A shout out to anyone with suggestions:
My VX6800 is no longer recognized by any PC with the USB cable. Running DCD3.2.6 and it was syncing fine.....then got interesed in trying Win Mo 6.5 and noticed that my USB port on my unit is not recognized my my operating system at all. Plug it in and nothing, no windows ding nothing. Tried it on XP and Vista machines. Have searched the net and have tried the following:
a. both selecting and deselecting "enable advanced network functionality"
- with soft reset each time
b. wiped out everything with a hard reset and clean system and the
same.....nothing.
c. one suggestion I have not tryied is using my headphone adapter
between my PC and 6800 (it is at home and I'm out of town)
There was a post about someone with same problem and it turned out to be a faulty pin on their 6800. My questions are:
1. Is there anything else I could try?
2. If I take it into Verizon to check if it is faulty do I have to return to stock?
3. Can I return to stock without USB connection?
-I have done it many times with USB, just not sure if miniSD method
can get me to stock.
Please help....stuck ...looking strongly at the HTC touch pro or what ever verizon is calling it.
Addendum: The cord does charge the unit with USB connection.
Thanks in advance
To avoid the problem of going back to stock vzw, I will buy a new data cable form vzw and test myself.
Does anyone know if the data cable for the touch pro has the same connector and pin out as the Titan?
Since they are discontinuing theTitan the stock on cable could be minimal.
Redownload and install Windows Mobile Device Center (mobile sync) for whatever OS you are running, and install it. I get that problem from time to time, and this always has fixed it for me.
Thanks for the reply,
Sorry, I should have included that. Completely uninstalled and installed twice with no change. Again it is not a problem with software...seams to be a hardware issue since windows itself does not see the Titan.

Cable is a standard cable with mini-usb connector - available many places. Try that first. If you're not getting the USB registration beep, almost certainly a hardware problem.
If registering but not syncing, also try deleting existing partnerships.
When uninstalling MSDC and reinstalling, make sure to reboot first before reinstalling.
Hope some of this helps.

Thanks...just confirming what I was worried about. The wiki does cover flashing to stock rom with SD but if it locks up... I am in trouble.
here goes nothing....
That sounds like my phone and im sorry to say i think ur USB port is the culprit i think its a common occurrence on these phones as the USB port on it seees so much usage that it kind of loosens from its soldering joints initially it shows up as random disconnections when u move ur phone while its connected to ur comp then lastly it just stops working period no charging and no connection at all .
You can try the software fixes as if they work great for you but sorrry to say i doubt it.
hi all,
im using koasfroyo 2.2 v35-1. all of a sudden cant mount when i plug into computer, been researching like crazy and found something i want to try but cant find the setting on my phone. "go to Settings>>Connect to PC and verify Default connection type " dont have connect to pc under my settings menu anywhere!
anyone know where the default connection type is located in this rom?
thanks
Does the icon show in the notification bar that the usb is connected? If so, what I would try is using a widget to connect the usb and see if that works. Your Power Control Widget will have this settings and you should have this as it is a part of the Settings app. Just long press on your home screen and open the widget from there. If that doesn't work, then there might be a bigger issue we need to track down.
nothing is in the notification bar, went to a friends house today and plugged it in his computer with his cable and my cable and still nothing, just charges the phone. i wonder if last time it worked (2 days ago) i didnt unmount before i pulled out usb cord, i normally unmount before i unplug. could that cause a problem, the one thing i havent done yet is format my sd card. tried 6 different computers since it happened, same result on all.
Hmm. I actually had the same thing happen to me and I was freaking out. I used another USB cord and it worked fine. I'm not sure what happened to it, whether it got pinched, cut it with something accidently, or rolled over it with my desk chair, but yea, that was it. I would REALLY be surprised it if had anything to deal with the unmounting it just by unplugging it. I've done that more times than I could even remember. Multiple times a day for months and have never had any issues, or have heard of others. So, try the cord thing next. It's always best to eliminate problems by going through the easy and obvious things first.
Have you ever use wired tethering or just have the app? This has been known to cause the computer recognition not to work. If you have recently use wired tethering try rebooting. If you just have the app installed remove it and try to connect.
Yeah, try using another USB cord. The one that came with my phone stopped working at some point (I would physically connect it and nothing would happen.) I tried a few other cords until I found one that works. Good Luck!
Ok will try another cord tomorrow. Actually I tethered for the first time ever on Saturday night, just seeing how it worked with ubuntu. I used easy tether lite. That was the last time phone worked plugged in. Tether worked great, unplugged and moved my computer into the garage, since then hasn't mounted. But before I started this post I wiped dev & data and reinstalled v 35-1 but didn't clean my SD card.

Since you have rebooted, and haven't mentioned wired tether app for root I don't think what i proposed is the problem. I have also had the same result from different usb cables as said above so hopefully that will remedy your situation.

I think your phone usb connection might be to blame not the cable. Try moving the usb end while its plugged into the phone (up, down, left, right) to see if it clears the issue.
I has the same problem a few times after tethering but if you reboot phone and computer this should work of its not a wire problem. Also what apps do you have running on the computer when trying to mount... IE... earlier tendering programs or HTC sync

Hey guys, thanks for dropping by.
I have a very wierd problem, that I just cant figure out.
It all started the other day, when I found my tablet dead after having been left on and charging during the night. The tab was dead, and I feared the worst. After having left it on what seems to me like a trickle charge for several hours, I managed to get it up and running, and the tab seems fine, it was just completely out of juice.
But my troubles are not over. Whenever I'd connect the tab to the wall charger, I'd only get the red "X" symbol in the corner, and it would say MTP Initialize, even though its plugged into the standard OEM wall charger that comes with.
When I connect the tablet to my computer using the same cable, nothing happens, and by that I mean nothing. Computer doesn't start the connection process at all, its not recognized in the device manager, nothing. Not even Odin can see the tablet when I put it in download mode, the tab keeps saying "Waitting USB Cable..."
Tried this on 2 computers, still no luck, even using a USB plug on the motherboard instead of front-usb.
Now, the tablet will "trickle charge" from both the wall charger, and the computer, but nothing else happens.
I figured it could've been the ROM, so I got the latest ICS Kanang ROM downloaded, transferred it to my tab using Bluetooth, and flashed this without hassle, but the problem still persists, only now showing a regular charge icon in the lower right section, but it is still only trickle charging as far as I can tell.
All I can figure is a defective USB cable, or even worse, defective port on the tablet itself, but I'm not sure. I've ordered a new cable from DealExtreme, that will hopefully arrive sooner rather than later.
But seeing as the tab is hardly 4-5 weeks old, I find it difficult to believe the cable is the problem.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm all out at this point, so any pointers is very appreciated. Thanks.
It could be the cable. It's the part you have used in each situation. I'd wait for the cable to arrive and test it with the tablet when you get it.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I really really hope this is the case, time will tell, DealExtreme is not the quickest dealer. I'll update when I get it.
The new cable came from DX, but I'm afraid it showed no difference on anything.
The cable is working just as the original one, so that's not the problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
I guess my main goal at the moment is flashing it back to stock and un-rooting so I can get it repaired.
You mind posting a screenshot, it's kinda hard to imagine what you see by what you read For all I know my imagination went from a red X to the corner to something like an X off battousai's face.
Then again, I'd be glad to help, provided you post screenies, would be a major help
Ah, yes, I will take screenshots of anything you want to see.
Right now im on ICS preview, and these are some snapshots WITH the cable connected.
The red "X" I'm talking about you can see on the first picture on the charging icon, this happened even when the wall charger was connected on gingerbread/overcome experience rom.
The other pictures you can see it says discharging. Now, this was taken when connected to the computer, and I guess that's normal, but it also happens exactly the same when connected to the wall charger that came with the unit.
If you want screenshots of anything else, ill get it asap!
I took a poorly image of the tab connected via USB, to my computer with Odin open, hopefully you can see what it says.
If not its just what happens, I don't get further.
By the screenshots, Is the language Swedish?
Then again thanks for providing the screenies
In your first screenshot that could be part of the theme, or was it never there previously? I don't really know if it's not charging or that's supposed to be the charging icon, because for some odd reason on ICS preview I don't see that red icon anywhere.
As for the tablet, the reason why you aren't detecting it seems as though you don't have the drivers on the PC, I don't know if you installed them or you didn't mention it because I never found it being mentioned in your reply. I know it sounds silly but the same thing happened to me when I was using the tablet, (originally my 3G series belonged to my dad who knew nothing about modding so he just gave it to me and said, "do your thing" ) He did also forget to mention that you require to have the drivers to detect it via Device Manager and MTP in general, shortly the COM port will show up aswell. Perhaps re-installing the drivers should do the trick?
Made me wonder how did you install ICS in the first place if you weren't able to have it read? But I realized you could have downloaded the zip file via the tablet, On another note, how did you install CWM in the first place? o.o
Hehe, almost! Its in Norwegian on the honeycomb picture.
The red "X" would show up whenever i was connected to the PC via USB, to indicate its not charging. It will however "trickle" charge, and take 24h to charge fully with no usage and turned off.
Yes, the red icon is not on ICS, it just says not charging in the about page, as you can see from the screenshot.
Drivers have been reinstalled two or three times on two different PC's, I don't believe this is the issue.
When I bought the unit, it was working 100%
USB was okay, I flashed and rooted the unit over to "Overcome Experience".
From there I transferred ICS preview via Bluetooth and installed that way.
Have you tried factory reset to make sure all modules are reset? Maybe the USB charge module in Overcome is conflicting.
Yes.
Factory reset 3-4 times on the two different roms. I've reset everything I could find, without success.
Perhaps it has gone faulty with the tablet's plug in port, someone had the same issue although it was his wire that was at fault, it detects the charge via USB but not enough volt's to be detected by the PC, has it been grounded? Seem's more likely :| Might have to get it checked in your local center perhaps, It's how I mentioned that any metallic object is able to relay electricity despite being broken or not, you may have a broken pin for all I know :|
Hi,
I'm having exactly the same issue with my 1 month old tab 7+. I tested it using my bosses charge cable and there is no issue so I need to go to the service centre for a warranty replacement on the cable.
Hope you sort out your issue soon!
Thanks, but I don't think I have any other choice to deliver it to Samsung Europe as a payable service to get it fixed.
Purchased on a American store, and I doubt they'll take it back with flashed software.
I'm not sure really, I'll see what I end up doing. Its not the cable, that's for sure.
I managed to soft brick my wife's Vibrant while trying to put it back to stock ROM: basically I get the "Phone -- Yellow exclmation -- PC". The volume up, down and power combo doesn't work.
In addition, to make things worse, if I plug it into the PC it gets power but the PC doesn't recognize the USB, so I can't use any type of soft unbrick software.
Should I give a try to the USB jig to get into download mode or, do you guys think the USB port is faulty... I know it's kind of hard to know, but I'm primarily curious to see if anyone got in a similar situation with soft brick and no USB connectivity and was able to solve it with the jig...
Thanks!!!!

I'm not sure ajig would help you but its good to have ajig laying around just in case things go bad. The jig will get you into download mode but if your usb cable/usb port is bad then you still can't connect to your pc to use odin. Sounds like you need a new usb cable or you need to clean your usb port. Have you tried cleaning your phones usb port with isopropyl alcohol and a Qtip? We had a member fix his phone this way just yesterday. If that doesn't work and a tmobile usb cable doesn't work then you might have a faulty usb port. Tmobile has a 30 day money back guarantee on the usb cable so try that if you haven't already. If you end up exhausting all options then I recommend www.mobiletechvideos.com to replace your usb port, plenty of folks have had success with them in the past. Just so you know, the only usb cable that works for me is the one from the tmobile store. I'm not sure why but I have three other cables that work fine on my friends vibrant but dont even do anything at all when plugged in to my phone (not even charge). Let us know what ends up being the fix, good luck.

I gave it a try and cleaned out the USB port with some electronic contact cleaner, but that didn't help. I've also tried 4 cables and 2 PC with no differences.
I'll try out the JIG and see if that fixes it if not I'll decide what to do:quite frankly I would unbrick it and bring it back to the stock firmware just to turn around and put it on eBay, so I'm not quite sure it's worth the effort... But since I've already ordered the JIG I'll give that one a try...
Good luck. I suggest you mod your phone like mobile tech videos (tried acronyming it to MTV but you know) did to make it unbrickable.

If you happen to have Amazon Prime, you can get a jig from Amazon in your hands with next day delivery for $8 (3.99 for the jig and 3.99 for the delivery).
Now that said, if you happend to have flashed the GB bootloader at some point, rememer that the download mode is now accessed by the volume up, instead of both up and down. It's definitely worth giving this a try:
- take out the battery
- plug in the usb to the phone and your PC
- hold the power up button and insert the battery. It should go right into download mode
I actually did have a GB room installed... I'll give it a try tonight: thanks for the heads up!!!!
Just noticed that you said you already ordered the jig so NM about the amazon suggestion. I've been in the situation with the exclamation point and thought mine was bricked. I ordered the jig on Amazon and then finally tried what I detailed above and got in download mode. I could not get in DL mode no matter what else I tried, including just powering up with USB attached and volume up held. I had to do it with the battery being inserted with volume up.
Good luck and remember, the jig may work for the phone, but flowers usually work for the wife.
It was indeed the wrong combo to get it into download mode: using the volume up only and it went right in. The USB connectivity is also solved.
After some back and forth I was able to get CM 7.2 loaded and it works perfectly. Now I just need to solve the dreaded GPS issues of this phone: tonight I'll take it apart and see if bending the antenna connector solves it. It is a August 2010 production so it might as well be.
Other than that CM7.2 works pretty damn good. I already have it on my N1 with no issues. The Vibrant is very much snappier now, particularly if you crank it over to 1.3GHz.
Again thanks a lot for all the help!!!!
A friend had the same problem where it wouldn't go into download mode and would just stay at the phone ! computer screen. It would auto turn on when plugged into usb to this screen so that gave me little hope. What I ended up doing was holding all three buttons and when it turned black let go off power but kept volumes held, it would load back to the exclamation screen and I would hold the power button again, it cycled like this 3 or 4 times, but eventually went back to the download mode and I was able to restore with Odin.
Greetings!
So, recently, my Transformer Prime stopped being able to connect to my PC. When plugged in, the Prime does show that it is receiving current on the cable, as the charging symbol shows up, but that is all. Windows shows no indication that the Prime is plugged in. This includes looking in Disk Management and in Device Manager. Nothing. Oh, and USB debugging on the Prime is turned on.
I have tried two different cables (both of which will definitely charge the unit), and 3 different PCs, all with no change. Additionally, there is no visible damage at all to the port.
I even ROM'ed it (after the problem started) with Cyanogen10 and nothing changed. Finally, I tried it with the dock, and while the dock works fine when they are coupled, if I plug the dock into a PC, still nothing.
I am sort of out of ideas. Anyone else have any?
Thanks!

There is another thread with a discussion on this. Perhaps it will help. Read through the posts to see any trouble shooting suggested, but I'm guessing your USB port is dead and will need to send the tablet back RMA to get it fixed - sorry to say.
See the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624175
I had the same issue, and unfortunately soft bricked my prime while trying to see if different ROM's would fix the issue. the soft brick would have been recoverable if my prime would connect to my PC, but it didn't so I ended up paying Asus to repair the unit.
If none of the troubleshooting works, I'd flash back to a stock ROM and then send it in. mine would only boot into CWM so once they saw that, they figured that was the problem and charged me for the repair. I had seen a couple of people say that even though they were unlocked, the prime was fixed for free since they were able to boot up into the rom.

Can I ask how much they charged you to fix it? I'm about to send mine in for RMA, but have a cracked screen from a drop. USB worked for weeks after the screen crack, but I'm concerned they will say it broke due to my neglect. (Basically I don't want to spend too much to fix it with a broken screen). If I can get the USB working again, I'll consider spending some cash to fix the screen - but to pay for both I'd be better to just but a new tablet.
Never mind, I see you already answered me on a different post. $232.
