How to overclock processor using stock rom ?? [ SOLVED] - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi all,can someone teach me how to overclock my phone processor
which is default processor speed in 600mhz to higher clock speed ??
because i found i play some game will lag, example angry birds
*i don't want to use custom rom, because last time fail to flash it and send to service centre due to can't turn on phone
so,i hope all of you can teach me step-by-step guide to overclock my processor speed with using stock rom v10f
Regards

if you dont want to try a custom rom i dont know about overclocking the stock rom but i think this will work, it will for sure work for the lag fix for angrybirds, you can flash milks kernel it should work for both problems although i would suggest flashing a new ROM if you want to see significant performance enhancement

Take nandroid before flashing..
I suggest u flash cavermans v3 kernel. Or franco kernel.
Install setcpu and u can overclock..

but i dunno how to flash kernel
some1 can teach ?

To overclock on stock:
Root your phone using z4root or gingerbreak.
Use Setcpu to overclock.
There are guides on rooting around this forum somewhere, have a search.

1. root your phone
2. install a custom recovery (the easiest way is to install ROM Manager from Market and select "flash cwm recovery"
3. download a custom kernel (I'm using franco's) and copy it on your sdcard
4. boot into custom recovery: turn off your phone and then press vol down + home + power and release at lg logo
5. make a nand backup
6. wipe dalvik cache (in cwm recovery it's in advanced menu)
7. select install zip from sdcard, select your kernel from the sdcard and flash it.
8. start your phone and install setcpu; use max 729mhz
That's it

Latest franco kernel (13.5) seems to have a bug breaking SetCPU on reboots (settings reset to 600Mhz). Sticking with 13.3 for now.

Downloaded from the link provided on the thread here on XDA.
Also, 13.5 has some WiFi problems (huge lag on reboot before it connects to WiFi). At least on my latest stock ROM.

But you do require custom recovery to flash the kernel from. It depends on the rom and the kernel. Certain kernels cannot be flashed with few roms.
Have you installed the custom recovery first? and if not then that key combination would reset your phone.
hey... if i root my phone with "gingerbreak"....... will it not let me to enter the recovery mode on pressing the 3 button at startup.....????
and bit confused between custom recovery and custon rom.....????

Gingerbreak only roots your phone. You need to install custom recovery which allows you to flash custom kernels and roms.
HOME + VOL DOWN + POWER key combination would reset your phone if you don't have custom recovery installed. Rooting just gives you superuser access.
Guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007244
Custom recovery is a must, for installing kernels and roms xd
all seem ok... but here is the order i did it in!
1.root using gingerbreak
2.Instal custom recovery with ROM manager, cmw recovery installed
3.Put the kernel in sd card, flash from recovery!
Job done! happy Flashing!
Steps which I followed.
1. Install "Gingerbreak" and root your phone.
2. Switch to Android Keyboard.
3. Back up all the data using Titanium backup.
4. Paste the kernel zip on SD card.
5. Install "Terminal Emulator."
6. Download amon_ra_recovery_installer.zip
7. Extract the contents of the above zip file to the root of your SD card.
8. Open "Terminal Emulator." and type "su" command and the superuser will ask you for permission, grant it and you can notice that the "$" sign will change into "#".
9. Type
Code:
sh /sdcard/rf.sh
and press Enter. The phone will reboot into custom recovery.
10. Create a NAND backup.
11. Flash the kernel zip.
12. Reboot.
Happy Flashing

That's an easy way to do it But dont forget to make a NAND backup after installing your chosen recovery! [very important]. This will be the key to restoring your phone in case anything goes wrong when flashing your chosen kernel (or ROM).

1] Install ROM Manager from market which would be of great ease.
2] It will prompt to select your phone model and type.
3] Make sure you install Modclock recovery as well.
4] Once you have selected the phone model and installed the recovery.
5] Make sure you dont let your phone go in sleep mode as Superuser will prompt to allow modclock for SU permission. Allow it to install the recovery
6] Download the franco's kernel the most stable and reliable from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
[Say thanks to him]
7] Once your download is completed try open the zip file it will prompt you to open with ROM manager.
8] Then follow the instructions, make sure you wipe dalvik cache before doing so.

All your steps are fine, except that you've given the link for Franco's v19.4 kernel. But the OP is using Official 2.3.3. So it should be a .35 kernel. Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148196

Once you've installed the recovery, Press Vol down, Power and Home button together to go into the recovery. Inside the recovery you'll find options to wipe data, dalvik cache, etc. When you're installing a new kernel, it is enough to wipe dalvik cache, battery stats and cache. No need to wipe data. If you wipe data, it will factory reset your phone. Try out and you'll find that it's very simple.
franco.Kernel.v1-16082011 is the stable version and is damn good. The testing version has some bugs (reported by other users, I did not try that) but still it is great. Try whatever you want.
Make sure you install Modclock recovery as well.??
i installed rom manager free version to my optimus and also downloaded franco.Kernel.v1-16082011 to my Pc.
Now what ??
Put zip file from PC to phone, install recovery from Ron manager , reboot into recovery , wipe dalvik cache , select zip from sd card and select the zip file xD

Before you do any installation of kernel/ROM, make sure first you have:
- a custom recovery: can be ClockWorkMod, AmonRa-Thunderg or TWRP. to check if you have one, turn off your phone, then simultaneously press Home+Volume Down+Power. if you have a custom recovery, your phone will boot into it.
- created a nandbackup using the custom recovery. in case something goes wrong while flashing new ROM/kernel, or you just don't like the new one, you can return to a previous stable condition of the phone just by restoring that.
Thanks
After hell lot of research finally i manager to install recovery using Rom manager (Which in fact was very simple) but now when i boot into recovery i get E:bad recovery ?? What is that ??
Should i take a back up of my original Rom ? which i have right now ??
And next just download kernel put it in Sd and open it Via Rom manager and kernel installed right ??
and then i can use Set Cpu to Overclock ??
1)ignore e:bad boot message , its just a message
2) put kernel zip in sd card reebot into recovery using volume down+ powerbutton+home button or using clorwork and under options select install zip from sd card then chooze zip from sd card and reebot, before flashing wipe dalvik cache just to be safe its not compulsory. hope this helps
3) just for knowledge overclocking is different for every model of phone. Some can get to 806 or 860 even and some get crashes even at 729mhz. My phone is stable at 768mhz.
4) if ur using cyanogenmod based rom then it has overclocking menu in setting-cyanogenmod7-performance-cpu. so no need to install setcpu.

Which kernel for CM7 ?

Hi there
I have tried to install CM7 yesterday and my SGS2 doesn t start. i have done the 3 wipes under CWM. So my question is which Kernel, firmaware... do i need to work properly with CM7 ?
I use XXKI3 and kernel blackheart 666 with cwm 4.2, darky rom.
Thx
I think you should use codeworks (not sure on spelling) CWM.. I think it has it's own kernel and you can root using SOC..

Download and flash this kernel
Download the newest nightly from here and put it into your internal sd card
Boot into CWM recovery
Wipe cache/data/dalvik cache
Flash the CM7 zip
If you get stuck at a bootloop reboot into CWM recovery and flash the CM7 twice.
Thx but how i boot in recovery mode with CWM.

+1 on that. It's so sad to see when people are just one step away from bricking phone. It takes only ~30 mins to read and understand the very basics.

if i was you id take JJE advice and do reading before you go ahead and flash. also to be able to get CM7 you need to be able to use ROMmanager Premium to download the nightlies as far as i use it.....
but anyway if you have CWM go into your apps click on CWM then scroll to reboot phone into clockwordmode recovery and press that and then your into recovery..
but seriously if i was you id watch videos on youtube on how to do it and read the guide that JJe has gave you

I really tried but I cant flash a ROM for my ACE "i"

Hello everbody,
I tried many times but it doesnt work!
Here's the steps Im doing:
- Flash my phone with ODIN, everything works.
- I check in the apps if Im superuser: i am
- I enter the recovery mode and enter the CWM
- I do all the wipe
- I install the rom from SD
- install successfull
-I push back and reboot the system
now the problem comes out.
The cell its like freezing on the "Samsung Galaxy Ace GT..." screen, I tried to wait up untill 1 hour, but nothing happen.
note: if I try to shut it down with the power button, it turns on again, but freezes everytime on the same screen
note2: if I try the button.combo to get in the Recovery mode, it doesnt function
What I do next?
I enter the "Download mode" and re-flash the phone with ODIN
Flash stock first. When wiping dont wipe system. Some roms dont like wiping system.

Link to the rom, you are trying to flash?
If you are on stock rom you'll be on stock recovery (RED one!)
You have to install ClockWorkMod Recovery from stock recovery and flash desired rom from there...

I already tried other 3 ..
It's Super IceDroid ROM by Lopicl
I don't know whether v3.1 has any problem, I tried it's 2.2 version and it's working perfectly.
Try some other roms in development thread... and report if found working....

Try to change kernel. Use stock one in ace i sure and flash. If it doesnt work after flashing the rom you want, try rafaels or hell locks kernel.
Even than nothing works flash stock. Use iamareebjamals boot extractor script. Flash custom rom as usual. Use the extracted boot image to recover stock boot. And if this works root your phone. It shoul be ok than.
Good Luck...
