In order to install some fixed to the text alignment on an Android phone, recovery mode with USB connection is required.
Something like open recovery will probably work. Does anyone know if such a thing exists for the Atrix?
Dont really understand question but if your asking usb connection to computer in recovery, then boot into recovery with ac then switch over cable once in there. Once again could of misunderstood

I just updated to JI6 and whenever I connect my USB to my phone nothing pops on the phone like it used to, to enable USB. Anyone know how to fix this?
I had the same problem. I just put it in usb debugging mode, connected it to the computer and hit mount. Then it should show up on the computer.

Me too, but for me the other method didnt work, I had to set usb mode to choose every time I connect. It works that way.

Thanks putting it in Debug mode worked.
Mount Not Working.
I have my vibrant connected to my laptop and it won't allow me to mount the drives to my laptop. My baseband is t959uvjI2. Before I flashed the a customed rom it was working great. Now when my vibrant is connected to my laptop I get an error that my laptop does not recognize my mobile device or a usb port has malfunctioned. I have the samsung install on my laptop. I tried to methods mentioned in the above post but they don't seem to work. I tried flashing a custom rom through Clockwork but thats not working. After attempting to flash to a new rom I get an error something like " VibrantHybrid4.zip" can't be found" Need some help..
i have a htc legend with Blayo's 0.8 rom.
for a couple of weeks all works perfect but suddenly one day when i connected the htc to pc with USB cable nothing happened, only started to charge the battery. in the past the phone used to show a menu for choosing what type of connection had to use, but now didn't show anything.
i tried to reinstall HTCSync and the SDK but nothing changes.
i also tried with different usb cables but nothing
it's my legend bricked??
try to change the default connection type in Settings - Connect to PC..
i tried too but nothing changes
Try file expert or alternative, they have samba built in so you can ftp to your phone

yeah i'm Software Data Cable to send and recive files from Legend but if i want to change the rom i can't do it because pc doesn't detect the legend in fastboot and can't enter to recovery

why use cable? It´s so stoneage use wifi, and swiFTP app on your mobile and filezilla ftp on your pc to transfer your files. Then cmw to flash a new rom, you don´t have to be plugged in with your pc for that
Software Data Cable is like swiFTP, i can access my sdcard with filezilla.
the problem is that when i try to access to recovery to flash a new rom a triangle with a red exclamation appears and i have to push recovery from pc. i think that i don't have the recovery installed in my legend or something like that. with Rom Manager doesn't work, the same thing :S

When you get the triangle, have you tried push the volume button up and powerbutton.. ? What does rom manager say, you have installed cmw recovery?
mmmm i will try it! thnx!
EDIT: when i push volume up and powerbutton says: E:Can't oen /cache/recovery/command at the bottom of the screen. in the top a recovery like menu appears with Reboot system, apply sdcard:update.zip, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition :S
NOOB ANSWER TIME:
Dunno if this is correct, but hey, we all learn, eh?
Make sure you have the correct version of CWM as an update.zip in the root of your SD. Then when you press VOL UP + PWR, choose to apply sdcard:update.zip. You'll launch into recovery from there.
oh! thank you! i didn't know that! i can enter into recovery! i want another rom, any recommendation? ( CM7 no please ) i think installing a new rom could fix the problem with the usb!
awww, man. did you try searching first before posting your problem? your phone isn't bricked. what you have is what's called around here as 'usb brick'. now, go here and get bzzzzz...
mm i think i don't have usb brick, because when USB Brick occurs pc can detect the htc in fastboot but i can't so i can't do the steps to fix the problem :S
any idea?
it's possible that the usb connector is broken?
Maybe there are someting wrong with your hardware....You may need to find the Costomer Service....

This is about booting a USB connected PC from the 'external SD' on the S2 which I use as an USB stick.
A weird question, but I have my Galaxy always with me. My previous phone a Nokia 5800 I could use as a boot USB stick to boot a PC. With the S2 this trick does not work as when I connect it to the PC and set it into USB mass storage mode (the Android figure turns from green orange) it resets to green when the computer actually reboots. USB debugging is turned ON.
Is there a trick to keep the S2 in mass storage mode while connected to a rebooting PC ?
I would like to know if this is possible too. Have you had any progress on this?
Thanks.
BUMP +1
This would be very coll to c if anybody had ideas on it i would to have a changing boottable hardrive on my phone please help us out with this great galaxy s2 gods
If you have root and CWM recovery, you could "mount" the drive/partition whilst in recovery and connected to PC.

Just a thought (and I'm not sure if this would even work or not), but would an OTG USB cable possibly achieve this given the OTG allows you to connect the SGS2 as a "slave" to a laptop/PC as per this guy's post ? I saw this post/thread in the Accessories section & remembered this thread from earlier today.
So i was attempting to originally run a firmware through odin and had auto reboot checked when i shouldnt have.
I now have a tablet that boots up with a back light screen and functions as a normal tablet, but i now have a blank recovery
and i cannot use download mode anymore. ive tried drivers, different computer, the works. No recognition in download mode.
i do not have root and am running 4.0.4
please help :X
Hmmm.
Auto reboot shouldn't have damaged anything in particular. Its exactly as it says - whether you want the tablet to reboot after you've finished flashing a rom.
Just a few questions so that we can help you easier,
-What do you mean by a blank recovery?
-Does the tablet charge via AC? That'll determine whether it is a cable problem or whether it is something else.

Yes the tablet charges by cable. If I choose recovery option I get a back lit black screen, download mode completely unrecognizable. Currently only boots into standard android.

If u mean that u can go into download mode but can't get a PC to see the device.... I would uninstall the drivers and Odin..reboot PC and reinstall drivers and Odin. Then try. If that doesn't work try a different version of Odin and/or drivers.
I have a Q and A thread with the necessary Odin files and cwm recovery to root the p7510...there is also a link to a qbking77 video.
Good luck...
My problem is I've tried different PCs drivers and Odin files and my tablet still only says waiting for cable in download mode

well then we're down to the old battery drain trick....its been awhile since ive had to tell somebody how to do this....so give me until tomorrow night and ill see if i can find some good links to guides for you...
in the mean time you can google battery drain, bootloader, download mode and just about every other word combination you can think of for this method.....
..... which is to drain the battery to absolute zero...take it out...put it back in...plug the device in...and before the charging screen comes on you need to boot into the bootloader...
i know...sounds crazy, but ive seen it work time and time again...now those werent the exact steps...but i thougbt you would .eed atleast some sort of over view if you are going to go google hunting with me..lol
Same problem
I've the same problem. I'm trying to install Android in a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the download mode has "waiting for usb cable". Odin doesn't recognize it, adb doesn't either. The tablet doesn't have an OS. Tried several usb cables, computers. It doesn't have an sd card slot to install from there.
I'm really at lost here , please help
I replaced the USB module for my smartphone but the port is still not working. What may be the suspects to this problem besides the USB module?
Right now I cant even flash to stock because in download mode, the pc cant detect the phone due to this problem.
Perhaps a bad replacement? who replaced the module, a proffessional?.
Usually, USB problems rely on the drivers (bad installation) or in the USB module.
Try to check if the module is working properly.
If you hv custom recovery, you dont need dl mode to flash stock
to get files on your phone you could try using adb via wlan

i replaced it myself personally, i guess im not professional ><
I could not enter recovery, all it does is it tries to go recovery with the android mascot but then reverts back to the normal boot logo
