So as the question says, is there a way to make the roaming signal icon (the one with the exclamation just above the bars, its in the framework/resources file) show up when the bolt is on the 'Extended Network'? I just want to be able to differentiate when its going away to the Extended network vs being on the VZ network, without pulling down the notification bar?

I'm using the icbar program on my xda and love it. I'm trying to customize it so it shows the phone icon that is displayed on the normal start bar (the one with the signal strength, etc.). I'm able to get it on their with a default icon (blue square). It functions like this, if you click on it (shows connection options, turn off phone), but doesn't display signal strength, etc. What can I change the icon to so it works correctly?

Click to collapse
Well, I e-mailed the author of icbar, and he said that currently it can't do this . So, I was wondering if their is another program (that can be ran from icbar) that would show the signal strength, alerts, etc? Or is their a program similar in function to wisbar/icbar that doesn't cover up the system (?) notifications? I like to know when I have a voicemail
Hi all,
Since I updated my systemui.apk to have a blue signal bar I keep getting this strange SIM icon showing intermittently next to my wi-fi signal icon?
Does anyone know what this is as I cannot find any alerts, there is nothing to click on or configure?
Never seen this before now?
What are the meanings for the 3G/4G status bar icon colors changing from gray to blue? Mine seem to stay gray today and will not turn blue like it has been previously. If you have a good explaination I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Edit:
I figured out the difference in the 3G/4G status bar icon colors. Blue is when background data is enabled and gray is when background data is disabled. (you will also see gray 3G/4G icons for a few seconds while your phone switches between 3G and 4G)
To change this setting go to... Settings: Battery and data manager: Data delivery
Check or unchecked the box accordingly. We learn something everyday.
I come from the Heroland and that usually means that you aren't logged into your gmail account or no internet connection. Just my 0.02 cents!

Gray from what I can tell is no active data connection.. It's trying to connect but not.. I see it when going from 3g to 4G and the reverse

When it's blue then your phone has a connection to google's servers (ie. your gmail account) and gray means that it doesnt have any connection to google's servers.
Thanks for the answers guys. I'm only getting gray 3G and 4G icons now. Not sure why but my data speeds are back to crap again also. Maybe I turned off "background data" so I'm about to check.
Hi,
I don't really like the way Android (in fact CM13.0) handles the mobile data in the status bar. If I have both WLAN and LTE enabled, I have absolutely no notification that the mobile data is enabled. Then, if I lose the WLAN connection, the mobile data will be automatically used. I have a small network plan so I'd like to avoid it.
The solution would be a status bar icon showing up whenever cellular data is on, whether or not the real connection is WLAN or cellular, on the right side of the status bar, just as all the system icons.
First of all: has anyone already written something like that?
If not: I'd like to create such an application. I know that the right side of the status bar is reserved for system apps. Does it mean that if I install the app, spawning the status bar icon, as a system app, it'll automatically be shown on the right side of the screen?
Besides, is it possible to create a status bar icon without a notification in the notification list? Maybe Xposed would help?
Thanks for answering newbie questions
I'm currently using 2 sims on the dual sim model, and there are 2 signal strength indicators in the status bar to the left of the notch. That leaves practically no room for actual notifications, so I'm wondering if there's a way to hide the signal strength indicator for both carriers I'm on? I've tried using SYSTEMUI Tuner but none of the toggles would hide any of the indicators.
Silly question but did you restart your device after using system ui tuner?
Not a silly question at all, in fact I and not restarted the device after flipping the toggles but in my defence, it was because I could see other indicators appear and disappear in real time so I didn't think it was necessary. Nonetheless I did try to restart after turning off a few items that seem to relate to signal strength but still no dice. Thanks for the suggestion though!
I am having the same issue, looks like you can only have one notification for the dual sim version. I assume the only solution is to use the number of notifications option rather than the icon, given that only one icon will appear at a time. For example, I set up call forwarding and despite having several notifications, only the CF icon appears in the bar. If you add Network Speed then none will.
