What is the difference between HTC Mozart T8697, T8698 and T8699 - 7 Mozart General

Just wonder if any one has details of the differences between different variants of HTC Mozart i.e. T8697, T8698 and T8699
Any one has idea what variant Orange UK HTC Mozart is ?

there must be some difference

Not sure what the differences are, but I can tell you that my Mozart is T8698 and is with O2 Ireland.
Ireland usually just gets their handset stock from UK, so T8698 is possibly the variant used in the UK, but I could be wrong, just wanted to share the info of what I see with mine.

i found something today...
i looked at my box and the specs on the back, there u can find model id!
my mozart was original tmo_de, in settings only Model ID: Mozart
unbranding with HTC Europe Rom made it Model ID: T8698
but! on my box there is MODEL ID: T8699
it my be a region thing....

Between the three models, I believe these are the only differences:
T8697 supports 3G 850/2100Mhz
T8698 supports 3G 900/2100Mhz
T8699 supports 3G 900/2100Mhz, but a 16GB variant instead of 8GB.
I might be slightly off, but I should be fairly spot on. I know this, because I need the T8697 for 3G 850Mhz for the carrier I'm with (Telstra here in Australia)

makes sense

that's what i heard too. sounds logical for those stingy bastards.
and for mozart owners, you can upgrade the micro SD (what they call internal storage) yourself. 4 screws and about 8 clips and its right there. just make sure you get the card class right etc.
mines a 32 gb t8698. lets call it a mozart t9000.

HTC S740 and HTC S743 Is there a Difference?

I was wondering if there is any difference in HTC S740 and HTC S743? or is it one of those marketing scheme. S740 for Europe and S743 for USA?
When I go to www.gsmarena.com and type HTC S743, it shows the specifications for HTC S740.
Can someone please let me know? Thank you and I appreciate your time.
I think that the s743 does not have radio, but I'm not so sure about that.
Yes, FM radio is one. MAJOR difference is in support of different 3G networks frequencies - models with american band (900/2100 MHz) are usually introduced few months later after European versions working on 850/1900 MHz.
Using other words - European version will work in US but without broadband support and vice-versa.
Rose
The Bands are backwards
850/1900 are USA
900/2100 are Europe
Oops... ;-) You're right.
how aboun an s743 in europe?is it going to work?

Is the Baseband hackable for the HTC Hero?

Hello,
I just received my HTC Hero today which I bought from Clove in the UK (I live in Australia). Unfortunately for me I did not notice that the phone does not support UMTS 850mhz (which is Telstra's NextG). I live in an area which I get very little or no service on the other bands and UMTS 850mhz is the only one suitable for me. I saw 850mhz frequency listed on the phone specifications and I had no idea that there was a difference between 2 850mhz frequency .
My question is, will the Hero be hackable to enable 850mhz UMTS? I've seen it happen before with the HTC Touch Diamond, so perhaps the Hero is hackable too?
Or will I have to sell this phone and wait for mainstream release in Australia with the UMTS 850mhz enabled?
Thanks.
I think this maybe will be posible in a future but not rigth now.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I am having this issue where I work. Next G works in Perth where I live but not at work. Seems Telstra use two different bands for Next G...

Difference between Gratia, Aria, Liberty, Intruder

So far what I've been able to figure out:
Liberty = code name for device; it applies to all of them.
Aria = AT&T's USA phone.
Gratia = the international version (which uses different 3G bands from the Aria) and is free of AT&T branding on the top.
Intruder = ??
The reason I'm asking: behind the battery on my "Aria", it says "Intruder". I'm just wondering if this means there's a difference in my phone from others.
Thoughts? What does yours say behind the battery?
Intruder was the codename used for the device during development. This was changed to Liberty at some point, but for whatever reason, they never changed the device name underneath the battery.
3G band support is determined by the model number - A6366 for 850/1900MHz 3G bands, and A6380 for 900/2100MHz 3G bands. There's also another version that was sold only in Japan, but I don't know the model number for that.
The A6366 was sold in North America and some parts of South America and was called Aria. The A6380 was sold in the rest of the world and was called Gratia in some countries and Aria in other countries. I think it's only called Gratia in Europe. So, you can't tell the 3G bands the phone supports just by what name it has on it.
thank you
Thank you <3 (no homo)

[Q] Network Speed 3G or 3G+?

[UPDATE 1]
Please regard 3G+ as H. I apologise for the stuff up.
The first option "Other than 3G/3G+" should also include H and that is basically G or E that I'm after there.
I am very aware that the Lumias should be at least 3G (unless your stuck with a bad carrier).
The purpose for this thread is to identify whether a particular ROM or the phone Model (ie. RM-801, RM-819)
make a difference regarding the network speed.
I am also identifying whether there is a difference between an RM-801 sold in Australia, Taiwan and HK as
I have purchased my handsets overseas.
Please supply the model (ie. RM-801, RM-819) as well as your ROM Region if known when posting.
I am asking because I've been trying to work out the difference in the Models.
My personal Experience:
Purchased 3 Nokia 800s
2 from HK and 1 from TW
None connect to 3G+/H (EVER) My Omnia 7 does.
What I've attempted so far:
Phone 1: Running Optus specific ROM for RM-801
Result: No 3G+/H
Phone 2: Running Australian ROM (not branded to carrier) for RM-819 I think.
Result: No 3G+/H
Phone 3: Unmodified.
[UPDATE 2]
I have a H showing on Phone 2 using a RM-819 ROM. Since I'm not 100% sure what exact ROM I have used, i will investigate this "fix" using the third Nokia. Basically for some reason after using the Nokia Network Connection app, flicking from Optus to Virgin Mobile, restarting phone and flicking back to optus finally gave me the H symbol and verified the speed via ozspeedtest.com and mobilespeedtest.com.
I have attempted the same process on Phone 1 with RM-801 ROM and it actually caused the opposite! I shouldn't have touched it as connected via 3G but gave me awesome speeds (2.2Mbps). After performing the Nokia Network connection process as described above, it definitely slowed everything down! Down to 90kbps!
Lumia handsets do not show a 3G+. They will show a H when you are using HSDPA. Do your handsets only ever show 3G and never a H? You need to make sure the handsets you have support the 900 band to work with Optus in Australia. There is a bug where Telstra handsets do not show a H right now but dispite that they are using Telstra's NextG network still but all Optus handsets in Australia should show a H without any issues.
Here in Germany my unbranded device gets 3G as well as H.
G, 3G and H in Spain.
Thats what I said.... but there is no 3G+ simbol.
Thanks guys.

Yes, my handsets only ever show 3G, never the H. I have seen E but that is when connection is just poor. My Omnia 7 shows 3G+ and the Lumias never do.
These three phones were overseas models RM-801 (which is the same model that Optus supplies here) I have restored them to the OPTUS ROM using NaviFirm+ and Nokia Suite but still receive no H.
I get only E or H, no 3G symbol. Did you try restoring them to a rom made for a different region?
Sent from my Lumia 710 using Board Express
Thats strange, I have a Telstra handset and while it only shows 3G I still get NextG coverage (easy to tell when I can still make calls from my work office but no one else on Optus or Voda can) and my work friend has an Optus one and it switches between 3G and H. I checked it again today when doing nothing it showed a 3G and when I went to a speed test app it went to H when downloading. Did you cut your own microsim from a standard SIM? have you tried a friends SIM card to see what happens?
believe it or not, I too experienced the same issue with a cyan lumia 800 unlocked from the UK, where even when I was downloading things, it would not change from 3G!!
I'm using it in sydney, australia on the TPG network, and while i was on 11451 firmware - not only would it not show an update to 12070 via zune, it would never show me H.
I took it to nokia care in parramatta to try and get it updated - see my last post here http://discussions.europe.nokia.com...800-1600-2487-8107-12070/td-p/1341093/page/15 (username cdayo - message 298 on page 15) - to get the full story on what happened there.
But basically after they flashed an unknown rom onto it (i'm assuming some aussie telco's one but it is fully unbranded so i'm not sure), it is now showing H!!!! Additionally, the carrier label used to say YES OPTUS, but after they flashed it to 12070 it now says TPG. Everything is working nicely.
P.S. you might want to change the poll to include a H option lol - if its possible
I've got an unbranded Cyan 800 from the UK and am using it with AT&T in Seattle. Depending on where I am, I've seen G, E, 3G, and H.
G and 3G appear when 2G and 3G signals are too weak. E and H appear when they're stronger.

The SIM is definitely from optus, no dodgy cutting
Regarding your comment on you getting perfect reception on Telstra v your friend's Optus, not surprised at all on that one OPTUS sucks for reception and I can't wait for the contracts to expire. But my optus rant aside, I am aware that H (or 3G+) should only show when you download, same happens on my Omnia 7 but the nokias don't show either even when I compare side by side.
I've never seen an H, just 3G and E. I just thought that the Lumia worked that way.
Telstra Branded Lumia 800 (RM-819)
Hi all
New to the WP7 scene! Love the look and feel of WP7.
I'm aware of the Telstra issues with it not showing H but only 3g but i'm having issues with the reception. I was using a HTC Sensation and was getting pretty much full reception but in the Lumia with Telstra's blue tick i'm only getting 3 or 4 bars. I also have a Motorola Defy which is also Telstra blue tick and it is always full reception.
Anyone know of a good speed test for network on WP7?
Cheers

Hi,
I use:
http://www.ozspeedtest.com/legacy-bandwidth-test/optus-speed-test/1/2
I'm disappointed. I have a RM-819. I have been all around town and I get 3G. Slow 3G, like iPhone 3G, always under 1 mbps. If I put my SIM in an unlocked HTC Radar (yes, a T-Mobile phone), it registers 4G and I get 5-7 mbps. My Lumia 900 gets solid LTE, but that's neither here nor there.
My question is, why can't the Lumia 800, supposedly designed for AT&T for the US market, keep up with the Radar? They support the same bands (T-Mobile doesn't tell you about the 850 support, but HTC documents confirm that it's there.) They have the same cpu/gpu/radio controller.
It sounds like other are getting faux-G speeds on their Lumia - are there specific APN settings that have to go in?
I was sitting here minding my own business when i switched on my lumia and i got the "H" connection on my RM-819. So i thought cool there has been an update for it so i rebooted to see if it was a permanent fix but unfortunately it reverted back to 3g after the reboot...
about 2 hours later i was playing on it again and it again popped up the "H" so this time i watched it and it lasted about 30 seconds and dropped back to 3g... and stayed that way since...
on telstra in Australia... weird...
update ....................
ok so today i got the "H" again and its staying on... wonder if telstra is getting ready for the tango update hope so!
I'm looking at buying a Nokia Lumia 800 from the UK locked on the O2 network.
I live in Perth, Australia.
I figure I can get it unlocked pretty easily. Will the UK version of the 800 work fine in Australia..? Any issues?

Vodafone Australia uses the RM-819 model (850mhz). The UK model is RM-801 which uses the 900mhz band. The UK model would probably work, but not nearly as well as the RM-819.

Thanks for the info.
Is there an 'international' version of the 800, or just the RM-819 & RM-801?
Also, are there different version of the Lumia 900? I've read the U.S. version is configured for a faster data connection.

There are only the RM-801/819 variants of the Lumia 800. No "international" version to speak of.
The US Lumia 900 is configured for LTE. The international version is configured for HSPA/HSPA+.

Lumia 800c unlocked? China Telecom

So, probably a stretch here, but I've been offered a Lumia 800c, which is released for China Telecom (ya, already in the 'huh?' range). I've found the specs, and I don't care about data at the moment, so the fact that it doesnt have 4g and its 3g antennae are CDMA don't matter. Question is, is this phone unlocked so I can use it with Tmobile?
Thanks
