Why I can't flash ROM's with clockworkmod recovery? - Folio 100 General

I've posted this here cause I donĀ“t have posts enough to post in development.
I'd put the update.zip of the CWM in internal memory and I can't enter to toshiba recovery yet. This wouldn't be a problem if the CWM let me install the honycomb or folioblur rom but always says me the same when I try it (installation aborted). What I'm doing wrong? Greetings

Download Folio Original Recovery here and apply it in recovery:
http://www.mediafire.com/?22b9lnppc6j9ktv

Thanks but I still can't flash any rom. After a few seconds with a black screen appears the ! icon and when press the home button says me Installation aborted. I've download the rom 3 or 4 times but this isn't the problem. greetings

Its a classic i think. Do you unzip the downloaded file? You should the flashable zip is inside

I'm feel very stupid right now XD. This was the problem inside the .zip there are another .zip. I'd never seen this in the orange boston roms. Sorry for the stupid question. greetings

i made it so, so regular users had a safe way to ensure content was really downloaded 100% , so it has a meaning to the zip inside a zip.

Can't boot into clockwork recovery

Ok so i downloaded rom manager and selected the top option flash clockworkmod recovery and picked my phone ( im already rooted by using the one step click root) and then i picked install rom from SD card and picked my room (which is Bi-winning v3) and my phone turned off and rebooted and went into the samsung recovery screen i tried to reinstall packages but gave me a error , i even tried the "all clockworkmod" recoveries and no luck same thing happens boots me up to the samsung recovery.
Does any one know what am doing wrong or what i can do to fix this problem?? thanks in advance and im still on my stock android os have't changed anything.
First, you need to start with a clean SD card. Then, open ROM Manager, flash cwr etc. etc. When it is finished downloading, power off the phone and reboot into recovery. From there (this is where the clean SD card is needed) then hit "reinstall packages, then hit reboot. This should bring up the iconic green text. reply if there are any problems.

Is not very clear to me. Did you flash your phone previously? have you done ODIN, kies, etc? have you tried this?

-ODIN to stock
-go here> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157002 and download the link in the EDIT: POSSIBLE FIX (put this on root of internal SD)
-Re-install packages through stock recovery.
For some reason Rom Manager is not flashing CWR right. I couldn't get it to stick for hours. Just kept rebooting into normal load.
Follow the instructions above and you should be good to go. The 1.72mb update.zip should give you root and CWR

Just download that update.zip he referenced (that I put there), and flash it.. instead of using Rom Manager.
it will root and install CWR for you.
I need to update my guides.

i highly suggest you learn how to use ODIN in the Vibrant Bible. If you're doing anything that has to do with rooting and flashing your phone, be sure you know how to revert back to stock. You WILL NEED TO at some point or another or find out what if feels like to own a brick.

[Q] Flashing X10 mini question

Hello,
First I want to thank all xda-developers for their work!
They do even better work then the providers!
Question 1:
Well my question is that I want to flash my SE Xperia X10 Mini.
I already unlocked the bootloader with the following guide:
Link 1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Although now I want to flash the kernel.
In the thread (link 1) stands how to flash the kernel.
But also in the following thread of the ROM that I want to install after worths:
Link 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
Link 1 says that I don't must flash any .sin files.
Although link 2 says I need to flash the kernel.sin and the loader.sin.
This getting me confused, now I don't know what I need to follow?
Question 2:
Also at the link 1 it talks about a .ftf file that I can't find.
Where can I find that?
Question 3:
In link 2 when i download the ROM I get a file called "A MiniCM7-2.1.1_nAa-kernel02.7z".
So it says it got a kernel inside (I guess thats the .ftf file) but I can't find it inside it.
Anybody knows where I could find that?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
I think you have wrong link to get custom kernel, find here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739 see instal guide, there the link kernel ftf file.
Before flash that kernel you must flash the ROM in Link 2.
to flash custom kernel you must download ftf file if you had zip, extract and you will get ftf and put that in folder flashtool/firmware, and you can see there 2 file.sin in there from flashtool.
If i can help you don't forget to press thanks button.
Thanks for your quick response!
U helped me to the right direction already.
Although i still have a question left.
Question 1:
To flash the ROM I just need to copy it to the root of the SD-card?
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
Copy Rom ( *.zip) to the SD Card ,
in the ClockworkMod choose option
- install zip from sdcard then
- choose zip from sdcard then
find file with ROM and apply
VOILA
of course I assume that you have ClockworworkMod installed

Yes,
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.
don,t forget to backup your file first.
and now you can flash the kernel.
Thanks both for your answers.
Yes I installed ROM manager.
Although stiv8785 you say I first need to follow these steps and then flash:
1. Copy ROM to sd card
2. boot in CWM recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. wipe cache partition
5. advance>wipe dalvik cache
6. instal zip from sd card and chose ROM.

Although I first need to flash kernel and then follow those steps.
Just like it stands in the other guides.
Although I already copy the ROM to SD card.
Please note me when I am wrong.
Both a big thanks again for your quick response.
Greetz,
Jan2426
EDIT:
At the moment I wanted to flash my phone I am still confused (sorry guys for my slow understanding).
To flash it by this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256739
He says:
Flash the kernel via Flashtool
Click to collapse
Although that gives me to less details how to flash is correctly.
On the following link there is more details about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
He says:
Flash the nAa kernel using Flashtool. To to this:
- Turn off your phone
- Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
- Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
- Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Click to collapse
And the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Says this:
Generally you have to delete all the files in /system/lib/modules before flashing a custom kernel!
c. Put the (kernel name).ftf file in the /firmwares folder. (Don't flash any .sin files, flash only the .ftf file.)
d. Open Flashtool.
e. Click Flash.
f. Select (kernel name).ftf.
g. Turn off your phone.
h. Connect your phone in flash mode (only when the popup window prompts for you to do so). (To boot into flash mode, press and hold back button while connecting your phone to the PC using an usb cable).
i. Disconnect your phone (do so only when the popup window to prompts you to disconnect your phone).
j. Reboot and you have a custom kernel!
k. Confirm by going to Settings --> About Phone --> Kernel version. It should have the name of the kernel you flashed.
m. To flash back to stock kernel, download the appropriate file below and follow steps listed above.

Which one is the best to follow for my SE Xperia X10 Mini (E10i)?
Steps I already have taken:
1. Unlock the bootloader.
2. Install FlashTool v0.2.9.1 beta.
3. Put the .ftf file into the following folder: /firmwares.
4. Put the custom ROM (the .zip file) into the root of my SD card.
So far all successful.
sorry, maybe because I use the Mini Pro not mini.
Please follow the instructions in the ROM thread, I think everything is clear.
and all the materials you prepare is correct, good luck
No problem
And thanks again I will follow that guide now.
I am charging my mobile now to 100% now before I start.
Although I installed ROM manager but didn't do anything with it yet.
Should I do something with it before flashing or?
I have totally no experience with the ROM manager.
Anybody could give a short guide how to use the ROM manager and where it's good for?
I am sorry I keep asking questions but I am a bit nervous about flashing my mobile.
I don't want to brick it hehe
EDIT:
Do I need to delete all files in "/system/lib/modules" before flashing?
There is only the following items in it:
sdio.ko
tiwlan_drv.ko

Have you installed the Recovery CWM?
You don't need ROM manager.
No need to remove the module, if the ROM is compatible with a custom kernel.
At this following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1068553
or:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
Stands nothing from Recovery CWM.
Do I then still need to install it?
Also if I need to do I need to install it before or after flashing the kernel?
Or is it included by flashing the kernel?
EDIT:
I notice that I keep getting in a circle of keep asking questions.
I will try to break this circle with the following.
Tell me how far it's done:
- Good.
- Bad.
- What else need to be done.
- What need to be changed.
I'm sorry that I keep asking these questions, but like I said before I am getting bit nervous about flashing my phone.
Although I want to do it because SE stopped with giving us updates and I am stuck with 2.1-update1
Step 1: Root phone (done successful).
Step 2: Unlock bootloader (done successful).
Step 3: Flash kernel (not done).
Step 3a: Turn off your phone
Step 3b: Start the Flashtool\X10FlashTool.exe and select Flash. Then select the E10_nAaxxx kernel firmware (this flashes both the kernel.sin and the loader.sin)
Step 3c: Keep the back button pressed while connecting the usb cable. Flashtool should detect your phone and flash the kernel.
Step 3e: Once done, disconnect the usb cable and power on the phone.
Step 4: Install Recovery CWM (not done).
Step 4a: Don't know what to do here?
Do i need to install it actually?
NOTE:I also heard something about Busybox, but I don't know much about that either and is it needed?
Short explanation about the colors:
Green: done successful
Orange: I think it's the right way to do not sure and not done.
Red: I am confused and don't know what to do.
Thanks in advance.
Greetz,
Jan2426
GOOD
Make sure has been successful flash custom kernel:
go to settings> about phone and see if the kernel version is 2.6.29 SEMCUser @ SEMCHost # 1 you have not succeeded. but if his version is compatible with the kernel name or initials, you've managed to flash a custom kernel.
I read the thread nAa kernel, CWM recovery already in the kernel. to be sure reboot the phone, wait a moment will live on and the screen appeared an image or text first on press back button. iff you in to the recovery menu (for navigation, home to select).
please proceed to the next step in ROM instalation guide.
So I can untill ROM manager and busybox from my mobile?
They are not needed?

if your phone has been root, you don't need busybox. because it's already installed on the phone when in root. (I assume if your phone already in root)
ROM manager i think it, s optional.

stiv8785 once thanks again! (I pressed every thanks button at every post of yours )
So I unstalled dropbox.
I guess I will keep ROM manager on my phone for now.
Although I got one last question (I hope ).
How do I backup my ROM that I use now (the standard thats on every SE X10 Mini)?
So if something goes wrong that I still got a backup.

How to flash Deodex Rom 408 on Dell Venue??

Hello Guys,
I am new here. My name is Christian. I ordered a Dell Venue by my Uncle in Maryland for use in Germany. Last week I got the phone.
Today I flashed Android 2.3.3 from this Tutorial of "michaeljwestiii". GB is running great, but I can choose only Korean and English (Language).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...4&postcount=45
The User TheManiii released International Versions included many other Languages like German, Vietnamese etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1416537
My Problem: What does he mean with "normal Pkg."? How can I flash his "Deodex Rom"? Could I flash his Deodex GB 408 Rom with an Olleh PKG of michaeljwestiiis Tutorial? I dont find a "normal 408" Rom for the Dell Venue!
A normal system.img is one imagefile, but his Rom is 2 Files and one image. How Can I flash this Rom on my Dell Venue?
Many thanks to all who can help me.
Best regards and have a nice day

Guten Tag Christian,
Flash the deoxed 408 file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416537 - the 408 base v1 zip. After that, flash the international language pack found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469908.
Hello Mike,
thanks for the links. I download these 2 files, but how can I flash these zip files? The venue233 file of your own Tut was easy to flash with adb in fastboot mode, but how can I flash this zip file?

Hello Christian,
I think I see the problem, have you loaded Clockworkmod? That will let you flash the zip files. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423002 The Olleh PKG from my tutorial is the normal 408 package that the deoxed version is flashed over.
Hello Mike,
So should I install your "normal PKG." again or is it enough that I flash Deodex 408?
I have "installed" cwm 5.5.0.4 succesfull in adb, but how can I open cwm? Power + Vol -? If I make this, I join only the fastboot mode

You do not need to install the normal pkg again. To get into cwm, switch the mute to OFF (red shows), press both volume buttons down and the power button all at the same time. When the dell logo shows, release the power button but keep pressing the volume buttons until the screen goes dark. You will then see a menu with 3 options, choose the middle one to upgrage SW package and choose with the camera button. The screen will flash, then the blue CWM menu will load.
To flash the deoxed and language zips, Press the volume down button to go to "install zip from sdcard" and press the camera button to select. Next press the camera button again to select the "choolse zip from sdcard" choice. Then use the volume buttons and camera button to navigate to the deoxed zip. Then follow the prompts to flash the file, then exit and reboot. Do the same thing to flash the language file.
Thanks Mike,
I joined the blue cwm menu, but I cant choose anything. I dont see the update.pkg or the zip files.
The files are 100% on my SD Card. What could it be?
EDIT: Now I used an app named "rom manager" I choose the Deodox Zip and flash it.
How Can I check, if the Deodox flash was succesfull?
Edit 2: Deodox isnt flashed. I dont know, why. I cant choose anything in cwm .
Use a file manager to check the system partition. If the deox flash was successful, you should not see any files ending in .odex.
It wasnt successful.
I cant join the cwm. I push Power on and the 2 two Volume Buttons, but I come only in an "Android system recovery utility" Menu. <--- There I cant choose anything.
I flashed the Clockwork mod 5.5.0.4 recovery.img, and the cmd says, that it is succesfull.

If it still says Android system recovery utility, then CWM didn't really get flashed. All I can really say is try again, it does work. Maybe TheManii will drop by with a suggestion or two.
No chance, I've tried everything. No clue what it is. I probably seem to be the one with the problem
Guys!
Its running, after 11 hours of testing!
CWM was not running, because Manii named cwm like 5.5.4.0. I renamed the image into recovery.img, so my problem was fixed.
Thanks to Mike for help
All in all its faster than Froyo.
Anybody knows what this mean?
"android.process.acore"
The Venue shows this Bug after restart...
Glad you got it to work. The android.process.acore error always came up for me on the Olleh GB build, though it didn't seem to affect anything. The MIUI and CM7 builds do not appear to have that error.
Yes ok, than it should be no problem. It works.
I hope ICS will come too in a few months. CM7 and MIUI based on 2.3.3? Could I switch to German Language?
CM7 definately supports German, I am pretty sure MIUI does too.
Great, I will test it.
Thanks Mike

HD revolution

Hi everybody. I'm from Italy.
I open this thread because i can't post in correct zone of this forum.
I havo some question about the rom HD revolution.
Is compatible with every original firmware installed?
The step to flash are:
Download ROM and place it on your virtual SD card
Download "Super Wipe" script & place it on your SD card (optionally if coming from earlier version of my ROM, obligatory if coming from stock or other custom ROM)
Flash boot.img from the downloads section
Boot your phone in recovery mode (vol up + home + power)
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of "Super Wipe" script
Once again select "choose zip from sdcard" and browse to the location of Android Revolution ROM
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device
They're correct with new phone?

Samsung needs no boot.img only htc.
Just place the HD rom and the superwipe script on your external sd card. Flash superwipe script and than the hd rom. Done.
So, i din't need "root" privileges?
The recovery mode is accessibly with default rom and no previously mod?
This firmware, if i understand, is full, so there's no problem abount language and version of original firmware installed?
This firmware has italian language?
You need to have clockwork recovery to install the custom rom.
Just flash the correct CF rooting via odin and you will have everything you need. Thankfully Samsung don't do ****ty semi-unlocked bootloaders, which means once you're rooted you can pretty much do everything directly via your phone

Ok, i hope that my english is undestand Is not perfect but i undestand your messages
So, the first passage is installing clockwork recovery (via odin?) and after this reboot phone in recovery mode and install superwipe and ROM that i previously copy in memory card?

Hello everyone
I have a problem with my S3 after performing super wipe. I have rooted the device and conducted super wipe as described. When i install HD revolution the installation fails with a message "E:Can't open /sdcard/Android_Revolution_HD-SGS3_2.1.1 (bad) installation aborted" is there anything that i have missed or done wrongly? Please help as i have searched for solution to this problem without a success.

Download the rom again. I've had this problem because of bad downloads. Without even noticing my laptop didn't ended downloading the files but show then as completed. but when I looked they where 195Mb and they were supposed to be of 225Mb (just an example). Maybe this is your issue

Thank you very much for the suggestion. I have tried downloading couple of times and the file size is 702 MB. All times it comes exactly the same size as it should be. However, the problem still persists. I have decided to go back to stock ROM till i can figure what is exactly the problem
