[Q] Battery Drainage/Wipe Battery Stats - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I recently got the Galaxy S2 and I'm really enjoying it! the only problem i had till now is the battery drainage issue.
Because of this issue I asked what to do and someone told me to do heartagramm's tutorial of calibrating battery, the only problem is that it says in the tut i need to wipe battery stats and i can't find it in the recovery.
1. Where is it? do i need a custom recovery?
2. Do you have a different fix for the battery drainage?
(While using 3G and playing a little the battery died in 5 hours)

Battery fix is use the battery .
Battery stats via root explorer .
No custom recovery yet .
Wiping battery stats may well just be false information >> wipe stas and in a few days your battery is better or just wait a few days and your battery is better .
Battery drain = programs draining the battery ..
may help.

[Q] How to calibrate a new battery for full run time

Hello,
I have ordered a new higher MAH battery for SGS II . I may be running stock ROM/Kernel or any of the custom AOSP ROM/Kernel.
During the kernel/ROM updates I have read that we dont usually need to clear the battery stats (since we are using the same existing battery).
However I will now be using the following battery :
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0058SJ5Q4/ref=oh_o00_s01_i02_details
I need to how to properly calibrate the battery status so I can achieve full charge and maximum run time from this battery. Do I need to clear battery stats (from recovery mode) first and then insert the battery for first time usage or otherwise.
Have read a couple of posts on the subject however none provides a clear defined and fixed approach to the issue.
Any detailed guidance would be appreciated to be of benefit for the community in general.
Thanks.
=================================
Guess there are already enough methods and ways and some even debunk the myth that does the phone really needs any type of calibration/calibration apps at all or not.
Will try diving into it directly to see the effects myself if any.
You don't need to do anything other than sticking it in your phone.
When I got the 2000mah battery, I found my battery life to be equal or even slightly less than the stock one. I fully charged the battery, went to cwm and wiped battery stats, used battery completely till it died and then fully charged once again. It did seem to work as my battery life was much better.

He's right. Your battery calibrates itself with a full charging.
i read in a number of articles that you should reset/wipe your battery stats with CWM once your battery is at 100%, then switch off your phone and connect to a charger usb/plug until it will be charged to the actual 100% (usually only 1-2% at most)...

All 100% wrong .
As it only wipes the stats that show and plays no part in calibration of the battery .

thnx for the correction, what do you think about "Battery Monitor Widget" app? Does its function to calibrate actually work?
Got intrigued by the issue...
No, it doesn't. Due to hardware 'limitations', battery apps can only provide a rough guess at best of charge remaining, discharge rate, etc on SGS2.
And genuine (made by Samsung) batteries don't have to be (and cannot be) calibrated. There's a fuel gauge chip in the battery which does this automatically.
Some people having issues with the battery report charging to 100%, removing the battery for a few minutes (so the fuel gauge chip doesn't have power for that time) & putting it back in the phone fixes their issues, but even that sounds like voodoo to me.

battery calibration app

Hi,
I was wondernig if any of you guys have used this app on your stock, non-rooted phones?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...xLDMsImNvbS5uZW1hLmJhdHRlcnljYWxpYnJhdGlvbiJd
I feel like I should be getting better battery life.
One more question, if i get a replacement battery, is there a need to do anything to wipe out battery stats, or just pop in the battery and go??
Thanks again
As battery calibration apps can not work and are placebos why bother .
Battery is self calibrating .
Battery stats do not need wiping but you do no harm .They play no part whatsoever in battery drain and do not recalibrate a battery .
Better Battery Stats and Wakelocks first call for battery drain .

how to overcome the Battery Life Problem in cyanogenmod

This is a simple way to increase the battery life in cyanogenmod... this worked for me,..
1. Goto cwm and clear the battery stats
2. Charge the phone to 100% (make sure it is 100% by checking the battery status..)
3. NOw allow it to completely discharge ... do not connect the charger until the phone is shutdown automatically...
4. Once the phone turned off due to complete draining of the battery, charge it and use it normally..,
hope it helps
i have a better idea, bring powerbank 5200ma or up, when u go out. ur device will not run out battery even on hard gaming all day long. like i did

yep, maybe it doesnt help but it work for me
1st charge 100% while phone is on
2nd reboot to cwm n wipe battery stats
3rd turn the phone off then charge it to 100%, cause it will tell u that ur battery isnt full yet (charge it about 20 minutes or more)
4th turn it on while still charging
5th unplug the charger n use ur phone as usual

If it doesn't help, then how does it work???
I'm not trying to argue here, I'm just saying that wiping the stats won't help improving battery life. So if you say so, on what basis?
Anyways, cheers!
not improving battery life but, correcting current battery stats. it happen when u often switch rom n restore from cwm then u feel like ur battery drain more quickly than usual, so i tried the method i post earlier n it works

Wiping battery stats does not calibrate battery, contrary to popular belief. The real way to calibrate a battery is done by completing the following steps.
1. Discharge your device fully
2. Without booting it up, plug the device into your power supply and let it charge till you know it's full.
3. Unplug, and pull out the battery for about 20 seconds and put it back in and reboot.
4. All done, enjoy
Hit thanks if this helped

Using battery for a week will recalibrate .
Only time to wipe stats is if stats are messed up .
Question posted multiple times if you want more answers .

have you unlocked your bootloader? if yes, change your kernel with other compatible kernel.
If no, try wipe battery cache from CWM..

That happened to me. What I did was...
01. Let the battery drain to 0
02. Charge fully offline
03. Repeat until battery drain is normal (100 to 0)
Wipe battery stats isn't actually needed. From what I have observed, the problem fixes itself over time.
