Okay, I've looked everywhere for this.
Can somebody throw me a bone?
I've diff'd a coulpe files and there's too much changed to do just the one mod that way.
Thanks

PM "The Dub". He had modded our sprint's 6bar's into 4bars for his Simply AOSP ROM, so reverse engineering? Hope that gives u a better lead.

Yeah, he just modded the 4 bar images. There is a hack to make it actually accurate with 6 bars.
That's what I'm looking for. Thanks though.

This is fairly simple but does require some framework modifications..
All we do really is replace the 6 images of the 6 line signal strength bar with the images of the one with 4 as already mentioned.
To make it accurate you just name them accordingly and do some math to get it as close as you could...
Each bar of signal is represented by an image with 1 out of 6 bars or 4 out of 6 bars in the framework. So knowing that...
1 - 2 out of 6 real bars of strength is represented by 1 out of 4 bars in the icon (1/6 and 2/6 are roughly 16% and 33% signal strength, represented by 25% on the icon.)
3 out of 6 real bars are represented by 2 out of 4 bars. (Self explanatory 3/6 and 2/4 = 50%)
4 out of 6 real bars are represented by 3 out of 4 bars. (4/6 is 66% and represented by 75%)
5 - 6 out of 6 real bars are represented by 4 out of 4 bars. (5/6 is 83% and represented by 100%)
^^^ That's how I did it. You could switch 5 out of 6 real bars to 3 out of 4 on the 4 icon bar since it's closer to 75% then 100% but I just went with it... You just rename your new signal strength bar pictures accordingly in the framework (framework-res.apk) and done!
I don't think I can provide a more detailed exclamation then that
Edit: I don't have file names of the signal strength icons in front of me, but they are in framework-res.apk and shouldn't be to hard to find, there will be 6 of them, I believe at the end of the file name is their number so yadda_yadda_1.png for example.

Thats how He did his on the ROM. reverse engineering will give you the 6bars your looking for. NOT just a visual look. you would just need to do some math.
I believe it's part of an XML file. Find where the file loads the signal icon, depending on signal strength. You'll have to decompile framework-res.apk. It's different per phone, but most people just use the same two images for 2 signals when going from 6 bars to 4. (for example, signal 1 will have a 1 signal icon, signal 2 and 3 will have the signal 2 bar, signal 4 and 5 will have the 3 signal bar, and signal 6 will be the full signal bar. You can take a look @ my MattedReds theme, download it, open up the framework-res.apk > res > drawable-hdpi > search signal and find the one that says Sprint. There will be a total of 14 icons. inside the AOSP version, you'll find I simply used the same image for a few.

I have a pw10b off of ebay the other day and it has rom 4.01.16 rs 6.25.02 and the signal never get more than two bars Well ... not never if i reset it in a place with known perfect tmobile signal than i get the perfect signail for about 4-8 sec than boom two bars AGHHH... This phone is too cool to give up so I've come here first please help

I wouldnt take too much notice of the signal indicator, in my experience it is inaccurate, if you can make and receive calls ok then leave it alone because messing with radio stacks is not a good idea.
do you think i should try the Special Edition ROM v1.2
well see the internet is verry verry slow like about 5 min to start to load yahoo... is this the speed of the xda at all signal levels?
I just droped my sidekick for this phone and it would load yahoo in about 1 min or less?
do you think i should try the Special Edition ROM v1.2
I access the internet over gsm and it is very slow, I did see an improvement when using the program on the special edition rom called "ftxPBrowser". I dont have any experience with internet over gprs but i assume that too is going to be pretty slow too.
try this link on your xda from different locations and using CSD and GPRS to see where is the problem

We all know the battery icon on the Vibrant is subpar. It looks like you have much more battery than you actually do. The stock icons (10, 20, 40, 60, 80%) don't show their correct percentages.
I made this morph in hopes to fix that issue. I actually measured the available space in the icon and figured how much each percentage would be (10, 20, 40, 60, 80). Only issue I can see is I don't know at what percentages the phone changes icons (ie. 20% icon at actual 20% or another close percentage).
Also including a revert in case someone wants to go back to the stock icon.
(May include comparison screenshots if I can get them)

downloads not working...
DL links fixed.
Sorry.
Thank you so much!
Thank you!
Also, for those of you that don't want to have to morph, you could always download the battery watcher widget, which displays the percentage of battery remaining in a widget.
True. A lot of widgets will put a percentage up in the status bar. This is more for the OCD (no offense) people that can't stand having it be way off.

Well I'm far from ocd (
You should see my desk), but it is really annoying that what looks like 70%, is actually 40%

I have been trying to port over this battery from the captivate forums, as its super accurate (to the percentage). Anyone feel like trying? It involved 100 images and 3 xml files.

I can't make the orginal one work. The accurate battery I mean. It says applying but doesn't complete. How long does it normally take? Can you have more than one morph at a time? Did I miss something?

There seems to be a link to a Vibrant version here.
Ooh, I like that circle battery indicator! I originally wanted to see about making more icons than just the 7, but wasn't how to implement it (I'm not a coder).
The vibrant version is here also: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756441

Good call. That was the problem. It rebooted, will have wait a bit to see if it works. At 70% right now. Thanks
Just curious if there's an icon pack or some other method for replacing the signal bars with the actual dBm strength..
Running Viper4G
Thanks!
3 day bump
It may be in the venom tweaks. Not sure though. I know its possible on cm10 however...

i checked in tweaks but i dont see an option for it..i think that icon does look a lil more stylish tho..maybe somebody can mod it?
Had it forever back in my DroidX days. Seems odd it isn't available anywhere for our phone yet
any one else noticing low signal bars on 4.2.2 .where I normally had 3 bars on 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 I now have 1 bar call quality is ok but most times I have no signal and whenever I make a call and hang up I cannot make a call immediately after I have to wait about 30 seconds or more or the call fails ..I have tried numerous kernels and its the same thing so it seems to be 4.2.2 based.
Try flashing a different modem.

From what I've seen it is a bug in 4.2.2 that you have to wait to place another call or it fails. Personally what i would do is I would take note of the dBm in the current rom, and the previous ROM, which I am assuming is stock, to see if the way the Roms measure the bars differently. I just like flashing and playing around with my phone, so other people might see this as unnecessary to do that To check out the dBm Go to settings>about phone>status and take note of the signal strength in dBm.

The signal on the signal bar? If that's it it isn't really dropping completely, unless it shows No Service. AOSP just measures and show the signal differently than Touchwiz.

Well it does drop. Because signal bars becomes empty (if that makes sense). If I try to go to a webpage while it's like that, it cant load the page. Mind you, the signal comes back in 5-10 seconds or so, so it's not a huge deal. Just curious if there is a fix by chance or something I'm just missing.

My phone rarely show the service correctly in the Notification Bar (very low 4G signal and it doesn't show up but works perfectly), the accepted way to measure your signal in in About Phone/Status.
It sounds like you just have spotty coverage or low coverage and it becomes a little worse on AOSP.
No matter how many times it is said that AOSP reads/displays the signal differently for me it is actually a little worse on AOSP. When I say worse I usually have 3 bars of 4G and full 3G, no out of service time, and the measurements in the About Phone/Status menu are generally a bit better on TW. With AOSP I have 1 bar of 4G and 2 of 3G, 10-15% out of service time, and lower readings in the menu.
