Messages are being sent late or I receive them late. - Optimus One, P500, V General

I have a problem with my LG P500. Sometimes,a message I sent is received by the other person after about half an hour or i get the message half an hour late or not at all. This is surely from my phone because I used another phone.and I didn't had any problems. Any ideas how to solve this problem?
I even changed the Rom but still the same problem

Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I have Android 2,2

okay, assume this isn't your network provider's problem, it will be the problem of your phone's software
"oh everyone knows it, but what software?"
1) Simple SMS app problem. If you use Handcent or GOSMS or whatever, and restored a lot of messages back to your phone, the SMS speed may be affected (but never seen one delayed more than 3 minutes)
Try deleting all the messages on your phone and retry.
2) The interpretation speed between your ROM and your phone. It maybe you did not wipe your phone completely when you flash the new ROM. try wipe again.
3) The firmware of your ROM doesnt meet your local service. Use KDZ updater to restore your phone back to the LOCAL FIRMWARE VERSION. (different locations have different firmwares supported!)
and only update officially from LG / flash to the roms which CLEARLY SHOW YOU THEIR FIRMWARE MATCH YOUR LOCAL'S.
hope these help and looking forward to see your results

I've consistently had problems getting messages to send after flashing a new rom...can't personally pinpoint the problem, as for me it presents itself in different ways and at different times depending on the rom.
However, I have found that the attached messaging apk always resolves my problems, so my solution is to push this to system/app after I flash a new rom. See if it works for you.
It's just the messaging apk from (I think) one of the earlier Nero roms, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I had just backed it up b/c of messaging issues TW was having at the time, and I find myself constantly using it.
Hope this helps!
It didnt work...ugh..does anyone else have a way to fix this?
Bummer man.
Just to clarify what "didn't work" means, you didnt try to install this, did you? You need to replace the existing mms.apk in your system files with the one I attached.
I just want to make sure you didn't try to install it like a 3rd party app...it doesn't work that way.

No i did it the right way, pushed it thought root explorer and changed the permission and everything, the mms app look different also. But anyways i got it to work in a werid way.
My network mode was at GSM/WCDMA(auto mode), so i just switched it back to GSM and everything was fine?
That's interesting - I just checked mine and am on auto mode. No problems here.
Nevertheless...glad you got it working again!

No Data..?(3G,2G,Any G)

So.. I might be the only one experiencing this but i haven't had any data since i flashed asop newest rom... re-flashed, called vm, bought the new $199 phone, called again and they told me to wait 48 hrs..? Has anybody else experienced this dreadful b/s?
Thanks!
Did u have data before you flashed? Was your phone activated? What recovery are you using? If I recall correctly, in the ROM thread there are a few suggestions to getting it working again; such as going into emergency programming mode or something like that, as well as re-flashing the stock ROM, activating, then flashing.
Have you setup the APNs after flashing?
I use a tool called "APN backup and restore".
If the APN is already installed and not working, try switching to airplane mode and back.
If it is not installed, you will need to set it up either through you service provider or manually. (I don't know what your carrier is).

Lol well most everyone on here with the Optimus V will be on Virgin Mobile.
I had a problem like this - tried everything - reloaded old nand ... etc. A person on another board suggested installing a data switch app and turning it back on. I thought this was crazy but I did it (desperate) and it worked.
Sorry did not know that you have Optimus V. Any way most service providers have some way to send you the settings files. Some through a service request page online or an SMS no. To request the settings from.
I have seen a link on customer support of samsung the gives you manual settings for all networks around the world, I just can not find it now.

I did have data before i flashed.. called VM again and they sent me a 3G reset but that did nothing.. I'm using thnderc recovery and asop lastest rom, I will try a few things that where pointed out to me and update on my progress.. thanks for the feedback!
I'm having the same problem with my Optimus V, and looking on the interwebs it seems to be a known problem, that possibly affects all of Virgin mobile smart phones. I just end up going into settings and turning off/on the data connection. This always fixes it, until the next day or so when it happens again. Pretty frustrating. The LG forums even admit it's an issue and posted on this thread: LG forums about data issue but no actual fix as of yet.
And I'm actually still running stock on it, so it's not a custom ROM issue.

[Q] Are you intermittently missing calls without notification and sms don't arrive?

Anyone else have this problem? I don't get calls from certain people. Sometimes I don't get sms that they send. My gf can't get a hold of me by calling and sometimes our sms don't arrive at the other end. We're both on verizon, she has a feature phone. I'm using a gingerbread rom now, but this problem happened with someone else on a different rom I was using months ago. That time too the other person was on verizon with a feature phone. I'm going to wipe and install Ivan's eris official to troubleshoot, the next step is to try and get verizon involved.
Sounds like the issues I had when my apn was "lost". Search for the "apn fix", it's in a ton of threads since most cm roms have had the issue.
Wrong forum BTW

could be that your phone is stuck in low memory state, try deleting all the apps you don't use, and boot into recovery and wiping dalvic cashe, reboot, might want to look into cashe2cashe

This happened between me and my wife, My daughter had placed me in my wifes blacklist, you might want to check just in case.
thanks for all the replies!
ianoob- i will try this, thanks for the info! i found .mak's apn fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684856
rigbyrobot- hmm... i keep my installs pretty lean, putting as many apps on the sd as possible.
Sparticusx- i considered that, but it does not explain the intermittent missing sms.
update: flashed ivan's eris official, gf's call went right through. next i flashed Ginn Tazz followed by gapps and .mak's apn fix and all seems well. thanks again!

Receiving duplicate SMS messages?

Hi all,
I'm using a GSM Razr XT910 with the CyanogenMod 9 customised ROM by J.Y. Daddy (RAZR-CM9-12.05.17-UNOFFICIAL-GSM-J.Y.Daddy) and I keep receiving duplicate SMS messages. I've changed to "Original timestamp" in SMS settings to see what's going on, and it seems I'm getting the same message up to 9 times.
It happens with multiple contacts, and I'm not sure how to fix it. I'm in the UK on O2 - does anyone have any ideas for how to fix, or has anyone else experienced a similar issue?
I had this issue too.
I live in Australia and have been using J.Y.Daddy's CM9 builds pretty much since he started porting them over to GSM. I tried to narrow the issue down to a few factors and the main causes I suspected were:
1) Different kernel version to your phone's "natural" one. Have you used RSDLite to flash any different fastboot files? Or are you on rooted stock initially?
2) Handcent. I began using this app after making the switch from GOSMS a while back and shortly before the duplicate message problem began. They have actually confirmed that there is some compatibility issues with some Motorola handsets, and this is reflected by Handcent's changelog. Are you by any chance using Handcent?
3) Finally, the last cause I come up with was a network issue which is refusing to send an 'acknowledgement' packet to the provider, essentially meaning the message is never marked as received and therefore, it keeps sending the message in an attempt to correct this.
In my experience, the problem was #3. I was on Optus for a long time (The 'second place' Australian telco), and recently made the switch to Telstra (#1 telco) and the issue has been resolved. If you are on stock kernel and do not use Handcent, then unfortunately I think it may be a network issue.
Don't take my word on this though, I'm not an expert. Just speaking from experience.
Thanks Mr. Ektid, I think in my case it's probably #1. I installed a different 2.3.6 rom over RSD in order to get the Bluetooth working without causing a bootloop, so I guess that must have messed things up. I don't use or have installed any SMS apps other than stock, and I don't think it's a network issue as texts were working fine before installing ICS.
I've rolled back to Arctic for now, seems to have sorted things again. I suppose the way to fix the issue in CM9 would be to RSD a stock UK 2.3.6 rom and then flash CM9 over that - but I'm not sure if that would mean I would still get Bluetooth bootloops, as it seems like a fairly specific 2.3.6 rom is needed for that to work.
Ah well. Back to Gingerbread for a while.

Any progress with that "loosing connection to google services" problem?

Ever since I got my first Android device (Galaxy Nexus) I had the problem that Gmail and Google Talk just often won't notify me about new messages. It works fine sometimes but often there is a delay between a few seconds and several hours until it finally notifies me (if at all that is).
It's basically freaking useless. I just can't rely on it so I end up checking for messages and mail manually every few minutes.
Things that don't affect the problem:
Device and Android Version. Plenty of people reported this problem and it's just not limited to one device or version.
If the screen is turned off or not. It even stops working while Talk is open (not in the background).
How the phone connects to the internet. At home it's using the same connection as my PC, while it just won't notify me of an new e-mail the Talk client on the PC manages it without problems.
ROM/Kernel don't seem matter either. Also did plenty of factory resets.
All I can find are old and/or unanswered threads.
Like those:

I'd have ditched Android by now if there would be a good alternative. But it's either Android, iOS or Windows Phone...

my advice. backup what you need(ie. text messages) and just clear data, revert to stock image

I don't really get how this could help. Don't feel like doing yet another reset unless it could really have an effect.

ROM and Kernel don't seem to matter. That includes for example stock, Cyanogen and franco kernel.
Did a factory reset like 100 times before, just this time logged out first. Didn't help, how unexpected.
Another option, contact sprint, have them do a. Profile refresh. Also update ur prl twice. Now that I think about, it could be a slight network issue in connection with ur device (hard to explain)
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
I'm in Europe. No sprint here.
I'll replace my Nexus with an S III today. Guess I'm about to find out if it's affected too.
Will probably be hard to do any further tests with the Nexus because my SIM is going to have a little meeting with a scissor.
Didn't get too many messages yet but some of them were definitely several minutes late. Guess the S III is affected too. Just great.
Am I the only person with this problem?
Still happening and renders the phone mostly useless.
At least some ideas on how to pinpoint the problem?
