I have been using the franco.Kernel from the first release..... And lately I've been having a couple of problems.
The first problem is with random crashes. This occur when I'm playing a game or browsing. I didn't experience this problem before and I have the phone for 6 months now.
I've OC'd the CPU to 787/245 MHz with Smartass governor. The problem is recent (since v11 onwards). Although v13h was stable under heavy usage. I've tried other kernels, re-flashed the ROM (void.ECHO) and the problems never occurred. It seems that it has something to do with Franco's Kernel. On DookMatt's kernel I was even able to keep the phone stable on 806 Mhz using performance governor; tried just to make sure it wasn't a hardware problem.
The other problem with the kernel since v12 is during file transfer on USB storage mode. The files take a long time to copy on to the SDcard and the Writing/Pasting speed drops to 0 kB/s and again speeds up. Then slows down again, speeds up again and so on.
I've tried transferring files using a standalone USB card reader. On another phone, different ROMs and kernels and it seems that the problem is with the kernel.
I could've posted this on the Franco.Kernel thread but it seems that I can't cause I don't have 10 posts yet.
I'm not a n00b and neither am I a genius. So before anyone points out that it's this or it's that, I've told you about what I've tried and what I've found.
Don't get me wrong, I love the work that Francisco has put into making the Kernel and I really appreciate the time and effort he's put into it. Also I love the constant updates he releases to make our phones ever more faster and responsive. This is just a little problem/bug I found and would really love if Francisco would solve it on the next release.
If anyone have this problem or could help me with this, then I'll be very grateful. And if anyone could post this on Franco's thread then may be he'd help us out.
I would say the problem might be 787 oc. When you say the phone was stable at 806 MHz in other roms does it mean that it was stable at standby? Or were you able to play heavy games at 806 MHz? Try reducing the OC.
As for the fluctuating sd card speeds, I have noticed this happening with all the roms I've used, don't know why you are facing this in franco kernel only.
748 MHz is ur answer
Yup... I've played NOVA and Assassin's Creed on 806 MHz on DookMatt kernel....
And also the stuttering while writing onto the SD card has only been experienced since v12 of Franco's kernel.
I hope he fixes it..... because it takes ages to copy stuff onto it.
The random crashes during gaming have disappeared since installing ChainFire 3D drivers.... It's also increased the performance quite a bit!!!

This is the Market Link................ https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.cf3d&feature=search_result
As for the original thread from Chainfire himself....... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427
He does say that it requires Open GL ES2.0 and in my testing the Electopia Benchmark which makes use of Open GL "PROPERLY" does work on P500.
My benchmark scores on 729/245 MHz is 17 FPS on 320*480. Chainfire doesn't increase this score, but the use of QUALCOMM (ATI) plug-in does increase real world performance in games such as NOVA and Assassin's creed. By this I mean that they render more smoothly, which otherwise would be stuttering.
The Link to the API for the plug-ins is........... http://www.mediafire.com/?bit1zhjplxygh4g I've attached it on my post as well!!
BTW.... Thanks for all the effort Francisco. Appreciate all the work.

I just bought an Optimus One and I'm not satisfied with the game performance.
Fifa 2010 runs fine, but with any tap on the screen it slows down and drops framerate drastically.
Is this some problem with my phone or does everyone experience this? Also, any luck running NFS Shift and such games?
EDIT: Just read about some 'touchscreen lag fix kernal'. Any more info on that?
NFS shift runing perfect for me.
Actually any game I've tried till now (even HD ones, the ones I manage to run...) is working perfectly with no lag nor slow fps.
But you have to mod the O1 a bit (custom recovery, modded kernel, hw acc + jit enabled, CPU overclock).
Does anyone know if the stagefright player has anything to do with game performance too?

Yes you just need z4root to root your phone.
It's always reversible, so no way you could worry about it
to get the best out of your phone, you can use custom kernels and roms +OC
the touchscreenlagfix kernel solves your problem about the cpu usage/framerate drop. Before, 3D/HD games that requires touch/d-pad was almost unplayable because of the sudden drop of framerate+lag.
it was a big BUG back then but now we are lucky that someone was able to fix it and now games like Hawkx, Nova, gtracing(games that requires touch) works Good on my phone.
NFS shift actually works fine even on stock rom w/o any MOd.
there are lots of guides in here discussing about the touchscreen lagfix kernel so you should try it if you want a better gamign experience on Lg optimus one.
I'm still wondering though...
Does anyone know if the stagefright player has anything to do with game performance?

Horrible official dev ( Sony erricson ) support . Officially the device bearly received in mid novembre Android 2.1 .... GPU drivers and optimization are pretty mediocre compared to O1 . It also has a smaller screen . It has only 3" opposed 3.2" that the O1 has .
Also O1 already has an ETA for official gingerbread ( end of may supposedly if something else doesn't occur. But either way it will get ginger 100% sure )
And I want to tell you one more thing . With andy's build 2.3.2 gingerbread ( a mix of aurora and CM7 ) he brought a ton of performance to the device .
Last night I tried Dungeon Defenders , which is a beast of a game ( really resource hungry ) and it finally works out great even without OC . As soon as andy releases the augmented kernel with OC I think , O1 performance will be almost on par with SGS.
LE: Also now I saw but the X8 has a pitiful ammount of RAM . O1 has 512 ( 418 RAM available to use ) and X8 bearly has 168 RAM . And believe me it counts . On internet browsers you're going to have a horrible experience.
i use my friends Sony Ericsson XPeria x8 and my LG O1 play angry birds same stage
my friends using 2.1 official rom and me using 2.2.1 stock rom
*both also using stock microsd
how come my friends oni lag awhile in angry birds ?
friends,
do we hav to overclock to fix the lag..?
or only the mod kernel will do..?
does overclocking heats the phone or any other damage to cpu..?

hello, it is not necessary to overclocking your optimus one but in a purpose of better gaming experience in your optimus one, then i think you should.
there is two things you need to install/flash to your O1 basically to improve your phone performance. custom ROM and a Kernel. i recommend flashing Megatron rom, and mostly people using Void rom. and i recommend Mik_os Kernel. mik_os kernel will solve all your "lag when hold screen" problem in your O1.
No, overclocking will not heats your phone, yes maybe it does, but just a little bit and will not harm your phone. and no it will not damage our phone CPU.
i currently using megatron rom with mik_os kernel, and its all working very well. gaming experience in my O1 are fantastic. with megatron rom, your phone CPU will automatically set to 728mhz (not sure, check this in the megatron thread).
heres the link for megatron rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870640
mik_os kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929941
before you will be able to flash this, you need to succesfully install this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844483
its a custom recovery where you later can flash the megatron rom and mik os kernel. before you do flashing, i recommend to backup your sd card and things. goodluck

If you overclock and use the mod kernel, you will get the best out of the gaming experience. Don't worry about OC issue, as 700-720mhz most of the members are using this and no issues have been reported as of now. Also, the OC depends on the hardware modification and each phone has its own maximum OC limit.
If you feel OC is overheating your phone, revert it. Isn't that simple ?
Well, it's a budget phone (and a damn good one at that), so of course it's not going to run everything perfectly. If you're going to use custom rom's and overclock, please read about the subject well beforehand, ok? It can go terribly wrong, and it does sometimes cause problems.
And the claim about no problems is very false. Both overclocking, and installing a custom rom can cause random reboots, application force closes and hangs among with other problems. So please read into it, and be prepared to revert in case something goes wrong. Overclocking will also most certainly reduce the life cycle of your phone.

True, but who's gonna keep this phone for mare than 2-3 years? Also, most of the time the CPU is idle @245 MHz...
I overclocked mine to 768MHZ its stable. I have a p500h (same thing as the p500 I think)
I have miui le 5.1 with glitch v12 and i tried all 3 versions of it but cant oc past 1500 everytime i goto 1600-1700 it freezes or i get a black screen
any help?
That's not unusual at all. Most Galaxy S phones are unstable past 1440, much less 1600 and above. I can't get past 1300mhz unless I'm using Glitch ML.
If you followed the instructions in the Glitch Kernel developer thread, specifically with attempting to undervolt for stability, and you still can't get anything over 1500mhz stable, then it's likely your CPU isn't capable of being stable above 1500mhz. Heck, I can't get 1500mhz stable myself, but I can get 1400mhz stable with 75uv to boot.
Just out of curiosity, but why do you want to Overclock that far? Can't imagine any games built for the Galaxy S would lag above 1ghz. Just want to see if you can, perhaps?
Consider yourself lucky. Oh, and drinks are on the house!
thanks! i got 1600 stable its just i want to play ff8 on psx4droid and everything is perfect but it lags at certain spots but thanks soo much for your reply! its truly appreciated
Bah! Forget using a PSX Emulator on your phone. Do what I did when I played FF8 for the first time. Plug your computer into your TV, plug a Logitech Rumblepad 2 into your computer, load up the emulator with all the enhancing effects like Shaders and HQ4, set up a quicksave and quickload button, and go to town
So, I've rooted my phone a couple weeks ago and I've been messing around with different roms and kernels and I thought the reason my phone was crashing at above 748mhz was because of the kernel or rom I had. I've been reading around though and I read that some phones simply can't OC stably like others. Does this mean if my phone crashes a ton at 806mhz and quite a bit at 768mhz that my phone simply can't OC that high? Are there methods to improve my phones OC stability?
Yes that means your phone can't handle that high clocked speeds. Just keep trying to find a stable clock speed. You will probably not find a big difference between 748 or 806.
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA App
There are no methods to improve OC stability (AFAIK ). Don't try to OC more than what ur phone can handle.
You can always try other tips from our forum to make ur phone more responsive

Hey All
I recently downloaded Gta III From the market But there is significant Lag
(I am using Cm7 With Full Oc)
But I have seen videos on youtube Of people playing Gta III on their Optimus one.
I Have heard Of a Gta version where it doesn't lag But the graphics are bad
Could i PLEASE have a download link for Gta III one that dosnt Lag (i dont care if the graphics are Bad)
GTAIII Optimization
There's two ways I can think of making it run smoother.
1. Chainfire3D. It's a root app, found in the market, whose sole purpose is to enable games on devices that wouldn't normally be able to play them. You have to buy it to unlock everything, but I've been able to use the free version on my Moto Droid to play GTAIII better.
2. Delete the audio folder. Once you have everything downloaded, manually delete the audio folder. If the phone isn't constantly trying to play music or SFX, it will run a bit quicker.
The specific apk isn't going to matter, unless rockstar made huge optimizations to code in recent versions, but as you've DLed from the market, that shouldn't matter, no? Overall, I'd recommend against trying to run it. The optimus isn't really made to handle 3D games in general, much less GTAIII. Good luck, though.

your rom have overclock? that could help. try to put over 700 mhz in perfomance governor

No.
Maybe a little bit. But nothing will be damaged. Don`t worry, the only thing you can have, is reboot.
Here ya go buddy:

or here direct link: http://andropediaapps.blogspot.com/2012/01/gta-iii-gta3-apk-full-sd-data-finally.html
Go there, download game that is around 70-90MB, and apk, and do the same what you did with original!
Graphics are pretty bad in this one, and there is often a bug where you will after 20m in front of yourself see only some pink wall, and ofc no sound...
But runs better, still lagged pretty much on mik_os 6.5.7 but now will test it in PerfectPeso2.2 and see how it is. With full game, on PerfectPeso, it didn't lagged so much like on the rest of the ROMs so I expect this one to run smootly now...
And yeah, just overclock it until kernel starts to reboot, i got mine stable on 825Mhz, on 844 it runs about 1 hour, and on 864 it got nearly 10min in mik_os 6.5.7, but now on PerfectPeso there is no option to go beyond 806mhz...:/ But still frikin fast!
UPDATE: yeah on PerfectPeso2.2 fresh installed no tweaks ripped version will run almost lagless, 15-25fps, but totaly playable! And no pink wall bug anymore!!!
Tried this game a while back and the result was the same... The lag made the game unplayable..
Tested it on CM7. PerfectPeso2.2 sound's good from what you say, but will not change the rom just for a game .
I've looked around and can't find any info at all,
I play Gangstar Rio City Of Saints on my sgs2 but I experiance a lot of lag issues.
I'm hoping over-clocking/ changing cpu/gpu settings could eradicate this only ExTweaks has no instructions whatsoever and I don't want to make any n00b mistakes.
Can someone tell me how to optimize my phone for high-end gaming please?

This high end gaming should be, if your device is supported, possible without any lags and without OC. You have a rom with Siyah at this moment?

Yes, I'm on DiLiDroiD UHLPS, 3.0.15-Siyah-s2-v4.1.5+
thanks for your reply
I'm sorry, wouldn't know any other suggestions than to try this game with another (newer) rom and a upgraded Siyah version, and see if the problem still exists. OC shouldn't be necessary in my opinion.
Why don't you make a Nandroid back up and flash another rom to try?

I'm limited to what Roms I can use because I use Jkay Deluxe Settings, this app is a must for me.... while your here, could you advise me how to overclock safely(ish)
It all looks foreign to me, GPU FREQ STEP1- 100Mhz.......??? ExTweaks really should have a guide of some sort, ANY SORT!
Thanks again for reply

I had the same problem you have with the browser app, it was really lagging when I clicked on a link, always took at least a few seconds to load the page. So I went onto ExTweaks and OC'd my CPU to 1600mhz and my GPU to all the highest settings, it didn't make any difference to my browser but now if I'm ever stranded in the Arctic I can use my phone to melt ice into water, for about 15 minutes before the batter dies that is.
Gta gangstar rio city is a poorly optimized game..so it will lag no matter what
So dont bother about this game..
I have also been struggling with finding rom/kernel combo for best gaming performance..and none of the users actually help here as they just want to underclock their s2 and have long batterry life and flaunt their s2..thats it!!!
for getting better fps..i would suggest using ondemand governer..and use 500-1400 mhz scaling on CPU and set your gpu to like 200-267-400 and set low thresholds..But beware this is for serious gaming only lol and will drain your battery pretty good..but u will get a fps boost of about 6-7. A slightly pretty lower setting is : cpu scaling same and set gpu to 200-267..with ondemand governer..this is also gives you a good gaming performance
also..download nenamark 2 and let me know what fps u get with siyah 4 kernel and note the settings in extweak used..im also thinking of switching from siyah 3.5 to 4 but got no time to test lol

From my experience in general, only a few apps tend to overheat my sg2 (overclocked to only 1.4 Ghz though).
