Well if you are using comm rom got to tsm parts dial code hidden menu and you can change one of the settings from hybrid to 1x or 3g only

Activate it over the phone with Verizon, it was like that for me when I first got my Fascinate and tried to switch numbers.

I just did a *228 option 1 and 2 and it took no problem. You are probably just experiencing a tower issue.

Yeah.. No problem with your rom and/or root i'd say. You do have an appropriate radio, right? Dl09 or eb01.

Look under settings/about phone and look at the baseband version.
If you can text and/or use WiFi there is nothing wrong with your radio.

Ok, so it says eb01. Still can't use*228. Id like to change my number, but I'm scared to try cause my phone won't program. Any suggestions?

If this is a issue I would flash back to stock and then change your number but before you do so I would make a complete backup file on my computer or sd card that way you can simply return your phone to previous .
Is there a mod out there that will change my notification drop down to have all of the power tools like the Samsung Captivate? I am not a fan of having to use widget space for something that should be standard to the OS. Thanks in advance for your response.

it may be turned off. But by default it puts the phone into desktop clock mode.
Ah that explains it I deleted the clock app using the stock clock from CM so I can use set alarm voice command
