Place one of these packages on your SD card and flash it from recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=605463&d=1306198028 or: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=605464&d=1306198028 The first link is if you are running a voodoo kernel. The second link is if you are running a non-voodoo kernel. Since you were using CR I'm assuming you were on voodoo and therefore you need to flash the first package. This is better than wiping.

[Q] Kernal and Fresh Install questions

okay first off i have to say thank you to all the developers for making all the updates for these amazing roms and kernals. they just make me feel like i get a new phone everytime an update comes out. well on to my issue.
First question is: how do i COMPLETELY deletely everything off my phone and do a fresh install of a rom and kernal? i have done the whole process of the wiping the devlik and cache and all that good stuff but when i flash the new rom and i browse my internal sd i still see all those folders from old apps and such. i have deleted them but i really wanna just wipe everything and start fresh with a gooey rom and lighting kernal.
Second question: currently i am running bionix-v but i had the dragon kernal version 2.6.32.9 when i flashed that. now when i try to flash the newest dragon kernal on top of it it just doesn't seem to update. when i go to settings and about phone my kernal version still says 2.6.32.9. did i do something wrong or is there a way for me to do it different? if i'm all good already it's no biggie, just curious.

internal sd, even though it is "internal", is still completely seperate from the phone's memory. its basically an external sd that cannot be removed from the phone. you will have to mount it to a computer and delete everything, or you can format the sd through clockworkmod.
as far as wiping your phones memory, just factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache. this will get it pretty clean. however the CLEANEST wipe you can do would be to ODIN bock to stock JFD firmware.
as far as updating your kernel, the reason its probably saying the saem version number is probably because it is the same version number (or the developer forgot to update that), but it just had some minor tweaks. I can assure you if you flash it right and get those wierd oversized blue text screen when flashing, your upgrade worked.

[q] help please settings wont save!!!

ok i need help like asap my phone is really important to my life and i just did a totall wipe complete formatt when to dl09 then tried to get to the ed01 radio for the evil fascination rom. it didnt work so i dropped the project and re rooted using odin with the 2.2 full froyo and then odin-ed clockwork 3.0 lag fix red version then flashed the evil fascination rom. everything seemed fine and i set up my phone and everything but now my txts arent saving the settings such as display brightness vibration sounds lock screen pinlock etc arent saving and as soon as i shut down they go back. i tried everything like the adb code to add the settings file and disabling lagfix. i go to my mounts and storage and i keep seeing my data and dbdata arent mounted everytime i boot into recovery....could this be it is my fascinate not auto mounting them?....im going nuts and have been trying things all day and i need help!!!
My thought would be to take a deeeep breath...and start from scratch.
Re-ODIN DL09, then follow adryn's guide to get to EA28 (using the update.zip files), then get to ED01 the same way (using recovery and update.zip)
Then you can download community Rom onto your SD card, ODIN cwm, and immediately boot into cwm to flash comm Rom 1.3. Don't forget to clear cache and dalvik cache. Next reboot will take quite a while. Be patient.

If you phone is THAT important to your LIFE, you probably should load a stock rom and let the OTA come through, then just leave it alone. You will probably have less issues if you are running stock firmware. If problems persist, then return the phone for replacement.

[Q] This noob needs some help please

Alright guys...this is what I did. I downloaded the newest radio MR2 for Gingerbread...then downloaded BAMF 2.0-5. I went into hboot...flashed the MR2...then rebooted and went into recovery via Rom Manger and attempted to flash BAMF 2.0...recieved a couple of error messages followed by (bad). Oh and I did wipe data before flashing Rom. So then I did a system restore....I just rooted a couple of days ago and as soon I downloaded Rom Manager I did a nand backup of everything stock.
Now I don't have data..when I go into hboot it goes to the "do you want to update" part. The only thing I have in CWM is the nandroid stock restore and the BAMF Rom I could not flash. I've googled for the past hour and cannot find out how to get out of this. Hope someone can help...thanks in advance.
Oh and while I was freakin out trying to fix whetever I screwed I lost CWM. No longer have Rom Manager.

you need to delete the Gingerbread (MR2) PG05IMG from sd card...download one of the froyo radios and flash in bootloader just as you did the Gingerbread radio. then you should be able to boot back up into your restored nandroid rom.
The reason you don't have data is that you restored down to a Froyo (MR1) based ROM, but that does not restore your radio. Grab the 1.13.605.7 radio combo from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081 and flash it the same way you did the MR2 radio. You'll have data back. GB-based ROMs won't work, but if you want it back to normal, do that.
Now, redownload and install ROM Manager from the market. From within ROM Manager, you can reflash CWM. Remove or rename the PG05IMG.zip from the SD card then reboot into recovery to verify. Now you're all set.
Next time, keep track of what the errors you got from CWM were when you tried to flash the ROM. It's really hard to diagnose a problem without them.

Here is a new one for me - Random Reset's

So here is one for ya.
I can't access my SD Card at all with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25816870#post25816870 rom installed. I click to mount SD card and nothing happens. In recovery I can access the SD card backups etc
I find it strange. Although I do have to ask, I have been having this weird problem. I have Clean Rom 4.3 Installed (ICS) and I have been getting some random reset's and slow this or that. So I saw 4.5 was out - It literally reset everyime your open something and I mean anything Bam reset. However I installed the above rooted bleh bleh stock os (I do not have s-off so I used the PH img) I made sure I had no other boot images on there. Installed setup got everything ready. I have gotten 3 resets in 11 mins so far so now I backed up to Clean rom 4.3 and I have no idea what to do.
I also did the following:
Flashed back to STOCK o.s.
Then Downloaded the above linked rom, cleared data (everything) installed software patch and rom reset back up and same problem. I have been flasing rom's on this phone for a while now and this is the first time no matter what that I get these crashes and resets. Did I miss something?
You really should s-off that puppy. It is pretty easy, and will get you out of messes.

I assume you're always wiping data and cache.
Have to tried Fix Permissions? I don't know if this rom has it in it's settings, but using others I've corrected some weirdness by wiping the cache and then running fix permissions.
Were you seeing the same thing with the stock rom? Or just using clean rom? Might try a different rom for a bit to see if the issues follow you there.
S-OFF isn't going to help you with this. It's perfectly fine to flash your boot image outside of Aman-Ra. I do it all the time.
Are you wiping everything between flashes?
I recommend using this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562176&highlight=clean
Flash it first and it wipes the needed partitions clean.
If you're still on the GB firmware, you need to flash the old firmware patch after the rom install also to get SD card access.
If none of the above helps and you're still on the GB firmware, set the phone back to stock using the GB RUU, otherwise you will have to s-off it so you can do the same.
Yep full wipes between flashes. I didn't keep the stock Rom for more than about 20 mins.
I didn't see a way with the debloated stock New leak to fix permissions. But with the 4.5 clean Rom I did that and it made no difference.

[Q] Weird Flashing Issue

I normally don't post unless I've exhausted every other option.
But this issue I am having has completely baffled me, and I really have exhausted every thing I know.
I was going through a rash of flashing roms on my I9300.
After finding an issue downgrading from 4.2.2 back down to 4.1.2. I Odin back to stock... so I though ok lets have another go at it.
However... Every ROM I flash will not boot (ie stuck @ Samsung I9300 screen). The flash goes well, MD5's are all ok, and I made sure to wipe data and cache like I've don't 500 times b4 on a dozen different phones.
I've even tried keeping the stock rom, simply rooted and just flashing another kernel both speedmod and siyah for 4.1.2... no go... no boot. I'm not quite sure what the issue is as it boots just fine on stock.
Any opinions?
Did you do a full wipe?
(Factory reset, Format system, cache, data and preload)
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
Yep, full wipe each time, I even went so far as to format internal SD from CWM, just in case there was anything lingering.
did you try a mega wipe (will erase anything besides ext. sd)?
did you try to run a custom rom with stock kernel (as I understand stock rom & kernel are working?)?
Yep everything has been wiped down to the core.
And yes stock rom runs fine, and boots fine right off of odin, and even after running CF-Root.
I only get this no booting issue when trying to flash any other rom, even ones that I've previously flashed today b4 my first odin back to stock.
It def has something to do with the soft brick I recovered from earlier today, but I'm just not sure how or why, since I wiped everything and re flashed with odin.
Must be missing something tho.
Edit: Will try Flashing UltimaRom again with default setting and stock kernal see if anything changes.
Ok well i'm not really sure what I did, but I wiped everything again, from data to cache, to preload.
Reflashed ultimarom, this time on stock kernel, and whalha! Boot!
Then went back and flashed Siyah 1.8.9, and that booted ok aswell.
Not quite sure what the problem was but it seems to have been fixed.
Maybe phone was just being moody after all the flashes today!
Thanks for your help!
