[Q] help with mms - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my phone and accidentally deleted the stock mms.apk and i couldnt recieve any messages, i downloaded an upgraded version of the stock mms.apk and i can send and recieve regular sms messages but i cant send or recieve pictures, can anyone help please

I had similar problem after accidentally deleted the calendar.apk, I did try copy this from another device (exactly model and android version) but no success to make the widget work again (no events shown).
I do recommend to reinstall the entire ROM - stock or custom.

I agree with MagusWRM.
I agree with MagusWRM. Re-install the ROM and if it’s still acting up call your Wireless provider and have them check to see if everything is right on their end.

I download handcent and it works... I can't flash a new ROM because there is no software compatible with my phone and there are no drivers for it either

i've just updated my mda with the t-mobile update. but i can't get or send sms messages with my phone since...
Does it have to do with the update?
Can someone help me please?
SMS
We've sent and received SMS with the new ROM. Could you describe the problem in more detail? Do the SMS messages just seem to go into a black hole both ways, or does some kind of error happen?
i fixed it already, i just didn't get the messages, and ppl told me they've sent me. but i installed afterwards the sms_fix.cab, and suddenly it works again.
thanx.
sim card holds sms messages
Hi all,
I have a same problem. When people send me a sms, I cant get it from my xda. But if I remove my sim card and use it another regular phone, I see there are lot of sms messages.
What is sms_fix.cab?
If this cab is for show names from sms messages, I have already installed it.
I use XDA-Developers.com special edition rom v 1.1. My boss had got a old bios. I try to upgrade his bios, but he has got still same problem.
My problem have started after new bios. Both of us can send SMS.
ROM Version: 3.17.03 ENG
Radio Version: 4.01
I dont want to hard reset it, because I just finished to install of hundreds of tools also I dont know it will work or not!
What can I do?
Thanks a lottt.
Rom as given but still can't send sms
Hi
My rom version is 3.16.32 ENG, Radio version 4.20.00
I have the phone unlocked with the xda manipulator (now using vodapone) and had received a sms message successfully from a colleague but I just can't send a sms. I clicked on the contact and tap "Send SMS" but it just don't do anything and when I tap on "Send SMS" under the tools menu in the phone , it also don't do anything. I read that someone said caller2picture prevents someone from sending sms. Is this true? Can anything be done to make it work even with that software installed?
Would appreciate any help or advice.
Cheers
Vic

MMS size restriction error

i rooted a friends samsung vibrant last night and everything went perfectly. i installed this rom.
now, whenever anyone sends him a picture message, it says something about "a problem with resolution or size restriction."
i've searched xda and come up with people getting blurry mms messages and the fix is to install either the cm6 mms apk or one of a few available. searching on google, everyone has the problem with the iphone and their fix is a package available through cydia.
i've had him check his apn settings and they are the same as seen in post number 7 of this thread. i've had him try using handcent and chompsms instead of the default. i've had him ensure his mobile data is on. the problem still persists.
he can send picture messages just fine. he can receive normal texts just fine.
he really wanted an aosp rom. i stuck with 2.2 so the clockwork 2.5.1.2 backup/restore would work fine.
my questions are these:
should installing a new mms apk fix this issue? does he need different apn settings? should i install a different rom altogether? should i install a newer 2.3 rom? if so, how can i get clockwork 3 installed? (i couldn't find how to do that anywhere either).
sorry this post is so long. thanks for any help.
ended up using odin back to stock then rerooted and reflashed the rom. seems to be working now.

[Q] Auto retrieve MMS messages SE with walkman

My problem
I use stock rom .58 for my SE with walkman. I rooted it and remove all application I dont need, make CW recovery and all is ok.
I can send MMS , but I dont receive if anybody send MMS to me (I also can send myself, but also dont get it)
Since I was remove default SMS/MMS application and use GO SMS pro in that application says: If you have trouble retrieve MMS in your stock app enable automatic retrieve of MMS. And since I remove stock app how can I do it?
Can I edit some files to enable it?
Or if somebody know, where that can be enabled in stock rom?
Give me path , thanks!
u dont make any backup before removes apps?
NO, I test my mobile phone, everything is looks ok, so I delete backup. So can you help me , or just reply to make criticism?

[Q] Completely lost SMS functionality

Hi,
I am running standard Samsung ROM on my S3. Last night installed a new Firmware Update pushed OTA. Since then I have completely lost all SMS functionality and even any trace of the SMS function. The 'Messaging' icon does not exist anywhere and when I 'swipe left' on a contact to send a message the only option that comes up is to use Skype or WhatsApp. In the call log there are the numbers of which I have received an SMS from, but touching that I get to a log with a little blue envelope and I cannot see the message. The only way I have managed to find the actual SMS are using the app 'SMS Backup & Restore', that one finds them in the backup, but no other way available.
Anyone else came across this problem? Is there a way I can downgrade my firmware to previous version? (I do not have a full backup available, and to be honest, not quite sure how to backup 'everything' when I am not rooted)
Model: GT-9300
Android: 4.1.2
Baseband: I9300XXELLA
Kernel: 3.0.31-1276773

Thanks for any comments!

flash the offcial 4.2.2 via odin and you wiil be fine you dont lose anything
If you were rooted, you could extract the required SMS .apk from a stock ROM zip and install that.
As a temporary workaround, you can try to use an app like GO SMS.
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! I have worked the problem this weekend and eventually got functionalities back through 'Firmware Installation' in Kies. I will look further at Odin though as well. Sounds an interesting option. Thanks for that tip too!

Can't Choose Stock MMS on NK1?

I'm running stock NK1 rooted with Xposed framework installed, and it's been running fine aside from phone calls still being silent receiving and making occasionally, but just recently I list the ability to send texts using the stock MMS apk. I tried to go into Settings/More Networks and change the default to the stock Messaging apk, but Titanium is the only option. Same thing with Settings/Default Applications, only Titanium is available. Installing other SMS apps works, but nothing I do will let me choose the stock messaging app. I've tried overwriting the original with a copy of the original, turning the app off then back on again, but no luck. Permissions are correct and everything looks fine, but it will not work. Anyone seen this before?
