[Q] 2 Questions about radios.... - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With the new gingerbread radio and Roms, I need some radio help please.
1. Does a clockwork backup back up that radio also?
2. How do I install the new gb radio? I tried to install it via clockwork by selecting zip, and telling it to install and I get an installation failed error.
Thanks for any help guys, this is my first Android and root, so I'm still learning

1. no CWM does not back up the radio which leads to question 2
2. you dont use CWM to flash radios. You need to name your radio PG05IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card then boot into the bootloader ( i think it is either volume up or volume down + the power button) and flash there.

ahhh, ok, I see that now!
Last question: If I install the newest gingerbread radio, will I be able to install an older one without a hitch?

Yes, same process. Just grab one of the Froyo radios if you want to go back to a non-GB ROM.

[Q] Rollback from stock 318 froyo+performance fix applied to original stock froyo 318

Hi,
I've applied the stock froyo performance fix successfully. My question is how to uninstall it? Is there any kind of way to do that without ROM re-installing? And if not what is the procedure? tnx in advance.

By that you mean to get the official build rename it to update.pkg go to recovery mode (ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1) and flash it over the modified build, will this work? Or i need to use the stock recovery? and are there any additional steps needed?
I reflashed stock recovery and flashed 318 again
Why r u coming back to stock?

Because of 3d performance issues... I mean the game Dungeon defenders runs with 10fps.. I have multiple replays that dudes with stock froyo doesn't have this problem and i want to test it.... Avatar and BIA2 run slow too.... other games so far are ok.

Yeah you need to reflash the stock 318 through cwm that what I did,i dont like the performance it caused a lot of bug.
I am Closing this Thread as the Question should have been asked in the Froyo Performance Fix Thread.

New firmware that enables global.

This is what worked for me. I just updated the firmware/radios for the time being because to actually be able to use it as global the rom base will have to be updated. So flash that PH98IMG, then go into recovery and flash scotts 10x wipe, then restore your nandroid. Should work.

where's the link?? does it have both firmware and radios in one file?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830859
If you want to use global then you have to use that rom or wait for others to get the new base in the rom. If you flash the new firmware/radios it also flashes a new kernel thats not compatible. heres what you do, reboot into hboot flash the new firmware/radio, then go into recovery wipe EVERYTHING! system, boot the whole nine yards. then resotre nandroid and you will have the new hboot, firmware and radios. no global functions til rom bases are updated
anyone having issues can hit me up on gtalk @ [email protected]
If you just want the radio/firmware/etc, open up the zip with 7zip and remove the boot.img from the firmware zip before you put it on your phone to flash.
Again, s-off only

What's my next step?

Hey guys I rooted this phone almost a year ago and installed a custom rom. I remember the procedure being very different from other phones I have done and very complicated. At the moment I am still "S-on" and running Android Revolution HD 1.1.0 (android 2.3.4)
My goal is to install the newest version of Android Revolution ( looking for a very stable rom, so I'm open to suggestions)
The thread mentions extra steps if you are coming from a non-ics rom.
Also Im considering the Energy rom. (this one does not specify any extra complicated steps)
In the current state that I'm in should I run the all in one s-off tool? do I even need that for these roms? what recovery should I flash? (Im currently on a CW based recovery)
Thanks in advance for all the help.
you should first flash back to stock.... then update to ICS... after that you should once again unlock your bootloader and flash 4ext recovery this time.. but you id really suggest updating to ICS before trying to flash any ICS roms..., specially since your still "S-ON"

To my understanding, flashing back to stock requires the stock recovery and a stock image.
I found the stock image here http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Amaze_4G/ROMs#Stock_ROMs
but can somebody help me find a stock recovery?

Yeah, just unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. I recommend TWRP since it's more touch orientated (designed better) than ClockworkMod. Then download a ROM and follow instructions.
For those that have flashed Int. ROMs and have TWRP, did you use dumlock or flash the boot.img in fastboot? If anyone has used dumlock, can you write up how you used to get a good flash? I am coming from Sammy, so all of this is very new to me and I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thanks.

So you just flashed in recovery like normal? Nothing else?
This phone is super confusing, keep reading about flashing a boot.img before flashing a ROM or using dumlock. Can not find a straight answer to what I need to do to go from rooted stock to a ROM.

As usual HTC left off some security on the released version of this phone's HBOOT.
The One X on AT&T was like this too when it first came out. We could even flash RADIOS on that thing.
I am pretty sure the discovery that you can flash boot.img from recovery is pretty new.

[ ROM ] Stock Rooted 4.4.4 XNPH30O [ Aug 11 build / Deodex zip attached ]

Here's a stock rooted 4.4.4/XNPH30O ROM(8/11(2nd OTA) build). Includes root and the rest is untouched, so it's OTA safe. For those that want a deodexed system, just flash the zip below and yes, the ROM will still be ART compatible.
Also if you haven't already, flash the updated radio files, etc that was included in the XNPH30O OTA below
Stock Rooted 4.4.4/XNPH30O ROM (v1.1)
md5 - f4c6c21df09089c2a9f29472c455642d
XNPH30O Radio files, etc

Much appreciated as always.
Safe to flash over existing stock, rooted, non-deodexed ROM after wiping caches?

Yes and wiping caches is not necessary as the zip does that already

Hello,
I have installed a custom ROM (gummy). So if I want to install this one what I have to install?
Only the ROM with Full Wipe? Or the radio...too?
And what's the .zip of 177 KB?
Thank you!

If you want to flash the rom, make a backup and do a full wipe [everything except internal storage. You can flash the radio / extras zip if you want them.
Isn't the 30O radio the same? I compared it, the radio I got was
MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c7-00020-M8974AAAAANPZM-1
which is the same as 25R
Is the extras zip just the radio or does it include other extras

Great question. I side loaded 300 and my baseband is the Same as zephik
Curious about the Extras as well. Includes the Radio and what else?
By the way, i love you. Thanks.
there was also an incremental update that came out. Just curious as to will you be putting this one together as well
Right after flashing this another ota immediately came. Were there two updates today?
This was the only version that didn't end in a bootloop for me and the incremental update after went just fine. I just had to reroot but no biggy. . Being odex or deodex didn't matter to me. Thank you so much!
Jesus Christ, thank you so much for this! It was getting extremely frustrating to wait for an infinite boot screen to finish.

Can't update the 2nd OTA as I flashed the first OTA using modified script. So now I'll have to wait for someone to modify the 2nd OTA

...so? Flash TWRP from Fastboot, and then flash SuperSu from TWRP.
Problem solved.
