If you have clockworkmod installed on it, boot into cwm and wipe data/cache/dalvik and flash a different showcase kernel that you know works. Do you have a functioning showcase kernel already on your sd card?
You flashed a Verizon Fascinate kernel onto a Telus Showcase. Good job.
Dude I did the same thing my advice and what worked for me is flash the cell south showcase rom. Root your phone get rid of all cell south Apps make it look stock take it back get a new one that's if your in your 60 or 90 days i forget what it is as far as I know there's no roms For are showcase yet. If they give u **** just say u talked to customer service and samsung and u told them your phone seemed really slow and u noticed a few apps always running that shouldn't be even after you killed them like screen capture service and a few others and they told u it's probably a phone defect and should take it back and pick the rep that's looks like they want to go home they only want sells and will get you out as quick as possible. I hope all works out well for you I know how it is I'm on frog and payed 450..... but it should
Got my cell south Rom from some dudes in a irc chat room #samsung-mesmerize they helped me out a lot and if your willing to dump your Rom when u get a new phone they will make you a Rom for your phone

Telus doesn't use the Showcase. They use a GSM version of the Fascinate. The Showcase is a CDMA phone that is like a twin to the Verizon Fascinate and the US Cellular Mesmerize.

Slow down there buddy I'm on a showcase sch i500 cdma right now n-telos does have it they started selling it around may 1st its not gsm n-telos is cdma a little different then the cell south found out the hard way
Same problem here. Found directions to install Cyanogen 7.1 on a Samsung Showcase as it listed it to be compatible. Downloaded ClockworkMod Recovery and installed it using Heimdall Suite 1.1.1. Used CWM to then install the Cyanogen 7.1 rom and Google apps rom as well. All seemed good except for when it booted it listed my carrier as Cellular South. My carrier is actually Ntelos.
Needless to say the only thing that initially worked were voice calls and the web for some reason. Text messaging was broken(a big one with me).
I tried to *228 to see if that would maybe program the phone for the proper settings but it did not work.
So I thought that because I had backed up my phone with CWM I could just revert back to my old image and all would be well. The restore function did not work. Rebooting into CWM from the ROM manager I was able to initiate the restore. All seemed well and it notified me it had restored. When I rebooted my phone however it was frozen at the Samsung logo. I rebooted into CWM and cleared my cache and did the factory reset only to find that after a reboot it just loads straight to CWM.
Now I basically have a useless phone. I can reinstall Cyanogen but I no longer have signal for service. It also seems hit or miss as to if it installs with no problems. Sometimes it will install and the default widgets will show errors loading. The google apps will not install sometimes even though they show confirmed through CWM. I can reboot the phone from ROM manager into CWM and it will perform the restore just the same as the first time without any problems but the phone will not boot back up to the stock ROM. If I try to boot straight to CWM using Volume+Home+Power it will not perform the restore. It goes through small part
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Restoring system...
Error mounting /system
That's as far as I get.
I'm basically stuck in this vicious cycle with no end in site. I've tried researching til my eyes hurt to find a solution to my problem. I can't find a stock ROM anywhere. Obviously the combination of a small carrier and a small audience for this model phone yields little along the lines of widespread support. So I've came here to the XDA Developers board in hopes that someone will be able to help me.

Hey, what's up. So, here's the problem.
1. I flashed Void, I didn't like.
2. I flashed the stock rom (froyo 2.2).
3. now airplane mode in "settings > wireless and network settings" won't turn off.
I've tried taking the battery out for 10 seconds and putting it back again to no avail.
Help please!!!! Now I can't make any calls or anything cuz I've got no connection anywhere!!
Reflash the stock ROM

wipe all. try to flash devoid its 2.2 but a lot better.
How did you flash stock ROM? By creating a KDZip(stockrom.zip) and then flashing it? Anyway try to wipe dalvik-cache via Recovery.
1. I've flashed the stock twice
2. I don't wanna go for another ROM at this stage. Getting an error when restoring, and not being able to restore, a nandroid backup is what landed me in this mess, and I'm not sure what other misleading information about Romming I've been fed.
3. Nah, I flashed the stock .DZ.
4. Would my service provider be able to format and reinstall android, or will I be looking at getting a new phone?? Cuz that would suck.

Well, if you keep restoring messed-up/corrupt/broken settings etc., no wonder flashing does not help. Wipe everything and flash a stock ROM, do not restore any broken mess. That is what your provider would do anyway, so no need to waste money.

I did flash shiny ROMs located on this forum over here. I spoke to LG and I have to call them back in a couple. They're gonna get the same phone and we're gonna walk the problem together.
Like 20 minutes or something later..
Yeah, so they said they don't know and I should take it to an MTN outlet. They're not very helpful on Sundays I think.. Gonna take it in tomorrow then
Oh yeah, and i would still like to know..
..if my service provider would be able to restore original Froyo 2.2.0 or if I should consider forking out for a new phone?? .. Or if by any chance LG could restore Froyo bearing in mind that I've flashed 2.2.1 stock and the phone has been un-rooted, or if they'll say hard luck??
Well, as I already said. You still have lingering junk there. Flight mode is not some miracle, it is simply a profile with WiFi/BT/2G+3G turned off. (What can be turned on in flight mode is set in an sqlite DB, so it is even possible to override it).
So, no matter what you have flashed or not, you did that incorrectly. Being unable to switch flight mode on/off does not come out of nowhere.
There is absolutely no need to buy a new phone, your problem is a software one, not a faulty HW. (For questions what LG will or will not do, ask them, not here.)

Well, if you are unable to restore the original ROM properly, then take it somewhere where they can. Does not necessarily have to be your service provider, any authorized LG service can do that, plus lots of unauthorized shops can do it as well (warranty is a different issue here, though.)
Anyway, before you take the phone somewhere - if you flashed something from the thread you mentioned, you probably have 2.2.0 or 2.2.1. Have you tried using LG PC Suite to upgrade the phone to latest version (should be 2.2.2 pretty much regardless the operator/country). Might get you proper flash as well.
Also, CWM recovery has Wipe All option which wipes everything except for recovery.
Thanks so much ^_^ I got a 2.2.1 *.DZ. I don't have the energy to struggle with that anymore so I it took to my service provider and the guy there ordered me a new phone. Awesome of him hey!! At the end of the day, phones were actually made to call, TXT, and tweet with, so I'm through flashing. Time for me to throw in the towel and show it some love just the way it is!!

Oh yeah, and I tried upgrading to 2.2.2.. No luck, it said I had the latest version already at 2.2.1. Doesn't make any sense right. And that's from the official LG updater thinggy.. Hey, how do I mark this thread as SOLVED??

so i bricked my phone. fortunately though i was able to recover it. the question i have is, there was not a rom for my carrier i.e. cellsouth but there was one for another network(verizon), so i used that. btw my phone is a samsung showcase which is almost identical to the fascinate so i have no problems with it except seeing verizon as the network when i boot up or lock the screen. also when i check to see which carrier i'm on by dialing 611, i get cellsouth. i just dont want to incur any fees i dont know about,so im asking if there are any dangers using a rom from a different network???
No I do not believe that there is between cell south and verizon. I had a hero that ran on a sprint rom then my last phone was a milestone that I was using roms that where for the moto droid from verizon. But can I ask how you bricked your phone and what you did to fix it? I got a galaxy showcase and was trying to install a different kernel to help on the battery life and through odin I messed it up but was able to fix it by install eb11_voodoo.zip and Showcase_eb11_PnP_0.3. Well today I was going down the road and plugged my phone in the car charger and a few minutes later it just rebooted by itself. After that it did not have any service. I went under settings, about phone and it said unknown under several of the options. I took it to cell south after I tried several things and all they did was make it not even boot up. Now if I try to flash a rom from or kernel or anything at all from CWM v3.2.0.0.otb it says, Amen scripting was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages. Installation aborted. Can somebody HELP me get back my phone???
to unbrick it
to unbrick samsung showcase.you need samsung drivers, search forums or google ,easy find.
READ COMPLETELY AND DOWNLOAD FILES FIRST BEFORE STARTING.btw follow guide at your own risk. take no responsibility for you bricking your phone.which you already did, i mean for other people lol. it will work if you do it right so dont panic...i think...well, i hope
1) remove battery
2)plug usb cable to computer
3)start odin-
3)connect usb to phone and press volume down same time to activate download mode-that is yellow triangle thing-you should see "added" in odin
4) then make sure repartition auto reboot, reset time are checked-all three
5)then for pit file choose http://www.mediafire.com/?26xbh796jmwvwqb
6)for pda, go to here and download from the link that has "ECLAIR".its suppose to be about 419.5 mb.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
btw a guy named adrenalyn i believe uploaded these files so thanks to him.
hope this guide helps in you figuring it out.basically summarizing all you need cause i was confused a little bit when i began and realized i messed my phone up.
let me know if this works for yah.half asleep while doing this
I think your actual question was kinda missed here so I will explain it to you. First the rom that you choose to use is not carrier based, but is device based, never flash a rom that is not for your brand and model of phone. The thing that matters for the carrier is the modem, that gives you phone, data, and messaging. The only way your phone will not be on your carriers network is if you go through the involved process of switching it over yourself. Usually if you put the wrong modem on your phone it just won't work, requiring you to find the proper odin program to flash, including repartitioning the phone to get it right again. Hope this answers your questions.
Yea Dale...that answers my question ty

Some background on my phone first. I thought that I bricked it a few weeks ago when I flashed a kernel for it that went to a fascinate. I thought that the showcase was and is a twin to it. But my phone would not boot up. Did some more research and ended up flashing CWM 3.0 and then PnP 3.0 and eb11 build and had a phone again. Well had no problems till yesterday when my phone just did a reboot by itself and then I had no service and under about phone several of the categories said unknown. I took it to cellsouth and left with a phone that would not even boot up! All I can do is boot in CWM but if I try flashing a anything it says either error with restoring boot image or something about updating sript and binary files. Can somebody help me out?
Check out this thread, second post after original op, it has files and process to odin the Showcase. This is most likely your best option. GO HERE
just found a link with the showcase stock file..im downloading now and will let you know if it works. had the same problem as you. now im using fascinate bases and cant get my 3g
Well I got it to where I can at least talk on it!... I flashed it back to a stock DL09 with odin. Which it now looks and acts just like a Verizon phone. So I can talk and text but has NO data of any kind unless I connect to wifi. I think that I need to flash a DJ20 or EB11 radio to it but not sure, Maybe somebody could lend there knowledge again. Thanks so far.
i was just like you...had to use that verizon rom. however i did find a c.south stock rom and got to normal.YES!! but still working on getting 3g back up. i think it messed up when i flashed another modem or somthing. i'll post link in a sec.

yes you can re-root it using the torpedo method. but unfortunately no unlocking at this time

What he means is, you need to be unlocked to install a custom rom with custom kernel and you can no longer unlock. You have two rom options while still locked, but both are based off the blur you already have. You can still root, though.
from what I understand you can use boostrap recovery to install ROMs. i've yet to try it myself but others have used it

Only roms without a custom kernel assuming you are still locked while using it.

thanks for the info guys, well i did get the phone rooted and super user restored, see the thing is the phone was flashed and programmed for page plus, its still running on page plus service but i had 2 problems one being the nag screen to activate the phone for sprint and its constantly in roaming, i called page plus and they say yeah that will happen and no i wont be charged for it, i would be all happy if i could get the roaming off, i did however get rid of the sprint activation by deleting a apk called SprintOMADM,apk. now im not totally sure i need that apk or not but its gone now and i have no nag screen to activate it, it still makes calls just fine but im not sure im totally getting all my incoming phone calls or any notifications for voice mail, any sugestions on how i might be able to get rid of some of this stuff, like i said it was flashed rooted and unlocked before, i did use when i first had it that remote squad software but now it says it cant even read the phone, i was also told by them its probably that awsome new update 2.35. thanks alot again for your responses and ill keep popping in and out of here to see more responses

well when i got that awsome update 2.35 from my son clicking yes to it, i tried just about any roms to get the phone back, first it was the electrify rom which i later find out dumb mistake on my part, anyway now and i mean right now i flashed the phone with rsd lite using the electrify rom 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.5-4.5.1A_SUN_USC_19.0-19-release-keys-signed-USC-US..... from there i rooted the phone using the torpedo method, then i installed busybox and i forget which method i used but anyway it was all done in fastboot, once i got all that installed i downloaded a apk file system recovery which is MOTODX2_Bootstrap_signed.apk. plugged in the charger and booted up the system recovery or the bootstrap which ever you call it, and went into advanced and did a dalvik wipe i even hit fix permissions, i then hit go back and did a data- factory clear wipe, then went into install zip from sd card and i first used MOF.2.3.5.ish,v1.4.zip and that installed fine the problems i had was sometimes when i would do that i would get failed to boot 2 screen but i just used the unbrick zip that i downloaded here if anyone wants the name or link let me know, anyway.. once booted up with the MOF ish zip it would load fine but wouldnt save any settings or find any APNs or connect to any wireless networks in my house, but the wireless problem was clear it said error on it, so i knew the problem on that was it wasnt working derr. So this story is getting long now. anyway i then rebooted and turned on the bootstrap slash system recovery utility, and i installed first 2.3.x_libmoto_ril.so_198_7.zip and it aborted the install and failed. i then tried the next one in line which was 2.3.x_libmoto_ril.so_254_12.zip and that one installed fine so i rebooted and i got the failed to boot 2 screen and i did the unbrick sbf file on rsd lite and it booted fine, though still no saving of the settings and no wifi no cell service and no text or anything, I kept RSD lite open and i tried one more thing, 2.3.5sv2_198_7_radio.sbf and flashed it, the wifi for the house started working and i started getting bars on my cell service yay, well atleast i thought yay this is after weeks of not having a cell. well i thought all is well im done and fixed. NOPE im not fixed when i try and dial a number or even activate my phone i get nothing, no dial buzzing sounds like you get normally, no any kinds of sounds the call eventually times out and says called failed retry or cancel the call, i hit retry and i get the same thing. i even tried flashing the radio to 2.3.5sv2_254_12_radio. when i used that one it would save settings but i wouldnt get any cell signal or anything. so im back to square one. I need help. this phone is about 2 steps of getting thrown out the window. I just strated working again and i need this phone to call back customers and i cant afford a regular carrier so im on pageplus the phone was originally flashed through remote squad and worked great until i let my youngest son play a SNES emulator on it and it exited out of the program for some reason and it wanted to do the system update and he hit yes and it installed and screwed up everything. All i want now is to get the phone back to somewhat normal, I can use RSD lite, CDMA workshop, QPST, DFS 4.0.0.5 and a couple others if need be i can download anything i just need to be told what files i need and what i dont need to get the phone back to normal, cuz if i dont get this phone back to normal im just going to not get another pageplus card and throw the phone away and ill be back to not being able to work. thanks to all that has responded to the post here i really do apreciate the time you all have taken to help. sorry it took so long to get back to any of you here but i still need urgent help here badly please and thank you for your time to read this i hope i gave you all the info you needed to help me

Wow - just Wow. Unreadable. You are truly fortunate that someone actually read that and offered advice.
yes it was a long post, yes it was all jumbled together, anyway i did all the stuff recccommended and it works. the only problem im having now is, its still not lockig onto the right cell tower or something here where i live.
I Have tried Remote Squads Full Flash and other ways of manually programming it and for some reason I cannot get it to lock onto verizon towers, its like it has me permenantly locked onto sprint. when i drive down the road about 8 miles or so i can go down at the sheetz in my area and I get locked onto a verizon tower there but as soon as i move from that area I lose it and it goes back to sprint towers, I talked with Pageplus and they told me some stuff about what SID and NID i should have in but im not sure if the info was correct they told me they didnt know pennsylvavnia all that good but here is some numbers to try .. im about to melt this thing
Try roam control.

I need help. I messed up pretty bad. I have a Galaxy S3 T999N on Metro Pcs. A buddy got me into root about a year ago. It's been slow for me, because I'm scared of bricking my device. (I've read many guides, forum posts and watched many videos but I've never had the courage to flash a custom ROM, even though it looks really fun.)
SPECS
Galaxy S3 T999N 4.2.1 on Metro Pcs
The phone was rooted with Odin 3.07.
Later I used Odin 3.09 to flash custom recovery for TWRP. (Zip: openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1-d2mtr)
A couple days ago, I finally got enough courage to flash a custom rom. I Used titanium to back up all my apps, then used twrp to make a restore.
I used TWRP on the nightly I found (cm-11-20140217-NIGHTLY-d2mtr.zip). It failed. I apologize for not doing a log dump... I can't remember exactly what the log said. Something like (ERROR 7 or STATUS 7)
I wiped the cache and dalvik cache and used the recovery I made before the attempt at cyanogen, then I wiped the cache and dalvik cache again. TWRP said it was a successful recovery. When I went to reboot into the stock OS... It just hangs at the "Metro PCS Wireless for all" intro screen.
I started to do research on that symptom. found all kinds of threads on boot loops.
I tried leaving the battery out for 30 seconds, then booting into twrp to wipe the cache several times.
Then I tried the same steps with the dalvik included.
Then I repeated that same process with a factory reset. (several times.) Always the same result.
I even tried that entire process with wiping the entire phone, DATA, cache, dalvik, system, then doing recovery again. Doesn't work.
My recovery isn't working. I don't know what to do. (ALSO, INTERESTING SYMPTOM: I've noticed after doing the recovery, during the boot, the part when the black with white font Galaxy splash screen plays, the sound that it makes when the blue galaxy animation forms... it sounds like that sound starts late and gets cut off, then it sticks at the "Metro PCS Wireless for all" intro screen. It only does this after a factory reset, it doesn't make any sound at all otherwise because I think my phone's sound was turned off when I made the restore.)
I had a tech buddy try to find my stock rom, he wasn't sure which one to use. (confusion between Metro pcs and T-mobile S3s discussed below.) He told me to try another custom rom. If I could get one to work, that means the phone is still good and the custom rom would give me time to possibly find the stock rom for my model. (I just paid my bill, I'm wasting service right now.)
First I tried to find a stock rom for my phone. If I used "metro pcs" as a part of the google search, it came back with mostly results pertaining to Samsung Galaxy S III SCH-R530M (I've owned the SCH-R530M... it was white and the first model variant that Metro PCS had. I think it was only 4G not 4GLTE) All I could find for the T999N is a T-Mobile stock 4.1 but my device is 4.2. and on metro PCS. I was told that when the device updated to 4.2, partitioning and other things changed on the device specific to a 4.2 setup. So if I tried to use a 4.1 stock rom I could brick my device. (In the reading I've done, I've never came across anything that said that on the internet.)
So I moved on and started looking for another custom rom. I had seen a lot of videos on pacman. Looks awesome. After doing some reading, I found pacman on the android forums. (pac_d2mtr-20130510-v22.1.1)
IT WORKED! I was super excited. I got this X-mas-ish feeling in my stomach, like I just opened an awesome gift.
The Wifi Worked, but the camera, DATA and calls did not work. I was still super excited! First I explored Pacman, and ended up in the about phone section. (Model number was SCH-R530M! This probably isn't going to function the way I'd like, I thought to my self.)
The more I played with pac's interface, the more it kept freezing. Had to do a bunch of battery pulls.
On the same thread mentioned above, There was some talk about MMS problems, someone suggested flashing this for 4g and MMS fixes. (AOKP TO METRO FIX.zip) using TWRP, It flashed successfully but didn't fix my calls or DATA.
BY THIS TIME, IT WAS LATE, HAD BEEN READING FOR HOURS AND I WAS FEELING TIRED AND REALLY BUMMED.)
Then I tried to look for my models modem files to flash. (I'll be honest, I'm new to this, I had no idea where to look.) eventually I found a modem repostiory on a thread(Can't find the site in my history, but I found the link) I found this: USC_T999N_GalaxyS3_UVBNC1_Modem. I flashed that, it didn't work either.
At that point, I think I flashed AOKP TO METRO FIX.zip and USC_T999N_GalaxyS3_UVBNC1_Modem.zip out of panic and frustration of not having a phone. Could I have messed up my radios? is it possible that even if I ever get back into my stock, could the radios be messed up now cause I flashed AOKP TO METRO FIX.zip and USC_T999N_GalaxyS3_UVBNC1_Modem.zip?
I'm scared... and burned out. I really need a phone and don't have money for an insurance deductible or a new phone. (I know... what a stupid noob, right?)
I hate my current job and have been on the hunt for about three months, which paid off with a couple interviews. I'm waiting for 2nd interviews to be scheduled. How will they or anyone else interested in
hiring me, reach me?
A lot of the threads I've read, people report that their device can't boot into recovery or boot into download mode. MINE CAN STILL DO BOTH.
I'm not sure what to do. I appreciate anyone who took the time to read all of this.
TO SUM IT ALL UP, I WAS WONDERING:
1. Is there another method how to fix the boot loop problem?
2. I also heard that T-Mobile and Metro PCS merged, which is why I have a T-Mobile model. Would it matter if I used the T Mobile Stock (or custom rom.) When technically I'm on Metro PCS?
2a. Would that effect my ability to make calls?
3. Also, is it true that using a 4.1 stock rom after having taking the 4.2 update, will that brick my Phone?
3a. Is there a place that offers 4.2 stock roms? I could only find 4.1 (not sure where to look.)
3b. My wife has the exact same phone, same model, rooted, only hers is 4.1 and mine is 4.2 - Could there be a method or some useful way to use the firmware from the wife's phone?
4. Is it possible that if I ever get back into my stock, could the radios be
messed up now cause I flashed AOKP TO METRO FIX.zip and USC_T999N_GalaxyS3_UVBNC1_Modem.zip while messing with pacman?
5. My phone can still go into download mode and it still boots into recovery. Is there any hope that I can save this? What else do I need to consider? Is all my network settings stuck on the recovery?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
