Lost notification bar after BAMF GB install - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Posted in the BAMF dev thread, but it got lost in the deluge.
was using Airborne senseless.
Wiped cache & dalvik twice, installed BAMF from recovery. No notification bar. Switched between launcherPro, ADW, and the stock launcher, still missing.
Wiped thrice, recovered Airborne, then repeated the above install.
Still missing. Any ideas?

I did install the required GB radio adrynalyne posted. 3g, LTE, everything works fine.
Are you suggesting a factory reset?

It's because you are only wiping cache & davlik and not data. It states right in the OP what to do.
I also recommend a data wipe with this version. If coming from Froyo, its REQUIRED.

EDIT: why are you installing airborne and then installing BAMF overtop of that?

This happened to me the first time I tried this ROM. I fixed it by re-downloading the ROM and installing through recovery nor ROM Manager and doing a factory reset before rebooting.

I guess I misunderstood. I'd flashed other ROMs without wiping data, and never had an issue. I just thought OP meant cache/dalvik. I didn't realize wiping data was a separate thing. I guess I got away with just cache/dalvik wipes, until going from Froyo to GB. I see now where I messed up.
I didn't flash on top of airborne, I restored a backup to get to "zero" then tried the bamf install again.
Thanks for cluing me in!

You don't restore a backup and then flash a rom. Wipe everything, then install the rom. Restoring a backup and then flashing any rom over top of that will most likely give you problems.

Quesion about Das BAMF rom

installed 1.1 correctly, everything worked find, upgraded to 1.2 everything went smoothyly except when i try to install any app from the market i get an error "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Try to clear cache under applications for the market. But you should ask this at the rom thread....

Flashed this rom (and kernel) and now I am not able to get past the TBolt boot screen with the thunder. Hung there for over 2 mins.
-I flashed the kernel with hboot
-installed the ROM with CWR (rom manager) 3.0.2.4
-also cleared the download cache in Rom Manager, deleted and reflashed the recovery.
Still hangs...

usually best practice is, wipe data X2, wipe cache X2, wipe dalvik cache X2, then flash the rom, fully boot the rom, go back to Hboot and flash the kernal.
I believe they are saying to NOT wipe 1.1 for this ROM? I could be wrong. I think they said to just flash OVER the current 1.1, as wiping will cause it to hang on the cloud screen. I think that's the lastest from that 30+ page thread .
Fix permissions on cwr.

Reflash ROM and wipe your data and cache. Had the same problem, and that worked for me.

what do you mean you lost root... hboot no longer shows S-Off?
and my bad, I didn't know their second version of the rom was all weird and needed to be flashed over the original.
Hmm just checked hoot still shows s_off but root checker says Su not found in path. Also still getting that weird market error when I try to install anything. It downloads just won't install.

you have to have version 1.1 installed first. So you need to wipe data and cache. Flash version 1.1 and reboot. Let it get past the clouds and boot into the rom. go back into cwm and flash 1.2. DO NOT WIPE DATA!!! Wiping cache is fine. If you wipe data you will have problems.

Com.phone.

When I reboot with any rom my phone and texting stops working and I have no signal and is say com.phone.something has stopped working and makes me force close it and then I have to reflash the rom again to get it to work again any ideas on how to fix this?

Are you doing a factory data/reset, wiping cache and wiping dalvik right before rom flash and immediately after. Doing this should correct your issue. If not, then something is internally wrong.
I use the wipe versions of the rims

You still need to manually wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik then install the rom and immediately wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik again.
Try those steps and see what happens.
wipe dalvik is in the advanced menu of CWM
When full wipe roms came out it was thought that it would take care of the wiping for you, but many have learned the hard way to manually do it as well and 9 times out of 10 it fixes the problems.
I have never had one rom give me a problem and Im sure its because I follow these steps.
*****try "fix permissions" with CWM or Rom Manager also******

Michaelatrix do what Dirtburgler say. I just had the same exactly problem after flash Cherry rom and after I read this thread and follow what Dirtburgler say I don't have the problem anymore.
Edit: My problem was different. My error was to try to restore a SMS backup from Titanium backup. I never do a full restore from Titanium just apps and SMS/MMS/Dialer but I guess that SMS/MMS/Dialer has a different version than Cherry use (I was using 2.3.4 stock).

I will say 90% of the people in here will say it is not the rom. just because theres seems to work. and i tend to agree. what have you tried to fix it? besides going back (to Stock). i have not had any issues with WiFi on Serephim yet, so i can not say what a fix would be. maybe wipe your cache's. when i had that issue on GB i had to reinstall the kernel and boom it worked. but seeing as though we do not have one yet for ICS. i would say wipe and worst case reinstall the from after a very Thurough Wiping Process.

Then if your into flashing right now, just try either the superwipe.
Or this is how i wipe.
I factory default/format usb from inside the rom.
I wipe factory/data from cwm
i wipe cache partition from cwm
i wipe delvik from cwm
then i flash "Rom" and reboot.
this leaves nothing from previous roms and or Gingerbreak roms.
try that and see if it works. if not then i am out of ideas until a kernel source is released.
Ok i will try that and see if it works...
Thank you!!!

CMX install problems "unfortunately phone/ui isnt respondong"

Hopefully I can get some help from you guys I'm currently on hboot 1.12 HTC devunlock and I'm running TWRP 2.2.1. I've already tried wiping and reflashing and it didn't help. Any help would be appreciated.

IF S-ON = True:
Then you have to flash the boot.img kernel file via fastboot. I would also try downloading the ROM file again and double checking MD5 just in case.
IF S-OFF = True:
Download the ROM again and check the MD5, make sure you wipe the hell out of your phone, and if your coming from another ROM or Stock, don't recovery any Nandroid info, you should have to reinstall your apps or recover via MyBackup or Titanium Backup (app + data, no system apps).

I thought it was only if you had updated to 1.15 for the hboot that you have to flash the bootimg..... nvm ill try it once i get home
Definitely sounds like you might have a bad download. Also download the superwipe zip and use that too. With hboot 1.12 you should be fine to flash without any special procedures.

A known issue in CMX is that phone process will crash, it does this while the phone searches for a signal, once a signal is found it should stop. Just try waiting it out, it doesn't really affect anything, once the message is gone you will be fine

That is only for HBOOT 1.15 and up. HBOOT 1.12 allows for flashing of kernel from recovery with S-ON.
When you say you tried "wiping and reflashing", what exactly did you wipe? You should do a factory reset, then wipe data, system, cache, and dalvik. Then flash the ROM.

Don't forget data too
One user kept corrupting his phone with a backup of user data, I don't know how or where he got the relevant knowledge to obtain just an image apps and user data but it was corrupt and he stuck himself in an endless cycle of reformat and reflash apps and data. A human boot loop lol I was thinking about adding it to the troubleshooting guide but what are the odds that someone who doesn't know what they are doing will create a zip install of backed up data (or fail really since it is corrupt) and flash it *looks around in baited breath* well OK then
Well i think the factory reset worked now i get a not so frequent dialog saying process.phone.android has stopped. Should i reflash or just wait it out? lol
I would wait it out
I had this exact same problem. My issue was I had flashed a modified mail app that got rid of the Exchange Security Lock. Once I factory reset I was fine. When I tried flashing that Mail app again, I got the same Phone has quit error over and over.

Google market back up has been a long time feature. Its just that OEMS won't include it or for some reason disable it. Every HTC Android phone I have own has asked permission for Google market back up but upon factory reset or flash, sense will disable it the automatic restore

[Q] Laggy i717 JB - Fix or ROM?

I tried CM a while back (WAY back, actually - pre-ICS) for the i717. It wasn't bad but after a while I went back to stock because for me it just 'felt' better. Hard to explain it other than that. In any case, I've been on full stock ever since and was happy with it.
Then Official JB comes out from the carrier and my phone is laggy as all hell and it's gotten to the point of royally pissing me off to the point that I'm considering my options.
My question is this: Do we know the cause of the lag? If so, is it fixable via custom kernel or something similar, or do I need to go to a whole separate ROM to get away from the problem (and are there any in particular that are recommended if that is the case)?

I don't recall, but if I had to venture a guess I'd say probably not. I followed the above thread to the 'slow 4.1.2' and disabled everything I could on that list and did a restart, not sure which one did the trick but now it's nice and speedy.Hoping it stays this quick and isn't just a factor of not a lot built up in memory yet. I'll try a factory reset if it bogs down again.
there could also be some existing apps that continue to run in the background.
you might either go into app manager and force close them and clear their cache individually
OR
maybe reboot phone every day or two. clearing any cache build up. kind of a preventative maintinence thing.
if you ventured new ROM, may I suggest Padawawn.
every phone is a bit different, but I have had the best results ever
4.2.2 ROMs perform better IMO. Good luck
™
i prefer stock as well and was also experiencing lag until i found the right setup for myphone. started out by debloating. then flashed phasekernel_jb.3 and use setcpu or whatever tuner app you prefer and set governor = fantasy/scheduler = sio/min = 384/max = 1728. all phones are different so you may need to try different settings to find what works for yours. i have not had any lag since.
Here is what worked for me. I had the same issue as you and posted it a while back. This also greatly increased my battery life. I suggest that if you are rooted go ahead and wipe the device - in fact do it twice! You will have to reinstall of you your apps but it got rid of all the lag and almost doubled my battery life.

If yes, can I just install the SuperSU zip from TWRP? No need to re-root?
