[Q] Video chatting - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I finally got my HTC Flyer yesterday, but allready have a problem.
In the promotion video's they let us see Skype wich we would be able to use for video chatting. They also told on the MWC event that this version of Skype would be pre-installed...
Actually, none of this is true. I had to install Skype myself and therefor can only use the normal mobile client without video chatting.
Did some of you guys get you Flyer with the right Skype version or did anyone manage to make a video chat one way or another?

Sadly they just lied. There is no skype with video for the Flyer. I believe the only skype with video that works only works for the HTC Thunderbolt.

Same with the Flyer shipped in Europe... Skype was not pre-installed, had to install it my self... I have no video-call functionality :-(

Best thing would be to find the gtalk 1.3 downloader and give it a go, if it doesn't work, it won't work.

Nope, won't work b/c it requires android 2.3.4.
it works half way on my wifes inc2 on 2.3.3
she gets full video and chat i cant see her though

Does Google Videos work in the UK?

Please can someone confirm if GOOGLE VIDEOS SERVICE, is live in the UK,I know it works in the USA, but when I go to the application,all I get is SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE,
I really look forward to some clarification on this,

Hi thanks for the link, but that's not it, Google videos is where you rent or buy the video,you can watch them on your phone,tablet or even your pc, as I said I know this is all good in the USA ,but please if anyone can confirm this is working now in the UK I would appreciate it.it was supposed to launch October 21st or early November, but I can't see that anyone has it working, when i download the app from the android market it installs, and shows the videos and prices, bit has a message SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE, on every film I go to, it sounds like a great service, but finding out if its available is so hard.If anyone has it and is in the UK,please reply.

Hi guys,
To explain, I need to give a customer a answer,he's blaming the company I work for(not England or usa) that its our fault he can't get Google videos to work,my phone is rooted,and its says videos can't show as i have rooted my phone,so then I use other phones,and get the service is not available, the customer says that its all working in the UK,because the telegraph newspaper did a story on it,I have searched on Google for a couple of hours and can't find any proof it works in the UK,as I'm not in the UK i find it hard to get an answer,I use market enabler,and root my phone,and know what I'm doing,iv been with android since day one,I just can't find anything on UK having Google videos working.
I'm also sorry if people are fed up with this thread(I am too) I was expecting to get 3 replies after 20 mins of me posting this in the thread, with people from the UK saying yes works fine here,etc etc, but all i get is that it was supposed to launch Oct 21st.

[Q] Is there any Flyer 3G version of Honeycomb ROM can call phone now ?

My Flyer 3G version is 2.3.4 . It supports GSM phone call, but not support other Handwriting Note app. So I would like to upgrade my flyer Version to Honeycomb and I hope that I still can got GSM phone call.
So... is there any good suggestion ?

Normally HC doesn't (shouldn't) have any issue with GSM, but in our Flyer case GSM is not natively supported neither in GB nor HC.
But I wonder this: If it could be made working on GB, why not the same on HC, considering the fact that most GB programs runs ok under HC?
Essentially the platform itself supports phone call I believe, but I read somewhere that the phone.apk is there but no skin (or wrong skin) for the phone interface.
If you watch this video, someone managed to use honeycomb Flyer to make GSM phone call, but he did not elaborate where he gets the phone.apk with proper skin from.

thats because HC itself doesnt support phone function...
and for that video, i remember if you change the build.prop, the phone will pop up but its still unusable since the video didnt show the speaker and mic working...

I only now that VOIP calls are possible but the same apply for the Flyer.
And: You cannot make gsm calls on honeycomb

[Q] Connect Android phone via bluetooth for calls in cm7

Is it possible to connect your android phone to your touchpad running cm7 via bluetooth and make/receive calls and texts like you can with a webos phone and webos on the touchpad?

For texting there is a program called "Tablet Talk". I really love this app.
As far as calling, I wouldn't recommend pursuing anything yet. There is a known issue with the mic.
