The famous SMS bug where your text messages go to a different recipient bit me last night, using the stock HTC mms app on an old rom. Using handcent or a different 3rd party app usually makes that problem go away. The new roms (i'm flashing BAMF 2.0.5 right now) all feature sense 3.0 mms apps, do these solve that sms bug or no?
I have had many bugs with 2.0.5. The camera is on like at least a 5 second delay, if it doesn't FC first. I get MMS out of order and I am currently in the process of going back to 1.6.3 until these minor flaws get worked out. I would love to keep 2.0.5 on my phone but I need it to be reliable and stable and have all of the phones features working properly.
In by no way am I knockin the work of team BAMF or their work. As a matter of fact I love it. Just like a little more options and customizations available for my phone. I am going to continue to flash every new update for BAMF GB but just want something to fall back on until the final is released.
This is only prevalent in a previous version of gingerbread. Should be patched in 2.3.4.

Meaning what exactly? All versions of GB are 2.3.4?

are all htc phones laggy with the messaging app?
i had a blackberry before and as soon as i opened up a set of threaded texts on it i could reply.. i get that stupid 'loading' screen every time i try to open up a text conversation for at least a second or two.
with every rom/kernal update (been running das bamf remix since it came out and am on 1.6.2 now) it seems to stay as slow as stock.
i tried handcent and it seemed better but my notifications got messy so i didn't keep it.
any recommendations?
Atm0, I haven't seen any issues with the messaging app. How are you running with your the rest of your apps? whats your ram usage like? Have you tried BAMFs Desensed ROM or Tesla Coil?
CommRom 2.1 is based off of the ED01 release. Looking at ED04 & ED05 (ED03 was just an OTA fix) the main things they addressed were improved incoming call quality & the "supposed" missed call fix and fixes to SMS (sending single-recipient SMS after a multi-recipient and SMS replying to the right place.
My question: did the developers of CommRom fix these issues themselves? Since they had the base code I figured maybe they did (they're probably capable of it) but I don't see anything about them in the release notes.
I'd like to try CommRom 2.1 with the TW4 theme & launcher with an ED05 kernel to fix the missed calls, but if it still has these other issues I'd rather hold off.
Anyone else know if these are corrected or if they still have these problems in CommRom 2.1?
As far as I know they did not fix any of those problems. SMS maybe, but the missed calls, and similar issues where not fixed.
I wonder if I replace the SMS.apk file with the one from ED05 it would take care of that problem? The missed call issue sounds like a kernel issue according total other threads so using an ED05 kernel would solve that problem.

Probably would, I know when I was having MMS/SMS problems in MiuiWiz, flashing a different, and working sms.apk, fixed the problem.
Only one way to find out, can't hurt anything to try.
Try flashing ed05 radio

Would it be possible to use the contact and dialer from an AOSP rom on a sense rom. I tried using the ones from CM7 and am having some issues.
Edit: I figured it out and have AOSP contacts and dialer now working on a Sense 3.0 Rom incase anyone wants it!
Not saying I particularly want it but why offer it but share no information on how to do it?

I did it that way because I didn't make the mod. The thread started out because I was having issues getting the AOSP contacts and dialer to work on my phone, so I was looking for help. After I figured it out I thought I would see if anyone was intreasted in this mod and I can send them the file or explain how they can get them. I used the contacts from CM7 which includes the dialer. If you use the dialer.apk from CM7 it will break your phone, Kills signal / service. I have the contacts pulled from that Rom if anyone wants it. I take no credit for it in any way.
im Interested!!! Hate the Rosie Dialer!!
I have a Rogers GSm version, dont know if that would affect anything
Here is the contacts apk. It is NOT flashable through recovery. Install using a file manager (like Astro) I did not create this so I take no credit for this. This came from CM7.

This is interesting. Many people including myself have wanted to have the option to integrate the aosp dialer/ contacts into a sense based rom since the good old Hero days but based on the way the two are integrated into Sense roms as a whole, this has never been possible.
I can't remember the technical reasons why, only that many concluded it wasn't much of a possibilty.
Anyway, if anyone else can confirm that we can now have these features integrated into Sense as the op states, that would be awedome.

There are a few issues with using the ASOP contacts with a sense rom. For instance joining contacts will cause a FC. I run a customized rom with as much sense removed as possible. To achieve this I have modified the ASOP contacts to work better on sense. I've never released the modified contacts because I don't have time to support it. The features I use work fine now (for instance the join fc is fixed) ; however, I'm sure there are other issues and at the moment I have no time to resolve anything found.
If people are willing to live with what you get is what you get I can post my modified contacts tonight after work.
HtcDialer still needs to be installed. I can also post a version of this modded to hide the icon from the app drawer and to stop it from being used for certain functions (a convenience feature so I don't have to select the ASOP contacts as the default)

Greetings,
Has anybody noticed their text/mms messages disapearing after 30 days? I have the setting unchecked to auto-delete messages, & the messages are still disappearing. Is there any fix for this? This is driving me nuts.
I use myBackup Pro to back up my text/mms messages so they're not technically lost, but I don't understand why the messaging app doesn't allow me to see past 30 days...
Can anybody confirm this?
which rom? any mods. need all possible info on your setup
I'm running NilsP ICS Global build ROM w/ Sense 3.6. I'm rooted w/ S-off. Running latest firmware, radios from the Global update.
I don't have any custom mods running over the ROM.

This has been an ongoing problem I'd say since KitKat ROMs released for me anyway. I've seen other people post about it but it's kind of sporadic as far as who it's happening to because the majority of people don't seem to have this issue. When using an AOSP based ROM no matter what I've used (currently ParanoidAnroid, in the past LiquidSmooth, CM, and a few others) my SMS capabilities are very hindered. I can send one, maybe two texts and then it will just not send anymore until I reboot the phone. Incoming text still come in just fine. It's just when I text to someone it will sit there sending for about 30 seconds follow by "Unable to send". I tried some of the workarounds people suggested in specific ROM threads that they thought might fix it to no avail (using 3rd party SMS app, disabling Google Movies). What ends up happening is that I'll have to flash back to a Sense ROM which isn't the end of the world but I really like using the AOSP based ROMs as I can do so much more with those in the means of customization and they just seem more snappy and "familiar" to me, coming from a Galaxy Nexus that I was always tweaking and trying out new ROMs.
Has there been any fixes that people have found for this issue? As I said right now I'm running ParanoidAndroid, the latest build with PA GAPPs and I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to a Sense app once again. I waited a couple months before flashing any more AOSP based ROMs thinking with all the updates that get done to some of these ROMs maybe whatever was causing this to happen would be magically fixed in newer versions of the ROMS. Any help/tips you could shoot my way I'd be very appreciative!
