GingerBlur "freezes" many of the motoblur applications, and essentially streamlines motoblur, making the phone faster whilst also adding a cool theme.
So the fact that the dock looks like default android it is not it just themes motoblur so its not so ugly?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
seems to me more of what CaelanT said, I myself don't have all the bloatware from motoblur on mine (running gingerblur 3.5) I simply installed gingerblur without the bloatware file. I would have to say that I went from gingerblur 3.1 and flashed it back to stock for a little while just "in case" and ended up reflashing to the updated gingerblur 3.5 because stock killed my battery faster. With gingerblur I get probably more than double my battery life in my case (reads off in a mumbled tone in legal gibberish "individual results may vary")
I also neglected to mention the amazing optimization of the phone with GingerBlur.

So I've been looking all over the web for about three days now and can't seem to find any that will work with the eris, but what I'm looking for us a theme with a clear or almost clear notification bar. Or is there an easy what to change one around to work for the eris?

why not just hide the notification bar or use adw launcher and make it hide but also have the up swipe to hide/show notifications....or try searching the themes for the eris here
I don't want it hidden, I've seen some themes for the nexus where it is clear but still has the icons and everything on it and I think it looks pretty cho l but can't find one that will work. And yes I've looked threw the themes and apps section. I wouldn't be wasting orioles time if I could easily google and find it.

lol yeah i just did a nandroid and applied and all it did was undo my adw settings lol
It didn't do anything to my phone... It looks like if I go to kaosfroyo I MIGHT be able to get one because most of them are for CM6 phones and roms. But I really don't wanna leave white widow. And I really don't want to have to repartition my SD card.

What I'm really looking for is a "transparent status bar" still haven't found anything googling that though.
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
If you have a froyo rom you can change the transparency of the notification bar from the cyanogen settings and tweaks.
Yeah that's what im starting to realize. Guess I'm just screwed your awhile.

Actually the colors yes NOT the transparency which is the alpha setting

Really you can't? Which cm6 did you check on?
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
I'm using CELB which is using 6.0 i think it says in the settings that the alpha (transparency) setting will NOT be applied
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
Hmm. Well I guess that answered my question about what froyo rom to try. And there the rom you tried the transparent status bar on yesterday?
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
I'm going to flash the CELB 2.1 and try again for you its irritating me now lol cuz it would be cool
Sent from my ERIS using XDA App
I flashed every cm6 rom and they all say it won't be applied. Yeah it does look like it would be pretty cool.

Since we can't get the MIUI Rom because the bootloader is locked. How hard would it be to make a theme for it?

+1
10 char sucks
You could use adw and there is a miui theme on the market that looks very well done. Also many miui Widgets etc on market. My sexy nexy screen look the same as the pics on the market when I used miui.
From there just mess with settings to ur taste like hide dock bar etc. Then painstakingly arrange all apps on the screen, just like miui the first time ^_^, and backup settings and screen arrangements in adw settings

I meant a theme with a new color notifications bar and a total skin... kind of like GreyBlur or GingerBlur.

Gotcha. U need someone with more time and better skills ^_^ for the time being I'd go with grey blur find a good theme for notification bar color etc that tickles ur fancy and do above. Hope it helps. G'luck

oooh thanks. So it deletes everything on my internal SD? So I just need to backup my photos and apps to my external SD?
I'd backup JIC but it didn't for me. Turn off fingerprint unlock till ur set up to avoid issues later ...heard it helps. I'm on greyblur and use adw paid version. It was definitely worth it, and I'm a cheap skate ^_^ coming from nexus and all it's great dev love, I wanted all the options it gives. Screen transitions etc.
Didn't touch my webtop that I customized either ^_°

I have updated to 1.8.3 and rooted my Atrix. I would like to regain the" reboot" option as opposed to having to power off and power back on. I would like to do this without themeing my phone. How can I add this function?

Gingerblur 3.1 includes this option. I can't think of a reason not to load that on an Atrix. You can also add bloatware to re-motoblur it. I plan to tweak the zip to include the music.apk from greyblur as am not happy with the newer music client included in gingerblur. Not sure if that is what you wanted but it's the right solution in NY opinion.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I used a previous version of Gingerblur and it was not what I wanted. This being my first expirience with Android I don't mind Motoblur. Other" ROMs" also change too much about the phone. So, I have tried other peoples creativity I would just like to be able to tweak what is already on the phone.
I'm not opposed to being pointed in the direction to be able to do it myself.....

Adding Gingerblur just for one option to reboot seems like a long way to go just to add one functionality.

Very true. Just casting my vote based on the bigger picture for a better phone in general, in my opinion.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
Try extended controls. It allows you to set up custom Widgets for wifi, airplane mode, GPS, etc. One of the options is reboot. You have to be rooted and the first time you select it there will be a 30 secondish delay while it asks for superuser access, but after that it is instant.

Is there anyone attempting to port sense 2.1 out there? Not trying to be a rush but we got so few roms and a few just outright suck.

How do they suck? We have Stock sense froyo, cm6, cm7. And all of these are very stable roms

I like Gene Poole's Lib Aria 2.2.2.
Can you tell me how different is Sense 2.1 from Sense 2.0?

Ditto, I fail to see how they suck. We have a wide variety of roms that are all really nice. Sense 2.1 would just be filling a very specific niche.
Well for one, HTC messages app does not organize messages right. Two, they're all really bland and devoid of any elegance we novices cannot add. Three, we have such a low number.

OK, so you dislike the HTC message app. We have 2 different versions of CyanogenMod for the Aria; CM 6.1 is an ASOP Froyo ROM and CM 7.0 is an ASOP Gingerbread ROM Neither one of these has a trace of HTC Sense in them.
The beauty of Android is that the Market Place is full of apps and themes that even novices can use to customize the phone to your hearts content. I suggest you get more familiar with exactly what can be done to customize your phone and quit relying on someone else to customize a ROM for you.
Well actually I like sense, but the messages app kills the joy of it. I had cm7 and I enjoyed it. My only problem is it is so bland. Even with customization. If there was a messages app fix, I'd be happy enough.

Have you tried gosms? It's all I use and I change the look at least weekly.if you can't customize IT to your liking then nothing will ever satisfy you.

It does not fix the sms problem. I always used it on cm7 but it doesn't fix my sense issue.

Try handcent, it fixed my sms issues. The messaging app was the only thing I had a problem with on sense roms.
So, I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but I was wondering if there is something I can flash that will just change my lock screen cause I'm tired of the lock screen where I just have two options....slide right to unlock and slide left for sound. I'm running Eclipse v1. 3. Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't know about flashing to change lockscreen...
but you can try widgetlocker, go locker, QQlauncher, or something similar from market to change up your lockscreen ...there are a few apps available that allow for customized lockscreen ...even allowing u to add widgets or custom sliders to the lockscreen ...
good luck
Liberty X3 you can choose the rotation slider.
On Molten you can choose rotary too.
Ash is right though, those would be the best options.

Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
yeah I understand that...
I was also trying to find a way to just replace an apk or something easy like flashing something to get different lockscreen so I don't have an app constantly running to change it...
hopefully someone who knows how to make flashable locksxreens will see this and give us a few choices
ICS theme has a nice lockscreen!
I'm thinking about trying out Liberty 3
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Lockscreens are difficult to add. There aren't any options for an actual lockscreen replacement (besides using Molten or Liberty which allow for Rotary). Lockscreen changes require much smali editing that doesn't seem worth it.
I just hope we can get CM7 soon...
If you want. Go to UOT Kitchen and upload your systeemUI and framework-res apks and make your own lock screen with the options there" then it will cook you a flashable zip. Its pretty neat!

Just seems like many people gave you options and you are very hard to please. I personally like the lockscreen for the ICS theme. You should check those out in theme section. Then if all else fails start by Google uop kitchen and learn to make your own.
Ive been very happy with WidgetLocker. Im trying out MagicLocker right now though just to change it up. If you are worried about battery life, just stay with the default lock screen. Any locker app will probably have an effect on your battery. Sorry.
the lockscreen is a pretty big deal to me.
I settled on widgetlocker.
Its not as good as CHT & winmo, but its the best I found so far.
Go Locker is one of my favs. After switching to this from Widget Locker, I've noticed a little better battery life. I would try it out for a while.
