two the just sit searching but nothing happens and then i try to closed out but it freezes up on me and when i turn off debugging then it closes out but if i try to install them with debugging off nothing comes up.
another thing i used my phone with acomputer runnig windows 7 and it worked so im guessing its a prblem with xp
I think pdanet has the drivers when you install it if you don't know how to manually add them.

I don't know if this will work for you, but it worked for me...
When you plug your phone in via a usb cable, you will see a Verizon Mobile drive pop up on under "My Computer"
If you open it, there is a folder in there called DRV. There is a file called something like WM_driver installer. I installed that.
Then I go to my phone chose to connect as a disk drive (I have mine set to charge only by default).
Then I click on my removable disk and I can see my phone's data then.

The sdcard is the built-in 16gb storage.
In the guide you will see external sdcard too, that's the optional card
which is a removable one.
so just to clarify i don't need a SDcard to root if im following the guide that's stickied?

Looks like you are not using the Samsung Unified USB driver.
Try this one, this is what I use.
Here is the Samsung Unified USB driver: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13196871580881
Be sure to uninstall kies if it's installed and uninstall any other samsung usb driver,
then reboot windows before installing the unified samsung drivers.
Good Luck!

Hi, I have made a Multiboot USB-stick witch contains Win 7 install, Ubuntu Live, Hiren's and many other distros. But is it possible to some how move the files from the external SD-card on my android phone and make the computers boot directly from the phone?
Can you in that case force the phone to use the right usb-mode so that the computer recognizes it as a ordinary bootable USB-stick?
I saw some old post from 2009 where some user managed to get a computer too boot BCD from the phone. But the catch was that he had to click the "mount usb" on the phone directly after the PC started booting. And many computers may have passed the booting point before the USB-mode had finished mounting.
I tried booting Damn Small Linux from my Supersonic earlier with no luck. Android requires certain drivers to mount and the BIOS typically has the bare minimum to boot from USB, DVD, and HDD.

Ah I'm sorry. Needed to sleep some more.. it sounds like that would be difficult to do though. You would need the phone to be mounted as USB before the computer even started booting. That's way beyond me though, good luck.

It seems feasible. Never tried it..
But, i would start by looking for an app called unetbootin. Its a free app that allows you to build a bootable flash drive. I've used is several times with actual flash drives. As long as your device is setup to allow the pc to mount it as a disk, in theory it should work.
As far as android accessing the disk after its been formatted, i have no idea.
I boot in with dual sd and yumi. But I think my boot file configuration is wrong or what..cus I'm trying to boot spotmau 2011. Which is unlisted iso. Anyone can provide a small bootable file so I can try boot it..

Questions should be asked in Q&A forums, not Development forums.

It had it ask me what to do with the USB connection when I plugged it in, which I don't mind. I choose File Transfer. My Mac isn't recognizing it as a hard drive, like it did. Gonna have to figure this one out... Any ideas? (I never use HTC Sync...)
Update: I did the online chat with HTC and tried almost everything from clearing the Cache partition to reinstalling Sync Manager for the drivers. Still not working. Funny enough it is working on my Windows 10 laptop....

Are you using the android file transfer app on your mac?
My experience is that it will only mount the extsd as a drive...internal sd needs that app, who knows why

You got lucky that it worked as a drive before, but according to google this is the standard way to transfer via mac:
https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
"To transfer files, Android File Transfer must be installed on your computer"

I used the program, and yes it worked. I really don't think I was "lucky " before. Its worked from the second I got my Mac a year ago. Even HTC and Apple thinks it should recognize it. I think it might be a bug with this version of M. I'm betting they fix it.

Honestly, I'm not even sure if I have a twrp installed. I can see both on my Windows 10 machine... I can see it on the Mac using Android File Transfer. I could plug directly into the Mac before the M update and could see both as HD's...and of course drag and drop files.
I assumed you were rooted. If you aren't, you wouldn't have twrp.
But I believe if you put the phone in download mode, you should be able to sideload files.
