Does anyone has the SMS fix (+ prefix) for the GSM HTC Hero? My incoming messages are shown as +XXXXXXXX and the mobile doesnt recognize the contact, but if I change my contacts to that format it no longer recognizes the incoming local calls.
I was running the Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.3 rom before and I didnt have any problem with the sms app.
I flashed the WildHeroWWE-1.2 rom yesterday and this problem started, I even tried the HeroLatte-0.5 rom but still it was the same. When I flashed the Elelinux rom again the issue was fixed.
I believe this an issue with the sense roms.
I would really appreciate if anyone provide me with a fix for this as I want to stick with the sense roms.
For those who are using the WildHero Rom, this solution was suggested by erasmux
[ Ok, this is the post I found:

If you wish, instead of the adb commands there you try to reboot into recovery and flash this update:

to restore the default sqlite:

Hello,
I have seen a lot of threads talking about sms reliability, but nothing about this, perhaps someone will have a clue.
I noticed I didnt received any sms since one days or more, and someone told me he sent me a sms, then I started to search on google etc. In fact, it seems that when someone send me a sms, the phone seems to wake up (backlight), but nothing happens (no sms notification, no sound, and no sms at all).
Anyone has got this problem ? Something to do with some HTC patch ? If yes, how can I know if my reseller included this patch or not in the stock phone ?
My config (stock):
RADIO 2.07.51.22_2
ROM 1.72.73.3
Protocol 15.32.50.07U
HTC Manila Core 2.5.20121433.0
System 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
NB: Apparently, I checked and I am able to send SMS without trouble. It appears also that after a restart, I can receive some sms (for how long ?), but I never get the missing ones, and impossible to know when the problem occurs...
*bump*
problem reproduced, no clue about how to correct this
if anyone has an idea, please let me know (or an idea to debug this)
perhaps collateral effect of a registry change, or related to CHT ?
I had this problem once ...I flashed the radio in my signature and installed the messaging client from HERE...I'm not sure which one solved the sms problem but right now my phone works brilliantly...Yet to find a convincing enough reason to flash a custom ROM except to get a new look interface.
Before you attempt to flash the radio make sure you read the thread about flashing radio/ROM VERY CAREFULLY.
The messaging client also has specific instructions to install which are detailed in the thread.
Were you able to solve or figure out what the problem was?
i rooted a friends samsung vibrant last night and everything went perfectly. i installed this rom.
now, whenever anyone sends him a picture message, it says something about "a problem with resolution or size restriction."
i've searched xda and come up with people getting blurry mms messages and the fix is to install either the cm6 mms apk or one of a few available. searching on google, everyone has the problem with the iphone and their fix is a package available through cydia.
i've had him check his apn settings and they are the same as seen in post number 7 of this thread. i've had him try using handcent and chompsms instead of the default. i've had him ensure his mobile data is on. the problem still persists.
he can send picture messages just fine. he can receive normal texts just fine.
he really wanted an aosp rom. i stuck with 2.2 so the clockwork 2.5.1.2 backup/restore would work fine.
my questions are these:
should installing a new mms apk fix this issue? does he need different apn settings? should i install a different rom altogether? should i install a newer 2.3 rom? if so, how can i get clockwork 3 installed? (i couldn't find how to do that anywhere either).
sorry this post is so long. thanks for any help.
ended up using odin back to stock then rerooted and reflashed the rom. seems to be working now.

Sup people, this is my first post....I recently flashed the resurrection remix v1.3 ROM with siyah kernel v3.1 and have been experiencing a problem with sending sms messages regardless of messaging app.
When i type the message and hit send my phone keeps losing signal and displays the message :
"Currently cant send your message. It will be sent when the service becomes available".My mobile data is enabled but still no change. How can i solve this problem?
I tried flashing ROM and kernel again but the problem still persists. I am able to receive sms messages but cannot send.
Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Did you try setting your smsc number?
same error on 4.2.2
I have the same error. I noticed this once going to a 4.2.2 Revolt from Jelly verse. I then had baked.... Cm10 .all 4.2.2. Roms are giving me this grief. I've done everything from switching out 'bad' MMS.apk files.. Restoring APN backups with new .XML files for new APN.. Flashing over MMS fix.zip.. I've done it all and still no fix. Even downloaded goSMS and Handsceng SMs.. Applied the segtings aNd no fix. downgraded to Jelly verse... Magic.. Full MMS abilities. But.. I've had a taste of 4.2.2 and would rather dealwwith the pros until hopefully someone finds a fix for this small, yet annoying bug.
Thanks to everyone who already had put their effort into correcting this .

So I went back to Jelly verse (4.1.2) for the sole purpose of pulling the APN XML file while MMS worked. To my surprise.. The backup APN ( using the APN Backup and Restore program mentioned in many MMS fixes) compiled a list of 1346 apns. Saved it to my SD Card. At first.. It seemed promising as I upgraded back to slimbean(any 4.2.2 build for that matter) and downloaded APN B&R .. Gave it system permissions via /system/apps program.. Backed up APNs.. And laughed at the list of 8 APNs it had backed up. nonetheless.. I moved my XML from the 4.1.2 build to the APN folder created from the backup process. Went back to APN B&R and deleted APNs as many times before.. And restored APNs via XML document from 4.1.2 build with 1346 APNs. Rebooted.. Nothing... Flashed MMS fix.zip as stated from various different resources in trying to remedy this error. .. Nothing....

As relevent and/or helpful as that might be as far as a universal diagnosis is concerned, rather than user-to-user, phone-to-phone ,ROM to ROM and carrier to carrier... Whilein jjelly verse I did get prompted to update Samsung software. Considering all failed attempts I went ahead and accepted the Samsung update. Given from my post above.. Obviously this doesn't have any merit towards fixing the issue.... As I'm still not getting MMS data transfer via 4.2.2 ROM.
Any and all info on things I've done I just want to document if it means the betterment of finding and identifying this as a ROM/carrier/phone issue. If not all 3 or just a combination of the 2. Or maybe even a variable and/or file overlooked this entire time.

I've searched high & low for the answer to this...
I've got a 2.3.5 gb build with kernel XWKI8 (& baseband XXXKI3) which works perfectly.
I've made TiBackup & CWM backups so can flip between this 'stable' version & the CM9.
I did a full install of CM9 (full wipe etc) & G.Apps & didn't use TiBackup to install any system data from the gb version.
CM9 all very good but Chomp SMS doesn't seem to work unless Handcent SMS is installed? WTF!
I've installed GoPro SMS & that makes no difference.
I've checked the SMS centre number (O2 (Monthly), +447802000332, 0791448720003023) & updated it via *#*#4636#*#*
FWIW, the Chomp SMS seems to have outgoing SMS' stuck at 'pending' (with 3 dots before the icon).
I've not been receiving SMS either until Handcent was installed & then it all seemed to work OK.
I had a quick play with the stock SMS app & it kept crashing & wouldn't let me try sending a txt from there but would recognise a received txt if Handcent was installed.
I suspect that's where the problem lies but as to how to fix???
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nic

Thanks,
but as I stated in my original post - I have updated the SMSC
and as for 'READ CM INSTRUCTIONS FAQS AND WIKI ..'
Thanks again - believe it or not, I did read the FAQ's & scanned the wiki but that doesn't answer the problem I'm having....
Anyone else got any ideas please?
Thanks
Nic
Anyone?
And not you JJEgan!
I rooted my phone and accidentally deleted the stock mms.apk and i couldnt recieve any messages, i downloaded an upgraded version of the stock mms.apk and i can send and recieve regular sms messages but i cant send or recieve pictures, can anyone help please
I had similar problem after accidentally deleted the calendar.apk, I did try copy this from another device (exactly model and android version) but no success to make the widget work again (no events shown).
I do recommend to reinstall the entire ROM - stock or custom.
I agree with MagusWRM.
I agree with MagusWRM. Re-install the ROM and if it’s still acting up call your Wireless provider and have them check to see if everything is right on their end.

I download handcent and it works... I can't flash a new ROM because there is no software compatible with my phone and there are no drivers for it either
