I have dropbox on my Phone and GT7510.
On my computer, i can make a folder that automatically uploads its contents to my Dropbox. Is there a way to make a folder like this on my phone and or tab? Or do I have to upload files one by one?
I see on the Market a paid app called "Sync Folder with Dropbox". Is this the app I need or is there a free way within the Dropbox app?

Does this mean the Dropbox app doesn't have this feature built in?
The app I mentioned is cheaper. Is there an advantage on this one?

Dropbox for Android has some significant limitations in which folders you can and cannot synchronize. RealSync gives you much more control. I like it much better. I don't have any experience with the other app, so I cannot speak to it.

It does work the same as the Dropbox program does on the computer tho? When i put a file into the specified folder, it is automatically uploaded to my dropbox account?

Yes, but you have relatively limited control over where those folders are on your Android device.

600 MB additional free storage
Hi all
Just found a smart way to increase your Dropbox account with 600 MB:
1 Sign into your existing Dropbox account (or create a new account)
2 Goto https://www.dropbox.com/free
3 Follow instructions ... and voila 600 MB additional free storage

Thanks for the tip.
One question though.
Can we revoke the access we gave to our Twitter and Facebook accounts after the free space got added? If we do so, will we lose the extra space we got?

Yes, you can revoke the access and still have the extra space. I did it.
Try this method also to get more free space. Upto 5 GB

Worked for me.
I tossed a bunch of jpeg images and a little over 4 gigs of mp4 video files into a folder within DCIM folder on an SD card and let dropbox sync it via their new autosync feature. Worked like a charm.
Just got my NT, I do not want to root it for the moment. I've ordered a 16gb micro sd from new egg and it wont come until wednesday ( 2 days ) thus I cannot download apps from the amazon app store as it saves the apps you dl to your sd card.
Where are you non rooted & non sd card users getting your apks from?

Probably side loaded from phones.
You can email them to yourself or go to a site that hosts Android Market .apk files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351951&highlight=side+load Should be of some help.

Just an aside ... when I got my Original Droid, it took me about four months to work up the courage to root it, but once I did, I was so glad and never looked back. I got a Samsung Fascinate in February and rooted it the night I got it, and the first thing I did with my NT was root it as well. If you can follow instructions, it is painless, reversible, and awesome! A lot of devs have put in a lot of hard work to make it simple, so I say go for it.

Ahh... I remember the first device that spent a large amount of time modding. The old Motorola L7.
If you use the default browser, you can download and open the apk files for apps without an SD card. So if you can email them or find them online, that'll work.
Also, i was able to transfer apk files into the 'my files' folder via the usb cord, and run them from there without downloading or using my SD card.
I understand that you can e-mail yourself apk's and install them, or even load them up onto the nook itself and install it that way - installing them isn't my issue.
My issue is the fact I do not have an SD card ( yet... Damnit NewEGG.. I even paid for 2 day shipping and I ordered it Thursday night yet you JUST shipped it last night )
Without an SD card I cannot Download from the Amazon App Store - as anything downloaded there goes onto your SD card - which I do not have
I do not have access to the Android market place since I am not Rooted and won't be until I get comfortable with my Nook.
My question is simple: Where the hell can I get safe to download & Updated .APK's?
Throw me a hint as I'm clueless and simple google searching the name of an App and adding APK Download at the end - very, very tedious to find a single app that is the latest build

Amazon's apps are finicky, you may have a lot of trouble using them without an SD card properly seated and detected in your device.
That said, there are a lot of safe site that you can use to download .apk. I know it's tedious to do this for every app, but without a smartphone to simply hit up the market and using Appinstaller (or the like) to extract .apk files you don't have a lot of options.
In other words, I'm SOL until my SD card arrives
Which means I'll be *****ing at NewEgg soon ( as soon as I'm done with this post actually )

Not necessarily, you can still download apps from sites and don't forget all the great apps that are available here on XDA.
You're not going to get the Epicurious app or NYtimes app from here but if you need a utility just search this site for what you need. Alternatively, don't be afraid to ask the Themes/Apps forum to link you to downloads of apps that they are running safely.
Yeah, I getcha but you understand what I mean - I need to jump through some hurdles to get them.
Can't imagine if I hadn't of bought a SD card.. would of been SOL for real, lol
Apktop.com has alot of apps

Check out Share Apps. Install on your phone, then email your favorite apps to yourself. It sends you the apk which you can then load on your NT.

I do not have a smart phone or any other tablet device other than my Nook Tablet.
Does this mean that I cannot buy certain paid apps? For example, if a paid app on the Android market says that it is incompatible with the NT, I will have no way to get it.
Fr3d,some apps simply don't work and some marketplsces require an SD card on your device to even download apps. You can avoid the incompatable thing from the android market place by googling the application and downloading the app from a third party website, but even then some apps simply don' t work.
Ok so I have 74mb of space left. And I'm trying to download a 9.xx mb app from the play store. However it says I can't because I have insufficient space available. I don't understand how I don't have enough space st 74 MB to download a 9 mb app. I've cleared cache and everything too. Can anyone give me an answer as to why this is? Fyi the app is the game minibash, if that makes a difference
Menu/ Settings/ applications/ manage applications / All (apps) / Google Play Store / Clear cache
try it
Wheres it trying to install SD card or internal memory? 9mb is the compressed file size, once installed it will be larger.
Maybe android is reserving a certain amount of working space for caches and stuff like that. Can you push some apps to sd to free up some space?

Transfer apps from SD to Phone, or from Phone to SD
Every app that is movable has been moved
any apps on which I can clear the data to free up space, like amazon appstore and play store, etc have been cleared, and I clear the cache like 5 times a day. I don't know what else to do.

It tells me on the play store that the size is 9.02 mb. From the play store page of that app I don't know how to tell if it installs onto the sd card or the phone. Is there a wqy to tell?
How many apps have you downloaded? Free up some space by deleting an app or two that you don't use much. Then download this set it to external and move apps at will to the sd card. You should then have plenty of space.
Ok if you're in this forum you should have the evo 3d too, but if you did you'd know that the app you told me to download is not compatible with the 3vo, so I can't use that to help me since I can't download it.

An update then must have made it incompatible if it used to be... Thats how an app is on my phone right now, it has an update but when I go to update it it says its not compatible with my phone so I can't update it. OH well. That'd be a really awesome app cuz i have some apps that are like 10+ mb that are not sd compatible so if I could force them to go there that'd be awesome. But it's not compatible. shoot

You might give that a shot, I have no idea how well it works.

Hey guys!
I'm looking for an app to do what titanium backup does (put app + data in a bunch of .tar.gz files) but to also upload them to dropbox or some cloud storage.
I need it to be free because I'm not allowed to do payments through the play store so paying for an app is a no-go for me, even though there are "other methods" it isn't ethical and I don't want to use those apps that way, because I wouldn't like the same thing to be done for the apps I might develop in the future.
Still, I found some that can backup to the cloud but only apps, no data. Is there any which can do so?
Thanks in advance!
- DARKGuy
*bump* whoah two days and no replies? or is someone developing something no one has yet? because I don't think that what I'm asking for hasn't been done before, or am I wrong?

TruBackup is undoubtedly the best android mobile backup application, when it comes to backing up all your data in a preferred cloud service provider like Dropbox. Though this app is paid, they are now offering the premium version for free. No doubt, it's an amazing app you can try without any trouble as it is highly user friendly. Find truBackup in Google PlayStore.
I understand xda considers this app as a bad thing to talk about. I just dont see it that way.

I want to use this app for a legit reason. My s5 is a 16gig phone. I am running out of memory. Some apps just will not move to sd card. i was told to google this app and download it. Let it odex all files on my phone. It even says it frees up space on tool tip. Would this be a safe idea? Also i see that with 1 click i can wipe the dalvik cache. I use root explorer to do that, but thats a few clicks just to do that. Another reason i like luckly patcher.
So again, please mods dont close this topic till i get a straight answer about odex all files. Just cant get a google search to give me a direct answer. Also if odex the files is safe, would i have to stay away from clearing the dalvik cache? I play marvel avengers alliance on android. Tap joy gives free in game currency for downloading apps off play store. So after every 10 apps i uninstall ,i clear dalvik.

Odexing files will not necessarily free up disk space. If (at best) it may give you a very slight increase in boot time, that is it. If you want to try and force apps to sdcard then i would try to use an app like titanium backup. Most likely though you would probably benefit more from seeking out what us using all your space. Their are many disk analyzing apps in the store that will help you. if you play some games though, a lot of them download and store many mb of data on your sdcard for the game to function properly and it cannot be removed to play the game.

I suggest using folder mount. You can place internal folders onto the external memory card and use folder mount to mount that external folder to the internal one.
