I noticed my mom's X2 had an OTA. I was wondering what it might be, anyone have a suggestion of a site I can view a list of all the updates that have been pushed to the X2?

What is the build number on it after the update?
Just checked for system updates on mine and nothing came up...any more info on this OTA?
You sure it isn't the original X?

Well, I sincerely doubt Motorola would have quietly pushed out anything particularly significant (certainly not 2.3). I haven't heard anything about this OTA, though maybe I should inquire whenever I get around to asking @Motorola if they've got a timeframe for Gingerbread.
EDIT: Just checked mine. No updates.
No update here.

They randomly started pushing Gingerbread to the Droid Pro last night with no announcement whatsoever. Caught everyone, even the people usually in the know, by surprise.
The only thing that caught them by surprise was how soon the update came after the announcement that it would get Gingerbread. Everyone knew a week or two in advance that it would be coming to the Droid Pro (along with the X and the Droid 2 variants). Meanwhile, nothing has been said about the X2, so it's pretty safe to say that there's nothing significant coming out for it in the very near future.
Oh I totally agree. I'm betting on at least 3-4 months before an official release. This device has enough changes that I'm sure we'll see a leak or two before official, with gaps between now and then, and then OTA update.
According to Motorola X2 forum, there is nothing currently planned but that any update information will put out as soon as they know something.....So probably not for a while.
Sorry for the wait, She informs me that she postponed the update when it popped up and it's not not in her system updates. so we still have no idea what the hell it was.
Maybe it was just a market update lol.
The cake is a LIE...

Yeah have to confirm there are no updates on my Droid X2 (had it since launch.) Would expect this for a few months...
I got a update the first day i got my dx2 last week and postponed....found it again yesterday.....it is a market update not OTA

Rumor has it we will get the gingerbread update in Q3. Bad things will happen if you flash the DX gingerbread update.
a 2.3 update would be beneficial to both verizon and moto... with other droids getting the update recently/soon it would make sense to expect it at least within the next couple months. the best news is that they already have motoblur working on 2.3, so this should make the update alot easier for the DX2... we sit and wait, as always.
It's rather asinine that the DROID X2 this late in the game did not include Android 2.3.3/4 any high-end(ish) phone that comes out this late with 2.2 is just stupid, Thunderbolt, Charge etc. etc. These carriers are always B*t*hing about there networks and data but they just gotta push all that data to thousands of the said updates to the phones. makes no sense.
The X2 does not have GB because GB is having problems on the dual-core Tegra 2 chipset. I talked with a rep this evening that was pretty knowledgable on the situation and she stated that we most likely won't be seeing GB on the X2 in the foreseeable future, a few months at the least.

I am also very curious about this. I've been harassing P3Droid on Twitter. Since he has inside sources at Moto (or so I've heard) someone should ask him what he thinks...
TBH plans to develop for this as soon as they get their hands on one...
I just wish this phone were more stable to start with. Swapping between wifi and 3G is a lag fest, pulling the phone from either the car dock or multimedia dock is a crap shoot. Often times it'll get confused and just give a blank screen when swapping between apps, and it'll require a reboot before the whole thing runs smoothly again.
I'm hoping a clean GB install will fix these problems because I really want to keep the device.
Take this with a grain of salt, and its not really shocking or anything.. but Matt from Motorola on the Owners forum yesterday (at least i believe for the first time) came out and publicly stated that he has seen an X2 with Gingerbread on it..
It's at least the first glimmer of Ginger"Hope" that i have read or seen... Not that im expecting GB to make this the greatest thing since sliced bread, but hey some of us need a morale boost here.
The post is here, just look for Matt's about 1/2 way down the page.

Got to the page and saw the info. Seeing Matt reminded me to update my profile for that site to include X2. I don't know if we're getting hope or hype. Guess that just like the original DX, we'll have to go through this waiting game crap with DX2. If I had to guess, we're not gonna see a damn thing before August. (just experience talking)
lets see what we get first, gingerbread or the custom recovery we are waiting for..my bet is on the recovery
I have a friend with a Droid X 1 and they just downloaded Ginger... if the X1 has Ginger shouldn't the X2 also have it?
You should've seen the controversy with 2.2 on the fascinate. This is nothing compared to that at all.

To be honest, I really don't think that this really means anything. The DROID X2 was originally supposed to be released with Gingerbread. As a Motorola employee moderating the X2 forums, he has a lot insider info, and most likely had something to do with the development. Including the times they had the X2 running a rough version of GB.
With the push to get the X2 out and the overall problems with dual core, they unfortunately backed to Froyo.

Just my .02, I had the Droid X with Rubix and ****ing loved it. Best phone I've ever had, I could go 2 days on one charge and I'm a power user. Well, recently I got a replacement X via Verizon warranty replacement (due to a bad charging port) and it came with 2.3 GB. I cannot say enough, how much I effing hate Moto's stock roms. GB was crashing left and right on me and the worst part was I had to do a SBF back to 2.2 just to be able to re-root and restore my backup. Well, it turned out the refurb Verizon sent me had a bad charging port also and they opted to upgrade me to the X2 for free before my upgrade was available. The X2 is ****ing great. I really don't care for 2.3GB yet because of the sour taste it left from my DX1. I'm still not crazy about Moto's stock ROMs but at least 2.2 only reboots on me like once or twice a day compared to like 5 times a day with stock 2.3 on DX1. At this point I'm just waiting on the custom ROMS like everyone else, but the dual core and upped display are definitely worth it. Also with the extra processing power comes better battery life since the cores aren't spending as much time in their upper voltage ranges. I can't wait to see more custom work available on this beast!

Some Have Said You Just Need The Bloat, But Which Bloat Programs Isn't Specified. I Told Another Guy SBF Is The Sure Fire Way Of Knowing You'll Get The Update.
The only bloat I uninstalled were the games, golf & nfs I think. Thought they'd be safe cuz the os allowed their removal.

I sbf'd last night.
half to ensure the update, and half to try it out and make sure sbf works correctly.
edit:
I realize that the idea of this never being rooted is wildly unlikely, but we can go back to froyo with the sbf we have now correct?

Yes, you'll just have the reminder each boot that an update is available.
If anyone gets the update please let everyone know. I have been checking every hour since the news was made available.

The above Tweet from Verizon's support staff confirms that the Gingerbread/Android 2.3 update may begin rolling out as early as today for the DroidX2. This newest version should be coming to your DroidX2 within the next few days, and it includes the same version of Blur that can be seen on the DROID3 and Bionic. It also includes a series of bug fixes to improve many aspects of your device. You can see Verizon's .pdf file detailing the update,
here
.
"Even though the official rollout starts today, and a select few will probably start getting it, from the status of the Motorola focus group's soak test, it's likely that the full mass rollout may not start until Friday."

Not if you don't agree to Moto's terms and agreement at setup... or if you just remove or freeze the account apps when you do get the sbf up and running.
I SBF'ed and then rooted, installed recovery and made a a backup with all the bloat included... That way I can just use that backup, uninstall recovery and unroot and be good to go...
Matt from the motorola forums said:
So, the tweet actually says "Ginger bread is being pushed out systematically to our Droid X2 customers starting today."
"I think the key words are "pushed," "systematically," and "starting." To me that means you won't necessarily be able to pull it, since it says push. Systematically suggests that as usual, it will start small. And there are still a lot of hours left in the day for it to start."

So it's probably a good idea to SBF to stock or restore a stock backup to get the update? Not really caring about root now, I just want to see if Gingerbread makes this any faster. That will be the thing deciding whether I keep this or sell it and get the SGS2

I would be careful and not count on this. The Atrix one that just came out has a new bootloader and when people try to sbf to froyo it HARD bricks their phones. Go google and checkout atrix forums to see for yourself. Very serious. We don't know for sure at this time one way or the other how it will go with the x2.
Having never owned a device that had a bunch of bloatware on it or any Motorola smart phone, is it recommended to unroot/sbf if all i have done is freeze the recommended apps?
Wouldnt an OTA just rewrite everything I did anyways so it wouldnt matter?
Do any UK Atrix owners know whether this update is ever going to happen for our phones? The only mod i've made to my Atrix is to root it, but i'm seriously tempted to unlock my bootloader and start to enjoy the custom roms available for this great phone.

Funny you mention that I just did the same after reading the OP
This is garbage to be honest....how hard is it to send it out...it isnt like there is a huge amount of branding (unlike the old WinMo phones)

My thoughts entirely deech
I've heard that there is a phone called the Atrix2 MB865 and is being shipped with OS 2.3 gingerbread as of october 2011 in the usa. So trying not to be too negative i personally don't think orange will update my MB860 before summer next year. I am giving it till the end of january and then i'll unlock my bootloader. http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_atrix_2-4199.php
I doubt there will ever be an GB update for the UK out-of-datrix.
Killed any passion I had for motorola - BOS if you ask me - I'll never buy another one of there ****ty phones ever again & will recommend to everyone they aviod them like the plague.

Yeah i've read that too, i also read somewhere that the Atrix is now EOL and isn't even 12 months old yet!! I can't believe this personally as this is still one of the fastest phones out there, and probably has the hardware to run ICS let alone Gingerbread.
I wish I could just "give" you my GB OTA. I have the Bell Atrix and am staying on Froyo. I've come close of pulling the trigger on my GB OTA, but I keep hearing the horror stories about battery life not being as good and others wishing they could go back to Froyo that I'm staying put.
I've used Gingerbread on my SGS and SGSII, and IMO GB doesn't have anything that I want anyway.
Now ICS is a completely different story. You should check out the ICS Launchers or ICS themes (some are in the market) and you won't even think about GB.
Hopefully we all get ICS (or go the CM9 route) because GB can easily be skipped over and left forgotten IMO...

I'll give it till Feb (as I'm away for several months soon) and see if we have CM9 or else wack CM7 on and be done with it.....Going to go back to HTC or maybe a Sammy next time....

any idea about the ICS rom ETA for Razr GSM version?
I thought I read on the Andoid forums that the ICs for GSM devices was avaiable now.
Leaked screenshots (not ROM) also reported here:

Interesting that it's using the standard ICS launcher dock rather than the more Blur'd one from the GSM ICS leak.

That is a blur launcher. It has all the blur look. A lot different from the official Xoom build as well. But don't forget this is Cdma build with VZW bloat

My understanding is that there will be a complete Blur rebuild, with a toned down feel for some ICS functions to shine through.

This was good news to read this morning. The screenshots look a lot like a completed build, which means we'll hopefully be getting ICS soon. The only problem I have with the current version of Blur is the uninstallable bloatware, but at least apps can be hidden. I bought a RAZR because I absolutely love Motorola's hardware. As soon as we can get ICS my phone will have the best software too.
how did you guys put up with motorola locked bootloader policy BS? i know many samsung users will be angry if samsung start doing that, but i don't think samsung will do that anytime soon. maybe in 2-3 years they will lock their bootloader, who knows.
I do not mind the bootloader for now, since I bought the phone knowing it is locked. If I buy a Samsung I know it's unlocked and if they lock it, it is a violation of there own policy and therefore gives me a reason to complain.
If it is Motorola's decision to take down the lock of the bootloader allot of heavy-users and programmers will joy that decision, but if they don not, than it is just tough luck. (Nevermind the fact I like it unlocked also)
The Locked Bootloader is a pain... The trend is that everyone is doing away with the locked, Moto being the only company left that has one... The lock problem prevents us from changing the Kernal and thus limits the amount of things we can accomplish with a custom ROM, Which is why at this time there are only a number of ROMs available to use... most are just tweaks of the exisiting Moto Rom....
You can search this forum, there is alittle more info here, plus a petition drive to contact Moto and voice your complaints....

I would assume Q1(Jan-Mar) Q2(April-June) Q3(July-Sept) Q4(Oct-Dec). To bad it's still unknown for CDMA.
Is there any chance that we can get ICS for Razr earlier than Q2?
If Motorola start leaking ROMs as much as HTC and Samsung do then yes.. but highly unlikely.. However that being said, we already have a leaked test version but obviously not stable enough to be used as a daily. And also on top of that, there are a few devs working on versions of ICS built from source so although we might not get an official Moto build of it before it's released, we can probably still get a decent cooked version of it soon.
using ics for over a week
I was able to dl the 4.0.3 from the server when it first popped up, after it (the d/l) started i restarted my phone and then went to settings and it showed up there as a ota d/l. I've been using it for over a week now and I've had absolutley no trouble with it. I retained root using voodoo and it autmatically reinstalled all my apps on it's own, all my root tweaks work and it's much faster than the .181 build along with being more detailed in the settings. I've reasd horror stories about people bricking their phones but again it went as smooth as butter, It failed 4 times due to me having the beta swype on and not being able to get it off, but after rsd'ing back to stock and taking all the updates and not adding or changing any programs along the way it went on as it should again under my settings tab not the [email protected] route, not sure why this happened maybe after it's identified the phone it "accepted" it as a soak? phone, I dont know but it's as perfect as I would want, I've been playing with the rooting and roms since the og droid, droid x, droid x2 and the bionic which was buggier than my shed, I don't understand where everyone is having trouble installing it, I believe I'm still on the update path as when I check for an update it allows it to happen and I can connect all my accounts including Motocast which I've read the update killed for most people, a few tweaks under the ro.build reconnected my mobile data and when I check to see what *#*#4636*#* it shows my phone info for preferred network type as unknown (which i dont understand) and under motorola services "push connected" as true, which i believe lets me know that this was considered a legit ota update, now I've been rooting and flashing since the og but am far from being an expert in reading this and may be misinterpeting what I'm reading but so far so good and wouldn't go back to GB for anything, and wouldn't understand why anyone would, much faster, 4g stays connected all the time and the speeds are faster there also, has a different overall feel to the system that is more fluid and hasn't had one hiccup to date, a little long winded but I thought i would give my opinion on the build. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
