New rom, old bug...try to unmount your sdcard before installation. Go to settings / storage / unmount sdcard, go to market and install angry birds.
PS: don't forget to mount sdcard again.

Thanks a lot.
Tried deleting smdl2tmp1.asec and got the error.
Then I tried installing while sd card was mounted on a pc and that worked.
Thanks again.

OK, so lets try this again. I'm trying to get my Market to update to the newest version! had to hard reset my vibrant and now cant seem to get the Market to update! did it before but now nothing seems to work! tried launching it and then going back to Home Screen and waiting but still didn't update. also tried rebooting my vibrant many times. even tried installing 2.2 market apk. but that also fails to install! so xda friends please help me out! I need the new market!! Thanks
I'm probably missing your point, but grab the vending.apk and drop it in system/apps and reboot.
Already tried the vending app.wont install says a install error!

you do not install system apps, you move them to system/app and reboot.
Now, if you are talking about the 2.2 updated market for people on Eclair, you can just download that to your sd and install it and then click to "update"
I actually did not like the 2.2 market on eclair builds, but left it in the sticky so people could try it.

thanks a million!
Dam it. Nothing seems to be working. Cant install the vending apk. Because it pops up a parsing error.cant install package! Tried moving it to system/apps folder but says I dont have permissions error! Why is the Market not updating on its own? I need the newest version of the Market. If you have any ideas please let me know asap. Maybe im just stupid! Thanks for any help!

Go to the tips and tricks thread on your phone. DL the market app. Click open once the DL completes. (If you have an app like apKatcher installed be sure to chose 'package installer'). That's it. I've done it probably a dozen times with no issues.

Omg thanks that worked great! Will I be able to get future market updates. Meaning will it update on its own? Thanks for all the help!

Hi,
I have downloaded one app from Market, after downloading 100%, it automatically disappears..without installation...
Since, it was a huge file almost 23 MB, so it is very difficult for me to re-download.
Can any one tell me, where the downloaded file saved on Phone. So that I can go and install it.
Thanks.
Once downloaded it gets installed automatically afaik

I know dear..but in this case it was not..thats why I am asking, where it is located...on my cell..
If you're asking about the file it's in data>app, if you're talking about launching it it should be in the app drawer of whatever launcher you are using. If it's not installed in data/app there should be a problem.
Edit: if you downloaded but it didn't auto-install, it would have been stored in Dalvik cache but by now it should have been cleared from your system... just download it again over a wifi network, best solution.

It's in data/dalvik-cache. If there's not enough space in there your download will not even start.

Try finding an apk file for the market. Uninstall the one of your phone and install the downloaded one.

Or else do a manual install of market app. We have a lots of them in apps section. Fix permissions. Use android commander from pc and install that app as a system app. But you need google account and its services to detect.
I Have an x10 mini pro.

rooted Phone using super One CLick
Installed xrecovery
Installed CWM using xrecovery
Backed up using xrecovery then Backed up again using CWM.
Charged the phone to %100.00
Installed the ROM using CWM.
Succesfully installed the rom ||MiniCM7Pro - V21 FINAL|| BY ||Paul-xx||
Problem is
Missing Market.
it states install manually, how do i do that?
It's already located in the /system/apps
i tapped the vending.apk and overrite the install and it is still not showing, How come?
try to clear data then copy vending.apk to system/app and set permission 644...and reboot.

have you signed in to google for your account?
Try using the browser on your phone to go to google play, it might update your market application when you log in there.

Hi guys. I guess ive screwed up. Am no pro to custom roms and stuff all I can do and always do is root my mobile and use link2sd for extra downloading and delete unnecessary apps like wisepilot and stock demo games.
The issue is with my market it has updated, and I downloaded a number of apps via it this evening. But from the past few hours its not getting started. When trying to download the message appears (starting download) but doesn't. Ive reinstalled the googleapp via flashtools via rootmanager, reinstalled by the option via link2sd, restored my backup via xrecovery, deleted the cache, but none of these worked. Please help.
