[Q] Metal Gear Solid - PSX Emulator - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

Hey,
I currently have a PSX emulator installed on my Atrix and I expected it to run Metal Gear fine, in fact I have seen videos of it running perfectly...so what am I doing wrong
I've downloaded the game, got a BIOS and it plays at 50 fps, BUT it loads every second, literally, it pops up with the little symbol showing that its reading the disc, then plays a little bit really smooth and then loads again.
Just wondering what people have done to get it running smooth.
Thank You

Where did you get the rom and BIOS for it?

I couldnt tell you, but if you could perhaps link or tell me how to navigate through google

What PSX emulator do you have? It sounds like it is either the BIOS file or just the app itself. Try a different emulator.

Sounds like a setting or the BIOS. Like the others said test it with another emulator too.

While I haven't tried it at all, it could be a memory speed issue. I noticed the internal Atrix storage writes at about 1 MB/s, so it probably reads around 2, whereas a psx disc is like, 10-15?

No, I don't think it's that. It works fine on any emu I play it on... I've used much slower devices with no trouble at all.

Where can I get roms/bios for ffvii?

What do I do with this .bin file? I tried extracting it & just opening as an archive
The bin file is the playstation bios for the emulator, you put it in one of the folders for the emulator to run.
Although the bios itself is generally considered to be warez.
I am going to try out Gran Turismo 1*2 muhahaha
Can any one help me find or send me roms for this please? The only ones I have found are zip and don't seem to work..

Guys I recommend trying Road Rash it's one those gems that can be played with touchscreen controls, I've been playing the Genesis version on my Hero and it works really well ,but it pales in comparison to the to the Playstation game which IMO was the pinnacle of the series, Heck I still play it on my Pc sometimes, probably my favorite racing game.
perhaps the release of this emulator will spark interest in my thread regarding whether or not there are bluetooth 3.0 capable controllers for our phone since the wiimote app wont work on our phones =/
this might be pretty cool...
Does any one know what extension this uses for games?
I have found multiple roms but none of them seem to work.
Some .zip,.tar,.z7,.z2
Any help.

unzip it. and it should work
I played Bloody Roar on the PSX Emulator and I can say it's pretty good. The only problem is that it runs quite slow, no lag however.
X2. I can confirm it also running slow with gran turismo. Still fun and playable nonetheless

yeah it works! Currently I tried, Silent Hill, Gran Turismo 2, and Final Fantasy 7.
They all work. Except there is some artifact on your character in Silent Hill, it's not that disruptive. I thought GT2 was running a little slow but when I look at the time/timer during the race, the number seems to move at a very smooth [normal] rate. Is the game originally this slow?
ps - will try Metal Gear Solid & Super Puzzle Fighter right now. will let you know

Not sure why, but this is the only app I've ever tried to purchase that says Authorizing.....................................................
I guess maybe I'm not allowed to try this one huh?
5 retires and a reboot and I've gotten no where.
okay, so far this worked
Gran Turismo 2
Final Fantasy 7
Silent Hill
SUPER PUZZLE FIGHTER 2 TURBO
Does not work
Metal Gear Solid - at least with the default options, maybe have to tweak it a littlebit.
problem installing
ok i dont understand how to install the rom. i looked for psx iso roms from google, download and install sdcard. i click on psx4droid to open then scph1001.bin and after that screens goes black. what am i doing wrong. please help
Final Fantasy 9 seems to be working, but the FMVs have no sound. Its strange as FF7's FMVs play fine w/ sound.
FF7 and Crash Bandicoot work great though. Cant wait to see where this goes, w/ some work and updates Thanks!

how is sound on all the green games up there?
If there in green it means they play just like they did: ) if there blue it mean they run but might be slow or crap sound, Red just don't work. GREEN I would say run at full 30fps cos its just so good ill up date more tomorrow.

haha this is great!
I've just been playing Colin McRae 2.0 on my Streak. Bananas!
Admittedly it's only JUST playable and you can't use the in car view really but the view showing the bonnet works well enough. Didn't check the framerate (can you?) but i'd estimate maybe 20ish? It responds to input well enough at least. CMR 2.0 used to push the limits of the actual Playstation so it's quite impressive seeing it running on a mobile device
btw screen refresh rate worked best at 30 and scaling set to 2x
looking forward to trying more stuff out with this! My Streak gets better by the day at present!

Screen to small

I installed the cyanogen froyo CM 6 for like a week ago. And recently i noticed that the screen is way to small for some games, so i can't see everything in the game that i am suppost to see. This makes the games pretty much unplayable. I don't know if it has something with the rom to do or what it is, i would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance!

It is the game's "fault". It was designed/coded to run on a qVGA screen. That's why you're not seeing everything.
EDIT: BTW, what game is it you're playing? I might be wrong depending on the game.
Try the snes emulator, snesoid, works perfect.
Yes, device it's small, that's why you bought your device, isn't it ?
Well the game was fine before i installed the rom. The game is Airport mania: First flight.
EDIT: Same thing with Pets: LIVE, but didnt't test the game before i installed the rom so i don't know if it's the roms fault.

Running Farmville @ Decent Speed

I am currently using the Evo 3D. I am curious why the default Android browser has so much trouble running Farmville at a decent speed and what the problem is related to. I was thinking that it might have something to do with a lack of hardware acceleration, but I was certain that it is now enabled on this device. Could someone help me?
I think the problem is..... you play Farmville
have you tried other browsers?
Try opera browser maybe. I think it has hardware acceleration
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Farmville has horrible coding and barely runs on some computers. Expecting it to run perfect on a cell phone is asking a bit much.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Yeah, but if you want to look at it from a Android VS Apple equation, consider that iPhones run it through a buggy app, where we are closer to the original experience from our flash enabled browsers alone. Understanding this is a good first step to making optimization for Android from the developers irrelevant.
I have tried the default browser, which is the one that I have found comes closest, but is seconds slow behind user input. The Opera browser has problems related to its use of flash, and the game window will not even appear. I mainly use the Dolphin HD browser. Even when trying to force a desktop view, the screen says that the page is unable to be formatted for my device.
I have considered that is is a poorly coded game, and if so, there is indeed very little we can do about it. Thanks for the tip.
I thought I saw an app for Farmville once? Perhaps it was pulled or just a "clone" - I don't play Farmville, so I didn't pay attention...but have you looked for an actual app that ties into your account?
No. There is a similar game released in the Android market, but Zynga themselves have said for over a year that they were working on an app for us.

HTC Media Link HD ---> TV gaming

I am curious if this would work...
With the htc media link hd found here, would it be possible to open a NES, SNES, or other emulator or game/app and use the three fingers up gesture to display the game/app on the tv.
I am not really sure if the app itself has to have the capabilities to do this, or if HTC thought out of the box and made it so that the phone mirrors what is on the screen at any given time.
Ideas?
If I am able to do this, then I just fell that much more in love with my phone again.
Re: HTC Media Link HD ---> TV gaming
Try?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
i have the medialink, and it completely mirrors the screen so anything thats on the phone will display. The problem is that there is enough lag that if you tried to play something simple like mario you would almost always miss your jumps. RPG should be ok, but action games would be frustrating. The best option is still to wire it up via MHL and then use a bluetooth controller.
The three fingers gesture isn't the only way to get it to link, when it detects a medialink on the network or in the area when you're not connected to wifi there will be a notification that you can use to get them to talk.
Lastly, if you're gonna drop the $75+ to get a medialink, you might as well get an ouya when it comes out and just run emulators off that.
Re: HTC Media Link HD ---> TV gaming
Yea I thought about the ouya today. From what I read though, the lag disappears after a moment and the connectivity stabilizers. Is that right? I haven't looking into the mhl or whatever yet. I will look into it too. Thanks for all your info !

Unfortunately not, there is always a tiny bit of latency, maybe half of or a quarter of a second. It never goes away.
Check this out, about the Ouya

I can confirm this. It definitely has lag very small but sucks on games like sonic, Mario, or even apps like Raiden. However its terrific for everything else and makes your TV become your phone. I have even used my zeemote as a mouse.

If you have the Media Link HD then it should be pretty self explanatory to you. Everything on your phone's display gets mirrored to your TV, it's pretty simple... Once you're connected, just launch the game, and see if it's playable with the lag or not. I use mine for watching Droid TV PrimeTime a LOT, but I've never tried a game before. For Android gaming I just hook up my Asus Infinity using the mini-HDMI port built in to the side of the tablet, and play using the Sixaxis app and one of my PS3 controllers. Love it!!!
