[Q] What causes the Xperia X10 to be sim locked? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Xperia X10 is on TMOBILE. Im not sure if it is sim locked or not. I use TMOBILE. The PCB is defective so I need to get a different one. Theres a faulty Xperia X10 on ebay that im looking at but its locked to Orange. If I swap the PCBs will that make my phone locked to orange? And if it does is there a free way to unlock?

[Q] Phone from AT&T but I'm in Canada

I sent in my x10a to get repaired and they sent me a new phone because it was "defective". Anyway, I live in Toronto, ON. I got the original phone from Rogers. The weird thing is that when I boot up the new x10 that I got, it says AT&T instead of the ugly Rogers boot screen.
I'm planning to unlock my phone so. Is there any other way to check whether my phone is locked by AT&T or Rogers? Besides putting a Rogers SIM card in and checking?

How to find out if the X10 is SIMlocked without the SIM?

Is there a way to find out if my X10i is SIMlocked without trying to put in another SIM card?
I'd like to sell my X10i, but I'm not sure if it's SIMlocked. Unfortunately I do not have another's brand SIM card at hand, and the matter is kind of urgent. Can someone help?

Hi,
When i bought my SXS it was locked by Vodafone (the service info said). And then it get the ICS, and i asked T-mobile sim from my college, and it works fine... Only disadvantage was that, mobile internet has to configure manually.
i dont think it will work, my phone is sim lock.
Anyone?

[Q] Need to find out if my phone is locked to my network... and unlock it. How?

I've had my Atrix for a year, now someone wants to buy it from me. Considering Motorola has given us the middle finger more than once, this will be my last Moto phone, and I'll sell my phone.
The thing is, I'm on a certain network (TELCEL) and my friend wants to use it with MoviStar.
I bought this phone brand new from my boss. I believe he got it as a gift from a Motorola rep (he got the entire deal - both docks and the phone). I do not know whether the phone is locked or not. I don't know how to find if it is or not.
I've unlocked the bootloader and am currently running CM10. I'll downgrade to stock 2.3 before I give the phone to my friend.
How can I check if the phone is unlocked and whether he can use it on another network? I have no clue and don't know anyone who has a MoviStar SIM. I would like to give him the phone knowing that it'll work..
Thanks!
Don't know if this helps, but-
If I search for other networks, I can see MoviStart without an issue.
I tried typing #073887* on the dial screen and nothing happens.
Perhaps it's already unlocked?
Put any other sim in it and see if it works. If its unlocked it will.
Unlocking bootloader etc doesn't remove network lock btw.
Sent from Moto Atrix 4g on Neutrino 2.91
Thanks... I can't easily find anyone with a MoviStar chip. As a matter of fact, my friend is the only one I know that uses that network! I'll have to go to MoviStar and ask for a SIM to try, I guess.
It doesn't need to be that specific one, just any other SIM card will do.

Xperia mini pro sk17i - no network on H20 mobile

Hi,
my regular phone died on me, so i whipped out my trusty travel sk17i and put in a temp h20 mobile sim. (ATT mvno).
Problem is, it wont connect to their network.. it should as it has all the required bands.
I contacted h20 support and they asked for my IMEI and said faltly that the phone is not supported on their network...... which is weird... cos it should be.
any help, insight on this?
before i bin the sk17i and get another cheap phone for pay as you go before i decide on a permanent replacement.
regards,
asmd.
