New firmware that enables global. - HTC Rezound

This is what worked for me. I just updated the firmware/radios for the time being because to actually be able to use it as global the rom base will have to be updated. So flash that PH98IMG, then go into recovery and flash scotts 10x wipe, then restore your nandroid. Should work.

where's the link?? does it have both firmware and radios in one file?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830859
If you want to use global then you have to use that rom or wait for others to get the new base in the rom. If you flash the new firmware/radios it also flashes a new kernel thats not compatible. heres what you do, reboot into hboot flash the new firmware/radio, then go into recovery wipe EVERYTHING! system, boot the whole nine yards. then resotre nandroid and you will have the new hboot, firmware and radios. no global functions til rom bases are updated

anyone having issues can hit me up on gtalk @ [email protected]

If you just want the radio/firmware/etc, open up the zip with 7zip and remove the boot.img from the firmware zip before you put it on your phone to flash.
Again, s-off only

[Q] 2 Questions about radios....

With the new gingerbread radio and Roms, I need some radio help please.
1. Does a clockwork backup back up that radio also?
2. How do I install the new gb radio? I tried to install it via clockwork by selecting zip, and telling it to install and I get an installation failed error.
Thanks for any help guys, this is my first Android and root, so I'm still learning

1. no CWM does not back up the radio which leads to question 2
2. you dont use CWM to flash radios. You need to name your radio PG05IMG.zip and put it on the root of your SD card then boot into the bootloader ( i think it is either volume up or volume down + the power button) and flash there.
ahhh, ok, I see that now!
Last question: If I install the newest gingerbread radio, will I be able to install an older one without a hitch?

Yes, same process. Just grab one of the Froyo radios if you want to go back to a non-GB ROM.

Updating from custom 2.08.651.2

Hi, I'm running SenselessROM 2.9.5 based on 2.08.651.2. Yeah I know I'm 2 stock updates behind which is why I have a few questions before I update to a new ROM.
I have HBOOT 1.5 and unlocked using HTC's method. I was wondering if updating to a new ROM was as easy as flashing the .zip in recovery and the kernel img using Image Flash GUI.
Would it be better to flash a stock 2.17.651.5 ROM and then root/unlock/flash?
I think you also need to update your firmware and radio with a zip file from Freeza called his all in one (you can search for it in the dev forum)
I don't know much about 1.5 as I have 1.4 and we would put the file on the root of the sd card and then boot to bootloader and let it update. This would bring you up to date and then you could flash whatever you wanted.
Good Luck
I have some Hboot 1.50 notes in my signature that may help you.
If u flash the new update to get the radio, you have to use roms/kernels based off the update, you can't use ones from prior radio baseband, and you have to relock the bootloader first & flash the full oem Ruu.
Right now you can use 651.2 & 651.3 based roms/kernels but not 651.5 ones.

Ah okay, just to confirm so I don't waste my time... The only way to use 2.17.651.5 based ROMs and Kernels is to flash the latest RUU and then unlock using HTC's method?
Edit: Yup, found this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21363331&postcount=49
Thanks guys
But currently u can't downgrade the radio or use any roms/kernels from previous bases.
CleanRom Reborn 1.1 is very good.

Rooted with zedomax how to ota?

I am stock, locked, s-on, and rooted with zedomax one click so i could use wifi teather and titanium backup. How can I apply the ota and still keep root? If that's not possible what do you recommend?
Are u using a custom Rom? If you are then wait for one of the Rom developers to incorporate the latest ota.

Noob here don't know how. I thought I couldn't flash any Roms with zedomax one click root method and locked s on. Detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Can someone be straight up with me and tell me why no one has answered my question?
no one will give you a straight answer because what you want to do is kinda not recommended on any device.
general rule of thumb is not to ota after root. so what you should do is get s-off using lazypanda which allows for flashing of custom roms and such and follow my guide that is in my signature to make sure that it goes smoothly (but ignore the part of flashing fresh rom, you can do it on stock with just root) then once you achieve s-off you can either stay stock and wait for a rooted version of the newest update for you to flash through twrp or you can flash any other rom (i run flex 360's rom, i find it the smoothest rom ive tried) and then just flash the radios from the newest update which will give you all of the 3g improvements (which is basically all you need, you can flash roms based off of the newest update at a later time)
if you need any further help feel free to pm me at any time and i will help you out
edit: also, after re-reading your original post, there is no way to keep root after ota so if you accept it you will have to wait for another root exploit which may take a while.
Can you give us new guys a step by step instructions for installing the new ota update> I have stock rom phone rooted with TWRP. Do we need to do a factory reset and clear the Cache, Dalvic Cache and System or can we just install the Odexed zip?
He can't flash a Rom guys, he can't get a custom recovery.
Op, get s-off first and the. Get your recovery and flash a romt

How can I get the new OTA radios and kernel while using CM10

I am S-On HBoot 1.15.
I had to flash a new boot.img for CM10 Nightlies to work. I understand that I will have to flash a Sense based Rom boot.img to leave CM10.
I want the new radios and kernel from the OTA. What do I do?
I saw pocketables had a way to do it, but I'm not sure this would work for me. Would I just need to flash a Sense boot.img first, go through their method, then flash the CM10 boot.img again and restore my CM10 back up?
Will the new OTA radios and kernel work with CM10 Nightlies?
Help, I am lost...
You may be able to use the Flash Image UI app in Google Play, with the 1.15 hboot. Try that, but play it safe and read up on the best practices to flash new kernels, etc. as you're playing with fire. You can get bricked.

Fastboot is the most reliable method. As always verify the MD5 to avoid problems

HBOOT 1.15 and up do not allow for S-OFF, and HTCDev unlocking still does not allow the flash of new radios and the like. Because of this, taking the new OTA or running a RUU are the only way to update to the newest radio.

That is probably the easiest way to do it. Flash (using fastboot) a sense kernel (boot.img), flash back to sense ROM, take OTA, then flash CM10 kernel and restore CM10 backup.

Radio: Yes. Kernel: No. You want to flash the CM10 kernel back before restoring your CM10 backup. I am running CM10 nightlies with the newest radio and PRI. I flashed them separately since I am S-OFF, and they work fine.

Everyone gets lost at some point. Don't worry about it
I think the only way for s on people to get the new radio is to take the ota.. I recommend NOT doing this. This gives you the new hboot which will make it even less likely that you get s off. You can get the new kernel by fastbooting the boot.img of a Rom based on the new kernel and than flash the Rom in twrp. This is the smartest route in my opinion

No, this is encrypted rom zip. You can flash it via fastboot (fastboot oem rebootRUU, fastboot flash zip name_of_zip.zip), or wait for developer to put it into a custom ROM for you. I suggest you wait for custom ROMs to be posted based on this released. Otherwise you might as well just run the RUU executable file which can be downloaded direct from HTC.

Cool, thanks for the clarification.
Be nice if someone can bake Sense 5.5 in the ROM. I had to go back to stock yesterday cause I HAVE TO HAVE wifi calling at my new house. Sucks, but oh well.

NICE! Thanks. Wonder how he got it working and nobody else can. I know people have been bugging Mike for ages to see if he could get it in HD, but everyone says it doesn't work.
So what would be the difference between flashing this and the RUU? RUU updates Hboot, and this does not?

This is for the devs to make a Custom Rom and if you flash this via fastboot you get the same result as an RUU.
